The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Noel: Yes, I can see it being pretty interesting Nolan going from place to place picking up little memory clues. Though Alex would be a hard nut to crack memory manipulation-wise, given how fractured his brain is already, nearly bordering on dissociative identity disorder. I wonder if any other SUPER member would like to join in the hunt. Edit: Oh look, Trace is volunteering.
Darkshift: Shard definitely has recruitment potential, but whether she gets in isn't really up to Alex. He can only point her in the right direction and put in a good word for her. Perhaps she runs into him after or during a mission and he either catches her watching or she helps him, which might freak him out at first.
Ranger: I can see that, Alex is doing his duty, perhaps maiming/killing someone and someone calls it in, "hooded man in a mask" n' all. Alex doesn't carry a weapon, but his powers are usually enough to stop people. Hope Ranger doesn't mind puking snakes and/or rats!

"You feel like you're on the outside because you're missing experiences which are DUMB. PATENTLY DUMB. Normal people can hardly tell their days from their weeks from their years! They make up dumb stuff, in-jokes, to make sure they at least have something to talk about!"
Oh that was just infuriating! Leo was just not getting it! "If you think it's so dumb and the way I've lived is so cool, then why don't you do it?! Why don't you just pack it up and leave?! Abandon everything, travel on foot, face disease and starvation and death and danger the way I did! Oh right! You won't because you know you won't enjoy it! You know that whatever you think will be the cool thing you could talk about to girls would not be worth the goddamn damage!"
He took the directions, almost on autopilot at this point. "You're comfortable and happy! It's not dumb when it's the way NORMAL life is! It's not dumb when everybody seems to know everything except you! What was dumb was abandoning my one shot at a normal life because I was afraid of my foster parents! I was afraid getting hurt and the only thing I ended up doing was hurting myself!"
"Look, I don't know about how to deal. But I do know one thing. We're here. Do you want a crash course in culture?"
He blinked, surprised that Leo's directions were in fact not towards home but toward some small games shop. He was half tempted to turn the car around but instead pulled it into a parking spot. "Fine, but since you seem to think it's so cool, you're getting a crash course in survival later."he grumbled before getting out of the truck.

Alex adjusted his arm around the small boy, holding him close, almost protective. He never had someone to protect before. It felt right, like he was meant to do this. Yet, he feared that if he got attached SUPER would use it against him. No, didn't just fear, he knew they would. They sought out any weakness to dig into, any crack in the armor that could lead them to control him.
He blinked at the kid's answer, "That's our name and age, but we were not saying that..." It was confusing, because he hadn't even been thinking about that, maybe it had something to do with his powers. Yeah, that sounded about right. Powers were strange like that.
He shook his head and tried to focus on something else, something that wouldn't give the doctors an advantage. "...Since you don't have a name, would you like us to give you one?"he asked softly.

Alex smirked at Sam's mention of an elf costume and preferring Juli to him. Well, of course he would, why wouldn't he? Undoubtedly the two adults in the room have already gotten cozy with each other. With Alex there he'd probably throw a wrench into all of that. But he nodded all the same, glade they'd be celebrating regardless. He wanted that, more than anything, he wanted that.
It was at this point he started feeling...weird. Not the good fuzzy weird he had gotten at the beginning of the holiday season where it was really setting in that he was going to have something normal for once. Not happy weird. No this was, oddly familiar, yet strange at the same time. He tried to shrug it off, tried to focus on Sam's words about being thankful for having the both of them. "You're welcome, dad." He meant it genuinely, even as it felt strange on his tongue. He watched the man get up to get more drinks, more words suddenly trapped in his throat.
The pressure grew, the sensation bubbling in his chest, and before he knew it, the ground rose up to meet him. To him it felt like getting pulled under, the lights in his brain starting and stuttering with no control, it felt like drowning. On the outside, however, it was a seizure, plain and simple. His body just collapsed, twitching and tensing on the floor like a toy with fried circuitry.
Below the Atlantis Club, hidden behind stored chairs and tables and all manner of extra items the club might need was a door. And behind that door was a room, or really, something compared to a dark little apartment. And on the bed in that small, dark apartment Alex slept. He was comfortable here, safe and hidden from outside view. Also, he had all the junk food he could ever ask for.
Best of all he could come and go as he please. No one was going to stop him, short of keeping him from endangering himself or someone who he shouldn't or wasn't allowed to hurt. That had happened a few times. 'Fugue state' one of Poseidon's men had remarked, but thankfully it only seemed random and temporary. The downside was that sometimes it'd leave him lost for longer than he'd like. So an agreement was made. Alex would wear a special 'collar', which really could have just been mistaken for a choker from far away, that could keep track of him if he ever wondered off without calling in.
They could have seen a doctor, possibly gotten medication. But Alex hated doctors with all the fury in his body. So the collar was a more comfortable choice, something he could keep on him at all times, just in case.
In any case, for the time being, Alex was enjoying his food coma when the call came in. He blinked lazily at the device where it buzzed on his bedside table, once, twice, then stopped. A text then, okay, better. Probably a meeting, he didn't like meetings, everyone was so judgey. And fancy. What was the point of those fancy clothes if you were just going to ruin 'em at some point?
He yawned and turned over, staring into the dark and just listening. Soft music was filtering down, the club was awake. Last night when he came back in they were closing for the night...Or was it the night before that? He couldn't remember how long he had been out, though the creak in his joints told him he had definitely been out longer than 24 hours.
Alex laid in bed longer than he should have, letting himself adjust to simply being awake, before finally getting up. He washed up and got dressed, making sure he at least smelled presentable. He wasn't one for suits and ties, all that fancy clothing just got in the way of his job and his job came at the snap of Poseidon's fingers.
So, he dressed simple, hoodie and jeans, letting his damp hair curl however it pleased for the most part. He grabbed a couple of snacks on the way out, stomach rumbling and cluing him in further on how long he had really been asleep. Yeah, longer than a day it felt like.
Alex tromped up the steps, still half awake but ready for the meeting at least. The steps emerged just behind the kitchen and as he walked through he saw the staff working away. The food always smelled so good and he was tempted to steal a bite, but he wouldn't dare, not right now anyway. He stepped out of the kitchen and saw two other Ragnarok members had beaten him here. But more importantly, Poseidon was here.
"Good evening, sir."he murmured, bowing his head respectfully to the man. Then he really took in the other two, frowning at Alice's...guests... He glanced at Poseidon, "Did she get permission to bring her friends here, sir?" Surely that wasn't allowed. They weren't members, not as far as he knew, and these things were supposed to be secret. Who knew what information Alice's little friends could spill to the outside world!

"The cliche answer is that you wouldn't be the person you are today if you hadn't known those people and done those things."
He couldn't help but snort at that, "Thanks preacher, like I haven't heard that one before..." His voice was bitter. He's had so many encounters whilst homeless. Mostly from people who were better off, who didn't have to stay in the places he ended up calling a temporary bed. Preachers, volunteers, church goers, people who picked him up off the side of the road. They were able to move on and he was stuck.
"Look, if I could poof take away all your hurt, you'd be a dumb, sheltered puffmuffin like me an Jiri."
"At least I wouldn't have faced death all the time, at least I'd have a chance for a normal life! I am dumb Leo! I'm still catching up on f***ing high school and if I ever make it to college, I'll probably be 40 by the time I graduate! Half my life wasted on trying to catch up to everyone else! Not to mention on everything else I've missed out on! Socially, culturally, I am stunted! Every time you and Jiri talk, all I can do is just sit there and nod like a fucking idiot. Like, 'oh yeah I definitely know why that reference in that movie is so funny and definitely not making shit up as I go along' and 'Mmhm, I'm definitely caught up on all that political history and why this one particular guy in recent years is problematic'." He felt left out and left behind more often than not, the world didn't operate on his skills. They operated on the skills gathered from having an ideal life, one with access and money. Out of all of them, Leo had the most advantages, no powers required. "Okay. Fine. So you're just going through the motions until you die?"
"Yeah, that's been the plan since I ran away at age f***in' 12. One day at a time..." Why wouldn't this light turn green? He really just wanted to get home and go to bed, he could feel a headache building and pulsing at his temples.
"And, you're okay with that? Is your dad okay with that!? HOW IS EVERYONE OKAY WITH THAT!?"
"Dad's dealing with his own shit right now, so he doesn't need to know. Besides...he'd probably agree with me." They were two of a kind, dear ol' dad had led a similar life and was dealing with the nightmares now and he wasn't about to pile on his own problems to that. Sam might act normal enough during they're training sessions but Alex knew about the night terrors and the fatigue and the drinking. It was hard to disguise when it started making the man sloppy.
"You're the only one who's ever bothered asked how I fake being so put together! Honestly, I'm surprised nobody picked up on this before! Nobody else knows!" And that was probably a testament to how much he trusted Leo, really. No one ever bothered to ask how he dealt with things, all that mattered was that he was and whatever he was doing wasn't destructive enough to be readily apparent.
"And of course I'm not okay with it! It's not normal but it's the only way I've learned how to deal! With everything that has ever happened to me! With everything that will continue to happen!" He took the turn without thinking, without questioning Leo's directions because, why would he. It was the middle of the night, where else were they going to go besides home.

Alex had been fully prepared to hold the boy till his crying calmed. He didn't know what SUPER planned to do with him but it couldn't be anything good. With how they treated him over the last several years, the pain, the suffering, the removal of everything that made him feel...human. He didn't trust them to do anything different with the kid, if anything, he worried that things might escalate, that they'll do worse things since they failed to get him under control.
However, all this fell to the wayside when Chase shifted in his arms. Alex watched in amazement as the boy when from small and fragile to...him. The kid looked like him but the moment he pulled away, also shocked by the sudden shift in appearance, the change faded away. That was...That had to have been the kids power at play.
"I... I... heard your voice. In my head."
He blinked and tilted his head, "It must have been your powers. You copy others..." He wanted to test it, see what would happen if they stayed close longer. But he hesitated; his gaze went from the two-way mirror to the door. Getting the child to use his powers, even if unintentionally, might have been the plan all along and he wasn't about to let them just take the boy away. He wanted to protect him, something he didn't know the doctors were already marking down.
He didn't know they were going to use that against him. If he was protective there was no telling what limits they could push now. After all, he had held out against obeying them for so long that it was almost certain that they were going to have to scrap him. But now, now they had something he'd try to hold on to.
Alex looked back at the kid and tried to look reassuring, "What did the voice say?" He couldn't help his curiosity. After years of doing nearly nothing but training this was the most interesting thing that's ever happened to him. It was just unfortunate that it came packaged in an amnesiac child.

Alex was pretty sure his nose was broken now, the wheezing inhalation was a good sign something had broken in there. He was lucky nothing else was broken. He just wished he could stop to get a proper breath in. But there was no time for that. He needed a place to hide, scratch that, they needed a place to hide. The guy who saved him was right behind, the sound of screaming at his heels. His savior must have pulled out a more deadly weapon than before.
There was a door to one of the buildings, he hadn't seen it in his panicked rush to get away from them. By some miracle it was unlocked and he rushed in, keeping it open just a crack to beckon the weapon creator in with him. The room was dark and he hoped this wasn't a repeat of the last time he had run away from a group of thugs.
Once the man got in, he shut the door as quietly as he could and waited, keeping a hand on the handle. He listened, waiting and waiting until there was the sound of the men running or hobbling by, before he finally took a breath. His chest hurt, his face hurt, everything hurt and it'd be a hell of a time getting back to the school to see the Doc. He only hoped he could convince the guy to not alert Sam about what happened. His adopted dad had enough on his mind already.
He looked over his shoulder at where he presumed his knight in shining armor was in the dark. "Thanks...I guess I owe you one."he murmured, exhausted but smiling now that it seemed the danger had passed.

"The world might be uncaring. But the people in it aren't. How can you feel that way when there are so many people who care about you? You got a new dad who seems pretty cool. You have friends who would fly across the world with you and stand shoulder to shoulder with you when the shi** hits the fan. You believe in stuff. You helped me believe in stuff! That's not pressure to be somebody, man. You already are somebody."
"PEOPLE LEAVE, LEO!" Alex's hands were trembling, the whole time Leo was talking, his grip on the steering wheel just grew tighter and tighter. His cool was rapidly wearing off. "IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU CARE!" He took a couple of deep breathes and shook his head, trying to at least stop shouting. "Eventually, eventually everyone leaves. Death comes or you find a reason to separate from people. One way or another, it doesn't matter what you think or what you feel or believe. It all circles back in the end. There is nothing left in me to deny this fact, if I fight this current there will be nothing left. All I can do in the end is leave my bones to uphold some form of good so someone else can have the chance I never got." "What can I do to change your mind?"
He was silent for a moment, jaw working, grinding his teeth, before he finally spoke. "Rewind time, take away all the hurt and suffering I have ever felt. Take away the death and the struggle, the murder and violence. Bring back B.D. and Olive and Herbert, bring back Shield and Void, bring Nasir and Mary, bring back every bastard who's ever fucking abandoned me or died on me! Fuck, bring back the men I've murdered to survive!!" The truck pulled to a stop at the light and he knew he felt tears stinging his eyes but he was too stubborn to rub at them.
"You and Jiri are lucky. So, fucking lucky, to have never known what death looks like when it stares you in the face. What it's like to be demeaned and abandoned and have your very existence become a struggle. I wish, I could see the world through your easy lens. I wish I could think about dating without worrying that I will eventually drag someone into a conflict they won't survive. Or that each new conflict will make them want to abandon me. You've only stuck around because you've gotten it in your head that your some sort of political savior and Jiri's stuck in it whether he wants to be or not, had it not been for his mutation he would still be at his school in the same town as his family."
Everything was just spilling out, a dam in his head just broken open by Leo's words and a long time of temporary patches. "...Leo, I don't think I'll make it for much longer. At the rate I attract trouble, I'll be dead before I turn 21..."

Alex watched, dazed by the show of power against the three attackers. For a moment, he could only sit and stare and wonder where this man had come from. That is, before he realized he should probably call the cops. Now that there was someone to vouch for him, maybe he wouldn't get in trouble. Yeah, as long as they both survived this, these guys would end up going to jail. Not him.
He just didn't want his dad to find out.
He struggled to pull his phone from his pocket, hands shaking but he got it. Well, in that moment anyway. One of the men knocked away by his rescuer's fist caught sight of him, up and moving about with phone in hand, "Hey!" Alex was jolted by the sudden shout, it being the first word he had heard out of any of his attackers.
Instead of returning to the fight, the man got up and grabbed Alex's hand, attempting to get the phone. They struggled for a moment, but in his weakened state, Alex was helpless and he wasn't about to use his powers on a human being again.
Phone ripped from his grasp, his assailant smashed it on the ground, stomping on it for good measure. Alex watched and found he really had one choice. Make a run for it. He stumbled to his feet before the man could realize what he was doing and ran for the entrance of the alley, hoping that he wasn't abandoning his rescuer. Hoping that the man figured out what he was doing and ran too.

"It's not 'cuz I was bad? Then why?"
Alex looked down at the boy, sadness creeping into his face. He shook his head, he didn't have an answer. In all the time he had been here, he had not found a reason for their cruelty. They treated him without kindness or thought, without the respect they clearly showed each other. He found himself surrounded on all sides by people who would see him brutalized before speaking a single friendly word.
The child kept talking though and it didn't seem to make their situation any less bleak. "I was walking when they found me. By a big road. A freeway? I had no shoes. But I had a wallet."
He tilted his head at the mention of a wallet. Usually those things held important stuff, things adults wanted to keep safe. He knew many of the adults kept their wallets on chains around here, particularly after he stole one. "Do you remember if there was anything in the wallet? Anything important?"he probed further.
Then the tears came and they were worse then he could have imagined. He felt tears sting his own eyes, because he had no answers, he had nothing that could make things better.
"I don't want to be here...I-I-I don't- I don't want to be here... do we... do we get to go home? Why are we here?"
"No, we're sorry, there's no home to go to. We don't have a home, and if you're here, you don't have one either. We're sorry, we're sorry."he sniffled and then, carefully, gently, he tried to put an arm about the younger boy. He wanted to hold him close, hug him, make him feel safer at least. It was all he had to offer. There was nothing else he could give, this was a cruel, cruel place.

Alex tilted his head at that one, he vaguely go the reference. The fish had a catch phrase, something about swimming. He shrugged it off, focusing on starting up the truck before Leo decided to lean over the middle console. Perhaps leaned in too close.
"Do you really feel that way? That is no way to live, Alex."
He looked over at him, face passive as can be. "Yeah I do and I've been living this way for some time Leo. The world is cruel and uncaring and it's a cold comfort, but comfort nonetheless."he sighed, pulling the truck out of it's parked spot and back down the road. "If the world doesn't care, there's no pressure to be anything or have anything. I just have to be happy with whatever drifts my way."
He might have sounded harsher than he meant, more resigned to his fate than he meant. But, that's the way things were going to be, he wasn't going to drag anyone into the mess that was his life. It didn't seem to matter how right thing may be going, if things were going to get ruined, he might as well be the one to take it all. On his own.

I can't get enough of the AltVerse, so I'm just going to advertise my lil monster here. AltVerse!Alex isn't too radically different power or look-wise, but his personality and history is far removed from MRO's version. Check the link for more details, but in short he's more feral, violent, and unstable because of his time spent as a lab rat for SUPER. He escaped but ended up in the hands of Poseidon, basically owing the man everything and would do anything for him, has been for the last year. This includes assassinations, threats, body clean up, gang "clean up", and more.
He's generally friendly with other Ragnarok members, and possibly Haven members if they're friendly with Ragnarok. Though if it's someone he doesn't know right away, he'll be stand-offish at first.
So without further ado, here's some Plot Ideas
You're character is being a pest for Ragnarok. Either Alex is sent to threaten, maim, or ultimately kill you and/or your loved ones. Obviously, he fails if you want your character to live.
You're character is part of Ragnarok, new perhaps, and you meet Alex possibly for a job, or possibly because he's in a "mood" and Poseidon needs someone to keep an eye on him or to keep him from getting in trouble.
You're character is part of Haven, perhaps you're meeting Poseidon, perhaps you're a target. That we'll have to see and work out between the factions two leaders.
You're character is a S.U.P.E.R agent and you've heard a long lost mutant asset has been spotted in the area, time to recapture the little monster before it causes more damage.
You're character is an X-Men and you've either stopped Alex from killing a target or arrived a little too late to save the poor soul
You're character is a patron at the Atlantis Club, you see someone watching from the second floor. Perhaps a little investigation is in order?

Alex could only shake his head at Leo's pessimism. "Then move on, if it's meant to be it will, if not, it's not. End of story." He shrugged but he knew it wasn't really helping Leo. It was a positive poster idea, not really anything substantial. The other boy seemed to be hooked on whatever idea he had dreamed up in his mind and it only served to hurt him.
"How do you do it, Alex? You're doing the training and everything else and you keep it together just fine in front of everybody. Even the ladies. Teach me your ways."
He laughed at that, "I don't think what works for me will work for you... Do you really want to know?" He waited on that confirmation he knew was coming and sighed. "Realize that it doesn't matter. Everything you do won't matter in the end because the thing you want won't happen. No matter how much you struggle, no matter how hard you try, the best you can do is stay positive and keep moving until you eventually die." He didn't look at Leo as he spoke, instead choosing to stare off into space. There, brutally honest and upfront without getting to the root of it.
It was contradictory sure, in the past couple of years or so he had gone from homeless, to having at least a dad and that took struggle and luck. But on matters of love...it all just left a sour taste in his mouth. He was convinced, if he didn't die before 21, he was going to end up loveless and alone. There was no point and denying that fact. There was no one in the world who would want him, not like this, not with his bad luck and bad reputation...Not with his sexuality...
