The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The thoughts about the guy and the tower of random junk aside, Clyde pulled one of his textbooks out and started turning the pages. He liked keeping ahead, because academics were the thing that distinguished him from real kids. Even though he rarely went out of his way to explain himself these days, doing well in school did make him feel more grown up.
He had not even pulled out paper nor pencil when movement out of the corner of his eye drew his attention back to the funny-haired teen. He was climbing onto the table. It was strange enough that the guy had set up the tower, but now, this was begging for an explanation. Was he insane, or was this some kind of statement? Clyde usually did not go of his way to talk to his fellow students. However, curiosity got the better of him. What was the worst that could happen if he just asked about it?
The teenage kid returned the book to his backpack and walked over to the table. He looked up at the other teen with a bored yet perplexed expression. “If you don't mind me asking, what ah you doing?” he asked, nodding towards the school supply tower.
His tone and manner were not that a curious little kid, but rather that of a serious teen. He was not trying to come off as rude, though he had no idea how his classmate would react. Sometimes, Clyde's behavior could be seen as pretty off key.

Wasn't like people ever used math in the real world? Boy, was she ever wrong. And was she mocking his accent? Sheesh.
Clyde watched as he girl noticed her twin behind her. The twin was eating a sandwich from the backpack, plastic bag included. Then, she was asking if she could keep it? That had to be one dumb kid.
Suddenly, the other yelled loudly. Clyde's eyes widened as she struck her twin in the throat. The blow caused her to choke until the food popped out. His face showed a slight grimace. Whoever the backpack belonged to, they were probably not going to want their sandwich back.
That thought aside, he looked down at the girl's sister, who appeared to be in pain. She might have been a brat, but getting jabbed in the throat was a harsh punishment. “Ah you all right?” he asked automatically, not really expecting nor waiting for a response.
>>”Besides, who's gonna find out? Unless someone tattles on me...”
Looking back up, he could see that the leader was trying to make herself look as big as possible. Was she trying to scare him? Sure, she was bigger than him, and, judging by the attack on her sister, she could probably kick his butt; however, so could about any of his classmates. Clyde was not going to let her, of all people, scare him, though at this point, it might be better to tone things down, or else wind up like her twin. Still, the remark about tattling infuriated him. He was a teenager, not a whiny little boy.
He straightened back up and locked eyes with her, glaring slightly. “Nah, tattling for little kids,” he answered. “Just don't come crying to me if the teachers catch you here.”

Like any other high school, the one Clyde attended had its isolated spots. This particular one was nestled behind one of the buildings, mostly hidden from view. The few tables it had were made of rusted metal and wood. The janitors hardly bothered maintaining the area. While the more populated areas of the school were filled with noisy cliques, most of the people at this spot were loners of some type. It was more peaceful than the other parts.
When lunch started, Clyde found a spot at one of the tables to eat and do his homework undisturbed. Like usual, there were a few other students, though there were never groups. He was just about to sit down when he took notice of another person at the tables.
Someone (Clyde was pretty sure that he was male) about his age with a funny black, blue, and green-striped hairstyle was seated a few tables away. It was not the first time he had seen that guy, though they had never spoken. Normally, Clyde would have ignored him. However, the stack of stuff he was constructing in the middle of the table caught his attention. It was the most bizarre tower of random things he had ever seen. There were random school supplies and, among other things, ketchup and mustard packets from the cafeteria. That was quite a peculiar behavior.
Clyde gave a funny look from across the area as he sat down. What the heck was he doing?

The twin who was doing all of the talking just glared back at him. Thankfully, it seemed that she had lost interest in the stolen backpack, though her twin was still looking at it in the background. Clyde had hoped that the girls would leave the area, but it was becoming clearer that they were not going to leave. Of course, he was not close to intimidating in the first place, but still, those girls even had the nerve to disregard authority. Was peace and quiet too much to ask for? Sure, he could have found another spot, but there was no way that he was going to let the pair of brats drive him out.
>>“I ain't afraid of no one. Especially some dude I've never seen.”
“Really...” Clyde muttered in a tone that was barely audible. He rolled his eyes as she looked at her nails like some lazy receptionist. That one in particular had some ego issues.
>>“Sides... how do you know I ain't just short fer my age?”
This girl was STILL trying to lie to him. Or, perhaps, she was just asking pointless questions in an effort to annoy him. Either way, Clyde did not like backing down. “Height's got nothing to do with it. I'm a highschoolah,” he countered. That last part sort of flew out unchecked. Having not found a simple way of avoiding the perplexed expressions that were almost sure to follow, he tried to change the subject, hoping that remark would slip under the radar. “Anyways, real highschoolahs know what Algebra is.”

Clyde had walked right into that one. Technically, this was a school, but it was not the right one for girls their age. They looked completely out of place. Heck, at times, people had wondered if HE was in the right place. He felt like kicking himself for that one.
>>“Finders keepers! They shouldn't have left it out in fro—Mrrfffuffhurff!”
After a bit of a scuffle between the two, the more dominant twin shoved her sandwich into her sister's mouth.
>>“As my sister was saying... It shouldn't have been left out front. We were gonna look through it to try and figure out who it belongs to... then give it back to them.”
Somehow, Clyde doubted that the girl was telling the truth there. The other's little outburst had told him plenty about their true intentions. Teenagers were not as easy to fool as little kids. Their ignorance was almost funny. “Sure,” he replied, his voice filled with an obvious amount of sarcasm.
>>“What's it to you, anyway?”
Of course, those little brats were not going to take him seriously. To them, he did look younger. Slowly, Clyde stood up. The twins were taller than him, but not by much. If he could not appeal to their morality, he could still convince them that their “loot” was worthless.
“I really don't think you'll be interested in that stuff. It's all homework and books,” the teenage kid said. Again, he crossed his arms. “You probably shouldn't be here, anyways,” he added, his eyes narrowing. “This is a high school. If Dr. Boding finds you, he won't be too happy.”
The vice principle had a bit of a reputation at this school when it came enforcing the school's rules. Funnily enough, nothing ever seemed to bode well with him.

The history building's hallway was one of the quieter places on campus. Hardly anyone was there, save for passing period. Being out-of-the-way and free of his judgmental classmates, it was the spot Clyde preferred during lunch. That noon, it had been empty when lunch started, and he had found a corner between one of the hallway's desks and the wall to sit and prepare for his English test. He had the text open and was reading quietly.
>>“What the #$%@& is Algebra? ...here, look busy with this and shut up.”
That rather loud (not to mention uncouth) outburst broke Clyde's train of thought. People were in the hallway, yakking away. It had to be while he was studying?
Remaining seated but looking up, he saw two dark-haired girls standing in front of another table not far from him, busily rifling through books, papers, and anything else one could find in a backpack. Strangely enough, they were completely identical from their faces to their shoes. They must have been twins. Even more strange, they did not look much older than elementary school kids. Besides, what high school student did not know about Algebra? What were they doing at the high school during lunchtime?
“Shouldn't you two be in school?” he asked them, raising an eyebrow. It was not really a question, but he did wonder what their explanation would be.
Considering their curiosity about the backpack's contents, it quite evidently did not belong to them. It appeared some unfortunate student left theirs unattended for a few minutes. He had no clue who these girls were, but they should have been old enough to know better than to steal one's stuff. He eyed the one girl's Algebra book/hat and crossed his arms.
“Somebody's going to be missing that, you know,” he lightly scolded them, referring to the backpack and its contents. “You should put that back.”

Sounds like an interesting idea. I was thinking of pushing Clyde towards the Mansion, and the tension between the two sides might be enough to push him there and away from the high school.

It was a cloudy afternoon, which was typical for New York. Clyde Lambert was heading back from school. This new school was going to take some getting used to, as he hardly knew who anyone there was, not to mention, being a teen who looked about a decade younger, he did not really fit in anywhere in the first place. Yet, admittedly, that place had been easier on him so far. It was not as bad dealing with people who thought he was a little kid as it was dealing with people who knew otherwise but still proceeded to treat him like a child because they found his whole situation downright hilarious.
His route back home took lead him right past a park with a small playground. Real kids were having fun chasing each other around and climbing up every tree or piece of playground equipment they could find. It had been years since Clyde had found those sorts of activities fun.
Suddenly, a boy of about ten years pushed by him, knocking him over.
“Oof!” Clyde grunted as he feel backwards on the sidewalk. Luckily for him, it was not a hard fall, and he was just fine. However, that kid's carelessness irked him. That kid was not watching where he was going. He did not even stop.
“Hey, watch it!” Clyde shouted at him as he sat up, but the kid was already out of earshot. The offender bolted into the street and would have gotten hit, had the cars not come to a screeching halt. Honks and shouts from the confused drivers sounded in the background.
Slowly, Clyde got back on his feet. Quickly, he realized that something was wrong. That boy was not the only person running. Parents, children, and passersby alike were fleeing the park at full speed and in scattered directions. A few of were even screaming. Someone or something in the park seemed to be scaring them. What was going on? Clyde had to take a closer look.

Hair color and style: Brown, short, though it does hang low over the eyes. Skin Tone: White Eye Color: Blue Height: 4'1” (can be anywhere from 20 inches to 5'5”, explained in mutations) Build: Medium. He isn't fat, but he isn't skinny, either. Visible mutation: None, though if one were to talk to him, they'd likely note his behavior as strange. Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: He has a faint one on his forehead, though his hair covers it.
Other features:
Everyday clothing style: Usually something plain and casual, like shorts and a polo T-shirt. Uniform: N/A Sleepwear: Pajamas Miscellaneous clothing: He does borrow clothing sometimes, thanks to his ability.
Character
Personality: He generally behaves in an apathetic and cynical manner. Sometimes, he'll make snarky remarks or point out flaws in people's logic, which are directed at people who either tease or annoy him. It is more of a poor attempt at compensating for his insecurity about looking like a little kid than actual meanness. He can come off as rude at times, merely due to the fact that stuff he says is coming from a “little kid,” not a highschooler. Even though he's fairly smart, he often struggles to be taken seriously, which is a cause for his frequent bouts of frustration, which usually come in the form of more snarks or hotheaded responses. Those who take the time to know him realize that he isn't such a bad person, and that he's worth listening to. Though it's often hidden, he really does care about people and will do what he can to protect a friend. Hobbies/ Interests: He keeps up with politics, and he reads at times. Job or part time job and description: High School Student Fears/ phobias/ concerns: He's highly insecure about being in kid form most of the time. On a different note, he is terrified of spiders. Special talents: He's a decent writer, and given the chance (when he's in a calm mood), he can make some decent arguments.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Lawful Neutralish. He usually leans towards the good side, though sometimes his snarkiness suggests otherwise.
Mutations
Mutation description: Clyde is an age-shifter. He is capable of altering his apparent age from anywhere from an infant to a ninety-year old man for up to three hours. It takes him two seconds for every ten years he is shifting. His brain is wired in such a way so that his mind is unaffected by the shifts. His normal aging has started where it left off, so he will age, though he is a bit behind (His X-gene had been active early on, and the accident sort of jammed his age at that moment, though when his shifting powers manifested, the aging started up again.
Strengths: Thanks to his power, he is resistant to artificial aging and de-aging effects, considering that he'll automatically return to his normal form, unless the (de)aging attempt is very fast-working. Restraining him by conventional means (like ropes) is sometimes useless, as he can just shrink out of them. With a little bit of planning ahead, he can use his power as a weak disguising mechanism.
Weaknesses and Limitations: The process is painful, especially if a dramatic size-change is involved. He can usually work through the pain, but it does leave him vulnerable as he shifts. Due to a childhood injury, his form tends to snap back to that of a seven-year old. He can only hold a different form for about three hours before intense pain sets in. If he reaches that point, he will have to return to normal for maybe seven or eight hours, or otherwise risk blacking out. If he takes a good hit or even is startled while in a different form, that will also likely cause his voice, or even entire form, to snap back. Also, clothes don't shift with him, so... you get the picture.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Obviously, he is pretty weak, as even his adult form is slightly weaker than most other adults. He does have a slightly higher pain tolerance than most people, as his shifts are painful. In kid form, he is somewhat flexible, and though he is slower, he also is more agile. As an adult, his speed, flexibility, and reflexes are average.
Fighting Style: None, really. Considering that he is in kid form most of the time, and that even his adult form is not that strong, he would most likely try to find a way out of it. If he can't find a way out, he will fight, though he would have little hope of winning.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: If he could escape a fight, great. However, if he can't, he's doomed.
History Of Your Character Clyde was born in Boston to a father who worked for the newspaper and a stay-at-home mother. He was the younger of two brothers. Things were fairly normal until he was seven. One day, he was riding a bike without a helmet, and he fell and hit his head. At the time, it seemed to just leave a scar and a mild concussion, but now, Clyde wonders if that accident is the reason his form tends to snap back to “kid.” From then on, it seemed that Clyde had stopped aging. For a while, he was taken to doctors, who could find nothing wrong. What really had happened was that his X-gene had been active, and the injury caused his form to be jammed at seven. As he got older, he became more and more of an outcast and a target of teasing, due to looking so much younger than his peers. He developed his snarky, apathetic barrier personality as a way of coping with it.
Around when he was twelve, he began to suspect that he was a mutant, due to the fact that he hadn't aged. He went to his parents with these suspicions. His mother did not have much to say regarding it, but his father, being a person who disliked mutants to the point of writing articles against them, insisted otherwise. Several times, Clyde tried bringing it up, but each time his father gave him the same response. However, just shy of sixteen, Clyde found out for sure when he accidentally turned into a teenager in the privacy of his room. At first, he was happy, because it seemed that he could finally look like a normal teenager, but he was soon saddened when he learned his limits. He never told anyone about his ability. He hasn't realized this yet, but finally breaking out of his jammed form has caused his aging to start up again.
Recently, his father got a job offer in New York City, so the family (minus his older brother, who went off to college) moved there. Clyde is now adjusting to the new school, where his fellow students think he is just a smart kid, because they did not know him when he was younger. It seems relations with his father could snap if he was found out.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Did have April Jones at one point, though I went inactive (so I guess this is a character swap). Sample RP: Sighing, Clyde gathered his needed books from his locker. As always, someone had made fun of him that day. And, as it often was, it was a freshman. It was downright humiliating. As he shut the locker, he noticed that a couple of girls were headed towards him. He recognized them as his classmates. Usually, people did not talk to him to socialize – either they would come to tease him or to ask him about his age. What did they want? “Me and her were wonderin' about something,” spoke one of the girls. “Just how old are ya?” So, it was the latter, which was a bit of a relief to him. That question almost always came up, given that he seemed to be a child among teenagers, and that people are always curious. He bit back on his pride. “Seven,” he lied. Of course he hated telling people that, but honestly, he was tired of trying to explain that he was really sixteen to everybody. All it did was illicit laughs or funny looks. It was just easier to let people assume that he was a smart seven-year old rather than some defective age-adjuster. “Ha!,” she exclaimed. “I knew it! Stacy, ya owe me a dollah!” Clyde rolled his eyes as the girl ran off with her friend. Seriously? He had just been used to settle a bet? That was a new one.
