The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shade's smirk faded at Syn's words. His eyes narrowed as his eyes traced down her face from her green eyes to her throbbing jugular vein. One little slip of his knife could slip that blood across the floor. His eyes jerked back up to her face before he broke into a smile again. However, this time his eyes betrayed his face as they still held a stern gaze.
"How about we leave my past where it is? And I wouldn't ask about yours. All you need to know is I'm a loyal servant and can take orders well." Shade said as he continued to hold that evil smirk.
"What can I say there isn't much to tell. I was a victim of foster care system. Got in trouble with the law on several occasions. Although they couldn't hold me for long." Shade said, his smile widening for a moment.
"Oh...why is that? You seem pretty innocent to me." Shade remarked. A nurse walking close coughed several times when he overheard Shade's comment before continuing out of the room. The blue eyes of Shade watched the man disappear before turning back to Syn.
"I guess I could be wrong." Shade said with a smirk.
Shade raised an unseen eyebrow at the thought of six huge, red men with large tails all thrashing around. It would be a heck of a site to see. However, Syn's next question made Snipe snap back into reality.
"I'm not so sure you want to know more about me. I'm not really a nice guy." Shade said with a grin.
"I thought so." Shade said simply with an evil smile. He too had many images flash through his mind of possible tasks Syn might require his assistance on. Tasks that were not unlike the devilish plans Syn herself was imagining.
"So I guess you have taken up residence here with all the other refugees since the Sanctuary was attacked?"
"To be honest, I don't really know. And never really thought about it too hard. Too busy doing other things." Shade said with a smirk casting a glance between the two of them then over to a passing nurse.
"But it might be like a solid shadow if there such a thing. That is the only thing I can think of it is." The mutant said with a shrug before a queer look pasted across his face.
"Wait, there are more of you?" He said towards Mars.
"Well, I would love to show, however..." Shade glanced up at the large ceiling lights.
"It is a little too bright in here for me to display my full talents. Although, I can show you this." Placing his hand into the pocket in the front of his hoodie, the knife materialized just inside his hand. Drawing the black blade into the light, Shade held it up for Syn to see. After the third second, the dagger disappeared in a wisp of smoke.
Shade lowered his voice as Syn pressed her finger to his lips. He should have known better. At least, he wouldn't be repeating that mistake any time soon.
"I've been searching for you because I rather enjoy your policy towards humans and would like to join with you. I visited with those mutants from the mansion. They were too controlling. Wouldn't let me do anything fun." Shade finished with a smile.
Shade's smile grew larger as he saw Syn approach. He slid his hood off his head, deeming it better for a proper introduction. His shaggy blonde hair fell into his blue eyes as they locked onto Syn's green ones.
"I guess you can say that. You are a little harder to find with the Sanctuary gone. I met your secretary, Lisa, I believe. She was the one that directed me to 'Teresa'. She and I infiltrated a mutant collection facuilty. Well truthfully, she infiltrated it while I was the distration. I think I did too good of a job. That devilish machine almost caught me."
Great, Shade thought to himself. hopefully I don't have to fight one of those beast machines everytime I wish to meet someone new.
"Mars...well, you are rather red." The wounded man remarked.
"Tell her Shade will be waiting for her. Although, I think I'll get dressed for the occasion." Shade said as he slowly sat up. Grabbing the grey sweater hanging at the corner of his bed, he carefully slid it on as he grimaced slightly from the pain in his side. Shade could feel the cool darkness speard over his body again. He gave an evil smirk at the feeling. Man, he liked that feeling.
"I met her in a coffee shop near Central Park. I can't remember the name of it right now." Snipe shifted uncomfortably in his bed as he tried to readjust the wrappings as not to bother him so much.
"So, you can set up a meeting? Wow, you would do that for me? Heck we only met three minutes ago. Although I never did catch your name."
Shade did a double-check as Abyss mentioned Syn's name. Didn't that blonde-haired lady say something about her? He could have sworn...And how did Abyss know her?
"Syn? That name rings a bell. I talked to a woman named Lisa from the Sanctuary, and she told me about her. How do you know her?"
Shade propped himself up with his elbow, wincing slightly from the pain in his side. His eyes finally traveled back to their normal cold gaze as he studied the big red mutnat.
"Yeah, only my woman was a giant machine with razor blades for hands and could move with the speed of a cheetah. Let's just say I didn't win our first fight. You ever mingled with you of those tin cans? With your size, you could probably hold your own against that thing."
Shade opened his eyes as heard the heavy footsteps of someone approaching. However, it did not prepare him for the incredible size of the man coming towards him. Nor did it prepare him for the color of the man. The obvious mutant standing before him was a deep red with a rather large tail. Shade did his best to hide the surprise expression on his face. However, his eyes were what gave him away as they would have normally been hidden by his large hoodie.
"No...can't say that I have. Why? What happened? She break up with you?" Shade replied his an evil smirk.
