The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I am releasing the thread to all mansion-residents who wish to join. If I have not talked to you about joining yet, please ask before you do. The last one was kind of a mess so I wanted to limit it some.
Currently, I have Silver Streak, Emerald, and Shamrock who have asked and have been given permission to post.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a surprise, It had to be a miracle; I couldn't believe my eyes. Away from the mansion I wanted to fly, And tear open the folder to see what was inside
Shade slid an invisible hand out and maybe a little too eagerly snatched the desired folder from the small hands of the redhead. Withdrawing a small flashlight from his pocket that he had taken for this mission, the shadow mutant flicked it on to view the contents of the folder. In addition, the added light alluminated the front of Shade's figure, causing half of him to appear out of the darkness. Thumbing through the documents quickly, the shadow mutant began to recognize the document as the exact match to the once he had seen last time he wandered into the confines of the mansion, and this was exactly the information he so desperately after.
"This will do perfectly." Shade whispered in his harsh voice, smoke rising from his breath as he spoke. Flicking off the lights, the darkness once again consumed the night stalker. Tucking the flashlight and the folder containing the precious information into his cloak, Shade turned back to the red haired, little spy.
She seemed very pleased with herself, and Shade had to admit that he was slightly impressed with her skills, himself. Obviously, the explosive Orderling-in-training was a much better spy than a fighter. Their last mission, together, had been little more than controlled chaos with controlled being a very loosely-used term.
"Very good, Kaitlyn. I am...very proud of you, Kaitlyn." Shade said, trying his best to make his words sound encouraging. His invisible hand drifted above the red hair of the preteen for a moment as he contemplated ruffling her hair in congratulations. That was something that adults did with kids, right? However, Shade withdrew his hands without touching the child's head. It seemed for the better this way.
"Hummingbirds!?" Shade exclaimed, his voice mimicking Isabel's as it rose an octave in embarrassment and surprise. However, unlike the bone-wielding brunette, there was a large presence of anger that was easily visible in the shadow mutant's voice. His eyes screamed for the Allison's head on a platter, his teeth grinding in frustration and rage. The redhead was lucky that Aura was draped over her presently, or he might have drove a blade through his neck without a second thought.
Even so, Shade spent a full moment considering just how quickly the two warrior princesses would be able to react if the shadow stalker did indeed strike at the red-haired teen. Isabel was not in the least paying attention Shade. In fact, the bonemancer was trying all she could to avoid looking at him, as if he might suddenly disrobe again at any moment. However, her hiding might also have been a way to shield herself from her own embarrassment that Allison had brought to life. Aura was more preoccupied with her girlfriend and recently prepared dinner than with the murderous stares Shade was casting at Allison. However, it appeared that she had taken notice of them, as they were not too hard to decipher at the present.
It would only take Shade a second or two of distraction on Aura's part for the shadow mutant to slip his blade past her gaze, with the only problem being his escape. After his move, Shade would have to dodge Aura's pink psionic blades of death and by the time he had managed to do that, Isabel would obviously have snapped her attention back to the scene. It would be almost impossible to dodge the bone wielding buxom as she was squarely between Shade and his escape.
Nope, Allison's revenge would have to wait for another time. However, Shade promised himself that it would come and that she would not enjoy it in the least. However, presently, Shade was just too outmatched in too tight of too bright quarters for him to do anything without it ending up with his blood being spilt too. And Shade tried to avoid all situations that dealt with his blood being spilled.
"I'm through with this s***!" Shade said fiercely, as he grabbed his grey hoodie off the table where he had tossed it earlier. Pushing his way past Isabel without any apology, the shadow mutant walked back to his room. However, he was not far down the hall when he let his anger get the best of him.
Uttering a load growl of frustration at his inability to respond to the teen's actions, Shade reared back and pushed the wall resulting in a loud thud! The action caused his hand to hurt, but he did not care at this point. Still fuming and his a slowly swelling hand now, Shade pasted through the foyer on his way back to his room.
"Is everything alright, Mr. Ashen? Lisa, the secretary, chimed as he walked by.
Shade refused to respond to the question as he disappeared into a shadow and blinked away as the last trailing piece of him vanished from sight.
So I was given a week of leave and it has been a crazy week, hence my disappearance. However, I will be back in Washington after a very long plane ride tomorrow so I will hopefully be able to catch up on my posts soon. I hope everyone had a Happy New Year. I did even though I almost had to fight a guy because he was trying to make a move on my drunk sister.
Anyways, I hope to see everyone again soon and can't wait to get back to posting.
-"Holy cow! Did you hear about Isabel!? How she was manhandled!?"
-"I can't believe she did not kill that guy!"
-"What do you think about Isabel and that white haired guy!?"
-"Is that Isabel's boyfriend? I hope not. I think he is kind of cute!"
-"Who is that white haired guy?"
It seemed like the entire Sanctuary was ablaze with the talk about how the bonemancer had been singled-handed silenced during one of her usual temper tantrums by a nobody. Whenever someone would mention their thoughts about the attack on the bat-winged mutant, the next question out of their mouth was had they seen the way Lady Isabel had reacted to it and how she had almost instantly been stopped by a certain, previously unknown, white haired man. And who was this white haired man? That seemed to be the question of the hour. And it seemed no one had the answer to that very important question.
Shade was asking, himself, that very same question. Who was this white haired stranger and more importantly, how was he controlling the violent temper of Isabel Duskmoor with nothing more than words and a single hand on her shoulder. Everyone else who might try to do such things would have ended up without a hand in the very least. Shade needed to know, because he knew that in order for his plans to be accomplished, he would have to come up with some way of dealing with the maniac of a bonemancer that was Lady Isabel, and this appeared to be the key to ensuring that she did not step in his way.
The shadow mutant had gone over the video from the foyer and had seen for himself that the white haired man had indeed stopped the rampaging brunette will little more than his meer presence. The greatest shock was the way Isabel reacted to seeing the man. She had frozen in her tracks, stopped dead. Her demeanor instanly changed from her usual fiery self to that of a scolded child that having been caught doing something wrong. Shade had never seen her act that way before. If the shadow stalker was going to find any way to stop the chaotic brunette with the giant bow, this was obviously the way.
However, the problem now was finding this mystery man. The best image that Shade could retrieve from the security camera was very blurred and only gave a hint to the actual features of the man's face. Obviously, the shadow mutant needed more information about this stranger. The only problem was who could he seek out that information from without drawing any suspicion. Perhaps, he should go to the most creditable source of all: Isabel. But then, another question almost instantly arose: how would he aks Isabel about the incident?
Taking the badly distorted securtiy camera photo, Shade taped it onto the wall of his room that held the spiderweb construction he had made from his collection of data. Next, he took a new piece of string and connected the picture of the burnette with the large, green bow on her head to the one of the new mystery man. It was pertinent that Shade learn more about the relationship between these two mutants before he made any kind of move, one way or another.
Shade was beginning to find out that these mercenaries were well worth however much they were getting paid as the shadow mutant was quickly losing places to hide. Even as more floodlights fell, the gaps that appeared were quickly filled in with hessians brandishing flashlights attached to machine guns as more rushed out of the doors on the front of the building. Shade swore he had almost been caught at least a few times now, only escaping thanks to human error. He had managed to down another guard by 'jumping' above him and knocking him out before disappearing again. Currently, he had hidden in the shadow of a nearby vehicle as he crouched to stay in the comfort of the car's shadow.
The mercenaries had began to fire off rounds into the sky seeming to have spotted the source of the ini attack against their carefully constructed light fortress. There were still at least three floodlights that needed to be taken down before Shade could have a dark enough spot to slip into position to steal the precious cargo in the armored vehicle. Gunfire again lit off as the winged mutant made a low pass. But with the tunnel vision of shooting, one of the mercenaries accidentally shot out the floodlight that was above him.
Shade moved before the glass had even manged to hit the ground. He 'jumped' in motion and sprang on the careless man with a knife blade, driving it in just above the collar bone. Then as the mercs reacted to the sudden darkness, Shade 'jumped' back out and slid behind a pillar on the skyscraper's entrance that protected the shadow mutant from both bullets and the dangerous light.
"Only two to go." Shade whispered as he edged near the corner in preparation for Griff's next pass.
It had been a couple of weeks since Shade had infiltrated the corporate headquarters of the 'fairest' news station on television, Wolf News. Things had not necessarily gone the way the shadow mutant had exactly planned them to go, especially the part where he was knocked out by a concoction of drugs that were slipped into his drink by a certain black haired beauty. However, the thing that had been bugging the slippery shadow more than that was the 'feeling' he had felt in the moments before he had entered the billionaire's office.
It had not felt like anything Shade had ever felt before in his many years of crawling through the shadows. The sensation had could be compared to oil moving through water. It felt like it was gliding through the night like only Shade thought he could. Yet, it was different. Where as Shade was a cloaked figure, a constant distinct feature; the presence he had felt that night was an ever-changing being of darkness. It moved like an amoeba, always changing shape and in no noticeable pattern. And while the presence greatly intrigued the darkness mutant, it also frightened him, as it was something unknown in a world Shade had believed held no secrets, to him at least.
If there was one thing the shadow mutant hated the most, it was the feeling of being scared. Shade was not suppose to feel frightened. He was one who struck fear into the hearts of others, because they never knew where Shade would appear. He was the shadow in the night, the predator. He was not suppose to feel like prey. And so that was the reason Shade was currently stalking the shadows of the skyscraper he had previously infiltrated on this night, because he had to find out what was it that frightened him so. What had been that presence he had felt? Shade had felt it enter the office of the Mr. McCarthy, but where had it gone afterwards? Was the business tycoon a mutant himself? Now, that would be a great headline! And- a smirk developed on Shade's face at the idea- a great blackmailing tool.
Shade had changed clothes since the last time his last mission here, changing old of the large cloak he wore for mission for his usual grey hoodie and jeans. It was chilly in the cold New York night air, but the fire of wanting to discover the identity of that gracious presence kept Shade from drifting too far from the entrance to the massive skyscraper. Positioned across the street on a local bench, every time someone would leave the office building, Shade would throw out his shadow sense, trying to feel for the being he had felt before he had entered the billionaire's office. Every time so far, he had felt something unusual so all he could do was sit and wait for the person to relieve themselves.
The X-men were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of the Order's destruction danced in their heads. And Kaitlyn with the files, and I in my cloak, Had just met up underneath the big, giant oak.
It was almost 1 o'clock in the morning before Shade finally heard from his accomplice, in the form of a text message. By that time, the cold night air had penetrated through the shadow mutant's outer gear and was causing him to shake slightly. Therefore, it was a given that Shade was rather irritated when he finally got the information. Soon afterwards, the mansion's outside lights were all extinguished. A little smirk fell on Shade's invisible face as the darkness consumed the area. It was time to go to work.
In a 'jump' or two, the shadow mutant made his way to the basketball courts, but he did not see any mutant, let allow his tiny twelve year old accomplice. Reaching out with his shadow sense, Shade 'felt' in the dark for any humanoid shapes that might be roaming around the grounds in the general vicinity. Almost immediately, the small form of what had to be a small girl appeared in his 'sights'. She was standing beneath the large oak tree, just off of the courts. Saving himself the trouble of walking, Shade 'jumped' silently under the tree, picking a spot ajacent to the pre-teen. With the blackness of the night, it would be impossible for the shadow mutant to actually be seen.
"Kaitlyn." Shade said, announcing his presence softly as the smoke from his breath was the only visible indication of where he was residing. "Were you able to get those files I asked for?"
Alright, things are starting to look very promising.
Silver Streak is onboard for the showdown and will probably be the main heavy-hitter for the X-men in the thread. However, if any young Mansion resdients would care to join for some added fun, you are free to do so. I only as that you talk with me before joining in.
I posted the introduction to the thread a couple of days ago, but it does not officially happen until the night of December 23rd for everyone who actual keeps up-to-date with their timeline.
Count Shade in as a participate in any mindless violence threat. If anyone needs a baddie in a thread, feel free to shoot me a PM of hit me up in the cbox.
I can see Shade playing dress up and pychologically torturing a couple of humans to think they are going to die. Also, I would love to do the Times Square thing! So if anyone would like to join (as possibly a techie because Shade knows nothing of computers), just let me know.
"This spot seems like the most logical location." Shade said, responding to the youngster's question.
"However, if things do not go according to plan, we can always meet back at the Sanctuary. Humans and police, alike, would think twice before showing their face there. Do you know where that is?"
With their rendezvous points established, the angel-like mutant lifted himself into the air and disappeared into the darkness. Left alone on the rooftop, Shade moved to the edge of the roof and peered down at the target building. It appeared the dropoff vehicle had just arrived, in the formed of a large armored vehicle. Reaching out with his shadow sense, Shade felt the large bird-like wings of Griff swoop low through the buildings. Then a light fell. The tiniest tinkling of galss could be heard from Shade's location as the fragile material was shattered into a million pieces. The shadow mutant opened his eyes as a large section of viable area for him to 'jump' into suddenly appeared. It was time to go to work.
Immediately after the first light was hit, the mercenaries jumped into action. The Torch flashlight that each had on the end of their assault rifles were lighted as they moved to cover their now-vunerable position. Two spotlights, concealed inside the building, blazed to light and began to move through the darkened area as they searched for the mutant that they knew must be present. However, while they worked, Shade was already a step ahead of them, because he knew another light was- there! The second light was hit and as darkness consumed, the shadow mutant was already on the move.
His feet hit pavement as he landed where the second flood light had gone dark. A henchmen in front of him was wildly swinging his flashlight around, trying to light up everything around him. The Torch flahsed past, causing Shade to be visible for a moment, but by the time, the mercenary had moved it back, the slippery mutant had already 'jumped' behind him. The man was obviously shaking in fear of his life as Shade withdrew a knife.
"Boo!" Shade whispered into the man's ear as his blade sliced into the guard's throat. The man tried to scream, but it was cut short. However, the shout immediately draws the attention of the others. Every light in the area seems to fly to the body of the man lying dead on the ground. However, there is no Shade. He has already moved on to his next target.
(OOC: Feel free to move the NPC's around, shoot at you, shine the spotlights around, etc. as you like. I have no special plans for them.)
Shade silently grumbled to himself as he tried to figure out how exactly he was going to be able to get an ear on that room without being seen. With all those lights, it did not leave the shadow mutant with many options, if any. Except, 'jumping' under the table or something crazy like that. And that was probably something he should avoid if he did not want to get caught. He really did not want to get caught. He needed this information. Badly. For plans. Very special plans.
For a full minute, Shade sat trying to decide what to do. He was already way over his head in problems to begin to sort through them. The safest thing thing to do was to scrap the mission and catch up with Lenna later when she was back in the Sanctuary and when it was dark. Those two options favored the shadow mutant greatly, and it would be grateful for either of those two right about now. But he did not. Instead, he was stuck in an elevator shaft in broad daylight wiht probably a dozen powerful mutants sitting around just waiting to catch a spy. Not to mention, Shade starting to get this itching in the back of his brain. The invisible mutant had no idea what it might be, but it was irritating him.
With not many options, the Orderling was about to scrap the mission when he suddenly her a faint voice reaching his ears. Was that Lenna? How could he hear her? Shade could not make out the soft words that were spoken, but he could definietly hear something. Following the chirpy, brisk business tone of Lenna, a deep, elegant answered her, but Shade still could not make out what was being said. Listening intensely, Shade was about to pinpoint the voices to their source. There was a vent, leading from the elevator shaft. That had to be it.
Materialzing a knife, Shade pried at the dusty covering until he was able to snap it free. Careful to not make too noise, the shadow mutant squeezed into the shaft. It was cramped and tight. Shade's shoulders barely managed to slip inside, but it worked. Slowly, the shadow mutant made his way through the narrow vent until he came to an opening. He could barely see through the silted covering. However, he was able to piece the scene together with what was visible.
Shade could not see Lenna, but she assumed she was seated in front of the massive stone man he was currently viewing. They were in some kind of dining hall. The living statue was dressed in an exquistite suit that was tailored to him perfectly. Obviously, this man was well off. The thought filtered into Shade's brain about what an Adapted would be doing here, meeting a mutant mob boss by the looks of it. Was Lenna planning to control these people? Or were they really controlling the Order? Had Lenna got mixed up with the wrong people? Shade hoped so. It would make this operation definitely worth the risk he was taking in infiltrating this place.
All Shade could do now was sit and listen.
(I am going to hop in a little into your converstaion since it would obviously take Shade a while to crawl through the vent.)
Shade was purposively paying extremely close attention to untangling himself from his black T-shirt before pulling his grey hoodie up and over himself. He was pretending to ignore the women as they chatted about his previous nakedness. This way he didn't have to explain himself. It was mostly Allison's fault. She had been so adament on finishing the dang thing that she might have pulled the shadow mutant's boxers done herself. Of course, that would have made things even more awkward.
"I really didn't think it was going to down that far. Allison said she wanted it to go down my leg." Shade demanded, trying desperately to show that he was the innocent one in this plot. Seriously, it was all Allison's fault. At Aura's comment, the shadow mutant turned to the woman and gave a nod of appreciation at her comment.
"Thank you, Aura-" However, he suddenly stopped at her next words. His eyes shot immediately to the young woman who was embracing the physic manipulator. His shut clamped shut as he crossed his arms in front of him. He did that gingerly as the tattoo was still rather sore, but none of them knewed to know that.
"What birds?" Shade said through clenched teeth. Murder flashed in his eyes at the thought of what Allison might have done to his backside where he could not possibly have seen. Allison would be grateful that these two had walked in when they did if she had added something to the tattoo Shade obviously had not wanted.

T'was the night before (the night before) Christmas, when all through the manor Not a mutant was stirring, except an explosive planner The scheme had been formulated in the weeks prior with care In hopes that a shadow of a man would soon be there.
It was midnight. Christmas eve was a second old and Shade was standing outside the gates of the X-mansion in the chilly December air. Tiny snowflakes were falling from the black sky, littering the area with a thin layer of snow. A cloud of mist rose from the invisible mutant's mouth, the only mark that something was off in the night. Tonight was the chosen night for the shadow mutant's second infiltration of the X-men stronghold. He was just waiting for the appropriate signal from his accomplice inside the mansion which told him it was safe to proceed.
Shade subconsciously thought back to the last night he had to cross inside the large, wrought iron fence. That night he had been working for the Order on a mission that would launch their plans towards world domination; tonight, he was in search of something that might very well destroy it. The shadow stalker smirked at the realization. Irony was funny like that.
The previous night had also been pretty much a disaster in the making. Shade had barely escaped from the horde of X-men that had exploded from every corner of the manor like fire ants from an upturned ant hill. Hopefully, this night would be more of a success since he had inside help this time around. Last time, he had gone in blind, relying on his invisibility to keep him save from most of the dangers. Of course, the X-men had probably, also, increased their security since the last time Shade had broke in. Hopefully, the little thirteen year old was better than age would suggest.
Impatiently, Shade eye's traveled to the clock in a nearby store window. 12:03. This little partner was already late. The shadow mutant resisted the fight to immediately continue with the plan without the child's help or not. If she was late, there was probably a reason for it. A problem arising, perhaps? For that reason, Shade remained where he was at and instead watched the peaceful mansion as the anxiousness grew in his veins. He was ready for the night's show to begin.
(OOC: For all X-mansion residents, you are free to join in the thread. However, please PM for permission first. I want to keep things organized as possible, unlike the last time I was here.)
