The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Heh...Psycho chick...Insane...crazy...she tended to hear those words alot in reference to her lately. Oh well. Maybe she was. "I didn't skip anything," she grumbled. "Okay...maybe...but I don't take lightly to guys almost twice my age hitting on me."
She sighed, then glared at each and every one of the men around her, even the wounded guy who was just now coming to, a little. "What's to misunderstand? He's like forty, called me doll, winked at me, then tried to grab me! That creep was trying to get in my pants, so I let 'im have what he deserved...End of ****ing story..."

Paige tensed, surveying her surroundings. She could always vault over a chair, dart across the table, and get outta there, but there was the chance she'd accidentally kick someone at the next table in the head. Oh yeah, she was screwed. As the guys started to advance, though, she heard a familiar voice, followed by seeing the face to match. Sam!
"I just looked over and saw this psycho-chick knock out our friend here..." One of the guys, a somewhat smaller man with a bald head and tattoos on his knuckles said.
Paige snorted. "Their friend decided it'd be fun to hit on a nineteen year old. I said no, he didn't get it, so he got a bottle to the side of the head," she explained to her friend.

The good news was, Paige had finally got an act in a better-known bar, and on a Friday night, at that. The bad news was she was just opening with a little three song set before the real talent came on. She gave it her all, opening up with Fade to Black, then Rainbow in the Dark, and finishing it off with Sweet Child o' Mine. A smile crossed her face as she packed up the black electric guitar Sam had given her awhile back. She felt like she was at the top of her game for the first time in a long time. Nothing could stop her. Even though she was still getting over some confidence problems, as far as music went...she was still on top of the world.
Or at least she thought so until the main event, some band of wannabes, each wearing a different band tee-shirt, took the stage. Well...Paige thought they were, until they started playing. It was then that she ordered a coke(being under age sucked), and sat at a table, staring at it and trying to shut out the world.
"Hey doll, you--" "Not in the mood, I'm nineteen, I don't like guys," Paige interjected before the man who'd tried to hit her could even finish his sentence, much less sit down after setting down his beer bottle. Her green eyes met his; he had to be about thirty. Gross...
"They're all true, just take the one that'll make you go away faster," she growled. This guy was probably six-two, two-hundred fifty pounds. There was no way she could take him, but she really wasn't in a mood to be messed with. Then again...was she ever?
His hand reached out towards her, and in a flash Paige reacted. "I said No!" she shouted, her hand grabbing his bottle and smashing it against the guy's head. He went down to a knee in a shower of broken glass and cheep bear as three guys at the next table jumped up.
"Hey...that ***** just knocked out Kevin..." Paige gulped as they drew closer to her. "Ooohhh...****...." Oh yeah, picking a spot next to a wall was a great idea...

"Let's see...that's ten...plus my...six fifty in change...that's sixteen fifty, plus your...twenty-two fifty....Thirty-nine dollars, divided by two is fourteen fifty each..." Paige calculated, only being able to deal quickly with money due to her time at the coffee shop. After she was done with her math, she listened carefully to Seyta as she spoke.
God...am I being recruited into a cult? Or a gang? Or... She shook these thoughts away as she continued listening. It sure sounded like one of those two...
But she was promised something she'd otherwise probably never have. Power. An edge. Which meant she'd get her confidence back. That was important.

"You think about it and I swear to God I'll kill you," Paige hissed, which...wasn't that intimidating, coming from a spork. She let out a sigh, wondering what the heck she should do now. Calming down and turning human was of course first on the list. Until then...well...verbal abuse worked.
"You know what...screw you. You've helped enough," she grumbled.

Paige found herself crying again, trembling. Her mind was reeling. 'Breakdown' was the only word that could describe what happened next. Mental, emotional, psychotic, all three...who knew?
"Sorry...yeah. Just like everyone else. Sorry like everyone else who ever kicked my ass, or made me turn into a spork, or threw me in the washing machine....who cares? right? Who ****ing cares?" She flailed in a fit of emotion. Too much emotion, because at that point, she defaulted, shifting into a spork.

Paige giggled a little as Seyta jumped. "That takes a bit of getting used to, apparently." The girl grew silent as Seyta spoke, listening intently. "I have no idea what you're getting at, but whatever it is...sounds intriguing," the girl replied, chewing on her lower lip. "But...what do you mean...conditions? What kind of conditions?"
She blinked at Seyta's offer, but walked over, opened her case, and pulled out the money she'd brought in, setting it on the table as she sat back on the couch. "Sure, but all I got is a five, a handful of ones, and a ton of change," she murmured, picking through the pile of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.

Paige shook her head. "No one I can think of, really. Not that it even matters..." She sighed burying her face in her knees again. This is what she'd become; she used to be so tough, and now she was crying in front of some stupid kid who'd thrown her in a washing machine. Oh and she was soaking wet and smelled like freaking lavender soap. Some tough chick now, huh?

Paige let out another sigh, plopping on the ground and burying her face in her knees, hugging them close to her chest. "I don't know what I'm trying to do anymore..." she murmured. "I didn't mean to hit you, I just...did." She mentally had to admit it usually made her feel better, hitting something or especially somebody. But this time...it didn't do a thing but make her feel worse. Maybe she was insane. Maybe all of this was just too much for her.

"Well, try or not you did one damn good job of it. Most people don't bother picking up others' shirts anyway." She let out another sigh, backing off; she kept reminding herself it was only a kid and therefore she shouldn't punch him.
But for whatever reason, she did anyway. Okay, so technically she didn't punch him. She slapped him; not hard, but it wasn't a pat on the cheek either. Maybe it was because of his attitude. Or maybe it was the fact that he wasn't a fan of Guns N' Roses. Who could tell.

"Yeah...all I can do is turn into random crap, and I can't even do that right the majority of the time...Though...I can't imagine my life without it. Even though it's not particularly intimidating...it's who I am, and there's a confidence that comes with it." She smiled lightly, nodding.

Finding herself set on the sofa, she began to relax. "Happens to me alot, here lately, it seems. Ever since I came here, anyway. Back in California...I was on top. One of the best. Here...I'm nothing. Nobody..." She sighed, rubbing her temples.
Yes, temples. Just that quick, the spork was a girl again. "An edge...that's what I've been looking for for God-knows-how-long. All I seem to find are ass-kickings, though..."

Paige nodded, or...would have, if sporks had joints. She silently acknowledged Seyta's statement, understanding. "Yeah...I know how that can be. As much as I hate the term 'helpless' being used to describe me..." She sighed, thinking. "You can just set me down somewhere, and I'll shift back soon, I think. I gotta say though...you play the hell out of that violin," she commented, swallowing her pride enough to not only admit her defeat, but acknowledge Seyta's skill.
Inside, she still felt defeated, worthless. Like she wasn't good enough. She had respect for Seyta's kindness after the battle, but she had to make sure this wouldn't happen again. Somehow.

Paige glared; her eyes and face were both bright red, her hair and clothes were sticking to her body, and she was leaving a puddle of water where she stood. "I don't know!" she practically shouted. "If it wasn't a person, someone probably would have come back looking for it. So you should have minded your own business anyway." She sighed, backing away.
"Besides, have you ever seen a bright purple Guns N Roses shirt? No. Never trust an oddly colored band tee." She rubbed her temples, this was just great. Reduced to arguing with a kid about doing laundry.

"It's different!" Paige argued. "I'm a grown-ass woman," after this, she stuck her tongue out, in a very mature fashion, mind you.
Stepping to him, Paige stuck her nose to his, deciding it was best not to punch a brat right now. As much as it would ease her stress and make her feel better...no. Not right now, anyway.
"I have no idea," she finally said, her voice calm, yet edgy. "You're the criminal mastermind, not me."
