The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Like what?" Apart from skipping school and it generally being a waste, Persi wasn't sure what you could be open about outside of it and not in one. Well, talking and wearing hats and other things that schools didn't allow in class, but that probably wasn't what she meant either.
Loving movies was something Persi could understand. Granted, he could pick a favorite, but still; he understood why she was confused. "There are a lot of good ones."
...That, however, was not one Persi would include among them. At least, not the ones he liked. "Yeah... I dunno, that one's kinda boring to me...." And sappy. And cliche. And generally everything Persi was still inclined to make grossed out faces at. "I like Harry Potter better." Some more than others, sure, but any of them were better than sappy family movies.

That was helpful. Slightly painful where the nails dug into Persi's wrist, but helpful. Especially if any more surprises decided to appear.
...Unless those surprises were in the form of more arrows, anyway. Hopefully they wouldn't be; Persi couldn't dodge anywhere close to fast enough. He didn't attempt to free his hand until after he'd carefully turned so he was sitting sideways on the branch, facing toward the source of the arrow and sort of toward the cat girl, and closed the sketchbook so he could hold it. "Yeah, thanks." His eyes kept darting up to the arrow.
"...You know... him?" Cat girl didn't seem to be fond of arrow boy, which made some sense if he made a habit of shooting arrows at her. How she would have gotten to know him--relatively well, apparently, from the way they argued--was less clear. Persi was pretty sure that people didn't normally get to know their enemies well enough to banter like that, at least when the enemy was of the attempting-to-kill-you level.
...Apparently these two did know each other, however. There weren't many ways for that to happen, that Persi knew of. He looked between them a few times, came to an entirely logical conclusion, and turned toward arrow boy. "Is she your ex or something? I promise I'm way not old enough to hit on her!"

"Knights and dragons are cool." Not quite enough to make Blake read much, but they were cool. And occasionally he read when he had been assured a book was worth it. "There's one that has both... To Light A Candle, I think. Have you read it?" Probably not, to Blake's knowledge not many people knew it, but he didn't really keep track of that. Plus, she could always just be one of the people that had read it.
The snake... was made to continue facing him. That was nice. "Thanks. And yeah. I can think of pictures, but not really stories...." As English class thankfully no longer proved. One of the few improvements high school had made over the previous grades. Not that Persi couldn't write stories... he just couldn't write good ones.
"Like on Halloween?" There were always a few goddesses floating around then, and Greek was pretty easy to do with sheets. Persi never had himself, but he'd seen it done plenty of times. Maybe if she still liked them, he could try drawing that. He could probably pull off the fabric....

"Um...." Persi still wasn't convinced about this going looking for the pink haired guy thing. Generally the solution to a bully was to avoid or ignore them, not to go looking for them and yell at them. Among other things, they tended not to like being caught, and telling on them made you a wonderful target for any resentment they had over being caught.
Andrea seemed not to be concerned with that though, and explaining it never worked, so Persi followed. No need to upset her too.
...Or perhaps there would be a distraction. Persi did hear Andrea's stomach--and briefly wondered if it was his, due to the volume--but tried not to look too amused. "Sure, a snack sounds good." Actually, once he thought about it, he was fairly hungry.

Persi had never heard of hard light before. The phrase seemed a little bit stupid, among other things. He wasn't going to say that though; he couldn't tell whether Brute was implying that he was too stupid to know of it, or that he ought to know the empty room was for it somehow.
He followed Brute over, and hovered a few feet away to watch him do... whatever he was doing. It didn't make much sense to Persi, but he didn't really care.
...Okay, rooms were not supposed to do that. Even Hogwarts--no, actually, Persi supposed the Room of Requirement did that, it just didn't do that while anyone could see. That... was kind of cool, but not at all reassuring. There were way too many ways Persi could see this going drastically wrong. Granted, gyms weren't high on that list, but then he didn't trust it to stay a gym, and even if it did, gyms weren't exactly good. He frowned at it, and looked for anything that might be hiding ambushes that could accidentally hit Persi again.
Aiden didn't seem particularly bothered... so either he didn't know Brute very well, or he did know what was going to happen. Either way, Persi wasn't reassured.
Nor did the orders for stretches reassure him at all. He frowned at Brute and stayed where he was. "If it's that important, how come we didn't do it last time?"

People had two general responses to being annoyed, eventually. Either they got angry and attacked, or they gave up and tried to avoid whatever annoyed them. Well, or they cried, but the brat wasn't a girl, and seemed to be much more angry than anything else, so that wasn't likely. Persi wasn't too worried about being attacked--among other things, the kid had turned into a kid by falling, Persi was pretty sure he could make that happen again. And as for avoiding... well, that was Persi's goal, after all. And he wasn't hard to avoid, really, so all he had to do was give the brat a reason to avoid him.
So Persi reached up to flick the brat in the forehead. "Shoo."

Well, that was predictable. "Going out the window would defeat the point." Not that Persi wanted Brute to know what the point was, of course. That would either make it harder to annoy him, or get Persi into more trouble than he could necessarily deal with.
Being dragged around was predictable, and really not all that annoying anymore. Persi let him. "It's not going to be easy anyway, so why should I bother with that?" Misery was the point of gym. Even if it could have been, he probably wouldn't have; making Brute miserable too was just too satisfying.
The legendary Danger Room... was not impressive. Persi saw no reason to pretend that it was. "Sorry, I fail to see the danger." He also saw no reason to put any effort into pretending he was actually sorry.

What... that... no. Just, no. Persi could not deal with that. Lesbian guys were well beyond what Persi's brain could handle anyway; lesbian guys that were also women were just not an option. "That... what... that's not possible, that makes no sense."
At least being called a jerk was something Persi could understand. Or was familiar enough with not to be confused by, even if he didn't really understand it, exactly. "They're not... well, a few are jerks, they're people, but they're mostly not jerks. They've never bullied me about being a mutant." Not that they were happy about it, of course, but they hadn't known. And anyway, they didn't deal with mutants in such a petty way as bullying.
"Okay." Not that Persi knew where the offices were, but they couldn't be that hard to find, and he had no intention of going to them before he had to anyway. What sane student ever willingly went to a school office?

"What which...?" There was more than one what? Persi had only noticed one. Unless Mirror meant his namecalling the church, which was annoying, but Persi had heard enough of to not be surprised by. Either way, he was still bewildered. "Aren't lesbians girls?" Or was Mirror actually one of those really manly girls? Persi supposed it was possible; he was pretty sure Gawain was a guy's name, but he was also pretty sure Gawain was an ancient name, so whoever named their kid that was thinking something odd either way.
And church was simpler. Annoying, but still simpler. Persi eyed Gawain's overdone apology and shrugged. "Basically everyone hates u... uh, them. Anyway. I'm used to it." He was also getting used to staring off to the side of whoever he was talking to. At the empty desk that was supposedly his, in this case. "And it wasn't bad or anything. I just wasn't supposed to be there."

Okay, them having guns was not entirely surprising, considering what Mirror had just said. The arrows... made less sense, but considering the name Gawain, Persi probably should have expected them anyway. Or, well, something other than guns, anyway. Swords were probably more illegal than arrows, or something.
Persi frowned. Arguing with Mirror still didn't seem like a good idea, but he didn't like being called a fanatic. Religious, sure, but not fanatic. That meant crazy, and generally evil. Even if Mirror's description was right, mostly. Telling him that 'think' ought to be 'know' seemed like an even worse idea. "...I guess."
And then Persi's brain stopped working. Or, more specifically, it was hit by incomprehensible objects, went into overdrive, and still came up with nothing. Persi was pretty sure that 'lesbian' was not something that could have 'half' attached to it, not relating to one person. Also, that lesbians were girls. "...What?"
Oh, things that Persi could comprehend again. And he was still too bewildered by "half lesbian" to start thinking about the comment and end up feeling weird. "They didn't find me, it's my church."

Persi did think his drawing was cool. It was dragons, how could it not be? Tiny dragons, sure, smaller than the leaves some of them were peeking out from behind, but still. How could a tree full of dragons not be cool? That did not, however, mean that Persi expected the tree to comment on it.
He jumped, turned too quickly, and had to twist more to get his balance back. He wasn't that close to falling, but he still definitely had to catch himself.
...Oh. It wasn't the tree that had commented. It was... a cat girl. Well, cat woman. A bit more cat than most seemed to be. Either way.
Persi wasn't sure which would have been weirder, really; the tree talking or the cat girl existing. He probably shouldn't be surprised by either anymore; he'd already been kidnapped by a bush and met a winged boy, so why not? That didn't stop him from staring at the woman's ears until he caught himself and made himself look back at her face. "Um, thanks. I--"
An arrow landed in the tree. It was quite recognizable, even if Persi didn't see the actual arrow part of it. He jumped again, a bit more since he was already in a more awkward position than normal, and had to grab a branch to catch himself. Staring at the woman's ears was no longer a problem. "...Arrow?"

...Why could he not just leave? Granted, Persi preferred that Mirror be farther away; questions from across the room were probably preferable to glaring from two feet away. Assuming Mirror didn't manage to think of another question like that, but Persi couldn't think what other questions would be like that. So questions were probably better. Persi would still really prefer that Mirror left.
That wasn't happening, apparently, so Persi drifted a few more steps into the room--it still didn't seem like his--before hovering.
...Why was Mirror talking about a girl who threw up bugs? Because if that was an attempt to convince Persi the Mansion was a normal place full of normal people, there had to be a better way to start than that.
Oh. That... was more related, anyway, even if it didn't particularly make any more sense. "Um... they would not ever work with a mutant. They have guns." Why anyone would when they were trying to cleanse the world of mutants was beyond Persi's comprehension. "I guess... I don't know what you need to know. Most of the time when they find mutants they just protest, or boycott them or something." Persi knew exactly how those went. Normally, and when they went as wrong as they possibly could. "There are too many mutants to kill, so mostly it's just when a mutant is close to the church or really offends them that..." telling Mirror that mutants were a sin seemed like a bad idea, "that they're more active."

Apparently Persi had stumbled into something that the brat didn't want to talk about. The smirk stayed. "Of course not. But, you know... either you are a little kid, or you really want to be a little kid. Either way's not a good start to argue that you're grown up, you know." Persi shrugged. "I don't care which it is. You're still a brat either way."
A brat who was, once again, preventing Persi from drawing. That seemed to be what the brat did. Well... him, and everyone else in the Mansion. That might explain a lot about the brat, actually. Anyway, Persi didn't appreciate it. "Now, shoo."

Okay, so Mirror no longer looked like he was going to hit Persi. Or... whatever mirror-people did. Probably stab, going by the name. Or challenge to some sort of honor duel, and then stab. Anyway, Persi still wasn't totally sure that was an improvement, considering what Mirror was saying. Anger was predictable, he could deal with being hit and yelled at pretty well. It was annoying, but not really a problem. But instead now Mirror was being all emotional and... and whatever. Like he was trying to give a movie everything-is-happily-ever-after-we're-all-friends speech, but was really bad at it. "I haven't done anything," was muttered, probably loud enough for Mirror to hear.
And it was true; Persi hadn't done anything. Except draw, go to school, stick pencils in the ceiling, get a few detentions when he slept through class, and sometimes pretend he was sick so he could sleep in instead of going to church.
...It was probably that last one that was the problem. Persi felt kind of guilty about it. And kind of angry, because that was a really stupid, tiny thing to damn him for. And then guilty again, because it wasn't God's fault that Persi was bad.
Leaving emotional stuff for the guidance counselor sounded good. Persi wouldn't ever go, but then, that was why it sounded good.
...Until Mirror said that. Sure, technically it was easy; Persi knew that answer years ago. Or, well, every part of it that didn't involve himself; if he'd bothered guessing his own actions, he could've figured it out. So he'd known. It still took a minute of staring at anywhere that wasn't Mirror to make himself say it. "...If they knew where I was they'd've shot me before I got here. They don't know this place exists." If they did, they'd have either burned it down, or died trying already. "I don't think they'll find me." He was certainly doing everything he could to make sure they didn't.

Persi shrugged at Aiden's answer. "Yeah, basically." Or, until Brute figured it out, anyway, but Aiden had to know that would happen, so he probably didn't actually mean forever. Besides, if Persi's actual goal was to stay in his room, he wouldn't have bothered with changing.
It took a few minutes, but eventually Brute did notice. Persi grinned, considered, and pushed himself off of the door.
He opened it wide enough to look through, almost wide enough to walk through, considered Brute for a moment, and grinned at him. "No." And with that announced, tried to close the door.
