The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He was trying to be reassuring... It helped some, but she had more to say and it was the harder part for her... And then he said they were all there for her... And yes, him too; that he wouldn't bail out on her because of the babies. And then he pulled her into a hug, holding her while she was hurting. That was when she started to cry on his shoulder... Not that freaking out, ugly cry, but the calm cry that happens when one is overwhelmed with several emotions. That and there was more to say! She let out a sound, it was probably a sob but she didn't even know she did it, because she was choking on the words.
Xavia held tighter, and just let go. At some point, he would hear the strained whisper bleating from her lips that they belonged to who hurt her, they were his babies... "The one who..." was all she could get out... She probably didn't need to finish because she had been honest with him before. They couldn't belong to the man who she had been with shortly after when she was out of her mind with grief over the situation...
And then she pulled back to look at him when she calmed down enough to talk, saying, "I couldn't cry in front of Derek and haven't told Kendra yet... I know she will be really angry and want to do somet'ing." She took several, calming breaths, then took down the water like she was quite dehydrated. "I am going to be f-fine," she hiccuped out, "It will be. Damn it, it has to be fine." She grabbed for the pack of tissues she kept in her bag and started to mop up the mess on her face.

Your place. I will walk. Be there in a bit. Need air, please don't worry.
So she walked... She took her time, and was there in a half hour. She showed up, her hair simply thrown up the way it had been the day she had asked for the date, and she was dressed in something that looked kind of new and meant for the growing belly she was putting on, a simple maxi in white and black floral. Hell, she was starting to show pretty fast, but if he was surprised now, seeing the picture she was going to show him would give some insight onto why. Her feet had comfortable, rather than fashionable shoes on since they were kind of swollen.
She went through the buzzer/knock ritual, of course, and once let in, would first move in for just a hug, letting him decide if he wanted to kiss her or whatever, but she wasn't going after anything else for the moment, she didn't look like she felt so hot. "Hi," she said, mid hug, and then pulled away after, unless he did choose to smooch.
She didn't immediately say what was going on, one didn't just launch into it like that. She moved to sit on his couch and waited for him to sit too. Her eyes were wary as they regarded him. She was worried that this would freak him out, but she would rather not lie to him. He would know soon anyways that there were two kids, not one. I mean, what was she going to do, call him from the delivery room and drop the bomb on him then?
Assuming he sat down, she continued to hesitate, then said in a thick voice, "I told you I would let you know how t'ings went wit' ultrasound, but what happened hit me pretty hard and I am still... Kind of trying to let it settle in my head." She kind of cleared her throat and pulled out the little picture they gave women after their ultrasound, and at first she simply held it to her, then slowly handed it over to him. It wouldn't take long to see that their were two fetuses sharing a placenta, especially since he was going to be a doctor, surely he would have seen a few of these by now.

As much as she wanted to stay there, stay cocooned within his apartment and ignore reality for a little bit longer. Truth was, she had never been so relaxed around any guy, not even Delilah's dad. Her eyes met his and she gave a half smile. "My mom worries because of t'e t'ings I went t'rough when I was younger. She knows it is going to be okay, t'ough... She just needed to hear my voice." She knew how it was.
But eventually, she had a shower, possibly with him if he took the invitation, got dressed and went home to go on with her day.
---
She texted him every morning before work, but wasn't the type to send all kinds of texts all day long. Her words were always, Good morning, Artair, I hope you slept well. Thinking of you. She didn't freak out on him if he didn't answer, didn't call him insistently, let him be the one to call if he wanted to talk, and was not pushing for anything from him.
The morning of her ultrasound had come and gone, and he didn't get a text that morning since she had been so nervous, or the next because she was brooding... And then she sent him a text saying,Got some news, needed to process. May I see you?
"Sure..." Things were packed up... She gave the hummus and the pickles and the pita bread to someone who looked like they could eat a good meal. They took the taxi all the way back to the mansion, Xavia gave the cabby some money and went to get her van, which was cheaper than taking a cab again, though she probably needed to put gas in. But whatever.
The drive back into town kind of took a toll on Xavia, she was so friggen tired by the time they got to her house that she was kind of swaying on her feet. She led the way into her house, and the dark haired whirlwind that was her daughter came a runnin. Of course, the tired momma scooped the tiny thing up and immediately sniffed at her hair because she was sure her mom had given the kid a bath, and she always loved that fresh smell of baby shampoo. She hoisted Lilah up onto her hip, and the shy girl with those eyes that gave her condition away, peered toward Kendra with her finger in her mouth as she always did, then she hid her face against her mom and giggled.
"She is kind of shy, but she will be your best friend for an animal cookie." She nodded and her own mother came out, and there was much fussing over Kendra, and speaking rapidly in her native tongue. She introduced folks to each other, passed the kid to her mother, and then stopped and drooled as she noticed that her favorite thing ever was being cooked. "Mama, is that Balushka? Mmmmm." Mama, who told Kendra to call her that, grinned and nodded.
There was a feast... Balushka(Cabbage, onions, and noodles), Goulash (Beef, tomatoes, green pepper, paprika, dumplings, and seasonings), Hungarian Cucumber Salad (Cucumbers, dill, onions, vinegar), and Hunza bread. All stuff that could be grazed upon, for the most part. The house was filled with delicious smells.
Xavia knew dinner would be awesome, but wasn't worried about food for that moment. She wanted to get Kendra to the first room... It was pretty cozy, the room she led her up to... Tastefully decorated, mostly in neutrals to allow for the boarder to decorate whenever one came. "Bat'room is right down t'e hall, t'ere is a clawfoot tub. Help yourself. You relax for a while, okay?"
She sank up to her shoulders in mud. Oh yeah... That was a plant girl for ya. She leaned her head back as the person attending her rubbed the same type of mud all over her face and stuck cucumbers on her eyes. "You didn't have to blow my phone up t'e day after t'e date, Derek. I was safe." She said with amusement as she brought up the many texts... "Nosy bugger. But t'ank you for treating my kid and mom so awesome."
This was the life, she thought. "How are you feeling right now? T'is is nice!" she said to Allegra. The girl had stopped her chattering and gave in to relaxing.
There was all kinds of things to look at. While Janelle got a good look around, Xavia followed calmly so the conversation could keep going. She listened while the girl explained she had graduated and that she didn't get her name. "Well, since you are no student, we can skip formalities... I am Xavia... And you are?" She had an interesting name, and would sound it out a little. It was always a surprise when people who knew how her name was spelled to know it didn't sound like Xavier, but instead, Saviah, with the long s.
"You're here now, you are welcome here, and I like to give money away, so pick a charity if you won't take pay."
She had answered with ease, not phased at all by the questions... AFter Janelle got the food for the animals, Xavia directed her to the roomy looking animal cages and two, fat and happy looking critters.
She made absolutely no protests as his mouth met hers after a warning. She got up from the chair and did that thing girls did where they twine about a person to be carried back to wherever the man had in mind, making those sounds in her throat as the darkness of censorship dropped like a curtain over them...

Mmmf... She lay in that haze from before, quite satisfied, quite content. She had fielded a call from her mother, letting her know that yes, she was fine. It was right after round... two? or was it three? She forgot... When she got off the phone, she kind of burst into peals of laughter at the situation, not having received a scolding from her worried mother for quite a long time. It was too cute for words. Mama had said she was about to call the police looking for her. But Xavia calmed mom down and then things calmed down.
Currently, she relaxed against him, her body perpendicular to his with he head resting on his chest. She had told him an amusing story from the mansion, how she had to deal with stubborn teenagers all day when she worked. "So t'ere is one kid, and he always does his homework on time and gives me t'ese smartass answers on his homework and tests. Just yesterday, he turned in his last assignment for semester, and he wasn't a smartass t'is time. So I ask him why he isn't giving his usual answers, and he says t'at he is gonna miss me. Sometimes it is stuff like t'at t'at makes teaching wort' it."
Xavia kind of turned her head, she was smiling and genuinely affected by how the kid answered. Her eyes were kind of misty at the thought of all those kids graduating and moving on. "Kind of reminds me why I started fighting for our kind, you know?"

It wasn't even close to dark yet, but it was passed lunch time, she let him make lunch and they talked about whatever. It was really comfortable for her, if not for him, she thought as she leaned her chin on her fist, watching him and giving opportunity for him to talk about himself. She honestly had forgotten time by that point, and brought up the need for a hot shower. "I don't really want to lead up to leaving... But I know we have to come up for air sometime." Indeed, she kept getting texts from Derek, and she couldn't turn her phone off because of having a special needs kiddo at home. That nosy Derek. "Are you sick of me yet?"
She looked at the picture and then smiled, "He is cute." She grinned at the picture and finally said, "Maybe I can get you to take a picture of me so I can send it to Artair so he has one." Hell, she had taken a selfie that morning... Something she had never wanted to even do before... Her sitting with her back to her mirror and looking over her shoulder. She chickened out on sending it to him, though, and deleted it. It didn't seem like her type of classy.
"I am not going to give you the juice, okay... But I really like him... Just... happy when I am around him. He makes me laugh and he's so good looking. I wonder what he sees in me." She was already ready to order. Kendra had gotten her wanting those damn onion rings, even though they were so fatty and they gave her bubble gut. The babies liked it when she ate them, why else would she crave them?
When the waitress came, she ordered a double order of those and some fries to go with her veggie burger, and vegan condiments to go with those things.

She blushed at his compliment, as if hearing it from a guy was something new, which it wasn't. Xavia was not a vain creature in general... She dressed nice because she liked nice clothing against her skin, which made sense given how scarred up she was beneath them, how sometimes one had more sensitive skin in scarred spots... Then again, she was also conditioned to wear nice clothing, given that her family was loaded when she was a kid. But compliments were usually quietly bringing thanks, or she ignored them, depending on who gave them. She clearly liked it when he, in particular, complimented her. Her eyes met his and she said, "You're very sweet."
She finished her orange juice and got up to take care of her last dish, then moved, once again to sit down. "To be honest, I t'ink you look pretty good, yourself... And I don't t'ink you wearing a kilt would hurt my eyes in the least, but I am not sure how long you want to keep me here." There was a certain way she said that, and the way she swept her eyes up and down with her brow lifted, that gave away exactly what she was getting at.
And boy, did she picture that regardless of whether he wore the kilt or not, causing her to swallow and then clear her throat. She wasn't going to be the one to keep making the first move, however much she wanted to go to him right then and there and show him what the thoughts made her feel. Damn, maybe it was the pregnancy hormones going into overtime, telling her that she needed certain things, or maybe it was just that she had come to really appreciate this Scotsman for certain things... Either way, her face was flushed again and it was his fault. Nope, let him offer if he wanted it this time... Don't be such a floozy, lady.
"So far, I am not seeing anyt'ing to make me want to come here again, performing or ot'erwise," she shrugged softly, though she didn't say it in anger. "No lounge... I am drinking water, but I wonder if I can even get free drinks. I am pretty tired. But t'at spot light is killer... Pretty hot. Would make me wilt if I stay too long under." Literally, she thought. Sometimes being a plant person kind of sucked. It was just like being a regular plant in some ways... She needed to be watered, she needed just enough sunlight, and certain temperatures made her sickly or injured her. Yay for that!
She signaled for another glass of water, but this time just to sip on while she waited out the damn manager for her paycheck, which would be at the end of the night.
"You know... I might." She took up one of the deep fried rings of goodness, never having had one, and gave it a try. She flagged down the waitress, told her to box two of the three things, then bring her a huge order of the onion rings instead. She was going to give the food she didn't eat to the homeless, rather than throw it out. "And some french fries please..." The waitress nodded and was about to go away when Xavia said, "Oh, and can I get some vegan cheese on those and some vegan mayo on the side and green onions?" She was probably driving the waitress nuts, but the girl had the good grace to laugh and say, "Sure thing."
She helped herself to another onion ring because they were so freakin delicious, and it made her tummy happy. She, herself, was a dainty eater, but there were crumbs at the corners of her lips that she kept licking at every time they would appear. She dug back into the eggplant and finished that off in several bites. "T'is was good idea," she murmured around her last bite. The other food came out in short order, and she gingerly picked up a freshly fried onion ring and nibbled.
"Kendra IS a lovely name," she agreed around the huge bite she took, which was a first for her. "I t'ought about naming a boy after my late papa's nickname, Gus. But I t'ink maybe it is better to call him Andrew after t'e boy who got killed because of me. I can still call him Gus." She was totally at peace with bringing up her dead, high school sweetheart. It wasn't sad anymore.
"It might be just t'e t'ing... You don't have to worry about anyt'ing. Don't be surprised if Derek shows up unannounced... I might have given him a key." She chuckled and gave a bit of a hug and a pat to her friend. Then she caught a wiff of the food she ordered and she... frowned. The pickles were ok, so was the egg plant... But the hummus had her feeling a little green around the gills. Pressing her lips together, she started to munch on the pickles. Nope... Nopppe... The whole pickle thing became a myth to her. So she pushed that away and just nommed on eggplant, which was pretty good.
She sighed around a bite and then leaned back against her seat, wondering why in the hell she wanted the other two things if her kid(s) weren't having it. Color her irritated at her bipolar stomach. "I will pay for t'e t'ings I ended up not eating, don't even t'ink about it." And she meant it.
And then she went to answer her about the kid thing. "I don't know. I am still kind of overwhelmed by two pregnancy tests being positive and me having to go to an actual doctor to make sure baby is fine. To be honest, I do not know how far along I am yet... I may have... Slept wit' someone a few weeks after what happened..." She winced and then quickly explained, "I wasn't in my right mind at t'e time and I just wanted to feel nice again, I don't even know t'e man. Ugh, I am horrible. But Karrl instigated it. I just.. went wit' it." She sounded like she hated herself a little for that bit, but she didn't know where he was. "I was lonely and... I hadn't slept since t'at... happened..."
After the waitress was gone, at least for a time, Kendra confessed what was going on and Xavia. It was her turn to try not to roll over and cry. She truly felt for her, she understood completely and utterly just how hard it was. "I know... And it is ok, Kendra, it really is. You will be okay because I am here and you have your friends, I know you probably met the fabulousness that is Derek and he will look over you too. And your girlfriend." She tried to reassure her friend.
Hell, if she was into girls, Kendra would probably be first on the list of girlfriend/sig other material. Okay, so maybe she had thought about swinging the other direction romantically speaking, given what had happened. But the thought of kissing a chick just didn't stir. But then, she had never been kissed by a chick and had nothing to base that off of. My goodness, but her cheeks went a little red at that. She felt Kendra kiss her cheek and didn't care what other people thought either, it wasn't like they knew what was really going on.
Xavia let her grip her hand because she knew it made her feel better. "Maybe you should come stay at my house for a few days and meet my mot'er. She will make you feel better too. She cooks really great food and hugs and stuff... And Delilah kisses would make you feel better too." Kendra hadn't met the little one yet either. Delilah would love the stink out of Kendra, she knew that already.
"I understand t'at it is hard because I felt t'e same way... But I can't live like t'at, you know? I also can't tell you when to move on because t'at is your choice when to move on. You deserve so much better for yourself but you have to decide when enough is enough."

"I slept very well, t'ank you," she said with a smile, then ate her veggies one by one. Mmm, they were so good. "I am glad to have helped you sleep," she said softly and then got up to take care of her empty plate, washing it as soon as she was done eating. It was most likely an OCD thing. Her cup and the pan, the knife, the cutting board, everything was washed but what he was eating off of, and then she sat back down and eyed the coffee almost forlornly, but knew she couldn't go there.
And then he brought up her thoughts, and she blushed a little more, biting her lip. "Maybe." She said as she drew her knee up again. Her eyes watched him carefully now, and she resisted the urge to get up and interrupt his breakfast to show him just how much she thought about the night before. Give the man a breather, she thought to herself, and smiled into the glass of orange juice she was still working on.
"What about you, Artair?" Her brows shot up and she bit into her bottom lip. Her cheeks were still nice and pink with the directions her thoughts took her brain. My my, but she was going to have fun for whatever amount of time they would do.... whatever this was. If it was a relationship, great! But right now, she was enjoying his company, and thinking about that song where two young ladies tied a blue silk ribbon around a certain spot beneath a kilt, and she started to actually hum the song just to be silly. Then she whisper sang the words, "Ring-ding-diddle-iddy-i-de-oh..."
To be honest, about two weeks ago, it would have done the same thing to Xavia... She had been trapped in the same panic bubble. Every time she was too close to a man, she had felt waves of panic sweeping at her... Well, with the exception of Derek, seeing as he was so fabulously gay that she was immediately comfortable around him. Yes, indeed. Hell, maybe he should be here too... But she had plans to take Uncle Derek to the ultrasound to find out how far along her peanut(s) was(were). Xavia knew the feeling so well that it didn't take her long to figure out Kendra's discomfort, just by the subtle shifts in her body language. Xavia squeezed her hand and gave her a look that told her she knew.
When the waitress came by to order, she said, "I will have diet lemon lime soda, whatever you have, wit' a cherry... And t'en... I will try your eggplant parm, and hummus wit' pita." There was meat on the menu, so Kendra did not have to feel obligated for vegetarian delights. "Oh, and can I please have some pickles to snack on while we wait?" She would pay for the tip if it meant having a bunch of spears. God, she drooled at the thought.
After Kendra had a chance to get her order in, Xavia watched her friend to make sure she really was okay, her eyes searching. "I know t'ings are sh*t right now, I get it. You don't even have to say it... But I am right here."
