The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Skydancer was enjoying her new blond wig. Sure, here skin was still that odd shade of purple but between the wig, the large sun hat and the long jacket she wore, she could almost forget that fact. Certainly she wasn't getting half as many stares as she normally did and, well, that was wonderful. It wasn't that she was ashamed of being a mutant; far from it in fact. It was just that she didn't always want to be the center of attention when the type of attention given wasn't always posative. Who was she kidding, the attention she got walking around as a purple mutant was amost always negative.
It was spring and Skydancer had been enjoying a beautiful sunny day alone in Central Park. Enjoying herself so much, in fact, that day had faded into evening and evening had faded into night and suddenly she found herself alone in the dark. She wasn't especially worried about anyone attacking her in the middle of the night; she could take care of herself well enough. She was a little worried about the fact that she really couldn't see particularly well at night and she didn't exactly have a flashlight. To make matters even worse, the light of the moon was obscured by all the tree branches.
Going slowly and carefully, Skydancer began to make her way down the path towards the exit of the park. Frustrated with her lack of sight, she looked above her, in hopes of being able to scale a large tree and maybe have more light navigating from treetop instead of on the ground. Just as she thought she found an appropriate hold, she collided with something warm and soft.
"Ouch." After a valliant and successful strugle to remain on her feet and not fall to the ground, she looked down to see what appeared, in the dim light, to be a young girl.

Actually, I think it could be rather entertaining to have Sky save Rook from an evil watery lake or something lol. I was originally thinking of Sky saving someone from a fight, but I think water might be a good first step in making her a little more of a proactive individual when it comes to using her powers for good.

I would agree with that. Maybe something to the effect of people playing different roles within the same dream world? That way many of the characters of the dream would actually be the fellow PCs.

I'm not really too familair with the Stepford Wives, but the more I read about the plotting in this thread the more awesome it sounds. I might just want to be a part of this.

If the streets weren't the worse thing that could happen to a mutant then Skydancer didn't want to consider what that worse thing might be. Her mind involuntarily turned to images of imprisonment and death. She recalled her aunt telling her about the camps, though she had been fortunate enough to avoid them herself. That would have definately been worse and she had to supress a shudder in thinking about the possibilties.
"I guess in a way the streets help me grow," Skydancer stated contemplatively. She had always been mature for her age and dedicated in the way the most serious athletes had to be, but there were many things she had learend in the past year, not all of them pleasant. "Though I wouldn't wish them on anyone." Understatement of the century.
Skydancer accepted the cream and started rubbing it into the skin of her arm. It was kind of cold and uncomfortable feeling, but what was a little discomfort when it came to the possibility of having a human mask? As the layer of makeup dried, it became clear that the purple was going to show through, though it was less prominent than it had been before the foundation was added. She smiled in tentative optimism.

Skydancer was a little skeptical at the suggestion Kyle made to have a little fun on the way back, assuming (logically to her mind) that he meant they were going to get in another fight. When he started running she was forced to change her mind and when he suggested they engage in an obstical course, well, she grinned in anticipation. Obstical course was right down her alley.
While running had never been Skydancer's activity of choice, years of training had increased her stamina and speed substancially. While she wasn't likely to win a long distance race, she knew her levels of physical fitness were well above those of the average person. Thus, while Kyle was certainly fast, she was able to keep up. When he jumped up to the fire escape ladder, that's where the real fun was set to start.
"Obstical course I can do," Skydancer agreed in anticipation. A purple tube burst from her chest and wrapped around the fire escape ladder, pulling her to the top of the building. She took a quick look around to establish a prospective course before nodding at Kyle, satisfied. "Anywhere you can go I can follow," she stated with confidence. Confidence in her own abilities had never been one of her shortcomings.

If its easier we can certainly do a thread just a little ways in the past just before Sky became Chibi. Currently she resides in The Mansion. Where does Rook stay?
I know what I'm intending to accomplish in Sky's near future. She's been the victim a few times since coming to MRO. I'm hoping to get the opportunity soon for her to be the one saving someone for a change, whether PC or NPC. Maybe something along those lines? Or if not, that's fine too I'm up for just about anything.
If you're still looking for a roleplay partner, I'm looking for a new thread or two as well. Right now Sky is Chibi, but I'm up for a session either pre-Chibi or current day while she still is Chibi.
Previous experience had taught Skydancer just how little she liked guns. They were dangerous and it was the sort of danger she coudln't easily defend against. As someone who prided herself on being proactive and competent in anything she attempted in life, it bothered her to be placed in a situation where she was effectively helpless. Guns were like cheating and she didn't like cheaters, especially cheaters that could kill her.
"I don't have any M." Skydancer lifted her hands up to show she was unarmed and unresisting. Why any human would assume that she, obviously a mutant, would have M she had no idea. She was familiar with the drug after an encounter with a cult of human M addicts. They had, in fact, kidnapped her and attempted to sacrifice her along with two other mutants. How she and the other mutants played into their twisted delusions she hadn't managed to determined, nor did she particularly care. All that mattered was that she had survived the situation with the help of a pair of other mutants.
"Y-you know where the M is and you're going to bring me there!" The man waved the gun in Skydancer's direction threateningly and his tone of voice demanded that she know the answer to his question. Of course it was ridiculous to assume that just because he wanted something and was dangerous that somehow his intimidation factor would magically change the reality of the situation, but men like him rarely adhered to concepts like reason and common sense.
"Don't you know that's not the way to ask a Lady on a date?"
The man turned, eyes darting in the direction of the newcomer back to Skydancer and back to the direction of the newcomer. The man jumped back with surprising dexterity as the baseball bat came flying in his direction, avoiding damage by little more than a hair. He wavered in indecision, unsure who to point the gun at, his obviously mutant target or the would be masked hero.
Guns, Skydancer decided, should be banned. She wasn't any stranger to situations where injury was a possibility; being a gymnast had plenty of risks, but she didn't like the fact that she had no defense against bullets. At all. It was different choosing one's own risks as compared to being forcibly placed in the middle of a situation where the risk just sort of found you. If only she were able to actually form some sort of defense it might have been better, but as it was fleeing seemed like the only real option.
"You keep shooting and I won't drop you." The stress could be clearly heard in Skydancer's voice. "And if we survive this, you owe me that coffee." Seemed fair all things considered. Actually, he probably owed her a lot more than coffee if they survived and that if was definitely in question at that moment.
Skydancer heard the motorcycle down below but didn't have time to glance down at it. She could only hope that Thomas was able to keep the rider down there and prevent the two of them from getting shot as she made sure the scaled up the building and out of range of whoever was on the motorcycle. Her lower tube unraveled from from its initial anchor point and moved to an anchor point above them. Only a few more swings and they would make it to the top of the larger building.

It was becoming a depressingly common occurance for Skydancer to be involved in potentially life or death situations. Between almost being sacrificed to an M addicted human cult to more than one incidence of dealing with bigoted humans thugs and now somehow being dragged into someone's else's crimes, it was becoming something of a lifestyle for her.
Skydancer didn't much care what the man chasing them was saying, she just wanted him not be be chasing and/or trying to kill them. She didn't need to be told twice, however, to get the two of them to safety when Thomas gave his permission. A moment later, three tubes burst from her flesh, two at the base of her neck and one from her side. The adrenaline from the situation was such that she barely even felt the sharp pain of the tubes puncturing her skin.
"Hold on tight and keep that gun firing to keep those guys off us," Skydancer warned. In truth, the holding on tight part wasn't really necessary. The tube from her side wrapped itself tightly around Thomas, securing him easily in its grip. She was careful not to tighten to much and risk suffocating him. Simultaneously, one of the tubes at the base of her neck reached up and wrapped itself around the bar. A couple of large swings later and the second tube on the other side of her neck attached itself to the higher balcony of the building across from them. It was possible to simply lift herself on her tube because the tube itself had more than enough strength, but she found swinging to be more effective and less of a strain on the rest of her body.

"Well, I'm glad someone knows this area. I'm not quite sure how I managed to get myself so horrible turned around." Skydancer laughed at her own incopatence. Now that the danger was passed, she felt significantly more relaxed and if she couldn't laugh at herself then who could she laugh at? The things she took seriously she took very seriously, but everything else was open for a little light heartedness.
"I would love an escort, though I'm not sure how much more excitment I can handle," Skydancer answered with a smile. "One ambush by a gang of idiots is quite anough for one night, thanks very much." Tolerance was something she usually prided herself on, but how tolerant should one be towards the intolerance of others? Perhaps it was time she start to think about where she actually stood, all things considered. Perhaps part of the reason for her expadition to Sanctuary should be to find what alternatives existed and instead of avoiding choosing a side, actually proactively choose one. Perhaps she was more a part of the mutant conflict than she cared to initially admit.
"I think I may need to learn to be a little more proactive about using my powers proactively," Skydancer stated as she followed Kyle. "If I'm going to be forced to deal with others like our little friends back there." To be forced to live in a world where such intolerance existed and where one was forced to resort to violence made her angry.
