The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

With Christmas just around the corner the mansion had taken on a festive appearance as well as having a seasonal smell of holiday foods and scented candles. The whole thing gave a warming feeling inside Victoria. She loved holidays, especially Christmas. All the pretty lights and decorations placed delicately on Christmas trees, the beautiful wrapping around gifts, and having people to share it all with. She couldn’t help but smile almost constantly.
Being one of the very few residents who was up at night Victoria had asked some of her friends to leave things for her to do to help decorate. One night a box of ornaments was left by her door, and she went through the mansion hanging the beautiful objects in places she felt needed some decoration. The remaining glittery globes found homes on the main Christmas tree in the living room.
Stepping back and admiring the scene of how wonderful the living room looked Victoria giggled with happiness when she saw someone had moved an electric keyboard into the room. Maybe it was for singing Christmas carols. What a perfect idea. The little blonde girl would sing a song her mother and herself sang every year.

The praise from her teacher made Victoria smile big. She had been hoping he would be pleased with her performance, and now she had finally showed him and he liked it. “I told you I’ve been practicing a lot.” Giggle.
Going down the hallway a slight temperature drop was easily felt. No recollection of chilly drafts surfaced in recent memory. The mansion was always set at a comfortable atmosphere. Victoria remembered Sam’s mutation dealt with ice, but why would he make it cooler? The thought was shaken away as it didn’t seem to be very important.
“Oh, I know my grades are good. It’s just kind of boring when there’s not really any other students to interact with. As peaceful as it is at night it’s also very lonely, but I’m doing well. It gives me time to think about my girlfriend and my other friends I’ve made.” A quick thought of Kait smiling and laughing received a content sigh.
‘Why have you been better? Are you sick?” Maybe that was why the hallway got cooler.
Inside the Danger Room Sam instructed the computer to create a scene and a scene it created. It was beautiful. Full moon, night time forest and a clearing where the moon could be seen in all its glory. “Wow! I like this!” Another big smile before her teacher’s questions snapped the girl back to the new lesson.
Feet moved to shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent, arms up with fists ready in a guarding position. “I learned this is a front punch”. Right arm snaps forward but elbow doesn’t lock and retracts back to guarding. “This is a reverse punch.” Left arm snaps forward and back. “This is an uppercut.” Legs bend lowering the girl’s body and then like a spring moves up diverting the energy from legs to hips and up through the body while her right arm hooks upward then back to guard position. With that done Victoria fired off a flurry of combinations of punches that she had practiced ending with a double uppercut and a ducking move as if avoiding a swing from an imaginary opponent. “And I learned to not be there.”
Withholding a snicker at Sam’s cheek, now smothered in red making him look like a partially made up doll, Victoria nodded. “Almost every night I practice.” Quickly she got her arms and feet into position and threw several quick jabs and punches. “See!” Her big cheesy smile was full of self-pride as well as hoping she had done everything right now that she was showing the one who taught her.
“Oh yes please?!! Can we go?!!” Every ounce of giddiness burst forth when Sam mentioned going to the Danger Room.
Following her teacher’s lead Victoria walked out of the office and towards the Danger Room and her new training. “Umm… things have been going ok I guess.” Typical vague kid/young teen answer. “School has been fine too. All my grades are good. What have you been up to?”
It had actually taken a couple times of knocking before Sam’s voice called out in response. Not thinking much of it Victoria opened the door and began to step inside the office. She was a little nervous but oddly that was pushed to the side, for a moment, as she stared at her teacher’s cheek. “Why do you have a red X on your face Sam?” She couldn’t help but ask. It was right there in plain view and stuck out like a sore thumb.
Regaining her thoughts Victoria continued. She wanted to ask him about the rumors and gossip but it didn’t feel right to start off her visit in such a manner. “I was wondering if you were going to teach me more. I’ve been practicing lots but I want to learn more.” She was unintentionally giving him blood red colored puppy dog eyes as she fidgeted nervously. Her lower lip had been drawn into her mouth and was being nibbled on.
A few months had passed since Victoria had received her first fighting instructions from Sam. She spent nearly every night practicing what he told her in her room. Her technique was as close to what he had told her as she could remember, but truth was she needed the positive reinforcement of letting him see how she was doing and to give her more guidance.
Rumors and gossip had filled the mansion regarding questionable actions from Sam towards other students. This caused Victoria to hesitate going to see her teacher. What if the rumors were true? Was he really a bad guy? After seeing the variety of mutants within the mansion possibilities were endless as to what happened and why.
One evening the little red eyed girl took a deep breath and decided she needed to see Sam. So she made her way through the amazingly decorated hallways to her teacher’s office door. She knocked on it firmly and waited for a response.

The closeness that had formed between the two girls was both surprising as well as comforting to Victoria. She was so glad to have found someone she could be open with and feel relaxed. So when Kait said she loved Victoria it made the little vampire smile even more. It felt like more than a friendship. This was something special.
Squeezing Kait’s hand gently and staring back with still glowing red eyes Victoria gave a sweet kiss. “I love you too Kait.” Smiling from ear to ear she stared happily at the red haired girl…until something poped in to her head and brought with it a slightly confused expression.
Tilting her head just a bit Victoria asked softly. “Kait? Umm…does this mean we’re girlfriends?”

Had anyone been passing by they might’ve thought the girls were having a childish staring contest, but in reality they were looking into each others souls. Victoria held a soft yet reassuring smile for Kait the entire time. So when the ‘thanks’ came it was replied to with a bigger smile and a nod. "You're welcome Kait." Victoria carefully wiped away any tears from Kait’s face. The whole thing was a very touching moment.

The story Kait told was a little confusing as Victoria wasn’t sure who the other people were, but what she did know was that they set Kait up into killing someone. That actually brought a frown to her pink lips. She felt so bad for Kait being forced into something like that.
Setting her drink down the vampire girl moved closer to her friend until they were close enough for Victoria to wrap her arms around Kait and pull the red head to her chest. Stroking her hand through soft red hair and gently resting her head against Kait’s. “I’m sorry that happened to you. I promise I won’t ever let anything happen to you again. I’ll protect you.”
Leaning back a bit to look down into Kait's eyes Victoria smiled cheerfully. "And if you're ever sad I'll sing you a song. Okay?!" A gentle giggle followed.
