The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Just as Clyde was letting his injured foot down, he heard a woman speak to him. About the fact that he'd stepped on that dastardly metal plane. Weird, he thought no one had been in the room to see that. Perhaps he was mistaking.
“No kidding. Can't blame the toy company, though. They'd be insane to test fo stuff like this. Someone really needed to clean up after they played,” Clyde responded, replacing the sock. “It's nothing, though.” He leaned forward and reached for the TV remote on the table.
That was when he noticed the sketchpad she was holding. Especially considering issues he'd had with a certain artist jerk before, he knew that some got needlessly mad at the most minor distractions. “You ahn't the type of ahtist who'd go ballistic if I turned this on, ah you?” he asked, waving the remote. The teenaged kid sure hoped not. That'd mean he'd have to find somewhere else to kill time.

Clyde was somewhat bored. Having a roommate meant it was difficult to sit back and read. So, Clyde decided to head to the living room and see if there was anything interesting on the TV.
However, just as he was going to sit down on a couch, he felt something sharp cut into his foot.
“Ow!” he yelped. “What the...”
The pointy object was a small toy plane. The freaking thing was metal and had a nasty looking tail fin on it. Heaving an angry sigh, the teenaged kid picked it up and placed it on the coffee table. Obviously, some kid didn't think to pick up his toys so people wouldn't step on them.
Still grumbling, Clyde then sat down on the couch. He carefully removed his sock to inspect the cut. It hurt a ton when it happened, but, fortunately, the cut wasn't deep enough to warrant a bandage.

I'm just letting people know that, starting tomorrow, I'll be out of town for about a couple weeks. During that time, I most likely won't be able to get to the Internet, so I won't be able to reply to anything until I get back.

“I already said you don't intimidate me,” Clyde reminded him, mirroring the other teen's unamused look. Why would he be frightened? Sure, he still didn't know what this guy's mutation could do, but would someone like him really risk getting thrown out for attacking someone? Clyde guessed no.
“Who says I'm bothering you now? The fact is, you still bothah me, so try and figuh out why,” he stated as he took a seat on the couch in front of the TV. Couldn't this guy swallow up his pride for one freaking moment and admit he was wrong about the brat thing? Maybe if he actually treated him as an equal, he'd no longer fall under the category of “jerk.” Well, if this guy couldn't figure this out, that was his problem.

Despite the knocking, nobody was answering the door. So, Clyde stood still and listened carefully. There was movement to be heard in that room. No mistake; someone was definitely in there.
“You know, I can heah you in theah. If yo scrambling to hide a dead body, don't bothah,” he called through the door. Upon testing the knob, Clyde found it was unlocked, so he let himself in.
The room gave Clyde one distinct impression. It needed to be cleaned. Badly. Carrick obviously wasn't tidy. Clyde could see tin cans, dirty laundry, dying plants, an old pizza box-WHAT THE HECK WAS GRIFF DOING IN THERE?!
Clyde'd met him once already, and once was enough. Not only was a person with wings and a tail easy to remember, but this was the same Griff that stole wallets, the same Griff who had started a fight. The was the very same Griff that PICKED HIM UP and nearly dropped him tens of feet.
He stared at the winged pickpocket a moment, trying to piece together exactly why he was in there in the first place. Had he gone into the wrong room? No, Clyde was sure this was the right one. “Griff,” he growled, “ah you really Carrick, or ah you stealing from him?” The whole time, he continued to eye the other mutant suspiciously.

The age shifter listened to Andrea's anecdote as attentively as possible. Her story of how she came there somewhat stunned him. It sounded strikingly similar to this, except it hadn't been raining for him. He took a couple of bites out of the cookie before speaking.
“Wow, um... I don't know what to say. I-I guess it's good to heah that they ah so welcoming,” he said. The thought of this place as a home... That seemed far off to him, but at least this was shelter.
Just as Clyde was about to take another bite, he found himself looking right at a white snake's face. Before Clyde realized it was Andrea's, what remained of the cookie dropped to the floor. Simply put, hair snakes were not something Clyde was used to seeing.
“Anyways, the school heah, I take it they teach through high school?” he tried to change the subject, hoping his startled reaction went unnoticed.

The morning after Clyde arrived, he spoke with the Mansion's admissions. To his surprise, after a bit of paperwork, he was free to stay as a resident. The office people told him a few things about the place, like how there would be classes he'd attend and a library he was free to browse. Plus, one other thing.
Clyde was getting a roommate.
He didn't really like the idea of having one, but since he was living at a place like this, he knew that he'd have to put up with it. If he remembered correctly, the guy's name was “Carrick.” Nothing else was mentioned, so it didn't really tell him anything. At least he was going to find out soon enough.
With that in mind, the age shifter made his way to the left hallway. He carried his backpack, which contained what little he brought with him. He looked around, noting how many rooms there were. To think this was just the guys' rooms!
Several rooms down, Clyde stopped in front of a door. According to the slip of paper they gave him, this was the room. He knocked, in case this new roommate was in.

The sight of the clone's antics had Clyde shaking his head in disbelief. And to see that the highschoolers were actually encouraging it... Just another reason to lose faith in the human race. “I'm not sure how you put up with them,” he commented. “If it were me, I'd be worried that one of them would go off and do something insanely embarrassing, and that everyone will think it was me.”
Hitting the duplicate with a slingshot wouldn't have been his first choice, but it would have been hard to go up to retrieve her themselves. Man, he hoped no one called the paramedics for something that, according to Elke, liquidized in a day. Wow, what sort of moral standards was he supposed to hold the dupes to, anyways?
This really wasn't the time to get all philosophical.
“What's the plan? It's not like we can go in theh and carry her out. Will she self-destruct or something?” Clyde asked quietly. He looked up again, and his eyes filled with alarm. A certain unhappy someone was storming towards them. “Not good,” he whispered to himself. Plan, plan. He needed a plan!
“Hi,” he acknowledged the big guy in a mock friendly tone. “You seemed to have, um, recovahed quickly.” The age shifter glanced around, noting the presence of more highschoolers in the area. “Was theah something you wanted to discuss?”
The sarcasm was duly noted, but it was not appreciated. Heck, Clyde wasn't a coward! “You've got some serious issues if you find bunnies and caterpillars scary,” Clyde remarked back at the weird-haired artist jerk, rolling his eyes as well in response.
Clyde knew that sometimes, in those situations, he needed to try to be the better person. But, this guy was getting on his nerves, so Clyde didn't feel like being nice. Hmm...
“You want me to shut up, huh? I'll simplify this. If you don't bothah me, I won't bothah you. Deal?” he countered, offering his hand to shake in mock agreement.

A little relieved that Andrea wasn't going to force anything out of him, Clyde walked up to a table and dropped the backpack he'd been towing around next to a chair. He took a seat. “A little...” he muttered.
Well, actually, a lot. Just sitting down made him want to fall asleep then and there. He barely caught himself before he nodded off.
Wearily, he raised an eyebrow at Andrea. “They'd let me stay? I didn't even call oh anything befoh coming. They weren't expecting me,” he said, confused. “But I guess I do need a place to crash, so that sounds like it'd work for now.” Clyde didn't particularly want to try to sleep with so much that he needed to work out, but what she said made sense.

If he ever stood up to one? The nerve of him! True, Clyde knew he was pushed around a lot, but it wasn't as if he didn't do anything to stop it. “Believe me, I'm not afraid of you,” Clyde replied.
He heaved a sigh. Did people always have to speak to him as if he was stupid? “This is a common area. I have as much of a right to be heah as you do. You can't make me leave,” stated Clyde, adamantly. “In fact...” He snatched up a remote from a table, powered on the TV, and changed the channel to the news. “...I think I'll stay. Think you can handle it?” He looked back down at the artist jerk, again returning the smirk.

Trouble? Oh yeah, the riots! It made a lot of sense, this being a school filled with mutants. Doh, why didn't he think of it earlier?
Gingerly, he reached out and shook the hand the woman, who called herself Andrea, offered him. “Clyde,” he answered. As he took his hand away, it hit him how peculiar it was for someone dressed the way she was to be wearing gloves. He wasn't going to question it, though.
Clyde followed Andrea towards what he assumed would be the kitchen, glancing around the Mansion's interior. Needless to say, it was pretty impressive. But the awe didn't last long. He stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he heard Andrea's question. Clyde couldn't think of anything better to do than look down at the ground and mutter, “I... don't want to talk about it.”

Hearing that this was indeed the right place in words, even though all signs pointed to it, brought a small amount of relief to Clyde. Still hesitant, he stepped inside. The wave of warm air was actually pretty inviting, though that probably was because he'd been outside in the cold for the past few hours. He wasn't quite sure what to think of this place. Sure, the woman in front of him seemed nice enough, but the high level of security was a little disconcerting. Were they that worried about mutant haters?
“Okay...” his voice trailed off in response to her offer. Milk and cookies weren't really his thing; they were far too childish, but he was hungry. Come to think of it, he'd barely touched his dinner, so that probably explained it. “I'm not cold, though.” His gaze wandered back outside to see that the patrolman was still securing the area. “Is something going on heah?” It had him wondering, because this was supposedly a welcoming place, and this person was being welcoming.

Clyde glared at the guy when he heard that four letter term for the umpteenth time. Man, would he give up with the brat thing already? It was annoying and untrue. He still didn't think the jerk even had a good reason to hate him so much in the first place. But, as long as this guy kept insulting him, the feeling was mutual. Might as well snark back at him.
“I wouldn't say I'm annoying you; yo just getting annoyed on yo own. Don't blame me fo standing up to the bully,” replied the age shifter with a smirk.

The door creaked, and Clyde took a few steps backwards. His eyes grew wide with a tinge of shock as he looked up at the woman in the entryway. Her skin tone appeared off; it looked greenish. At first, he thought it might have been the poor lighting, but as soon as she brought herself down to his level, he could see something very strange about her hair. It... had snakes. That wasn't normal; she was without a doubt another mutant.
He recoiled a bit, not due to her appearance, but because she was asking him questions he didn't really want to answer. He stammered out a reply, “I-I'm not injahed. I... I heard about this place, that it was fo mutants, so I walked-d heah.” God, he was sounding like such an idiot. The whole time, he was shaking. He fought to keep it minimal, but it was still there. Maybe he was cold or exhausted. Or, perhaps, as much as he hated to think, he was nervous.
