The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Where the hell is this kid!? Shade thought to himself as he made probably his fifteenth trip through the Sanctuary. He had been searching for the little redheaded adopted child of Lori's all day with no luck. Shade had checked the dining hall, the library, the gymnasium, and the training room. He had even poked his head in the rec room (God damn that room to Hell) for a total of three seconds before discovering the girl was not inside there. No Kaitlyn Faust anywhere. Finally, he turned to the most reliable resource in the Sanctuary for all mutant members inside: Lisa, the secretary.
If anyone knew anything more about the Sanctuary than Lisa, then it was a mutant would could read minds. No one was as knowledge as Lisa. It scared Shade sometimes. And it also made him want to kill her sometimes too. But that would probably be too much of a clue to the others about what was going on, especially this early in the game. So Shade appeared in the foyer, walking out of his usual spot, tucked away in some pillars in the darkest corner of the entrance hall. And like always, there was Lisa sitting behind the desk. And like always, she asked him the same exact question.
"Hello Shade, how are you this afternoon? Can I help you with anything?"
"Actually Lisa, there is something I need. Have you seen Kaitlyn around recently?" Shade asked as sweetly and innocently as a mass murder could manage.
"If she is not here, then she is probably at the X-mansion." Lisa replied, politely as ever.
"The X-mansion? Why?" Shade responded, his voice returning to its usual harshness out of surprise.
"Yes, for school. Would you like her number to contact her?"
"Yes, thank you, Lisa. That will do." Shade replied as he quickly snatched the Post-it note with the girl's phone number out of her hand.
At the X-mansion, huh? This could be interesting. If everything worked out correctly, Shade might be able to kill two birds with one stone. He had been needing to get into the X-mansion. This looked like his way inside. Quickly disappearing into the nearest shadow, Shade 'jumped' into his way across the Sanctuary until he ended up in his room. He stuck the phone number to the picture of the redhead as he began to dial.
"Hello, Kaitlyn? This is your Uncle Shade. I heard you are staying in the X-mansion. Could you do me a favor...?"
Coughcough! Don't listen to the kid. She doesn't know what she is saying. Coughcough!
But yes, I am recruiting the young Orderling trainee to recover for me said document for plotting reasons.
And actually Kaitlyn, I was thinking that Shade might leave an anonymous tip with a Mansion resident about a possible break-in just before he sneaks into the Mansion.
Crazy you might say? Yes, but it provides Shade with a way to make Kaitlyn think twice about talking to any other Order members about said break-in with the eyes she has watching her after the robbery. The reason being, because Shade does not want any other Order to know what it is that he stole from the Mansion. Or he might 'accidentally' trip an alarm while they are sneaking around in the darkness. Either way would work.
However, the mission remains the same. Sneak in grab the document, sabotage some X-men property, then get the heck of the place before the reinforcements arrive.
Please post any questions, comments, and concerns below. And X-men, we are still working for volunteers. Post below if you want the job!
The invisible mutant had moved over to a nearby rooftop vent to keep a tad bit warmer in the chilly autumn air as he waited for his partner to arrive. It was a two minutes past their designated arrival time, and the shadow mutant had just had his first consideration that the kid had been too scared to show up when the sound of large wings, flapping in the still air caught Shade's ears. The shadow mutant closed his eyes and 'felt' into the darkness, trying to find the bird brain in the surrounding darkness. He did not have to search far as the winged mutant quickly landed on the roof before demanding for Shade's location. After a prolonged moment of silence (just to make Griff wonder if he was actually there), the invisible mutant replied from the darkness.
"I'm here." Shade said as he flicked his lighter and his disembodied face appeared as the light of the flame disabled his mutation. Once he was sure Griff had seen him, the shadow stalker hopped off of the vent and walked towards the winged mutant, the only notably change being that the sound of crunching gravel and the smoke from his brief as it condensed in the air in front of him.
"Like I said, I've got nothing to worry about after you take care of the lights." Shade said, answering to the boy's concerns
"Good choice." He commented, noticing his accomplice's choice of cutlery. "You still up for the task?"
Now that Alli was almost done with the tattoo- how long had it been? Three hours?- Shade was getting anxious for her to finish. He was tired of his skin prickling like it was expecting a slow spreading fire, he was tired of standing, and he was tired of being naked. The embarassment and subsequental period of shameless bliss had faded. Shade just wanted the ink mutant to wrap up the design so he could go lay on his opposite side to avoid the pain, and just sleep the soreness away. But then the worst possible thing happened. Someone walked in. No wait. It wasn't the worst thing. Because a second person had just walked in.
Instinctively when Shade heard the voices, he turned to look, which was not good for Allison in her current position. However, the shadow mutant did not necessarily notice as his eyes had just caught the bonemancer's gaze as she brought her hand to her face. It was for a milli-second only as she slammed her eyes shut and covered them with her hands, but that mini-second told all. The color drained from his face for a brief moment before he turned back to the corner and tried to scramble back into his pants. However, it quickly began to match the color of Isabel's at her commment. Forget the tattoo! Forget the boxers! Forget everything! Just get covered. Now!
If Shade had taken a moment, he might have realized he was the first person ever to put his pants on both legs at once. And the fact that Aura seemed not to be bothered by the entire incident was not helping the matter. The shadow mutant did not feel the soreness of the tattoo until he reached for his shirt. As he did so, a cramp spread up his side where the tattoo had been inked on, causing him to clutch his side as he tried to respond.
"It was just a tattoo." Shade echoed Alli's words. "I did not want anyone to think...Ah!"
The shadow stalker almost lost his balance as the cramp spread down to his hamstring. He tried to reach for the the table for support, while still putting on the shirt. The result was him, slamming awkwardly into the table before he was able to a hand through the shirt to properly support himself. His face was now beat red and refusing to even look in the women's direction.
Alright, so since we all have so much 'fun' last time I was inside the grounds of the X-mansion, I have decided that a second trip is order. I had a couple of ideas going through my mind on when/ how I am going to do this.
My main objective is a certain bit of information that I stumbled upon the last time I was sneaking around the mansion. However, I have been talking to Kaitlyn about something she might be passing on to me. I presume she will post in here about that...hopefully. So I'm using her as a sudo-way of getting inside the defenses of the mansion.
Also, I was planning on maybe doing it during the times of the riots since a lot of the X-men will be out of the grounds, fighting/ controlling the mobs. This is just a suggestion. It doesn't have to happen.
I'm except there to be some resistance that pops up, in which case Shade hightails it out of the mansion like the scaredy cat he is.
So on to the important part: if you are a mansion resident/ X-men and are interested in this idea, please feel free to post below. This thread will be invite/ closed only (due to the last one being kind of a cluster).

To say things were not going Shade's way lately would be a serious understatement. Recently, the shadow mutant had received a new job as a bodyguard for a local singer while trying to run the Order single-handedly- well at least the criminal side of it. With many of the larger figures locked over a power shift. Shade had been working like a slave trying to keep up with the constant demands of the more 'hands-on' aspect of their dealings. And it wasn't helping that they were getting more resistant from their clients. Shade had even had to start outsourcing for some help. So it was only natural that something had to give. And give it did. Luckily, the shadow stalker was about to escape with his life, barely.
His past few missions had been disastrous at best. The most successful had ended with him in a garbage can, thrown out with the trash, but that was not nearly as embarrassing as getting his rump thoroughly kicked by a woman, and an Adapted at that. He had been beaten by friend and foe alike, while managing to get the singer that he was supposed to protecting kidnapped. But that was by far not the worst. On top of all that, there had been a certain incident that had occurred in the Sanctuary's recreation room that the shadow mutant would rather not talk about...ever again!
However, even with all the self-sulky and recovery that he had been going through lately, Shade was feelings somewhat cheerful presently. Why? For he had stumbled across an idea that might very well help to eliminate all his problems in a single swoop. It just required a lot of planning, as well as A LOT more work on his part, but this opportunity was too good to pass up.
With the Order in such a fragile state from the ongoing power struggle and recent leadership change, the shadow mutant knew he had to move quickly in order for his plans to manifest into results. Furthermore, Shade had to delicate. This was a dangerous web he was weaving and something that might be considered traitorous by other members of the Order who did not understand the entire picture. Therefore, Shade could trust only in himself, and no else. Time to get to work.
The shadow mutant pulled out a black box from under his bed. Opening it, Shade withdrew the contents. It consisted of many folders organized by name. Many of the names were familiar to the shadow mutant, others not so much, and still others were people Shade had just met. However, there was one thing that related all of these characters: the Order. The shadow stalker removed the contents of the folders and sorted though the data. On a blank wall in his room, Shade began to tape the needed data to the wall. He started with a picture of the member in the middle then added the data around them. When he found a connection (previously known), Shade would connect them by stretching a piece of black rope between them.
When he was finished, there was in fact a very large spiderweb staring back him. The web was very dense in the middle and slowly dispersed as one moved towards the edges. Across one of the picture, there was a large red taped "X". Shade ignored that picture. Instead, he followed a black line between that connection to the picture of a young redheaded girl who he had recently battled alongside with against the X-men.
By rec room standards, the place was about as packed as it usually was on a weekend night. However, there was no laughing or giggling or even talking for the most part. Everyone was just standing around, staring at the largest television in the room that stood against for the far walls. That was different. Usually, the nosie from the place could be heard throughout the entire hall way, almost to the foyer. But tonight was different. And that was what caught the shadow mutant's attention as he walked by the recreation room that night.
Shade slipped in and slid past the mostly younger group of mutants as he made his way to the back of the pack. Being one of the taller mutants (at least, compared to the youngsters around him), the shadow specter was able to see the screen decently as it unfolded. The scene was brutal, to say the least. As it played through once, the visible half of Shade's face frowned and he crossed his arms across his chest.
Although the shadow mutant's outward appearance might not have changed much, the nerve endings inside his brain were firing in rapid sucession as thoughts of ways to respond. Images of the mass number of humans did cross his mind (more than once). However, Shade had a creeping suspision that NYPD's finest as well as half the mansion was probably sitting directly outside the Sanctuary doors, just waiting for some dumb mutant zealot to run out so they could shoot them full of lead.
This was a tricky situation. It would require more finesse than brute strength and random killings. Shade took a seat in one of the cushioned armchairs and withdrew a steel blade from his hoodie pocket along with a sharpening stone. As someone demanded for the person to play the ViewTube clip again, the shadow mutant set about sharpening the six inch blade. He had acquired the blade after his run in with Lenna, his first Adapted. He never wanted to be that helpless in a fight again.
The slow scraping of metal against stone continued as the clip was played over and over again as people came and went. Many of the younger crowd cried out verbally for vengence. Others just shook their heads and walked back out. Still, others were in tears. Shade just continued to sharpen his blade, pausing every couple of strokes to check its sharpness.
"That would do nicely." Shade said as seriously as he could, but was that a hint of sarcasm in there? It is harder to tell when one can not see the person's face that they are conversing with.
The woman seemed content to be on her on, and Shade could not necessarily blame her. He had just tried to kill her. Well, let bygones be bygones. And she did promise a rematch...
"I might take you up on that some time, but as you can see...well image, I have more important things to attend to." And with that, the shadow was gone, not that the blonde haired woman could really tell. The only notion that anything had changed was the lack of response and no more dripping blood.
"Ugh..." Shade muttered when he awoke. The first thing he noticed was that he was freezing, like nothing he had ever felt in his life cold! Secondly, he was vaguely aware that he was covered in something. He had no idea what. It was too dark to see anything, except for a thin line of light. Thirdly, his back and legs felt very sore, like someone had beat him with a baton or something. Finally, the smell hit him. It was horrible! Like rotten garage mixed with urine. It invaded his nostrils and crept up the back of his throat so he could almost taste it.
"Urgh!" The shadow mutant repeated as he tried to move. He barely managed to wiggle beneath the piles of nastiness that surrounded him. However, after much wiggling, Shade was finally able to free a hand and push some of the stuff off of him. Reaching for the narrow gap of light, he tried to squeeze his hand through. The heavy roof resisted at first, but with a little more wiggling and pushing some of the gross piles of crap of off him, Shade was able to get a hand, then an arm and finally slide his body out of the container.
It was just around the break of dawn, and the shadow mutant had to shield his eyes from the sudden brightness. Looking at himself, Shade noticed he was covered in shredded paper confetti, half finished coffee, and other more disturbing them. Was that a spaghetti strand on his shoulder?
The night stalker tried his best to remove the worst of the garbage, but it was a losing battle. With dawn on him, Shade could not travel by his usual means, and it was a long walk back to the Sanctuary. He tried to haul a cab, but as soon as the driver caught a smell of him, the yellow taxi streaked off down the road, but not before splashing cold, rain all over Shade. The water amplified the smell of garbage.
Now, soaking wet, smelling like sewage, and bruised and battered, Shade started the long journey back to the Sanctuary. The mobs on the street covered their noses when ever they passed Shade. He stopped trying to haul taxis after the third one refused him service. So instead, the shadow stalker just walked. He had to walk seven miles back to the Sanctuary...with one boot soaked in half-drank coffee and freezing waters causing it to squish! on every other step.
A look of confusion fell onto the youth's face at Shade's words. The shadow mutant could almost see the cracks forming to the mask that the Queen of Deception had drapped over his eyes. What Shade would pay to see what was going through Miles's mind at that moment. It was enjoyable to watch and Shade's grin could not help but widen at the sight. This was a delicate web to weave, and the shadow mutant did not want to push the young mutant too hard. He would leave it with this for night.
"In every way imaginable..." Shade replied. It was the truth, somewhat. Lady Syn probably had ways of deceiption that weren't even imaginable. And those ways were the ones you needed to be especially watchful for.
"You have a good night, Miles." The shadow mutant said suddenly, before making his way back to the shadow at the edge of the room that he had appeared mysterious from. The television flashed to a dark scene then back to light and Shade was gone.
Well, this man was perticularly snipping! After all that work Shade had to do to break into this high class joint, the business executive was just going to throw the shadow mutant out so quickly. How rude! He must have paid a small fortune for that delicate flower that was so eagerly attracted to his side. Fine, Shade could see when he was not wanted- well, that was a usual thing for a spy-, but obviously, these two had more important things to discuss than business information. Sliding his feet off the expensive desk, Shade placed his half-finished drink on the edge of the corner before rising.
"I guess we do not." Shade replied, standing up quickly. He swayed slightly as the blood rushed back into his legs. Yeah, that had to be it.
"Just remember, Mr. Murdoch. We will be watching you. Do not make me come back here." Shade said in a threatening voice before his vision of the couple before him doubled. He shook his head clear as he turned to leave. He must be tired. It wasn't...that late though. Taking three strides towards the door, the cloaked mutant suddenly halted.
"Oh and one more thing," Shade said, snapping as if he had forgot something and turned back to face Mr. Murdoch. "That redheaded mutant with the pens. You should give her a raise. And more airtime. She is the only one I can stand to watch on this pathetic news channel." He finished, muttering the last part almost to himself but loud enough for the two to hear him.
Returning to make his exit, Shade took a step before his knee gave out. Luckily, he was able to catch himself quickly. Man, he was sure feeling funny. Another step and he was almost to the door. He reached for the handle and it split into three different handles. The weight of what was occurring to him finally struck Shade, and he snapped his head back at the glass of whiskey still sitting on the edge of the large desk.
"You." Shade said, violence and distain in his voice as he directed his slurred speech at the black haired beauty. He tried to materalize a dagger but only managed to grab whisp of smoke. Everything was starting to cloud over with shadows. This was not good. He tried a desperate jump, but there was too much light. Shade stumbled back and slammed into the office door with his back. The shadow mutant felt sleep ebbing over him and there was nothing he could do to fight it. Suddenly, Shade was falling...falling through a veil of darkess, never landing. Just falling.
With a thud! Shade slammed into the marble floor. Out cold.
"You called me a #^*%#." Shade replied simply, invisibly shrugging. If she did not want his help now, the shadow mutant was fine with that. He had tried. Even after she had blasted him off his feet. Shade seemed to be such a nice mood this evening. The blonde mostly indentified where the shadow mutant where standing, even if she was not exactly directly looking at him.
"Alright, well if you are ever in trouble, the Sanctuary is always open. Just look for the large golden doors." The shadow stalker said, putting on his best impression of a salesman's provato. Understandably, it was not very good. The invisible mutant thought it had something to do with his voice. It was just too rough and harsh for anyone to ever trust it completely.
Shade mentally grunted at the young woman's comment. Maybe it was the fact that he was stark naked that made everything seem so wrong. However, he had his business face on and would not be swayed by such insinuating talk. That still didn't mean he had to look at her, or in her general direction. Instead, he would stare at this blank walk. That way no harm would-
Sh*t! Shade screamed in his head as his eyes shifted down instinctfully down at the sudden touch against his leg. The flaming red hair that he had seen momentarily could have matched the shadow mutant's cheeks at the moment. But it was fine. Just stare at the white plastered wall. Don't think about it. Don't think aobut it. Jesus! Was she almost done yet?
As the minutes passsed and the momentary feeling of embarrassment passed, Shade slowly lost the bright red that was burning his face. The tattoo artist was sure taking her sweet time while finishing the tattoo. But this wasn't too bad. He'd be fine, just as soon as she finished laying out the final touches on the pattern. She had to be almost done by now. Right?
The kid was trying to look tough. Shade could understand that. Half the reason the shadow mutant resorted to situations so violently was to show the other party that he was not here to play. And he would kill, if need be. It gave him an advantage against other, more powerful mutant who were not ready to suddenly jump to such a rash decision. And Shade to agree that yes, the Sanctuary did sound appealing to mutants who might not exactly be wanted in modern society, or who might be wanted by all the wrong people.
Then Miles revealed the true reason he had come to the Sanctuary. Lady Syn. If she had invited him to take shelter here, the dark queen most definitely knew the potential of Mr. Undead-Army-Raiser here. There was no reason for the shadow mutant to inform her of their new arrival then.
The smirk on Shade's face returned as Miles expressed his feelings of their leader. He shook his head slightly as the boy turned away as he did the same. Draining the last of his Mountain Dew, Shade bent the can and crushed it in-between his palms. He tossed it in a nearby garage can as he stood up.
"She can be very deceiving." Shade said simply, as he looked back at the youth.
There were several large teeth marks that looked like they had been dragged across Shade's forearm. The cuts were already bleeding profusely, dripping dark red spots onto the concrete sidewalk below him. The shadow mutant quickly removed what was left on his hoodie and produces a dagger, slicing off the undestroyed sleeve. He grunted from the pain as he wrapped it around his forearm. Taking off his belt, he wrapped that around the arm to hold the hoodie sleeve in place. Tightening to the point that he couldn't bear the pain anymore, Shade hooked the belt together to make a makeshift bandage wrap. He then proceeded to help out the young female mutant who was obviously in shock.
Ducking back into the shadow, Shade again blinked out of view. He gently placed a hand on the woman's back. This was what he was afraid of when he 'jumped' with someone. To him, the experience was familiar. However, that was because he had a lot of practice with it. To someone who had just expereinced it, it could be outpowering.
"Hey...hey, we need to move. The police are still out here. They will be looking. I got a place you can lie low if you need it." Shade said, gently. He might have been about to kill her earlier this evening, but the woman was a mutant. He couldn't just abandon her now.
