The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I really like the colors you put in there, Abyss!!!
Just thought I'd give it a shot since I'm bored and LOVE graphics, so here ya go. The quote is from Erica Jong. Also, I wasn't quite sure what I should put in the mirror so I made three versions of it. One is the vintage kinda dark beauty, the other is dark beauty and the last would be the crumbling city. Let me know if you would like any changes to be made.
The bear hid behind her! Well, even if Fade was not one for tearing the stuffing out of a teddy bear, she most certainly was not the right person to hide behind! Why had the bear jumped behind her? Did she look like a mutant shield? Then it hit her, it was cowering, it was afraid. "Wait, Star, why would a present from the Order run away from us? If it was sent here to harm us, it would have harmed us instead of run away, maybe it's some kind of mutant that can shrink and jumped into a teddy bear outfit to keep herself hidden because she is afraid? What if it's just a rogue robot? Or maybe it is just an intel device from the Order. Whatever it is, I didn't feel any weapons when I was holding it, did you? It has to just be an information gatherer, instead of a weapon, right?" Whatever Fade thought it was, she did not think it was a mutant from the Mansion in bear form.
Fade nearly chuckled. Why would Deathstar count to ten only to kill it at 6? That seemed like a bit of a waste for those other four numbers to not even be mentioned. Still, it was beside the point. Fade got down on her knees and then down to her stomach to look under the bed. It was much cuter without the dress, that was for sure. "Come," she said, trying to find some kind of command it would follow. "Here girl, or boy, or robot, just come here," she cooed, wiggling her clawed finger. The raptor talons might have looked scary, so she turned them invisible and wiggled her finger with dark nails. Really, they were her talons, because she did not have any fingernails under those claws, just more claw material, so when she would turn them invisible, it appeared as though she had black fingernails. "I won't hurt you if you won't hurt me, but Deathstar over there, well, she has her intentions in her name."
Hey there, went ahead and gave it a shot. I couldn't really find any non-miley beach scenes so the first one, I attempted to place him on the beach. The second one, I attempted to create a kind of darkish beach feel, with the sand texture and everything. Let me know if you want any changes
((Hymn, haven't seen you around in a while so feel free to post a reply following me, but I'm going to get Fade moving in the plot))
Sounds of the battle brought Fade back from the cautionary stance she had placed herself in. The girl in front of her had been freed but her friends were still out there and Fade had no idea what has happened to them. "Freedom is your's but there are others who are still locked away and cannot escape on their own," she warned the girl. All freedom comes with a cost, the only way to be truly free is to leave all bonds with loved ones behind and purge oneself of all emotion. Fade was free, she did not need to be there, but freedom isn't free.
With that, she dodged back out the hallway. The guard she had taken the keys from was unconscious on the ground and the group of rogue mutants had already moved forward and left a trail of guards behin. If one of her team mates had been in that group, she would have seen them, but they were not in there and she did not know where everyone was. She approached the door to the next set of cells and simply phased through it before noticing a giant hole right next to it. It had been locked electrically, so it could not be opened without force or some kind of phasing power.
There was a guard on the other side, three actually, but one of them looked young and skiddish. One of the guards raised his gun and took aim. There were only a few milliseconds to act and Fade immediately changed to her phasing state, it was easy since she had just come out of a phase, but even the sound of a gun can cause her to lose focus and she braced herself for the gun shot. It fired, she felt nothing, and she shook her head to regain focus before launching an attack. No, she was not very powerful, no, she did not lift weights. But she was very good at surprise attacks and she turned herself invisible and jumped as high as she could. Phasing her claws into the ceiling, she kicked up her legs. One of them attached to the ceiling, phasing her raptor toe nails into the cement while the other landed directly under the guard with the gun's jaw. You could hear the sound of the blow and the other two aimed their weapons directly in front of him. She took the moment to drop from the ceiling onto the man, taking the weapon. With one swift movement, she brought the gun down on the back of his head and he stopped moving.
The other two looked confused and continued to point their guns in every which direction. She grabbed the bigger one by the neck and pushed with all of her might to restrain him against the wall, he fought back and wiggled free. Fade jumped back up and caught the ceiling with her hands before kicking him in the jaw, same as the other man. He did not go down and she kicked him again. Deciding not to hit him like that again, she grabbed the gun and fired it. It did not hit any of his vital organs, it his his leg and he yelled out before dropping to the ground in pain. While his hands grabbed his wound, she took his gun and kicked him in the face. A little harsh of an attack, yes, but she could not bring him down and she did not enjoy just running all the time. She turned visible and aimed both guns at the skiddish guard. A few sputters from his mouth begged her to not fire, but she cocked the gun and prepared the fire. It was all an act, she was bluffing and he fell for it. He dropped his weapon and took off.
Adrenaline tended to bring out the worst in everyone and no one tends to think about exactly what they should do before they do it. She scolded herself for using a weapon and dropped both of them. She was much better just running away from a fight, but for some odd reason, she could feel the adrenaline urging her to fight, urging her to do something rather than just sit there and wait for everyone to leave. She continued forward, still visible, no more running.
In the next section, she could see three familiar faces. One of them was leaning on another while one walked ahead. It was Shawn, Sam and Jewel. There was no need for any 'hey, guys, you ok?' so she simply said "I am fine, where are the others?" before she slithered her way to the other side of Sam and supported him. She figured they knew where they were going whereas she just got lucky to run into them. God, Sam was cold, he was freezing, well, that is just what happens when there's an ice elemental mutant around. Actually, come to think of it, Fade had never learned what his power was, so I guess this is when she learns, right?
The way that Abyss called it Hockeyball as well only made Fade think that it was indeed called exactly that. Although she had seen an actual hockey ball and it looked more like a hockey pancake. Still, sports were odd, there was that really weird one called...um...shuffling? Scuffing? That weird one played with brooms and ice. It was on TV once, and it was actually an Olympic sport! Who would've known? How odd indeed. He mentioned his own sport. Some form of Shotput, or whatever that was called. "What can you throw and how far?" she asked. It was like he was the giant football player and she was the little track runner.
She paused at the other than me statement and realized he was, in fact, a secret. She could not go to the Mansion and talk about her day with the giant red man, he was notoriously known for being with the Order. 'Sleeping with the enemy', that's what they call it. Then again, they wouldn't be far from the truth. "Fears? I would say that my fear is my heart just phasing through the rest of my body and dropping to the ground." Something close to that had happened at KP when Shade had punched her and she phased through it all, except her heart. It never really beat the same again. It made her realize just how afraid she was of losing an organ while phasing.
Deathstar began talking about what kind of a music box it was, an antique. Of course, everything in a store is an antique. But if you want to find a real antique, go to Goodwill, most people don't realize they are giving something valuable away and most buyers don't realize just how much of a deal they are getting. Then again, how would Fade know? She believed that the only thing good after aging was wine. It was a cute little music box though, she enjoyed this antique. Deathstar mentioned Raph. She must not have known. Must not have known that Fade had left the Mansion in search of him only to return empty handed. Must not have known that the chance of Fade ever seeing Raph again was about as possible as her winning the lottery without even buying a ticket.
However, Fade was not even able to speak up about it when the bear moved. Fade's eyebrow raised as she stared down at it and Deathstar grabbed her knife. Immediately, Fade let go of the bear and phased through it and off the bed. Even if it was not just a teddy bear, she was not going to throw it across the room in confusion. What if it was one of those impact bombs? If she threw it, it would detonate! "Whoa, wait, we should try to learn more about it before stabbing it!" she said in a bit of a high pitched voice. It was not that she was afraid, she was confused, really effing confused. How exactly do you approach a moving teddy bear? "Was it heavy? Some kind of robot?" she asked, trying to see if it had a chip from far away.
Deathstar picked up the bear as Fade mentally face palmed herself. Why hadn't she touched the bear? It was like she did everything else but touch it, what a loser. Star began to go on about how she had no clue where it came from, it just appeared. Odd, Fade would never take anything that was was just left outside of her room, not unless it had a little love letter with it. But who would give Fade a love letter? She was not really the flirtatious type, even if she had her eye candy. Well, actually she is good at flirting, after a shot or two of "courage". "So Freds in your world wear dresses? I always pinned Fred for a dry cleaned suit!" she smiled, trying to wrap her head around a boy teddy bear in a dress.
Then there was talk of a present for Fade. Something reminds people of Fade? The question of what it could be continued to build up and built up with anticipation. What on Earth could just fit Fade? She was given a brown box. "Well geez, I wish you woulda warned me you were coming so I could get you a present, some crap of a friend you got here, Star," she smiled. She was being sarcastic, to an extent, she would have liked to have gotten Deathstar something. Inside the box was a little music box. She had seen one of these before, even had one when she was a little kid in the foster home. Her foster parents believed it would give her appreciation for music at a young age, so a song from Chicago played gently at night when she went to bed. No matter how much she hated her foster parents, the box did help her sleep. And now this box fancied the music from Phantom of the Opera (she saw the movies to both musicals, she has never seen a broadway).
Fade opened the box to see the little balerina pop up and start spinning around. Maybe she would replace it with some sort of a tiny mutant, not because she hated humans, no, Jenny was fine with humans, it was because Ballerina dancers always seemed so uptight and strict, hair pulled back in a tight bun, tight clothes and composure. Maybe she could put something less up-tight. The constellations that formed on the ceiling were absolutely stunning. Now she did not have to freeze her ass off when she looked at the stars, they were in her bedroom. The swan twinkled in the light of the constellations and Fade smiled. "I like it! It's very cute!" she said before hugging her friend again. No one had really gotten her a gift before, so it was really nice. Turning to Fred, she held the music box out and said "Whadayou think, Fred-o?"
"Oh yes, of course," Fade smiled as Deathstar wrapped her arms around the little spy. "Stuffed bears can't talk and they can't criticize you. They will give you a hug no matter what you've gone through, so I can see that," she glanced over at the bear with a pleasant smile. The smile quickly disappeared and she raised an eyebrow. Was that bear actually looking at her? It might be the position Layla put him in, but he was looking right at her, she could swear he was. Fade had not been the only one who caught the different bear and Deathstar spoke up. It seemed Deathstar had seen a movement while Fade just looked over to see it staring at her. Perhaps it was able to move without Fade seeing and Deathstar caught it, or maybe just a bug flew by and Layla saw it. Whatever it was, it did not change the fact that the damn bear was still staring at her! It gave her an odd chill down her back, almost like a tickle instead of a chill. Who could be afraid of a teddy bear staring at them? Now, if it was some kind of distorted stuffed animal, like Chucky, then she would have that chill running down her spine.
"I don't think it was staring at me. Look at it now, it's like it's watching me," she waved her hand out in front of her face to see if he would follow it and bent down a little to get eye-level with the little stuffed creature. "What a strange toy, who gave it to you?" she asked, still eyeing it as she moved around a little, waiting for it to follow and her to pounce on the imposter. Maybe the Order had made little teddy bear cameras or it was one of those motion sensors. Perhaps a mutant was controlling it! Wasn't there someone called Luna that could control this bear? Perhaps she is behind all this. Still, it could just be a cute bear, Fade did not jump to conclusions. "Has this bear ever done this before?" Out of pure politeness, even though she wouldn't think Deathstar would be the type to do this, Fade asked "Is it a boy or a girl? And what's it's name?"
So maybe things were getting a bit more boring these days, or it was just one of those kinds of days that nothing really seemed to suit her fancy. Fade had made her way down to the gym and ran a little, she watched some TV, she showered and meticulously shaved her legs, she tried to cook something but remembered she couldn't even read any recipes, nothing fit her for the day. In a bored state, she began to mope around the Mansion, hoping that something would come up. This was a Mansion for Mutants, how could it be this boring? Couldn't a pyro just accidently set his bed on first and Fade had to help put it out? Could someone accidently send a hoard of mice down the hall and she had to calm all the screaming girls down? Could, well, something happen?
As she just walked around, she began to drag her feet, almost as if that was more amusing than walking. A few sounds reached her ears, that of frustration. From the sound of it, someone was upset and confused, which was not Fade's forte. That psychology thing was the other X's forte. She could see Raina being the comforting oh come here sweetheart kind of girl. Hell, she could even see Shawn comforting someone...speaking of which, wouldn't really bother the redhead to have Shawn or Sam comforting her. Then again, she was not the type to want to look vulnerable, but she could still look, right?
The sounds suddenly switched to joy, or some form of joy and the voice sounded familiar. She glanced around the corner to see someone she did not expect to see ever again. "Well hell, out of everyone in this Mansion, I never thought I would see your red highlighted hair, Star," she smiled. "Especially not with a teddy bear. Didn't pin you for the cuddly type," she chuckled. Layla was a complicated woman. She was tough, real tough, but just like everyone else. Fade had seen a different side of the girl, of course, not as much as maybe her family had seen. She looked down at the picture, Syn was in it. It always slipped Fade's mind that the two were related, what two explosive ladies.
Truth be told, she did not expect Venus to actually say something that he was afraid of. Fade had pinned the guy (no innuendo intended) to be one of those kinds who would say that his biggest fear was a sudden beer drought or lesbian epidemic, something that men were afraid of but knew would never happen. Not to mention how Venus did not know where the tv was and he did not enjoy sports. That was a double whammy! What an interesting man.
"Good, sports are boring," she snorted in a sort of indifferent way. "I'm not a normal sports girl. I don't like Baseball and Basketball and Hockeyball," she said, clearly, she did not know her sports if she thought everything was played with a ball. "But I enjoy my own sports, like climbing buildings or grabbing ahold of a car while it's still moving so I can hitch a ride," she smiled. It was her own form of extreme hitch-hiking thanks to her marvelous claws.
((SOOOO sorry, I got caught up in Romania and forgot to post here))
A wee? What were all these new game systems? They had a QTip or a QBox, a PST, now these little games people played while just walking around. Supposedly, this Wee was one of those "in the zone" games. And wasn't Mario Kart something where they got to drive? Did it have instructions on how to drive? Fade never learned. "Yeah, that sounds like fun," she said, not wishing to be left out of the loop. She could at least fake that she knew what a Wee did.
She grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, there she did her part. Unfortunately, it was the only thing she knew how to do, and how to turn the channels. There were some plug in areas that the white box on the floor was hooked up to, so that was a start, but currently, only a Valentine's Day Episode of some kind of sitcom was on. Fade never watched TV, just movies, so she had no clue what it was about, only that a couple was laughing on the screen.
