The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ami did not stop Evelyn from throwing the sai. Honestly, the younger girl half expected her to. This wasn't a trial by fire, but she didn't have to throw rocks at least! That had cheered her up.
Watching the weapon go through the air gave her a moment of concern, but it faded as fast as it appeared. Evelyn knew the moment the weapon left her hand she was on target. The echoes functioned at such a fast pace, they were already guessing what would happen and the only surprise was when the impact hit the shirt. Not that she had ever watched the metal hit a person before, but watching it fall back seemed to confuse her powers a bit.
It fell back. Success! Well, sort of. [Pain.] Oh, crap. Evelyn watched as Ami brought the weapon back, eyes sharp on the other girl's stomach. "I...I don't know if we should. That looked like it hurt you. Maybe we should have started smaller." She was going to be in trouble if she had injured another student. Would Mirror find out? Evelyn was already wondering if she needed to find some type of security footage to erase.
Would Doc Prof really heal someone if she missed and stabbed them? She hadn't wanted to find out for real if that was needed.

The made their way to the Danger Room, and Evelyn felt more awake already. Standing in the middle of the room reminded her of training with Sam, and she tried not to scare Ami away by her delight when the Sai appeared. "It works! We probably should test on a target first, to be on the safe side..." Evelyn picked up the weapon, and they felt familiar. She suspected the room kept the light ones on preset for her right now. Did that mean the room knew she was there? Probably. Which meant Mirror probabyl got word she was here with someone she probably shouldn't have entered with.
Oh well. At least she got to try this once!
The targets showed up, basic bulls-eye displays made out of wood. Evelyn took her stance and the echoes reacted quickly. She threw, hit her mark. She threw again, same result. It was...honestly a little scary. Muscle memory and the echoes together had a way of making accuracy sort of spooky.
"Uh, where do you want me to hit you with this, anyway?" Evelyn asked, turning toward the older girl. She was assuming the hoodie was the primary target, so somewhere on the torso?
"If it doesn't take enough of the impact i don't want to cause too much damage. Uh, stomach?" Evelyn pointed to a spot near the belly button. If for some reason the clothing didn't stop the metal, it would cause a bruise at most.
Holding the weapon, Evelyn waited for Ami to either say go, or call it off. When the word came, she threw, and the weapon went right where they had discussed, like a magnet straight for a bulls-eye.
Evelyn had already learned getting around the city when you were this young sucked. She made a face and sighed, rubbing her forehead at the memory. "I had to get a frickin' booster seat to use a cab the other day. Do you know how hard it is to be taken seriously like that? Stupid height regulations. At least if I was back at my apartment the subway would be an option. You just need to get the right person to walk there with you. If you look like you're part of a family with other kids, they don't question it." She would never admit such techniques to other adults, but Jude already admitted to blowing up the mansion pool. Clearly, he had decent standards on what was acceptable.
When would she be able to come in? Evelyn mentally counted. Actually, the echoes did most of the counting. "Tuesday. Pretty sure they will find the melted equipment in the chemistry lab by them. Turns out, with enough electricity, things melt. But we made some reallllly cool glass sculptures out of sand." Evelyn smiled fondly at the memory. William had been pretty cool to hang out with too.
At the caution about organizing, Evelyn rolled her eyes and gave him a look. It was probably a very adult look for someone so little. "Paperwork may seem boring to you, but I spent the last week reading science books for fun. Information is...I don't know. Like a buzz. Being able to read things, sort things. I guess I like the feeling of solving problems. Not like, the x-men way of solving them. But, my own way. Problems that involve putting a puzzle together. That's what I like."
Evelyn looked down at the phone and the glowing message that was a promise of something fun. "Oh, trust me, I don't get scared away easily. If I want to do something, I find a way to make it happen." She picked up her prize, and grinned at him. "I'll see you Tuesday then!" She had to go find somewhere to hide the phone anyway before Mirror found her and she got scolded for her most recent crimes.
Giving a friendly wave, she disappeared back the way she had come. Hopefully, Jude would not regret letting her be part of the team.
Evelyn helped Doc Prof enough in her first week here, she shouldn't have been that concerned with injuring Ami. Although, she was certain the old man would drag her by her ear to detention if he found out she skewered another mutant playing with weapons in an unauthorized Danger Room session. But would it be worth it? Of course it would!
Evelyn grinned, and seemed to wake back up as she led Ami through the school. It didn't take long for them to land in front of some very impressive looking doors, and she hoped Ami still had the authorization to access what was inside.
"If it doesn't work maybe we can try some time with Sam. But he would probably make it a training exercise. I don't mind, but I'm not sure you want to volunteer for any combat drills." Evelyn had a sort of weird thirst for challenges, and was probably one of the only voluntary students for the ice mancer. She was also the one trying to break into the chem lab at night.
Actually, to most of the students in this school, she was a kid who presumably had her brains reshuffled in the deaging and came back 90% sociopath. She wasn't a danger...yet. But there was more than enough evidence she would be.
Evelyn considered what he said seriously. It did make a lot of sense in the long run for her to go back to her own place. She had the deed to the apartment, the money to keep it, for the moment. Plus, she did seem to get into a lot of trouble here. Would she do better on her own? It was hard to tell.
"I wouldn't say you don't have a good point. I think since coming back everyone just assumed I needed to be at the mansion and I didn't fight it. You just are the first one to think I could survive just fine on my own."
She smiled at him, a sort of rare genuine expression, and then sort of dipped her head in a way of acknowledging his offer to help. "Being able to help at BlacTac is a start for me. I don't have a full goal yet, honestly, but I feel like I have potential and I just want to find it. If I can help in the meantime, maybe it's a win win?" she looked down at the phone and grinned. "And who knows? Maybe you guys just really needed some Echoes to help with all the paperwork. They are really good at organizing!" she managed to brag.

Evelyn wasn’t surprised by much. There were very few situations she came across that just stumped her brain. Usually, she was smart to the point it was a bit frightening to people. Even if she didn’t know an answer right away, she always felt finding one was possible.
But watching William pull cursive glass letters from the sand was one of the most bizarre scientific tricks she had ever seen. ”I think this is the point where I have to admit I....I don’t understand this anymore. Wow. This is...” this was the strangest experience she had faced so far.
The echoes weren’t even trying. As if accepting she was facing something beyond their current knowledge let the echoes call it quits. Their understanding and hers just had to run on simplicity now. Imagine image, control path, and when he stopped, there it was.
”I used to think knowing everything is fun but, not knowing how this works...is nice, this time. It feels like magic. Like, how people feel when they see magic.” she admitted quietly.

Evelyn listened as the man agreed with the terms of the exchange. She could help solve the mystery, and other mutants could benefit from the answers. Then, if this could be reversed, he would not force her return to her adult life. That was all she really wanted in the end.
Putting her own books aside, she nodded. "My apartment isn't too far away from here. If I get it, where would I meet you at?"
There was nothing forbidding about exchanging crime evidence with a cockroach mutant, was there? Evelyn must be missing that gene that suggested any of this was a bad idea.
The syringe? Evelyn has dismissed that as being useless based on lack of fingerprints. She still had it, of course, safe at home. She knew someone might hope to study any residue to consider a cure, but had not been ready to give it to the wrong person. What use was it turning it over to an X-man who really had no leads so far? Was her one little clue going to bring down this phenomena? In her mind, it wasn’t, so why bother?
Greg, however, was not an X-men. He was a highly intelligent creature who had a friend.
”I could get it for you. I kept it at my apartment for safety. Could you really use it to trace its origins?” she was both interested, and a little hesitant.
”While I am an eager student and would enjoy solving this mystery, I also hope you realize my hesitancy harbors no ill-will. I...I like who I am, now. And the person they tell me I was feels like someone I am happier letting go of. Even if a cure comes, I want to continue growing at my own pace now. I hope you understand,” she tried to explain. It was almost an appeal. She would help, but she also wanted to be left to do things the way she was not. It was a struggle being young, but going back felt like a worse punishment in the end.

The premise of the situation was to exchange detention hours for time at BlacTac. Honestly, that seemed like it could be all the more reason to get in trouble, and she almost wondered if that was a flaw in the plan. It wasn’t like she made catching stuff on fire a regular occurrence. She just skirted around rules when possible, or when they were too meddlesome. Although, she did get into a fist fight the other day when a kid mouthed off to her and made fun of her echoes. That one had earned some trouble...
Maybe she didn’t need to try very hard to earn time to help her new friend.
Why did she live here? Good question, actually. ”I am utilizing resources for the moment. I own an apartment still, and I’ve made arrangements to keep it, but the school does have things I couldn’t get on my own. A chemistry lab, for one. The ability to train in the danger room, also. The library was useful but I think I’m reaching its limitations.” that made the promise of the cell phone so much more exciting. She could research without being limited to what texts the school had.
”I mean, I guess I don’t enjoy being here, necessarily, but I am limited by my physical age... you are the first person who has been willing to let me be useful.” she admitted.

Evelyn made sure she had her ears covered and the glasses on before William acted this time. As a result, she was able to see just fine when he brought the sculpture out. Her mouth fell open without being able to stop it. "That's amazing! How...how did you, I just....that's so cool." Even the echoes were having a hard time understanding. It was, a bit beyond the world of science as she had figured out now. Was he telling the electricity to turn? Was it moving through the glass as it formed? She wanted to know more, but figured even he might not know how to say what he was doing.
"I, I don't really know. Maybe a flower? Like a rose? Something commercial like that would be good practice. Like those little glass ornaments you see at stores all the time people eat up." Evelyn wasn't sure if he knew what she was talking about. She wished she had a phone to show him.
"Or try to write something? Just not your name. Unless you want a sculpture of your name." Evelyn said, considering.

Evelyn could see her reaction disappointed Ami but she wasn't going to fake interest. Yes, bending the needle was cool. In fact, the scientific side of her wanted to experiment more, but she was losing momentum.
"I...I can't say I've tried working out to that point. I've painted, but, that doesn't make them stop." Evelyn wondered if it was possible to work her brain to the point it wouldn't bombard her with memories? Lately she would try almost anything just to get a solution. But, Mirror had said she was like this in the past, too. What could she learn now that she hadn't mastered so many years before?
Ami threw a line to her though, and Evelyn lifted her head, looking surprised. "You would really let me throw things at you? What if I miss the hoodie? The only things I can throw on target every time are my sai, and those are in the danger room," Evelyn admitted. She had a dubious look now, wondering if Ami would consider letting a seven year old hit her with a pointy weapon. Sai were sort of like knives...
"No, it was a good test, I just, you ever get that feeling where all your excitement just like, deflates on you?" But throwing things had sort of been a second wind. She was trying not to get her hopes up too fast.
"You wouldn't happen to be able to go in the Danger Room, would you? Because, they probably have them saved in the computer..." she ventured hopefully.

Evelyn looked at the man. He didn't seem like he had been deaged, but then he continued and it made sense. He had met others like her who had been deaged. While he didn't have the same experience, he was trying to study it. Evelyn relaxed more. She was comfortable with science, and research. For her, the pursuit of knowledge was logical and positive.
"I don't mind pooling research, but I'm afraid my own findings are probably less involved than yours. While a few of my friends seem upset by the changes, I have actually enjoyed myself. Having a new start means the chance to learn faster, and technology now is much more accessible than when I was a child the first time."
While she lacked memories to compare, she could see signs that what she knew was true. Electronic readers, online data, all of that was accelerating her advancement. Then, there were the playbacks. She was making good use of those.
Greg, er, Mr. Sampson? She wasn't sure how to refer to him... asked what she had found. Evelyn considered, then tentatively held up a hand.
"I have a faster way of showing you, if you don't mind?" When he didn't seem to move away, she touched one of his arms. The feed to her playbacks took over, and she let her memory go back to what she had read. Information flashed past: memories of her own deaging, waking up in her apartment, passed out on a couch, a syringe clasped in her hand. Then she let her memory go to the police station: a single screen with open case information on de-aged mutants. She let Roach hear what she had been told by others: no one had changed back yet, others had experienced similar episodes of waking up with no memories, in places their adult bodies had been.
The echoes were there, picking out pieces, plucking details they deemed important. [Injection, syringe. Inhalation. Multiple methods. Ability to escape, lack of captivity. Chaos, uncertainty. No motive of drug and release?]
When she felt she had shared what she knew, she removed her hand, blinking to clear the memories. For both of them, each situation would feel real, as if they had been there. The details of the syringe were clear, the feeling of glass as vivid as the pen Greg was holding. The screen at the police station would be just as sharp, although the details had not told her much. The biggest question was why: who would do this and then just let them all go.
Evelyn wondered what it would feel like to wake up and your life had not just rewound, but was gone. For her, the world still knew who she was, but she didn’t. The ignorance was the salvation. Some days she hated it but if Jude was speaking to the alternative, this wasn’t so bad.
She was a polite listener much like he had been. The final phrase resonated though. She could be her own level of good. Like, Sam and Jude, and the adults she respected. They weren’t perfect, and she appreciated all the little pieces that shaped them. ”That helps,” she admitted. [Awkward. Uncertain at direction of conversation. Attempting to relieve serious atmosphere.] She gave him a rare smile. ”Sorry, I didn’t have much chance to talk with you before. It just felt nice hearing from someone who understood.”
He dropped the next piece of the reward. At least, to her it was a reward. ”BlacTac? Could I really? I don’t mind the commute! I have plenty of time to read and they don’t really like me in classes here. They say it’s not fair to the other kids because I’ve memorized the textbooks...” she blinked so she wouldn’t get sidetracked, and tried not to look too hopeful.
”When could I go? What could I do? Do I need to fill anything out? I mean, legally I’m an adult if it helps. My date of birth didn’t change even if I did.”
Evelyn didn’t have anyone she cared about the same way, but she could still understand how important the bunny boy had been to Jude. The echoes seemed to read emotions and translate them even when she had no current understanding.
In some ways, she felt she still had the capacity for things she felt as an adult. When she met Sam again she could have sworn she had missed him without remembering why. Some things translated when memories were gone, and grief had been a feeling she felt even her mind could not forget. If they had not rescued Zaid, Evelyn could have only imagined what would have happened. The place they visited said enough, and the horror Zaid had shown during the brief moments before she comforted him would be burnt into her playbacks.
The phone was a gift, a thank you. That she knew carried weight she would not take lightly.
Evelyn considered the concept of “good”. She made a face and sat, ”Everyone told me I was a good person in my last life. But, I feel as if I diverged from that. You had a similar experience, I assume. I don’t know how, or the details, but at least you remember. For me, it’s all just starting, but the expectations are already there. Someone I was but am not now.”
She looked at the phone, trying to put the words in place. ”I told someone once that it’s like the multi-verse theory. This time, this me has already branched from the old one. I don’t feel like a good person here, but, not really a bad one. Do you think that’s okay?” she liked Jude because he wasn’t entirely perfect. She liked that he seemed haunted a little too by expectations he couldn’t fulfill.
Evelym smiled about the jet, and then nodded to confirm the safety of the phone. ”Sam has been teaching me to throw Sai, and I am good at it. I feel like my brain already has the coding there and it just, falls back into place. But my muscles aren’t strong enough yet.” she complained.

Evelyn started to tell Jude how to double jump, but in the end, he lost anyway. It was for the better, she decided. Resisting the urge to stick her tongue out at the other children (she was too adult for such nonsense) she followed Jude out of the room.
[Object, right pocket. Electronic. Smart phone.] The echoes rambled as the gift was given and Evelyn's eyes widened.
"Can I really have this? And of course, William and I figured out how to connect to WiFi in the building, so I know the passwords, that won't be a problem. I just, won't it cost you money?" She was trying to read his face. She would know right away if he was hoping for something else in return. The gratitude was there though, and that was important. Her expression softened.
"Zaid seems to be doing a lot better though, and that's what matters. I don't normally get to do things that have any positive impact... At least this time, I didn't screw everything up." She wasn't sure why she felt so embarrassed around Jude. Normally she didn't care what adults thought. She would blow things up in this building left and right and just accept the consequences. There were only a handful of people she regarded with respect, and Jude was one of them. He had been the first to see her as who she was, and not just as an annoying kid getting in the way.
"And the adults here couldn't even keep me from taking jet fuel from the hanger. Do you really think I'd let them take my phone away?" Evelyn held it tightly, a look of stubbornness on her face. She would make someone listen to the entire Websters dictionary through a playback if they so much as reached for her knew gift.
