The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"You, ya little brat, are hardly in any shape to ask anyone, what the hell. Watch your mouth, kid. If I were in any shape to I'd wash your damn mouth out. Not like I'm short on soap, thanks to you..." she grumbled. "No ****, Sherlock. Yeah, I was the shirt. I was practicing controlling my shifting, adding my own little twist on things in the process, then you decide to come along and play good Samaritan. Or maybe you were trying to steal an odd band tee shirt..."
She glared, standing to her feet. "Of course it's your fault! If you'd left me alone I'd have been able to go about my business without ending up ass-up out of a washing machine!" She clenched her fists, wiping her mouth on her arm to rid herself of the foam.

Okay, it stopped, good. And the door opened. The purple shirt quickly began to grow and shift. In the blink of an eye, Paige was...half in, half out of the washing machine. At the moment, all that could be seen was Paige's soaking wet, skinny-jean clad butt sticking out of the washing machine as she flailed and fought to get out.
Finally, after a ton of splashing and kicking and swearing, she plopped out of the washer and hit the floor with a soggy mix between a thud and a squish. Hardly flattering, she was now drenched, and she'd been stuck in a freaking washing machine. Standing to her bare feet, she wrung out her shirt and brushed her hair out of her face to the best of her effort, blonde clumps still clinging to her face. Her eyes were red with anger and embarrassment, and after a fit of coughing, and bubbles forming around her mouth, rabid would have been a fitting term to describe her.
"The washing machine...you threw my ass...in the *cough cough* Washing machine?!? What the **** is wrong with you?!? I oughta--" After another fit of coughing, she slouched against the wall, sputtering and beet red with a mixture of feelings.

Before she could comprehend what was happening, Paige found herself dumped into the washing machine, doused with water, then tumbled about with the rest of the laundry. At this point, she was sooo glad she couldn't feel while in shift. But she could still talk.
"Hey! Turn this damn thing off! Get me out of here you little--" The chain of words Paige said next were hardly flattering, and best left out, especially in situations involving kids or people that looked like one.
"Turn it off, damn you! The purple shirt! The ****ing purple shirt!" Then again, Kid-friendly wasn't exactly Paige's forte. Though, perhaps it was better for the kid's sake if Paige stayed in there.

Paige suddenly found herself picked up and tossed into a bag of laundry. "Hey! What's the big idea?" She ranted and sputtered, but her voice was even more muffled than it usually was in shift because of all the clothes, it seemed. Her mutation was weird sometimes.
She tried to focus and shift back, but for some reason, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Her mind was so damn distracted lately...
Calm down, Paige...you can get out of this. Just calm down and shift. Then you'll be...stuck in a bag. Great...I'm screwed.

Paige found herself alone in the living room of the mansion, somehow. Who knew? Maybe everyone else had important crap to do or something. Unlike her, who spent her free time feeling down on herself or being given another reason to.
But it didn't matter that she was alone; in fact, she liked it that way, at least for what she was about to try. Mind you, it wasn't an idea as crazy as skinny dipping in the ice cold weather of the park, but it wasn't sitting around and reading "Shapeshifting for Dummies" either.
She noticed a quirk in her mutation; how sometimes it wouldn't work like she wanted it to, most notably when she was under pressure or her thoughts were occupied. For this exercise, as mentioned before, she was fully clothed. Well, in a Guns N' Roses tee shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans.
Taking a breath, the girl focused, thinking about the very shirt she was wearing. The size, the design, everything. But turning into an exact copy of the shirt wasn't fun, so she added her own touch to it. At least, in her focus she did. Time would tell if it worked or not.
In a flash, there was a shirt on the ground, much like the one she was wearing, only it was bright purple instead of black. Bingo.

"It's really not," she replied. "But that's how it goes. We're different, and the humans treat us badly. Some see us as inferior. Some claim so, but they really see us as a threat. Regardless...I think most of them are afraid of the unknown, or jealous of it." She shrugged.
"Ya know...maybe you're right. Become like an openly mutant organization. Music and art that gives our kind a voice. Backed by other mutants. I mean, if the humans can do it, why can't we?" A small, crazy smile flashed across her face.

It was bloody cold out here, and the thought came to Paige that this had to be one of her worst ideas ever. And to make it worse, she thought she heard footsteps. Then another set of footsteps. Then a splash. Oh crap! In a flash she was out of the lake, running for her clothes. Her body shivered from the cold breeze that picked up as her feet hit the icy grass.
But she couldn't find her clothes. She'd left them right here next to the lake! Without thinking, she shifted, and in a split second there was a beachball on the ground by the lake. The question that would remain unanswered was whether or not that was her intention. Well, at least she wasn't cold anymore. Hopefully nothing would pop her.

"Snake in the walls?! Why I oughta--" The spoon was cut off when Persi started stirring again, and the threats melded into strings of swears and insults, none of which really capable of being repeated.
Oh, when she wasn't upside down in a pot of chocolate, she was kicking somebody's asses. Or maybe she wouldn't. That would depend on how good the couple was at making fudge.

"True...I mean, it's funny how mutations work sometimes, isn't it? Some of us can't get it to work the way we want it, and others of us can't make it stop working." As she made it to the apartment, Paige looked at her, sorta. As well as an eating utensil could have, anyway.
"I change back when my emotions calm down completely...I think it's getting pretty close if we just keep talking. But..." She paused, tone softening. "I never properly thanked you. You know, for taking care of me after that thrashing..." Heh.

Paige nodded. "Yeah, same here. I chose to move to New York after my family was harassed on account that I was a mutant. Then I got a reality check real quick..." A smile crossed her lips as he seemed to like her idea. She loved how excitement was just as readable in his writing as it was in people's voices.
"Yeah. I feel ya there. It's good knowing you're not on your own. And hey, we can help achieve each others' dreams, in a way."

Paige made her way through the park, pulling her zipped blue hoodie tighter as she made her way through the lake, fighting the bitter January cold that New York was so stupid for. Heh...stupid. She was one to talk about that, wasn't she? Since she'd gotten to New York, all she'd done is get beaten up, made a fool of, and bested at what she once thought she was among the best at. No. In Los Angeles, she may have been top of the totem pole. Or maybe she wasn't; it was just her family name and their money making it seem that way. But here...she was nothing. She was weak.
Here, she had to make a name for herself. Get better, stronger. Toughen up. And what better way than what she had in mind? Okay, there were probably much better ways to do this. But maybe Paige had gone off the deep end. Or maybe she was crazy to begin with, who knew. Alright, Paige. Time to toughen up...
Unzipping her hoodie, she let it fall to the ground, followed by her tank top, shoes, jeans, and the rest of her clothes. At this point, the wind picked up a little and she began to question her idea. But standing naked in the park, this was no time to turn back. She gave one more quick look into the darkness to make for sure no one had seen her.
Then, gracefully, she dove into the lake. The ice cold, bitter, unforgiving lake. Butt naked. "****!" was the first thing she exclaimed, then bit her lip, swimming across the lake and then diving under for a spell. This was unbearable, but she had to do it. She had to.

Paige listened to the exchange from her vantage point in the pot. This was actually rather interesting. And then things shifted back to her speaking earlier, and the girl had to have fun with this.
"Yeah, you definitely heard someone," she answered, trying not to giggle. "It's uh...your conscience." Okay, so maybe that was lame. Dammit.

"Maybe...when I lived in California I thought I was all that. But I get here and realize I was just some spoiled brat with rich parents who got everything she wanted on a silver platter." She sighed, but then chuckled at the suggestion.
Hey, that's not such a bad idea. Maybe you can paint stuff for me and I can turn around and use them as album and poster art. Give you a cut of that on the sides too. Heh...tabloids...that may not be such a good thing," she finished with a small smile.

Paige nodded, propping her feet up as she listened, her blue hoodie doing a poor job at concealing the purple tank top right now. She noted the color change as he 'spoke', linking it to some sort of past pain. But she still found it to be a really cool mutation.
"My dream was always to become some world-famous guitarist. But right now I find myself stuck playing in the park or in some shady bar on a Tuesday night. I wish I could find a band to hook up with; you know, other mutants like me. Take New York--then the world by storm with our mad skills and occasional controversy." She gave a small sigh. That would be amazing...

Paige sighed, forcing herself to listen. She didn't think at this point that Seyta being pushed out of her mind was such a bad idea, but she was trying her best to be nice. Besides, most of the hostility was more than likely due to the immense blow the remnants of her pride took at the hands of the girl who now literally held Paige in the palm of her hand.
"Usually, I can. When over-emotional, I spork. If I try to shift but my mind is racing or I can't focus completely on my shift, I end up botching up...let's say a shirt, and getting a pair of underpants." She had to giggle at that. Soon, they turned towards some apartments. Having the radial vision was a cool thing, because she could see both Seyta's face and the landscape behind them.
