The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Knowing of the imminence of a breakout made Amp fidgety. No sedatives left in her system gave her energy. Combining the two? It was downright impossible for her to sit still. She did her best to keep calm enough to not draw attention to herself, but it seemed like everywhere she turned, someone wanted to get in her face, either guard or fellow prisoner. She tried to keep her head down. She really did. Still, she found herself involved in several scuffles, two of them with other mutants. In fact, she was in the middle of that second fight, with a water manipulator, when she first caught the sounds of something approaching.
She promptly lost interest in the altercation, and clawed her way out of it, scuttling around a corner on all fours. She hid herself under a set of stairs and waited till her opponent gave up the search. In the meantime, she strained hard to 'hear'.
She didn't realize that the shock collar wasn't working, and that's why her senses were so keen.
Was that a helicopter? No.... it was coming from the ground....
She concentrated on the vibrations running through the ground into her hands.
Vehicles. More than one. And heavy....
She didn't have to strain to feel the sounds of explosions. Those came from close enough to feel the blasts.
Excitement welled up within her like an overflowing oil well. She scurried out of her hiding place, and around the corner of the building. She held out her arms from her body and threw her head back, practically inhaling the trembles in the air from the various blasts and battles. It was like a drug, a euphoria she had been deprived of for faaaar too long. Oooo.... how she'd missed that feeling, the feel of being alive!
A halfway maniacal giggle left her throat, and she hugged herself, completely caught in the throes of bliss.
Abruptly she froze. A shiver ran up her spine, and a look of astonishment passed over her face. She looked around, then the other way, as if searching for something.
So focus was she on a familiar warmth, coming from somewhere close by, she didn't notice the danger she was in from behind.

If Vibe had learned nothing else over the past months of being on her own, it was the meaning of tolerance. She didn't learn it well, but she was learning. And the ride to the Camps were a major test of her tolerance, especially since she'd ended up in the same transport at Bugzilla, the Incredible Insect Woman. Vibe did her best not to throw up at the site of insects actually coming out of the girl's skin. She couldn't keep her skin from crawling though, just because of the sheer number of them.
When they arrived, and the girl literally flew out of the transport, Vibe held her breath and did her best to meld in with the walls, while the insect army swarmed after.
>That is SO wrong.....< She shuddered, and followed the others out. She shouldered a backpack on as she went. She was unarmed, mainly because she didn't plan on fighting anyone or anything until she found her sister. The backpack held several orange juices and energy bars, in case Amp was in really bad shape. And once Vibe found her sister, they wouldn't need weapons.
She paused for a moment, taking in the scenery. This was her first glimpse of the hole her sister was imprisoned in. For the briefest seconds, Vibe felt as small as one of those dragonflies, staring up at a bear.
Sounds of explosions reached her from various directions, along with the trembling vibrations sent through the air. With them her fear melted into anger.
How dare the humans take her sister away from her, and all of these prisoners away from their families! All because they were different? Because they weren't weak, and normal, like the humans?
She hurried after the others toward the hole in the wall, spreading her senses to keep clear of any approaching objects. She wasn't even inside when a familiar shudder went up her spine. It was like walking down a dark corridor, with a light shining at the end of the tunnel. Except going toward this light was a good thing.
Vibe latched onto the sensation and followed it, the connection to her twin acting like a towline.

Amp sat in the corner of the dark room, curled in as small of a ball as she could manage. She felt the vibrations and trembles that represented the presence of others. She couldn't see much in the dark, but her green eyes seemed to glow with a bit of their original brightness. She couldn't hear anything, but she watched every move like a cat. Or a snake.

Vibe resembled a sunken bouy, floating with the water as everyone dived in. A glaring, copper-headed, arms-and-legs-crossed bouy. Finally she'd had enough.
Despite the set of sharp teeth and claws currently lounging at the pool's edge, Vibe pulled herself mostly out of the water, planting herself on the step in the shallow end. She pouted childishly away from everyone. Her eyes blinked rapidly; she hope they would attribute it to the water from the pool in her eyes, not the tears they actually were.
"How can you all act like you like that? That.... swimming... stuff." She ignored Calley's grumbling, until his next statement. "And you. Grumpy. Stop trying to breathe underwater. Unless you really think that killing your brain cells is going to help get Wonderful back."
She turned to glare at the tiger, all threat he possibly posed abruptly lost.
"Like you know anything about brain cells. Why aren't you out there trying to get her back, if you think she's so wonderful? You could actual do something with those claws and teeth. But nooo! You're back here complaining about being a little soaked. Fat lotta good you are, ya big baby!"
Angrily she slapped the water, hard, aiming the gusher in the tiger's direction.
Angry as she was, Vibe honestly didn't hear Katran ask about whether or not she'd had anything to do with Calley's mutation. Currently she was fuming, and resembled a redheaded crocodile in the water. She wasn't picking up on very many verbal or physical cues being given, instead glaring at the orange and black-striped menace at the pool's edge.
For that reason, when another young man walked in, another tremble ran through the room. Had Amp been around, it would be very likely that the pool, and most of the room, would have been reduced to rubble fairly quickly in a copper-haired temper tantrum.
With that a current impossibility, Vibe ducked beneath the water, and sat on the pool floor. The floor continued to rumble slightly, until lack of oxygen forced her to the surface. A few gulps later she repeated the process.
"Ow!" Amp's finger hit a sharp piece of wood in the dirt. She pulled it back quickly and stuck it in her mouth. Glaring, her gaze turned to the girls, and she caught just the last bit of Sara's statement.
"Control? Right. Like they ever had control," she growled, not realizing she was repeating the feline-featured girl.
"So...nothing like this will ever happen again once we get out, right?"
Amp narrowed her eyes at the question. "I hope they try it again. I'd enjoy reminding them why its such a bad idea, with my own two handssss-- Ow!!" Her bracelet sent a sharp shock through her arm, as her statement ended in a hiss that sounded exactly like a Stalker.
She glowered darkly at the cuff on her wrist, and the the others. She could see the burn's on Sara's; Ruby's looked okay. But Amp had found out that a scar was still a scar, whether visible or invisible.
"Oh, I like it, Grumpy. I like it a lot. How about you come out of there, so I can show my appreciation?"
"Yeah. I think not."
The Talking Tiger was a neat trick, but considering the source, Vibe found herself underwhelmed, at least with the talking part of it. Judging from the bedraggled expression, the feeling was mutual.
"Where is your sister, Grumpy? Did she get hauled off?"
Vibe's stiffened in the water. For about two whole seconds, she resembled a surprised child, completely lost and vulnerable.
She lowered herself in the water, until only her eyes showed, narrowed to glowing green slits. The concrete sides of the pool vibrated slightly, like a small tremor. Calley had obviously hit a sore spot.
Nice mutation..."
"Thanks. Though it's surprisingly useless. Be better if I could turn into a housecat, honestly. Much better camouflaged for a city. Or laser beam eyes. A tiger with laser beam eyes would be kinda kick-butt."
"Invisibility would be better," the angry redhead rose out of the water enough to growl out, before sinking back to eye level again.
Calley's stunned entrance sent Vibe into a laughing fit. Just the look on his face had her flailing around, trying not to drown as she fell out laughing. She clung to the side of the pool, crying in mirth.
When a tiger popped out of the water, instead of a scrawny kid....
"Whoa...."
It was Vibe's turn to be stunned. If she ever knew what his mutation was, she'd forgotten about it, because a cat that size was the last thing she expected to see.
Ooohh.... and he didn't look happy either....
For once Vibe had the grace to look uneasy. She attempted to put on a aloof air and pushed herself lazily away.
"Why the look Tigger? I thought tigers liked the water?"
They did, didn't they? She was pretty sure she'd seen that on Animal Planet, or something. Yeah, tigers liked water. So surely he wasn't too irritated.

Vibe's underwater grin grew several points in size and devilishness. So.... Calley didn't like water much, eh?
>Perfect.<
"You look like a dehydrated prune lady in a puddle, Grumpy."
Vibe lowered herself in the water so only the top half of her head, from the nose up, showed. The ripples of her entry and presence hid most of her facial expression. But her eyes, reflected a dangerous calmness and ease.
"And you, Katran, aren't wearing a bathing suit."
A sideways glance this way, another that way and.....
"But you are, Calley. So come join me. I insist!"
In a smooth motion she snapped one arm out and made a grab for the foot he was so obligingly testing the water with.

"Nu-uh. That's not how it works. I asked you first. Indirectly. What's your name, Miss? Umm, if I may ask."
Ah... so that's how it is... is it?"
Vibe quirked an eyebrow. Something about that lady just.... didn't sit well with the Sonic. She was too smooth. Too slick. Like oil.
Or a snake.
"Katran.... Your turn..."
"Ugh..." Vibe rolled her eyes and hauled herself up onto the edge of the pool. She walked by Calley, wringing her hair. As she passed, she intentionally flung the excess water in the boy's direction.
These word games could go on forever, and she, for one, wasn't interested. She stopped and turned, and took a running leap into the water, aiming to make the biggest splash her dainty body could handle. A self-satisfied smirk graced her lips beneath the churned waters.

Amp remained silent to all of the girls questions and statements. She didn't ignore them though, not exactly. She purposely didn't look at them, thus avoiding having to read lips. But their words still left a tremble in the air around them, a tremble she could feel. Extremely muted, they were, but there still the same. Unconsciously she shivered, and moved slightly closer.
Eyes still skyward, she began to hum, very quietly, a very simple melody, silent to her ears, but comforting to her body. One finger began to doodle in the dirt.
It was the first time in a long time she wasn't constantly on guard.

It took a few moments, but it seemed that Sara picked up the new beat, and altered hers to match. The corner of Amp mouth twitched. The trills were lost on her, but she kept up with the base. Glancing sideways every now and then, noting similar looks sent her way; no doubt this was one of the strangest jam sessions ever started.
Amid the beat, Amp picked up the vibrations of someone approaching. She tensed at first, reflexively at the light footfalls.
Something hit the ground next to her, and she flinched away, loosing the beat. Looking up, she saw little Ruby, and caught the last few words of her sentence. ".... oaty and Honey goodness."
<"What??"> her mind asked silently. She blinked rapidly, taking in the object. A granola bar?
Her lips twitched again. "Thanks, Squirt." Her stomach growled audibly, and she flinched again.
<"Stupid body.... useless noises...."> Her face and the tips of her ears turned pink, and she refused to look at either girl as she unwrapped the little bar. She paused, for a very, very long moment, becoming a petite statue for a time.
Finally she broke the bar in three pieces. She still refused to look as she hurriedly pushed two pieces in the girls' directions.
"You're still flat," she mumbled to Sara, turning her gaze upwards again, focusing with unnecessary intentness at the stars overhhead as she munched.

(OOC: The more the merrier. And apologies for the late reply.)
"Vibe, I really don't care at all. At least, not for your sake. But I've come to realize when something is troubling another, it tends to affect more people than just that one. I just want to make sure your problem won't affect me..."
Vibe watched the woman, warily now. That sounded like something she or Amp would have said. Being a manipulator herself, the redhead didn't trust this woman's tone of voice.
"So what's the problem?"
Vibe narrowed her eyes. But before she could get out a suitably sarcastic reply, someone else approached the pool area.
"What is this? Grand Cenral Station?" she muttered, none too quietly.
"Urp." Now there was an eloquent introduction. "Sorry. Didn't notice anyone else was here. Sorry. Hello, Grumpy. Who's your friend?"
"I'm not Grumpy," Vibe growled, her frown deepening. She had no idea why that scrawny little kid kept calling her that, but she didn't like it. Or him for that matter.
She turned her glare on the woman when her phone rang, louder to Vibe's enhanced hearing.
"Don't think we've met yet... your name?"
"Don't encourage him," Vibe grumbled. "Then he'll never leave...."
She wasn't happy earlier anyway. Eris's entrance didn't help improve her mood, but Vibe figured if she got too annoying or prying, she would return to ignoring the dark-haired lady. But Calley? Vibe swore the kid lived for annoying anyone he could for as long as he could. Ignoring didn't work on him.

Amp didn't recognize whatever instrument Sara's pot-and-bands were supposed to be imitating. She couldn't hear the melody either. Her ears couldn't pick up melodies or pitch. What they did pick up was every time a band hit the pot. So many songs had the same basic beat, it was often difficult for Amp to distinguish between them without her sister.
But the beats on the pot seemed to be matching the ones her feet tapped out.
Her foot paused. Then she began tapping out a different beat, this one deliberately slower, and with a different pattern.

Sara's abrupt retrieval and retreat took Amp by surprise, and her face showed it.
“Fine, get your own toy then.”
Amp pouted and crossed her arms. "Fine then," she snipped back and looked away. But her attention and curiosity had been successfully captured. The buzz still reached her through the air. The 'music' was a sad excuse for such. But still.....
Her foot began tapping out a beat. Eventually her gaze returned to Sara, sideways.
