The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He didn’t stutter but Sam figured that was a rhetorical question, why would he get rid of his booze? It wasn’t his and the fact that he was so casual about everything just pissed him off more. The man cave needed a code to get in so this guy had to have one or he had some sort of power set similar to Junipers. ”Ding, ding. Anyone int the mansion could have guessed that.” Sam said sarcastically, ”I’d offer you a drink but someone happened to get rid of them.” he said sulking as he just grabbed water or he liked to call it un-brewed/stilled drink.
Saphirus, who was a friend. A friend that got rid of his booze. Clearly the friend who had been sleeping on the job with his older self. It seemed no one was hiding his booze or older Sam just had better hiding spots. Sam debated if there was any here that Saphirus didn’t know about.
Then his ‘friend’ said something that he hated to hear, ‘the real you’ meaning that who he was now wasn’t a person. The who he was now was just a placeholder till he became the ‘real’ Sam again. He was starting to like his time in the mansion less and less the more he was reminded of who he was. ”You knew the old me, I am real.” Sam corrected a little more aggressively than he intended. No booze, current situation and someone telling him he wasn’t real was starting to irritate him. He wanted to hit something, maybe drink something.

No killing. One thing he had a love hate relationship with the X-team was this. While it was easy to kill for Sam he didn’t like to do it if he had a choice not to. He liked the fact that the X-men were so opposite of T.A.T. while they highly encouraged to kill, the X-men highly encouraged not to.
”Heat rises.” Sam said, ”sides if the fires on the other floor weaken the building enough it doesn’t matter where the fire guys are if the whole thing collapses right?” he said doing what was requested and directing the hardest of the cold away from her. Sam blasted every large flame he could find and even coated the walls in ice to help slow the existing burns.
When she requested not to freeze someone he almost laughed. While he could direct his powers in every direction there was something to say about movement. He’d redirect his powers if he spotted someone moving. Which was why Becca wasn’t coated in ice as well. Just the cold.
Thermal vision however had some other ideas. While older Sam was far more experienced with it his younger self was not and every time he directed a beam of cold out he quickly got hit with a splitting headache, which caused his visions to overlap. Going from normal vision to thermal in a burning building was a sure fire way to cause him to get distracted. ”Someone in that closet.” he said as he staggered to a wall and leaned up against an ice over wall.
Actively he turned it off again and tried to suppress his thermal vision. While it was helpful in most cases it slowed him down and confused the heck out of him. Sam just hoped there was an actual person in one of the closest.

”Sure thing duchess.” Sam said instinctively when she requested for him to turn up the heat. It wasn’t her fault of the situation he was in but her calling him a dear didn’t help. In fact no one was currently helping Sam, not even himself.
Ice started to flake off his body as he regained some semblance of control on himself. The icemancer shifted uncomfortably in his seat as he looked over his shoulder hoping they would talk to him more so it wouldn’t be just him and Cora in the situation she was clearly enjoying. ”Again.” Sam said chiming to Juniper about wrestling a shark.
Shifting his gaze over to Cora he raised an eyebrow ice no longer covering his face. Just his aviators, ”Turning off the cold.” Sam repeated and nodded his head. He didn’t’ make any adjustments other than his control over his powers and turned it off. The last thing he wanted to do was show any of the women in the jet he wasn’t in control of something. ”Yeah, living in the mansion does give me a bunch of opportunities to meet people like the princess.” just meet nothing else.
Yep, he could bull **** with the best of them. He tried to ignore the colored thread other than smirking slightly to Cora. He didn’t know why she was giving him such a hard time. It wasn’t like they were anything other than friends. Who seemed very attracted to each other.
”I answer to Sam too.” he called back to the third voice still not looking back to see her. He had to make sure everything was great and he didn’t want any of the women to lock eyes with him if he took them off the horizon. Once the coordinates were in and he was comfortable with the readings on everything he hit autopilot and stood up without a word.
”Juniper…. You mind helping me with something real quick in the back.” he looked to Cora and then smirked, ”You got it from here right?” as he stood up he placed a hand on her shoulder and let it linger for a second before he pointed to the back cockpit where the door was. It was then he realized there was a kid with them. Now he felt bad he told Eve she couldn’t come with but to be fair in his mind there would have been more of an adult theme. Clearly there was some miscommunication going on. Sam shook his head and quickly walked out of the cockpit waiting for Juniper.

Still giving his mouth time to cool he waited patiently for Lenna to clean up the left overs. He had wanted to help but got the strong feeling she would have shoo’d him from the area. So he just smiled and waited till she was wrapped up.
”It’s with me. It’s going to be cool at least!” he said grinning and exiting the hallway. ”You need to have permission to get in because like the name it is dangerous.” Sam said as he walked to the stairs and headed down towards the basement where the long metallic hallways resided. One goes to the jet and a few other rooms and then the side he went down lead to the danger room. Most of the doors were locked for obvious reasons. Most kids didn’t need to see a war room.
The doors opened and closed with a ‘whoosh’ as they entered. The large empty room didn’t look too dangerous but that was part of the danger. Never knew what the room could throw at you. ”You mentioned blades.” Sam said looking up to the eye in the sky god room.
”Computer. Blade training 101 for Sam.” the room whirred to life lights dimmed then got brighter as things started to appear around them. Training dummies that were targets a small obstacle course and then of course a long wall of blades of all types. Small pocketknives to spears and swords what ever she could have wanted it would be on the wall. They were also standing now in the middle of a ring for sparring.
Sam didn’t bother grabbing any of them until Lenna decided what she wanted to do. If anything she’d be more amazed at the change of scenery unless she had seen something like this before.

The armor looked a bit bulky to Sam, maybe cut down on his reaction time but it probably made it way safer to engage in anything. Sam raised an eyebrow and smirked, ”I’m always using the danger room.” he said his hand still on the blindfold. ”I’m cool with it. Unless Serena or Mirror sent you.” he was tired of them beating him in any session. It was clear his older self was a great teacher.
”Can I still think you look like a dork?” Sam asked his free hand stretching his other arm while he caught his breath. ”Shin.” he committed the name to memory along with the armor. Old Sam mentioned him frequently in the ‘while you were older’ files. Apparently they were good friends so that either meant his current self was going to love him or hate him.
”De-aged.” he said and shrugged, ”Lost a decade.” he shrugged, ”Meaning I’m just getting up to speed on everything here. Except for the Jet. I’m the best with that.” he said knowing most of the X’s were capable with it however he was the best. He proved that with Mirror.
”I’m always up for joint training. Keeps me on my toes.” he said as he walked closer and offered his free hand for a hand shake.

Sam scanned the area she noted for him. It took a second but he noticed a light go on and off briefly. If he had to guess, ‘a bathroom’. Sam waited till a few ‘crew workers’ walked past. They had the helmets and vests but they all had a side arm just under the vest. Defiantly not construction union approved. Pushing himself up from the wall he quickly and quietly made it to the window. No trace was left behind. The icemancer pushed his hands against the window ice already hitting the locks till they broke.
”I’m in.” he said looking around making sure no one was around. There wasn’t. Now was the time to activate his thermal sense as well. He didn’t want to be seen till he had Po in hand. That was the goal of him coming. He deserved a life as well.
Left, sharp right, stop avoid a now obvious T.A.T. agent. He had the earpiece and tactical belt. Sam cursed under his breath and waited till he went the opposite direction before taking the stairs. ”Keep at it kid.” Sam said as the door shut quietly behind him. Now was the time he wished he could go invisible. He was quick and quiet and was more versatile than most about avoiding detection but to be invisible that would have been nice.
Sam made it to the bottom level only having to slide down a flight once, as he passed the second floor the door opened and coupled with his thermal sensing he was told there would be three men coming. Sam didn’t want to deal with that, yet. Hopefully not at all.
”No, I don’t like being shot at.” Sam said flatly and quietly. He wasn’t sure if she was trying to make a joke or not. If she was, they’d need to work on her delivery a bit better. ”Powers don’t work like that, exactly.” Sam said condensing his powers to the door in front of him. The air around him in the stairwell became cold and heavy. Ice started to coat his legs as an ice clone started to form next to him.
”I can feel two of them but there are some small blurs off a bit more. I can’t tell what they are, meaning element of surprise will be best.” he hoped. There wasn’t much more he could do at this point. Straight lines are often the shortest route right?
”Ignore what you hear.” Sam said quietly as his ice clone burst towards the door. The door fell apart easily thanks to his power and when the clone entered the door a dense mist followed him into the room. Sam sent him towards the right guard and Sam quickly followed with the left. His ice clone knocked the unaware guard with ease while Sam had to drag his target back into the mist as his clone followed.
Three more guards were ready at that point guns drawing forward. “The hell was that?” “Intruder!””Calling it –“ the third one who was about to call gestured towards his ear and was met with a cold blast to the face with enough force to stagger him. The mist quickly moved forward from there and his clone charged into one of the guards as Sam forward and took the final guard with a serious of strikes. ”Yup. They had eyes on me.” Sam said going through and removing their guns and ear pieces and phones. He froze them in a pile then pinned the guards with ice before they could come to.
The mist remained as Sam looked around to the next door. Turning his back Sam erected a wall of ice from the door he just entered. Too late now, all it did would slow the oncoming guards, they would have figured it out when they came in the room anyways. No alarms were raised yet meaning he still had surprise on his side.
”Rooms clear.” Sam said as he obscured a camera. No thermal images registered to Sam. However that didn’t mean there wasn’t anyone. He put his back to the wall near the door to the next room. His clone of ice stood ready to run through.

”Rest of the passengers. Sam nodded his head agreeing with her. His hands still getting everything ready before he made the call for the distraction. ”It was Juniper’s idea. She asked if she could bring some friends and I thought, you would enjoy some ocean view scenery. You can thank me later.” Sam grinned as he held up the walkie-talkie.
”Go time kid, get out of there.” he turned the engines on and opened up the runway, that lead out. Sam grinned waiting till Juniper entered behind them.
>>>"We ready for take off, Captain?"
”Yes we are. Clear skies and the beaches should be some choice waves.” he said closing up the ramp. ”…..” the engine started to roar and Sam noticed some color for a second then shut his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Mentally shaking the thought off he was about to take off then he heard her voice.
Sam looked over and then saw what he thought he saw threads. His jaw clenched shut and a his eyes lit up like he just saw a ghost. Luckily his aviators might have covered it from Cora at least. ”mmmmmm…****” he said under his breath finally realizing this was probably the worst situation he had ever been in his life, which was saying a lot given his past. Sam had slept with at least half of the people in the jet. He was too afraid to look anywhere else.
The cockpit grew cold as his face started to coat in ice, aviators included. ”n-Not a party at all.” Sam said his voice cracking slightly and snapping forward. Ice coated his neck a little and then he threw the throttle forward sending the jet down the runway and into the sky. ‘Eyes forward Sam, everything is fine.’
He remained silent literally still freezing up, not sure what to say. Until he broke the ice one of the best ways he knew how ”Cora…. “ Sam smirked, ice still ”You look great.“ an extra chill was sent to everywhere that wasn’t Cora. He’d need to talk to Juniper at some point. Alone.

”What we are here for.” Sam smirked, ”Take it’s a big one?” he asked having a feeling it was or she was just a hardcore fan of one of them. Neither his younger form nor his older form watched sports, he’d play them but as far as watching them goes if they were on he’d glance at it otherwise he was usually oblivious to any form of sports fandom.
”Australia?” Sam repeated nodding his head. The accent did sound familiar but that might have been because he was in New Zealand recently and between the gunfire he might have heard some similar ones, however it was hard to focus on the accents over gunfire.
”That’s cool! I was just in New Zealand recently, for work,” Sam said trying to attempt small talk, they weren’t the furthest from each other and the last time he was in Australia was a few years ago again mostly he remembered was the missions.
”Let me know when you are ready to order.” Sam said grabbing his beer and walking a few bar spots down so it didn’t feel like he was hovering over her. He turned towards the television and watched the game for a second trying to recall the rules to the game.

The icemancer smirked when she said she wasn’t going to introduce him. ”Do I really need any introductions?” Sam asked as he hurried the princess along literally jumping stairs at a time. He had been wanting to take the X-jet for a spin again and the destination and potential scenery was all the better. ”And no I don’t want to meet your cousin. Flattered though, doubt Id mesh well with royalty.” he checked his phone on the time then smirked.
Sam rounded to the basement the princess should recognize the basement corridor consider the first time the met it was in the danger room. His thermal sense didn’t detect anyone in the hallway. Sam exhaled some mist and crouched a little out of habit when he tried not to be scene. He looked in the hallways and then resumed walking in the hallway normally still trying to recall some of the mist. ”Flying somewhere not Atlantis.” he said smirking.
Instead of turning towards the danger room hallway he turned towards the X-hanger one. Long and overdone metallic covered the hallway walls of metal until the doors. Sam looked up to the doors camera then waved to the camera before blasting it with cold covering their entrance where Sam happily used his old X-Man I.D. number he had been saving to get into the restricted areas.
Now was the time to double down. Sam gotten caught in the X-jet with Juniper once. The icemancer was positive the X-men wouldn’t be too mad about this. He hoped Becca wouldn’t be too upset with him; he was nice enough to request a letter be slipped under the door to let her know he was planning on brining it back.
The metallic doors whooshed open and Sam repeated his firing of ice blasts at cameras as they entered. ”Some of it might be for show.” Sam said as he started to run to the jet. Other than his phone everything he needed was already on the jet waiting for him. He might have done some earlier recon, which also turned into needing the sizable distraction.
”Obviously you can see there is a little rush.” Sam said waving to the princess and running up the ramp. He didn’t waist any time to get into his captain’s chair. ”Please get seated and prepare for take off.” Sam said firing up a few switches and cranking the engines on. Sam stopped and pulled out his old school aviators and gave the princess a thumbs up. ”Just waiting on the rest of the passengers, sadly there will be no inflight movies. However inflight entertainment will be provided.”

Sam sipped the beer and tilted his head slightly to the entrance. He didn’t ‘see’ who it was but could tell from his thermal sense it was a woman. Setting his beer down and turning towards the woman that entered he offered a wave and then nodded his hand. ”Yo.”
Detecting an accent, not sure from where until she mentioned Sydney. That at least gave him some direction to the accent. ”Sure thing.” he grabbed the remote set it down on the bar and grabbed the beer. Twisting the top and placing the beer before her he pitched the bottle top.
”We do got some food.” Sam smiled, ”If the cook isn’t sleeping back there.” he called out. There was some muffled yelling in the kitchen, and a few pans shaking around. He didn’t know the cook long but apparently he too was a good friend to his older self. How they met and the cook was always dismissive of the subject but the clamoring in the kitchen meant he was up.
”We got food.” it wasn’t much but it was in his opinion as someone who was on the run for the last two years a solid menu. Bar food and breakfast foods. The main staples of anyone who likes to eat and lie low. Sam offered up the menu to her and turned towards the television grabbing the remote. ”I’m Sam.” he found the channel and changed it for her from the history channel. ”There we go.”
Turning towards her he then asked grabbing his own beer and taking a sip. ”Accent’s from where?” he asked curiously.

Juniper was indeed brilliant, if she didn’t know it he’d tell her later but he had been meaning to take the jet out for some time and what better way than to hit a vacation destination. While he had never been to Hawaii Old Sam had. Each time had been more epic than the last so he was in high expectations as to what was going to happen. Juniper would be there meaning there would be fun.
More fun yet he decided to double down on any potential friends with benefits interactions and ‘bumped’ into the princess. Since the first time he walked from her room with a bag of loot he decided he was all right being a concubine. There were benefits now more so for her when he decided to invite her along being his friend meant free trips on the X-Jet. Sam knocked on the door after texting her while still talking to his best student Eve who was standing beside him. ”I don’t know? Come up with something other than burning down the science lab. They just fixed it.” Sam stopped talking when the door flew open in a very dramatic fashion. Classic princess.
”Atlantean's wear swimsuits right?” Sam smirked, ”Grab one, and a overnight change of clothes. Don’t ask where we’re going because we don’t have a ton of time. Before we got to roll, I’ll wait.” he said leaning on the doorframe holding up a finger before going back to talking to Eve.
After a moment of conversation they had decided and Eve ran down the hall excitedly. She enjoyed pranks and this was going to be a good one. Sam didn’t know where she found all the Guinea pigs or how long she had been sitting on them but it was a great distraction. ”After my signal.” Sam said as he shook the other walk-i-talkie in his hand.
”Got to grab the ride before we go.” he said offering up his arm. ”Told you about the jet right?”

Mae. That name sounded familiar so did knife in the back. Both of which Sam half listened to as a drink was emptied and replaced further along the bar. Sam looked down to his phone hit sent and then flipped his phone over. A slight panic in his chest caused him to slam the rest of his glass. Jade refilled it then stopped and stared at the two at the bar before she leapt away from the flames. Strike one, Jade was new and didn’t need this on day one.
The flames were higher now. Erupting outward from the mutant. Clearly hoping to catch anything on fire that it came into contact with. Strike two. Sam’s nostrils flared as the glass broke and was used as a weapon. Strike three.
Jade, the bartender started to push herself up from the floor she leaned on the him and got a front row seat to his powers activating. ”mmmmm….. $$$$” already on his feet he pointed to her, ”Call the police, tell them Sam is already on scene at his damn bar.” that surprised the woman and she nodded her head. The air in the bar started to get colder as his arms coated themselves in ice.
”Hey! @@@holes!” he yelled cold ready to combat the heat. ”Bar is for drinking! You want to catch up, take it outside or I’ll take you both out there.” that was the only warning he was giving them. If they kept going and ignored him they’d quickly figure out why there was never any fights in his bar.

Once the van was shut Sam was already on the move, given the circumstances he had done everything he could have to prepare for this even brought Eve. Something he knew was going to bite him in the rear later, she was a kid after all and he was doing what he always said shouldn’t be done. He should have let her be a kid but Po’s life was on the line so there were circumstances that made him into a hypocrite. He’d think about that later.
Sam shot himself upward with an ice pillar and once he was comfortable with the building cover he decided to slide into an alley a few blocks from where Eve was. ”Mic check. Mic check one two.” Sam said into the mic as he landed and walked to the edge of the nearest building to get a look around. His face still visible as the skullcap hugged his head. He shifted from window to door and moved. ”Holmes… you reading?” still not sure if he was stuck on her codename.
Sam bolted across the street shortly after a windowless van passed by. Probably patrol to notify if anything was concerning. Sam was consider concerning so he didn’t let himself be seen. Sure enough the van led him to where he wanted to be. ”At south gate entrance. White van checking in and one checking out.” Sam relayed ”Try to watch out for them. If you see one hanging around let me know.” He’d do what he could to save Po but Eve was far more important, she had no business being here.
Sam ran up to the closest fence. Construction signs were posted everywhere notifying the public that there was an ongoing construction site. No one ever questioned man power or tools required. Ignoring the barbed wire he launched himself over the fence and avoided the lights. ”Coming up on southeast entrance. I see three stories all have windows. Whatchu got Holmes?” Sam said hugging a small brick wall.

It seemed things were going pretty well for today. His bar’s day manager had to call in last minute and seemed no one else was available because they put Sam in charge. Of a bar. When he was 19. Sam sipped his alcoholic beverage because his newest bartender Jade didn’t bother to card him. Heck he doubted she knew who he was. All she had been doing was complaining to him about stuff he listened little to.
The icemancer didn’t want to be rude but he was little preoccupied staring at his phone. It had been typed out for some time but he didn’t want to hit send yet if he did then there would be no going back and depending how this played out he’d either make someone very happy or make himself miserable.
Sipping his whiskey he noticed something was on fire as people moved away from the bar. It was a mutant and a bright one, at least as far as his thermal sense could tell. Made sense. While the mutant was on fire, he did not burn the place down so as owner Sam had no complaints. It seemed the guy even paid for a drink. Perfect.
Sam looked to his phone when someone sat next to the guy on fire. It was none of Sam’s business, his was more in the realm of romance.

It was a quite drive into town. If you could call it a town. There were some vehicles on the road but nothing too crazy for the most part the buildings all looked abandoned except for a few locals that refused to move out of a dying town. Most of the shops were closed and boarded up. Trash blew past the van as he turned down a side street the word ghost town came to mind.
Pressing the opener in the van the large steel doors opened to the side allowing them access to park the vehicle. When he turned the van off he turned to Eve who should have eyes everywhere in the building and outside of it. ”Keep a look out I’ll be right back.” he didn’t wait for a response but shut the door quietly behind him.
It took some time and the sealing of two upper windows and he was satisfied with the safe house. ”What’s the plan again so I know everyone is on the same page?” he asked forcing a smile. While she could probably read him like a book he wanted to continue to make it seem everything was perfect. Sam removed his X-communicator and handed it to Eve.
”Operation rescue Po is a go!” he said offering up a high five before he shut the van door behind him.
