The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tses watched the guy for a moment, then took a beeline into one of the nearest buildings. It was dark, one of the stores that was closed for the evening. Her green glow cast little shadows around the room. If only she could like, pull people through walls with her. That would be useful. Then she wouldn't have to deal with this dumb sensation that felt oddly like guilt. So what if she was leaving the guy to get like, caught, or shot at, or....something.
Dumb guilt. Dumb karma. She trotted through a few more buildings until she found the guy, popped a lock and gestured for him to hurry inside.
Stolen goods. Breaking and entering. She was making a fairly wonderful first impression. Yeah, it was bad, even by her standards.
The question nearly made Tses laugh at the irony. But the laugh sort of tangled in her throat at the compliment. Her face turned pink, and then she did the mature thing. She stuck her tongue out at the stranger, and brushed off her skirt. Not that she really needed to dust off her skirt. The ghosting thing at least kept her from suffering any physical damage. She melted back into a solid form.
"Not a ghost," She remarked, then moved to try and stop him from messing with the computer. "And really, I wouldn't mess with that if I were you, not worth it now. And uh, pretty sure you don't want to be caught with it." She casually glanced back up towards the rooftop. The yelling was getting closer. For one moment, her moral compass spun inside her a little uncertainly. She was pretty sure that was what generated the queasy feeling between guilt and embarrassment.
"I mean, you should, you know, maybe run, or like, go elsewhere." She started backing up and jerked a thumb over her shoulder in warning. It was more heads up than she gave to most people. She also was careful to stay out of arms reach. Last guy who caught her stealing broke a number of her bones trying to force her to kick the habit.
Tses rolled her eyes, refusing to look at the girl. She stretched and rested her head back against her arms, shutting her eyes and wishing the sun had the same energizing feel the moon used to. At least as that dumb dragon it had. Once again, that would be nice.
"The whole city is toxic. It's one big pool of animosity. You adapt." She remarked. She didn't feel her temper flare at the jabs this time. The sensation was something closer to sadness.
"It's less about a man, more about a friend. There aren't many people that make this city bearable, okay?" She rolled onto her side and looked over the edge of the roof. Her brain considered the distance. Maybe joking about jumping hadn't been such a joke after all in some ways. The ice cream went over pretty easily. Then again, she fell off roofs before. Usually it just ended in a bad sprain or broken bones and extra misery for a few months. Not worth it.
She looked at the people walking past, taking note of them. She could feel the hate in this city rising in waves off the sidewalk the same way heat would. This city hated everything about her. Mutant, thief, homeless, jobless. Maybe she needed a change of scenery.
She needed to get rid of this girl first though. "You can always try the fire escape." She jabbed a thumb towards the other side of the building casually.
There was a familiar burning sensation in Tses' lungs as she sprinted across the rooftops. She lost a pigtail somewhere in the scuffle, hair flapping around rebelliously on one side of her head, the other chunk of hair somewhat cockeyed. As she ducked around air conditioning unit sand air vents, she focused on the path in front of her, as much as she longed to turn around and look for the signs of pursuit. She could always use her powers to illuminate a bit further ahead, but looking like a giant firefly did make it easier to follow. And she had more than enough bad experiences with guns.
New York did seem to like it's weapons...
The computer's metal case pressed into her skin, which was clammy from the run. It made it harder to hold onto. Here she thought stealing a broken computer would be less risky than you know, a whole new unit. She was obviously loosing her touch. Everything she took lately resulted in a chase.
The life of a criminal was becoming harder with every month.
There was a yell somewhere in the distance, and Tses decided it was time to move for the streets. She took a jump for the nearest fire escape, and moved to climb down when the metal gave a wicked lurch.
Frickin' safety hazards! Tses thought as she tumbled backwards, arm catching at the last moment to swing her upright. There was a mad gymnast moment that felt a little like an action movie (you know, minus the life or death peril part), and then she was free falling towards the ground, prepared to take the impact in her combat boots.
Then she saw the silhouette her boots were aiming for.
"Shiii---" For once, her powers worked on cue, her light form sailing through the guy. Which was better than nailing him in the head or flattening him against the pavement.
Sadly, the computer didn't transition with her. It sailed past the guy's head and smashed into the sidewalk.
Jump off a roof, jump off a bridge, jump into a lake. Tses was somewhat immune to remarks like that by now, and a number of other less than pleasant suggestions. At least she could tune that out. Whatever, the girl would leave, go on her merry way. Maybe she would fall of a bridge.
Tses smirked slightly at the idea. Irony was fun.
And then, there was a jingle from the door on the other end of the roof, some muttering, and Tses finally glanced over. A Cheshire like smirk crawled across her features. "Ah, yeah, that door locks you know. Not that I ever really have that problem." Her skin glimmered slightly with light as she laughed and put her hands behind her head. Her mood was improving now. Ticking people off seemed to do that for her.
"You could always, you know...jump off the roof," she purred sarcastically.
Once upon a time, Tses would have probably thrown a punch at Noel for her whole part in the Ty fiasco. But at this point, she only gave a somewhat halfhearted glare. "Maybe if you did a better job of being a friend, it could have spared us all some drama." She rubbed her forehead with a hand and let her head rest back into the roof, she could feel the concrete leaving little impressions on the back of her skull. Her pigtails were probably lopsided by now. Not that she cared.
"And no, I'm not going to let someone else make me sulk. I'm sulking just fine all on my own." She snapped. She stared at the sky and crossed her arms. "And ti's not about one person. Sure, he's the more irritating, but I'm done with everyone. I'm done with men who leave, and dragons with their giant egos, and guys who think they're morally superior than you, and people who tell you to be a good person but fail to understand how impossible it seems. I'm just done." She snapped.
She wished she had an ice cream to throw again. This time she'd probably toss it on purpose.
The response popped out of Tses' mouth before she took the time to think it through. "Well I'd really like to hit Ty, but like, that's not possible. So any dumb, disappearing, disappointing man would really be a better waste of ice cream." She muttered grumpily, crossing her arms.
She rolled her eyes and sulked. "I should have squished him while I was a dragon."
Tses didn't bother looking up as the roof access door flicked open. Her sense of security had doubled a bit with the ability to go light form. It was easier to avoid punches in close range if you needed to. Plus, looking completely bored with someone who was pissed off at you was somewhat amusing. She needed amusing lately.
"I'm pretty sure ice cream washes out if you know, do laundry or something," Tses shrugged. "It's not my normal form of rooftop projectile, so there's a plus side for you. This one didn't explode." She fished in her pocket for a pack of gum then popped a stick into her mouth, smacking it lazily. She glanced over at Noel and squinted slightly. Seemed familiar.
"Karma never seems to hit people that deserve it." She muttered grumpily.
Like, done. Finished. Over it. They sucked. Especially Ty and his dumb habit of disappearing and never returning. She was especially done with him. Done with trying to work it out. Done trying to be a relationship person. She was just better off as a lone wolf.
Or something like that. She licked her ice cream then rolled onto her back, staring at the sky. Several stories up, sky didn't look much closer. Same old sky at least. Same old city. Same old New York.
How come she felt like burning down the whole dang city then? She sort of wished she were still a dragon. Then she could have at least damaged something. Now she was just a sulky mutant whose powers only seemed to be developing backwards. Falling through things wasn't much of a terrifying super ability.
With a grumble, she took the ice cream cone and pitched it off the edge of the building. Cones ahoy.
Maybe she'd hit some jerk who dumped a girlfriend with it. Karma could still happen right?
Yup. Carrick was still Carrick. Which presented the prime opportunity for Tses to mess with the little brat some later. After all, he did take her on a rather overly exciting flight through the city. She hadn't completely forgiven him for that. Or the whole, getting all griffon and trying to claim her thing...
"I think people who blame mutants for their own problems are ignorant." She mused casually in Orochi's voice. She tried to seem as smug as possible. That seemed to be how Orochi got whatever he wanted. "I could always aid in this 'roughing up' business, but I always seem to damage people a bit too much when I do that....so easy to go from a bruise to a broken bone with such fragile creatures..."
The guy looked like he was going to wet himself. She couldn't blame him. She was pretty terrifying. And that was awesome.
Being a dragon was fun, although the size issue did present complications. When your life previously revolved around quick escapes and sneaking in and out of buildings, being a lumbering slug had it's disadvantages. Tses wanted fresh air though, and she had some scores to settle. So she took the risk and wandered into the city.
Probably wasn't the smartest idea.
There was no way to be stealthy when she was a giant. People scurried out of her way, cursed at her, and generally showed disrespect. Maybe she wasn't Orochi, but she felt entitled to be respected. She was much bigger than them. Much more powerful. Pathetic people.
Distracted by these thoughts, she noticed a familiar figure standing and gloating over another male. Curiousity got the best of her as she wandered closer, wondering if Carrick was still... Carrick. He sure acted like him, but a lot of people had been effected by the swap. She had since learned the dragon and herself weren't the only victims.
Sticking her nose in others business was still a characteristic of her, so Tses moseyed closer (or thundered over, which is what it felt like), and leaned her head close to the two figures.
"Someone have a problem with mutants?" She remarked, coolly.
Sleeping on the ground as a dragon was easy. Not that being a street kid exactly gave Tses refined tastes, but she was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to bask on the giant rock like structure in the grounds. The sun was also delightfully toasty when she woke up. Overall, she was a pretty happy dragon as she stirred and stretched, tail knocking over a potted plant nearby the shrine.
Maybe she could stay this way. Although that would require evading that annoying body of hers, which was having a lot of luck locating her.
She had a number of things on her to-do list for the day. Terrorize children. Track down bullies. Generally beat up anyone she could. And the sun made her feel energized. Stretching some more, she looked around for something to accomplish first...
Being a dragon was dumb. Well, being a dragon that couldn't fly was dumb. No matter how much Tses wiggled the useless body in an attempt to get airborn, it just wasn't happening.
Being a dragon was also awesome. Well, mostly awesome. She didn't need to eat, she found the sun rather energizing, and there were all sorts of weird tastes in the air she was still trying to figure out. Although tasting stuff without eating it was weird.
Tses liked being in the dragon body about 90% of the time. The other 10% was when she realized it was really hard to do anything sneaky when you were a giant and everyone knew exactly where you were. The dragon-person trapped in her body kept coming around and bugging her. She kept trying to find better places to hide, like in the forest, or out by the lake.
But that lack of flying thing did seem to prevent better hiding places...
Flopping by the lake with a loud thud, she snorted unhappily at the water. It was sunny, she felt wide awake, and she needed something to remind her why this was fun again. Maybe it was time to go squish that sewer monster....
Tses was mostly ignoring his comments, but then there was one stray one that sent a twinge of discomfort through her body. At least, she thought it was the comment that did it. It was hard to tell because that strange taste had never left her mouth, and it was growing stronger the closer she got to morning. While she didn't really care if her body got squished or something, having him purposefully do something to it to get back at her did strike a tone of irritation inside her.
"You're the one who came here and threatened me. You're lucky all I've done was hunt for a few cookies while I've been here. You know, I'm not sure I like the color of my scales. I bet they make some car paint that could jazz this up a bit too. They're enough mutants, I'm sure they invented like a claw polish or dye or something by now."
As he complained about his stomach, she squinted at him, before finally realizing what was going on. Well, this was awkward. "Obviously you're not one of the all-knowing varieties of dieties. You have to go pee. Don't you like, know what that is?"
Awkward. Awkward awkward awkward. She should have kept her head in the kitchen
Tses hopped up onto her little rock and curled up, looking at him like a cat would from a tall perch. Disdain, judgement. She was totally better than him right now. Dragon wins. She should have been a dragon all along. Clearly she was meant to be a dragon. Swatting her tail at the figure she laughed at his remarks.
"I'm pretty sure I understand how this body works. It's big, and you're not. And I could squish you. Then I could just stay a dragon forever. And you wouldn't get to be one. The wings may be useless but I'm pretty sure the claws work..." She batted at the girl with a paw, only slightly attempted to impale her. It was amazing how annoying her voice was in this body. No, it wasn't her voice, it was the voice of that dragon that was now not a dragon. He could be a tiny girl that fell through furniture now. Tses had other plans.
She sat back and tried to remember if the giant lizard destoying the city and the giant monkey were from the same movie or not....
