The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Serves him right," Ty muttered bitterly as he drove. "I gotta thank you though. For stopping me back there. I woulda killed him...not thought twice. Something tells me now, that's the last thing we'd have needed."
He let out a long sigh, focusing on the open road as he made the drive out to the city. "Sad to say, today was more or less a waste of our time. We made it out alive, but who would have known an innocent job ad would set us up for a live hunt?"
Country road eventually turned into the crowded streets of the city, as Ty spent the better part of the remainder of the ride in silence. Thinking. Before long, he made it to the street she'd named, and he pulled the car over to the curb. "Well...I guess this is it. Eventually I need to get rid of this car, I suppose. I'd say it's been fun, but...hey maybe if we meet again it won't be such a crap-fest and a bloodbath, eh?"
Something about her seemed...off. He couldn't put his finger on what, exactly was wrong, but she seemed sort of...out there. Disconnected.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Headache's finally gone, for the most part. Getting some of my energy back now that the excitement's all over. Sucks about the sword though..." He sighed, turning down a street, thus beginning the incredibly long journey back to the city.
"You sure you're okay? I mean...what happened back there?" he asked, concerned. He wasn't sure he'd call her a friend, but...well they'd only met that morning, but since then they did kind of save each other's lives...

"Yeah, me neither, really," Ty replied, shrugging. All the while he was biting back his feelings for politicians. "Life just goes about as I've known it. There's the occasional human who's out to get us, but hey, you get used to it. Some cops are just gung-ho." He gave another shrug as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Crap happens. We just learn to deal. But I think that goes for everyone, no matter who or what you are."
Ty unlocked the door, leaning over and opening it. He didn't know what went on back there between Noel and Terry, but he didn't care. He felt like crap warmed over and they both needed to get out of here.
"That's the only place I know to go. I just know we need to get away from here." He rubbed his temples, waiting for her to get in and shut the door before he buckled his seat belt and put the car in gear.
He drove slower than usual, but then again this was the one time that wasn't technically a joy ride. And his head felt terrible. "Anywhere you'd prefer to be dropped off?" he asked. "And would you mind putting that gun away? Please? After what we just went through, it's really making me nervous..."

Ty clenched his teeth tight, his knuckles turning whiter than his usual complexion around the handle of his knife. With a sigh, he pocketed his knife, still shaking with rage as he shoved Terry away from him.
"You owe her your life," Ty said as he turned to leave. "Because I was a bat of an eyelash..." he let the sentence hang as he headed into the parking lot, scoping out cars. He didn't know why he didn't just knife the guy. Maybe he had a respect for Noel. That had to be it, because if either man had so much as sneezed, Terry would be dead. Then again...Noel did have the gun. Whatever.
He found himself walking toward a red sports car. Something sleek, yet powerful. It was unlocked, but...no keys. Pulling the screwdriver out of his pocket, he got to work, opening the panel, and hot-wiring, which...was a second nature to him, practically. Soon, the car fired right up, and he revved the engine a bit, sitting back in the seat and gathering himself, taking deep breaths.

Ty cracked a smile, relaxing a little as he sipped a little more confidently on his bourbon. He quirked a brow as she ordered him another drink to go with his barely-started bourbon. But hey...could he really argue? Not that he knew what he was in for, but...well...that time would eventually come. For now, he was taking it slow. For once.
He blinked as he saw her remove her gloves and brass knuckles. It was apparent that this chick went around looking for fights. Typically, fights just hunted him. "Yeah. The best remedy for blood-stains that I've found is don't get into a fight wearing your favorite shirt. At least that's still wearable. Mine went from green to the beautiful color of dried blood. And it wasn't even my blood..." He took another sip of his drink, kind of scared of the Irish Car Bomb for now.

Ty looked at the woman who'd just entered. Yeah, the kid probably looked pathetic. A definite first-timer. Ty knew the signs of someone just emerging from a fight; he wasn't exactly a stranger to that, really.
"Just sorta down on my luck, I guess," he murmured. His face was dotted with a number of faint, barely noticeable scars, most of them from a recent job-offer turned mutant-hunt. He nodded to the bartender at the mention of bourbon with ice, and she gave a nod, obliging.
"Figured, hey...since I turned 21 today, I may as well cash in on the legal-drinking-age thing." He took a cautious sip of his drink, heaving a small sigh. Maybe one of these days he'd catch a break.

Ty heaved a sigh, wiping the mix of sweat, blood, and water from his brow. He ducked behind the case as she started shooting, proving she very well was a better shot than he was. Thank God for that one...[/color]"
The redhead nodded as Noel spoke, planning to do much more than kick him in the teeth. Though that was a good start. He took off towards the back door, as instructed, making his way towards Terry with all the strength that he could muster. The first thing he did was aim a sharp kick toward the man's hip, using the bloodstain as a target. Ty grabbed the jerk by his collar, overcome by rage as his free hand flipped out his knife, holding it at the man's throat.
"You like huntin' mutants, do ya?" he hissed, his Georgia accent bleeding through prominently. "How's it feel being on the other end?" He gave a sick grin. "Be careful though...I don't need too much excuse to slice you open..."

Ty heard the shotgun, and he peeked out of his hiding spot just long enough to fire off a couple of shots in the direction he thought the sound was coming from. Then...he heard the voice, loud and clear.
The redhead took off as fast as he could, sliding and avoiding gunfire any way he could, until he reached her. And...catching a glimpse of their former fellow-employee...
"We need to get out of here...like now..." he panted. "You okay? And..." He held out the gun. "Please tell me you're a better shot than I am..." He kept his voice quiet, always expecting some unexpected surprise. Or a gunshot, which was far from unexpected in this setting...

The bar was fairly empty as the redhead limped in, sitting at the bar and staring at the list of drinks like he was trying to read in some unknown language. He knew beer sucked, but he needed...something. What with not getting his girlfriend back, and running into that jackass who gave him a matching limp. Lady luck just wasn't very kind to Ty, it seemed. But maybe that was because he was constantly paying for his 'sins.' Oh well...
"Hey kid, you look a little young to be here. Show me some ID or get the hell out." Ty looked up, hands stuffed in the pocket of a new leather jacket he'd swiped just earlier that day. He removed his left hand, covered by the usual green fingerless glove, and pulled his ID from the back pocket of his black denim pants.
The blond bartender took the ID, a pair of blue eyes staring past the rims of her glasses before pushing them back up. "Oh. Sorry about that, Hun. Boss has been bustin' my ass about carding people. Happy birthday," she said, somewhat smiling before pouring him a shot of...something. "On the house."
"Thanks," Ty said, grabbing the drink and taking a sip. Holy crap that was strong! It burned the back of his throat, but he took a breath, taking the shot-glass firmly in his hand and tossing it back. Okay...maybe it actually wasn't that bad. Whatever it was. He turned around, glancing around the bar before looking at the bartender and debating getting another one...

Ty cracked a smile, the sadness now really sinking in. They weren't to be. And it was his fault. But...what's done was done. "Yeah...see ya around..." He watched her leave, then brushed his hair from his face.
Digging his feet into the ground, he suddenly took off running towards the back, where he came from, and used the momentum to jump onto the fence, climb to the top, then jump down and hit the ground running.
He didn't know why he was running. Maybe he was just trying to outrun everything. All of his previous fears, the sadness, and that empty feeling of being alone again. Everything. He just...ran...jumping over park benches and dodging people where necessary, and he didn't even stop when he entered Sanctuary's golden doors. He only stopped when he reached his room, where he flopped onto his bed, crying himself back to sleep.
No...you couldn't outrun emotions. Couldn't outrun mistakes. All one could hope to do, was cope with them.

Ty smiled softly. "Maybe we can," he said softly, a sort of distant look in his eyes. Deep down, he hated this too, just as much as she did. But they'd grown because of the time they had together.
"Thanks for hearing me out, and...you know," he gave a slight chuckle. "Not blowing me up. I'd fixed the necklace, that's yours regardless. It's...you." His eyes softened as he said this, and he stuffed his gloved hands in his pockets.
"So...I guess this is it, then..." His voice trailed off.

Ty nodded slowly. "Honestly, I don't blame you," he murmured softly. "I ran this scene over in my head a million times since I...made the biggest mistake of my life. But honestly, none of them ended with you taking me back." He sighed softly, looking at her.
"But...this is one of the happier endings. I was never really trying to win you back...I just wanted to make it right. I wanted closure." He stood up.
"Anything you want to keep that I gave you, keep it. Gifts from a friend. Maybe we're not girlfriend or boyfriend material for one another but...punks like us would do better on the same side." He flashed a small grin.

Ty sighed, looking at her. "Don't you think I know that?" he asked gently. "This has been eating at me and eating at me. Unlike you, I never got to forget. The memory's always been there. No amount of killing, stealing cars, picking pockets, or even dodging death could make it go away..." His voice shook a little.
"So I cracked that day...I had this selfish image of what I thought it would be, and I got butt-hurt when it started off on the wrong foot. I guess after that I was looking for a reason to snap...I never intended to dump you...the words just...flew out of my mouth before I could stop them. All I wanted was...dare I say a cliched Valentine's day...one full of nothing but sweet and happy moments..." he wiped a stray tear, looking at the ground. "Deep down, I never once felt different about you...I always cared."
He leaned back, lightly hitting his head on the fence. "I've beaten myself up, down, and sideways over this, believe me..."

Okay, suddenly the atmosphere in the room became really ominous. Intimidating, even. Obediently, Ty stood up and walked towards the roach-mutant, placing his right hand on the book. He was still a little weak, but it was nothing he hadn't handled before. When Roach, Ty solemnly repeated every word, each one sinking in as he did so.
"I am not a human being. I am a shadow. Because of this, I lose three things. I have no blood, and thus I will not bleed. I have no skin, and thus I will not feel. I have no heart, and thus I will never love. Blood is weakness, I forsake it now. Skin is presence, I will not be seen. Love is death, I cannot die. Through all of this, I gain three things. I am a shadow. I am not a human being."
Ty felt somewhat of a chill as he finished repeating the oath. He was never a human being. He was a mutant. Set apart because he was different. Maybe even better. And now, he could be a part of something bigger. Something that set him even more apart.
