Flying overhead Darius saw who he thought was Eaen one of his new friends at the institute, he swooped down the wind rushing through his hair and came to a stop above Eaen and began to circle him. "Eaen what the heck are you doing out here, and whats with all the rocks" Darius yelled hoping Eaen would hear him over the noise and giving him a wave. Darius was confused to what Eaen was doing all the way out here and why he was using his powers so openly.
"Great well I'll meet you in the carpark at one k, Ill catch you around" Darius said as he headed towards the exit giving Layla a wave on the way out. He had to go and get prepared, he didn't quite know what might go down on this little trip of there so he had to be prepared which meant wearing a t-shirt that he would be able to get his wings out of.
Darius nodded again, it sounded interesting but at the same time he was worried he had never met this Benny that Raph talked about but he got Darius's nerves twitching even before they met.
"Okay I promise you I'll make sure nothing happens to her, ok well I'll see you at one in the carparkm were taking Layla's car aren't we I'll go see her now, I'll catch you round Raph" he said as he jogged over to where Deathstar was standing and gave the departing Raphael a wave. "Hey where taking you car aren't we" he said as he got to where she was standing still looking a little puffed after the intense training.
Darius nodded "I understand, but I hope you know I won't just leave you there I'll make sure I come back, I swear, I never leave a man behind" Darius said as he looked over his shoulder at Layla who he was sure couldn't hear any of there converstaion. "So what days is this all going down on?" Darius asked.
"The city" Darius paused for a second, he had longed for an excuse to leave the mansion for awhile and it seemed to have finally cropped up. "Sure Raph you just let me know when you ready, you've got my cell don't ya, well anyway I'm gonna hit my room now I'll chat to you about it later, you know the details times, places etc. so I'll catch you round Del" Darius said louder now that only Deathstar remained and before he left he pause because it looked like Raphael had more to say.
The man who called himself Deltoid approached Darius who was quickly trying to hide any sign of dismay. They both have probly had it hard, its how they have grown up Darius thought to himself, I have no right to put views apon them as I have only been here for no longer than a month, the time to talk will come but it is not this day Darius thought in his own mental converstation with himself.
Raphael pulled Darius aside and turned him away from the girls. He then said in alow voice that he had a favour to ask which Darius immediatly responded "A favour, sure and as long as your on my side I will always be able to grant them for you and anyone Raph" Darius said quitly as he looked over his shoulder to see if the girls could hear them at all.
Darius saw Layla look up to him with a smile and Darius managed to force one out although he could to it must have looked fake from her reaction. He turned around and walked out of the room before rushing down to greet his comrads. The door to the danger room zipped open and inside he saw two very tired looked mutants and one that looked as though he just woke up. Darius quickly diverted his eyes from Rapheal and gave Layla a nod and wave.
"Uh...congrats Star" he said uncomfortably before waling over to the new girl who was slightly older than himself. "Hi there name Darius Spears" he said as he gave her a welcoming handshake "You did really good out there, I mean that...for all of you.., hey when you all ready just let me know and I'll be glad to join you" he said trying to keep himself from looking at ether Star or Deltoid, the room had a tense awkward silence now and Darius tried to keep his mind off it by inspect the danger room, the size was amazing and it was completly empty but Darius knew that just under the floor lurked an arsenal of traps and weapons.
Darius stood silent in the now dimmly lit observation room. Dum founded by the capabilites of the danger room. He just stood there, quitely watching the fight. The new guest seemed to have it all under control at the beginning but slipped up at the end, but that didn't matter, because she fought differently than the other two and he admired that.
Not once did the newcomer attempt to kill or seriously injure her opponites may they be real or not. Darius than began thinking to himself, Layla took a life without a second glance, she broke the neck of one and rid two others of the lifeforce killing them.....Darius was shocked the girl he thought he was close to and was beginning to understand just threw in a whole new side, killing so recklessly, Darius began to think that he might have join the wrond place. Thoughts began to pop into his headAre Raph and Layla the only two that fight like this here!?? but the more that Darius began to think new suspisions arose in his mind.
He hadn't been trained to fight here yet, he suddenly had doubts of the institution Do they really teach the students here to kill, what about using abilities for a greater good Darius thought to himself. All of his life he idolised the famous X-men, there beliefs...there morals but not here..they where different, killing...and yes it was only a training mission but Darius suddenly began to think about how the new X-men would opperate in the world. He stepped backwards, his image of the facilty was shattered in a moment.
Darius was trying to rashonalise now, Maybe its only Star and Raph, Tricity wouldn't stand for this.....would she?? but as Darius thought that very thought another arose, he hadn't knowen Tricity that long and began to question her in his mind. The X-men stood for all thats good in the world, killing should always be a last resort if a resort at all, thats why the world fears and hates us mutants. He finally thought he found home but the cruleness of death seemed to follow him.
The new girl! Its not too late for her, the way she fights I can tell she still hasn't been tainted for lack of a better word, if we become the killers than were no better than the ones that we are trying to stop, Dad always used to tell me that, I'm sure that Tricity feels the same why else would Xavier trust someone her age with such a important role, I've gotta try hang on, I'll talk to them once they have finished, I'm sure theres an explanation....I really hope there is one he thought as he shook his head in dissapointment as he watch what was left of the fight continue.
After hearing Deathstar talk so much about the Danger Room Darius just had to check it out for himself so he started by asking around a number of different of students which all pointed him in different directions but eventually he found himself on the bottom floors of the Institute walking down a long metalic corridor. It's got be close now he thought as he felt the coldness of the metal chill him slightly. Then he heard the voice of Deathstar yelling something loudly at Tricity the Headmistress.
Ha I'd never find anything around here if it wasn't for her and that voice of hers he thought laughing to himself before seeing the door to the viewing room about to close Darius managed to slip in just before it did. "Hey Star" he said while heading over to stand next to her. The sight below was almost awe inspiring, The X-men!, the ones he had heard so much about, his heros where all there in the room next to them. "Wow look at them all I'd never had dreamed of seeing them all training together like this" he said smiling at Deathstar as he leant on the railing trying to see as much as possible.
After walking the halls and going up and down many sets of stairs to Darius relief he finally came apon a sign with the words DocProf stuck to the wall pointing down the hall. "Finally" Darius said out loud as he approached the door and knocked twice before sitting down on a bench opposite the door. I all reminded him of his mother as she worked in a hospital as a nurse. He would go there everyday after school just to walk her home. A small tear slowly began to form in the corner of his eye.
He missed his Mother, he had not seen her since she went into hiding about five years ago. It was the first time he was really alone at his stay in the mansion and the empty hallways were soon to be filled with the echo of Darius crying to himself. It was all slowly coming out of him, for so long he had held it all in, the loss of his Father his friends, and his Mother having to leave him because Darius chose to fight back, to fight back against the oppresive government that had his family held and planned to exterminate them like all the other mutants of his country.
He wasn't just weaping for Mother he was weaping for his home, all the mutants that were destined to death. At birth they would be taken and disposed of, they were made to look like still births, this is how they planned to rid his home of mutants, the so called abomination his country prides its self on having none of. They vanish, never to be heard of again, even worse is that it becomes as though the never existed. Darius slammed his fist down on the bench.
"I left them, I left them all sentenced to die.....how could I" he said under his breath as he wiped his eyes and sat up straight. He heard a noise from inside the office the Doc must have heard his knock and there was no way Darius was going to allow himself to be seen crying.
Darius detected a hint of disapointment in Layla's voice. He couldn't be with her, not yet there was still one last secret, and it couldn't be told, he had to protect her, if she knew anything could happen to her. They would come for her, its for the best he thought to himself. "Yeah it will be good for us to get out, I get a little cramped in here, even if it is a mansion" he said trying to kept the mood uplifted.
"It seems we all hurt" Darius said as he stood up of his bed and knelt down before Layla "Don't you worry I'm not the same person I was back then "Thats why I left, to find hope, to find people that cared for our kind, thats why I was shocked to see in the danger room that things weren't so different, I'm sorry if you have lost your faith in me but look things will work out, they always do and you cannot blame your parents death on yourself the blood is on your sisters hand not yours" he said as he grabbed her hands again standing up. "Come cheer up where going to the city with Delly soon, I'm sure he wouldn't want us both mopping around with him" he said trying to get a smile on her face. "Layla know that you can always trust me I'll always be there to listen, and to tell you the truth im not ready for a relationship yet ether, so friends??" he asked with a smile on his face looking down at Layla.
The ordeal, I hoped nobody would noticed the way I reacted, I guess it was inevertable though he thought as he sat down next to Deathstar. "I....I just happened to notice the way that you and Raph fought but you more notably, and don't worry I know it was only training and not real but...to take a life..Star I thought I knew you better,Me you and Raph had this talk in the dining room, I know you haven't killed but I'll let you in on a little secret, I have Star!" he said sounding flusted "It...it never helps anyone, I see there faces at night Layla...sure they were evil men but taking there life playing god....I had my abilites over them, with great power comes great responsiblity, our lifes our choices our action influence the course of the entire world.......
I was fighting for mutant freedom but all I got for mutant kind in my country was pain...more suffering" he said louder than before clenching his fist "I thought I was doing the right thing but please trust me killing gets you nowhere...I was so lost back then, I had just lost my Father and my Mother went into hiding..our kind was hunted down like vermin...exterminated" Darius paused he was oviously upset "I thought I could end it...I..me Darius Spears assasinated the Primeminister with the help of a rouge mutant terriost group called Avalanche...I thought it would finally end there but no...a tyrant more evil and vindictive than the first took his place...all immigration into my country came to a sudden halt all exporting and import stopped aswell, we where isolated from the rest of the world this was when propostion numer 38 was taken into affect, it was voted for by the people aswell, my action to take the orginal Primeministers life was used as a catalyist to fuel the nation into anger and fear..."
"Number 38... the eradication of all mutants inside the country" he paused again to wait for Layla to take it all in "I kept questioning how could the world let this happen, this atrosity but it wasn't the first time the holocost in world war two happened unnoticed for so long. And if there where no mutants left then the story couldn't be told....even birth was controlled, the second a child was born unaware to the parents it would undigo tests to determan wether or not the child had the mutant X gene in them, the parents would then be lead to believe that the child had not survived...died of "Natural causes" and they believed it all of them did, the government fed it to them and they took it all...#38 worked all mutants were eradicated through numerous plans, viriuses, camps etc all of them gone save one last group."
"Avalanche, we survived by taking no chances with humans, if one stood in the way then we would take care of them just like they had done to us with no remorse "blood must hath blood" as our leader used to say, so do you see just one death can leave to the deaths of millions, , Layla this is alot for you to handle I know but I trust you with this secret it was my fault all of it that one death to started lead to the death of almost an entire raceand I must live with that, everyday of my life!, You are the only one who knows outside the nation, and it must be kept that way for now, if it wasn't for a "Divine Intervention" I would still be there now..believe me blood can be washed of your hands but the stain remains...and that Layla is my secret...thats why I can't stand killing and I know you haven't in real life yet or so you told me..and I want to keep it that way for you as long as I can..I care for you Layla and I know your better than this." Darius finished as he rested his hand on hers as a tear trickled down his face.
Darius was lying on his bed looking out of the window at the snow fall which softly brush itself against the window. He longed to touch the skies but the current weather had kept him grounded for sometime. He heard a knock at the door and slowly sat up and moved his legs of the bed, he then reached into a bedside table and pulled out a hair tie which he wrapped his hair behind him in. His feet touched the floor which was freezing even while wearing socks, it was almost as though Iris had froze the floor he thought to himself. He slowly walked over to the door and turned the knob which stuck to his skin slightly. He smiled as he opened the door to find Layla on the other side. "Hey" he said quitly as he opened his arms to give her a hug.
He closed the door behind him leaving Deathstar and Raphael outside. Wow this place is incredible and those two sound like they could become good friends. He thought as he looked all around his new room, it had a double bed with two beside tables pn ether side one hadan alarm clock that Darius knew would come in handy, on the other side was a telephone. Darius threw his coat onto the couch that was backed against a window over looking the mansion grounds.
The storm was still howling outside. Darius was hoping it would let up tomorrow so he could get some flying in. Over in the corner of the room was a cabinate with a small T.V ontop, Darius flicked it onto a music station and turn the volume down low as he got changed into some of the schools pajamas. He pulled back his sheets of his new bed wonder who may have stayed he before him but his eyes slowly closed involentary immediatly falling asleep and began dreaming of what would come in the days to pass.
The noise of birds and light beaming through the window woke Darius up. I always love that morning sun, wonder if my stuffs here yet Darius thought to himself he picked himself up out of bed and got changed back into his clothes from the night before which were still wet. God I really hope my stuffs here cause these clothes are starting to smell Darius thought as he opened his door. To his relief there was a number of boxes ranging from small to large stacked outside he picked one of them up and brought it in and began to tear it open. Inside was a whole lot of his clothes which he immediatly threw on and stuffed his wet stuff under his bed. Hmm I promised Deathstar I'd let her help set up I better go find her, shes probly still in her room like she said. Darius pulled the rest of his boxes inside and close the door and set off to Stars room.
