The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Persi didn't immediately notice that the cat girl had climbed down; he was busy glaring at arrow boy. By the time he did notice she was on the ground and a bit away from the tree; he'd only noticed because he watched the arrow that arrow boy fired at her. Apparently arrow boy didn't have very good aim; that was convenient.
Persi forgot about that when he realized the cat girl had wandered off with his sketchbook, though. He blinked, then jumped and started climbing down after her. "Hey, wait! Sketchbook!"
He had to stop at the bottom of the tree to pick up a couple of pencils that had fallen on his way down, then worked on brushing dirt off of them as he jogged over to the cat girl, and attempted to put himself between her and arrow boy again.

Blake... was not entirely sure how Andrea didn't know what woods contained. Apparently she didn't, though. "It depends on the woods. Some of them have bears and stuff, but some of them don't have anything worse than skunks and foxes. And those mostly just smell bad." That last detail probably wasn't needed, but then, if she thought bears were in every forest.... "There are official camping grounds, with park rangers and stuff. They have to be safe, cause someone would sue them if they weren't. So... I mean, if you're allergic to bees or something, being far away from town would be bad, but otherwise it's not dangerous unless you go looking for really wild out of the way places. There aren't many of those near here."
Well at least she was okay with those. Hopefully someone with snakes growing out of her head wouldn't be afraid of bees, but then, why would she be afraid of bears, either? "That's good. Did you have fun?"
...And... was brown a normal color for people to turn? Blake didn't think so, but then she was green, so it wasn't like she was normal colored to start with. "Are you okay?"

Persi paused in his syrup-dragging, and blinked at Andrea. "Um... yes. You can. Hulu is a site that has a bunch of movies and TV shows. I think you can watch a certain amount free per... day or week... no matter what, but if you want to watch more without waiting you have to make an account. I'm not sure if you have to pay for the account, or if there are different versions and you only pay for some, or what. And... Netflix is a company that you rent movies from. You make an account and a list of things you want to watch, and pay them something per month, and they'll send you three DVDs, and whenever you finish watching one you send it back, and they'll send you the next thing on your list. Or they'll just stream videos to your computer, I'm not sure if you have to register the specific computer though, or just sign in so they know it's you."
...Hopefully Persi hadn't broken Andy with that much information. He waved to the large snake as it appeared, waved back with its tongue, and then disappeared again.

"They can be pretty amusing, yeah. So many of them don't even seem to know what they're doing." Hypocrites were a group that Persi very distinctly disliked. The more important the subject, the more he disliked them. ...And apparently cat girl was not all that intelligent. "I don't think you're really supposed to dare them to kill you, though. That doesn't normally end well."
Okay, so hypocrite arrow boy was also condescending. Persi was officially on cat girl's side now. Persi considered, then turned to the cat girl and offered his sketchbook to her. "Could you hold this?"
Once she was, and he didn't have to figure out how to hold it and climb at once, he picked a path, and within a few steps reached a branch that put him more or less in between arrow boy and cat girl's head. It would probably still be possible for arrow boy to shoot her--certainly would, since he could always just move faster through the air than Persi could keep up--but at least this should make it more difficult to hit her without hitting Persi. Especially if he was aiming for her head. Persi settled onto the branch, and kept ahold of another in case one of them startled him again. "She hasn't attacked me yet. The only person here who's attacked anyone is you."

"Oh." Blake's first thought was to suggest that she wear a hood and keep the snakes inside it, but then he thought about what angry, trapped snakes might do to the neck next to them. Not to mention the missing, writhing hood that would result. Probably not a good idea, then.
"Hm." Blake was running out of things to talk about. That wouldn't be good; she'd been fidgeting less while they talked. What else was related to parades? Or that sort of old fashioned family holiday stuff she seemed to enjoy? "Have you been camping? Or picnicking?"

Cara's surprise was matched by a strangled noise and small, automatic jump back from Persi. Where had she come from?
Push? Okay, Persi knew he was weak, but he wasn't that weak. That was a poke, not a push.
...Or she meant something entirely different. Oh. Persi shifted, and his eyes landed on the ground again. "It's okay." He wasn't entirely sure that was true, or even what he was saying was okay, but it was at least the polite thing to say. That put it ahead of the very few other things he could think of to say, which were mostly semi-hysterical demands to know where she'd appeared from.
And... yeah. This was why he'd just decided to avoid her. Persi's gaze stayed firmly on the ground, no matter how he tried to convince himself that was rude, too. "Um... sorry. That I... ran off. I...." Am still really freaked out by being kicked out and my parents wanting to kill me, and panicked at the idea of you finding out about it, because for some reason I thought you might tell my parents where I was. That didn't seem like a good reason. Nor was it one he wanted to explain. "Sorry."

"Yeah, they're great, you'll like them. There's even a baby dragon." Not in every movie, and it wasn't there for long, but still. A baby dragon. Persi would like a baby dragon. "I have--oh." No, he didn't have the movies anymore, and even if he did, there was certainly no way his parents would allow them to be lent to a mutant. "Well... there's Netflix, that's more convenient but you need an account. And Blockbuster, I'm not sure where one is but there's got to be one somewhere nearby." Probably. Depending on how far you thought counted as 'near,' anyway. "Or you could watch them online. Hulu... you can watch some free there, but you need an account to watch more than a certain amount, so you might need to sign up to watch the movies without being interrupted. And there are probably other sites like that, but I don't know them off the top of my head." Along with Viewtube, of course, but Harry Potter could afford to stalk it and take down copies of the movies. Plus, Persi got the impression that Andrea might disapprove of watching them there, since Persi was pretty sure it was technically illegal.
"Um... well, I guess it depends on how old you are. Every generation has some." And Persi could think of several, really. He used the edge of the fork to drag syrup into thin lines between where cinnamon had fallen. "Finding Nemo is one you might like."

Blake wasn't sure where Rhodes was, but Greece he was familiar with. Sort of. "That would be nice. I'd like being able to go to the beach all the time." Or to see it, that would be nice too. Kind of pointless and sentimental, plus way too expensive for his family, but it would be nice.
"Why not?" If parades were the point of the holiday, wouldn't it make more sense to go to them? At least a few times, it seemed like something that people would go out of their way to do.
"Wh--oh." Right. Snakes growing out of her head. The ones that Blake was currently drawing. Yeah, that might make parades a little more complicated. "Have you been to any parades here? I don't know if they're the same, probably not, but at least they're parades."

Blake paused, blinked, and then went back to sketching. So that was why her family hadn't celebrated Halloween; they weren't American. Clearly they should, though; paper kites sounded kind of interesting, especially if there were a lot of unique ones, but also kind of... boring, for a holiday. "I didn't know anyone made kites out of paper anymore. Where are you from?" At least, not after kindergarten. He vaguely recalled making paper kites as a class project then. And that they hadn't worked well at all.
That sounded very... homey. Like would happen in a TV show about the fifties, maybe. "Did you ever go see the parades?" Really, Blake wasn't very fond of parades either, but that was mostly due to there being far, far too many people around for them. Watching them on TV didn't sound any more fun, though; at least at the real ones, his family would pay much less attention to them, and he could pretend not to hear them if he wanted to.

"It's good. It's part of a trilogy... well, two trilogies, actually, I think. There might be more planned." Blake had, admittedly, not kept the best track. He'd enjoyed the books, but they were still books; other things were more fun.
"Really? But it's the best holiday." At least, as far as fun went. It wasn't the most moral holiday--that depended on how you celebrated holidays, anyway--but it definitely won for fun. "You get... well, little kids get free candy. But it's still a good reason to buy way more candy than you need, and eat the extra. And you can buy all kinds of cheap candy the next day, too." And dress up however you wanted, which was also fun, even if Persi didn't always have a good idea for it.
He'd finished sketching the snakes--the largest one especially, but all of them together as well, and a couple of the more interesting poses that smaller snakes got into. So he moved on to sketching Andrea, trying to get it done before she thought to ask. If he had time, he'd do more detailed drawings next, but getting sketches first seemed like a good idea.

"Oh." Well... that wouldn't be much of a difference for Persi, anyway. Some friendly and some hostile people was... how the world worked, as far as he knew. He'd never been to a place where there weren't some people who hated him. Sure, in church they (well, the adults) made an attempt to pretend they were trying to hide it, but it was still pretty obvious. A place where everyone was friendly would be... bizarre. And possibly make Persi suspect mind control.
...Oh. Okay, breaking laws was a bit less normal. Yeah, Persi could see the problem there. Living with criminals seemed like it could be a bit of a problem. Suddenly Sanctuary seemed less appealing. "Yeah, that... would be."
"You should, they're great!" How she had managed not to watch them, Persi had no idea. But clearly it needed to be fixed. "And everyone knows them, even if you don't like them you've got to watch them just so you'll know when everyone's talking about them."

Okay, apparently that was not the answer. Persi jumped and reached for the cat girl as she started to fall, but she caught herself before he could do much of anything (and it was unlikely that he'd have managed to do anything useful anyway), so he dropped his hand. And then ducked, immediately after her tail smacked his face. "Sorry! I didn't mean you're old, I meant I'm young. Er. I'm still a kid. Sorry!" And having some difficulty creating a coherent apology. It wasn't very easy to call someone older without calling them old.
And then the arrow boy answered, and Persi was blinking up at him instead. "...Do your insults always sound like you ate a dictionary? Because they're really not effective when everyone's busy laughing at you for sounding stuck up." Persi would know. There was a reason he no longer attempted such insults, after all.

Persi wasn't entirely sure how he managed not to run into anyone while he hurried down the sidewalk. That he wasn't running helped, though he was moving about as fast as he could without running, and that only because actually running would attract too much attention. Despite that, he couldn't quite see; he could, but the instant he wasn't currently seeing or hearing any given thing the memory of it was completely gone, and his brain only seemed to be interpreting what it saw enough to not run into anyone. All the rest of it seemed to be occupied running in circles and babbling in fear too quickly to even finish a word.
He got a few blocks away before he had to stop at a corner, and the panic almost immediately started draining away. That... hadn't really been justified, entirely. It wasn't like she knew him, he could always have made something up, just said he'd ask his parents to call, and she'd never know the difference. He frowned down at the sidewalk. Yeah, that had been stupid... but he really didn't like that topic. Those topics. School and parents were both just... bad right now.
...And he still had the cup. Persi scowled at it as soon as he noticed. What kind of store gave out actual glasses anyway? Sure it felt better than having his hands frozen immediately because of a plastic cup, but still. It meant that he had to go back.
...That was going to suck. Having to go in and explain that he'd accidentally stolen the glass and could they please not arrest him for it or anything would be horrible even if they decided to actually believe him. And really, who would believe that he ran away with the glass without noticing because someone asked him about school? But even if they did believe him Cara would be there and he's have to explain himself to her... he had no idea how to do that.
...Maybe he could wait until she left. Then at least he'd only have one problem to deal with. It would be rude to avoid her, but probably not ruder considering he'd already run away, so... he couldn't fix that. So he'd go find the store, then find somewhere nearby to wait for her to leave. That would work. Well, as close as it could get to working, anyway. Persi sighed and turned around.

"No, just the brats." The guy seemed to be less annoyed now. Weird; Persi had no idea why that would be. Hopefully he'd get annoyed again soon, though. Persi wasn't sure how else to get rid of him. "Other people leave when I tell them too."
Hm. How to get rid of him. Annoying him into leaving didn't seem to be working, and just telling him to leave clearly wasn't. Persi couldn't think of much else. "Don't you have something better to do than annoy me?"

Yep, definitely sarcastic. Melodramatically sarcastic, even. Persi had... well, less of an objection to those than to most annoyances; at least they were entertaining, and normally aware of how annoying they were being. "You do. Hopefully no one steps on it. I've heard that's painful." From friends' dogs, mostly, but still. The principle probably applied.
Okay, Persi had probably earned that. And significantly more, for that matter, so he could put up with having his intelligence mocked. It wasn't like he was smart, and missing the wings, even if it was only for a minute, was spectacular. "No, as far as I know it's just me. The dye's to distract people from it." Not really, although now that he thought of it, it might do it. It certainly distracted them from everything else about Persi, so probably did that too.
"Drawing." Persi turned one of the books he wasn't currently working with toward the winged boy; this particular one was a collection of art by an artist who tended to do fantasy work. A lot of it was book covers and trading cards, and most of the rest he'd done without any sort of commission, though it didn't say whether or how he sold any of it. "I was bored, mostly."
