The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Akshay had grinned a little as he thought about the idea of Emerald turning into a full blown wolf. He had only ever seen such things in movies, TV shows, and in comics. It was that ultimate fear of mankind, the whole slipping away from the human conscious ness and accepting the body of a beast. If there was anything that mankind feared more, it was slipping back into that primordial sense of self. A cultured and civilized man never wanted to accept the beast in him. But there were those that knew how to tap into it.
At least that was what he thought. He read enough comics and books about folklore to come up with his own mythos concerning werewolves of legend and such. It was just one of those things that he did in his free time. Besides, a lot of that research helped him to write the comic that Emerald reminded him so much of.
But even through his praise, he watched as her cheeks flushed into a bright red and she nervously tucked hair behind her ear. It was cute how easily flustered she became. Part of him began to wonder, though, if maybe she was embarrassed about her mutation?
>> "It's not that cool, I've been like this since I was little and I've been able to shift since I was a pup. It's no big deal really."
He smirked. Since she was a pup? That really was cute. Just the idea that she had the power to do something so massively cool earned her big points in his book. Akshay truly loved mutants, all kinds. From the lamest powers, like his, the most awesome, like hers. He respected her a lot for having a power that primal and being able to tame it. After all, she was not running around as a wolf the whole time. She seemed to enjoy at least some aspects of being human. If she didn’t then she would have never gone on a human date, would she?
He was more impressed with her by the minute to the point where it was almost like having sparkles in his eyes. She was beautiful, strong, and she had a kick ass ability. It was obvious that she embodied the character he thought he had created from the ether of the universe. Maybe, somehow, he was just picking up on her brainwaves or something.
It was possible. Especially in New York!
He smirked and shook his head.
“Nah, you have a power I have to respect,” he said with a nod. “You walk that balance that no one likes to admit is even there. Truly that is something inspiring,” he said as he watched her eyes for a second. He blinked before he smiled a little shyly and nodded to the menu. “I think I’m going to have the ribeye. You?”

@ Celeste: I'm up for an RP with Celeste. It sounds like it would be fun, especially since his words wouldn't last long enough for her to run extensive tests. But I'm down if you are. The comic classes sound fun too! I could probably run a free one at the comic shop for neighborhood kids and adults who want to learn.
@wombat: That sounds positively FUN! I'm down for that too!

It was pure BRO-TIME! Akshay smirked as he watched all the older kids ruffle up Chase’s hair and peer at his purchases. The wordsmith knew that there they were not jealous by the amount of time Chase got with him. After all they were older, they already had their tastes and their likes, they didn’t need him coming around and shaking up their worlds by introducing them to things that they were simply not ready for. Though Akshay saw their purchases and knew that they desperately needed his help, he never said anything.
Chase was different though. He was young and inexperienced in the field of comics. Therefore he was a blank slate that Akshay could mold and refurbish. It was something that Akshay excelled in doing.
He stood back and merely smirked at the antics of the other boys and waited as Chase began to fish around in his pocket for the money to pay for the books. When the money was finally brought out, the crumpled ten-dollar bill was placed on his counter and slid over.
“Thank you, young master Chase,” he grinned as he took the money, punched keys into his register and waited for the receipt to finish printing.
>> "When I was younger…Authors would sometimes come to my school to talk about their books and then sell them to us. Once a year, usually in the spring... Do comic book authors do that?"
Akshay tilted his head as he ripped off the receipt and handed it back to Chase. Huh, that was an extremely interesting idea. He didn’t know why he had never thought of it before. To be honest it seemed like the perfect thing, especially since he was trying to get his comic book out to a wider audience. And Chase, being with those boys, obviously came from the same school. So that meant that there was already an audience of comic lovers that were just waiting to hear about his book.
Heh, maybe I should make the kid my agent, he mentally chuckled.
He nodded in an impressed manner.
“You know, I never thought of that, Chase.” he said as he slid the books back over to the boy. “Maybe I should. Which school you all go to anyways?’ he asked curiously. “Maybe I can talk to a staff member about a free comic day or something.”

*tosses his characters onto the table!* Deal!
LoL seriously, I'm down for RPing with ya! All my characters are game but I'm kind of lacking in ideas.
For Saph: Well, we do have plans for him and Jorge so no problem there. Akshay is a possibility but I dunno how they would meet. Akshay loves comics so it would be funny for him to meet a vigilante, haha.
For Roach: I really do think that an meeting between him and Agnes would be hilarious. Or maybe an epic dance-off between Roach and Akshay?
Anyways those are just some little ideas. If you have anything else in mind, I'm totally down for it! Just let me know.

Akshay strolled through the convention dressed as the Emerald Archer. Friends sometimes said his costumes were a bit much. He didn’t think so. A custom-made costume that cost him $200? It was enthusiasm!
He blinked as a man dressed as Moon Princess strolled by. “Now…THAT’S a little bit too far.”

The amount of smiles that Chase gave him was simply awesome. He was glad that he could bring the boy that kind of joy. It was a moment like that that made the countless hours of dealing with crazed fans, with bullies, and with boredom that made his job worthwhile. Just know that he had done something that could be perceived as so nice to Chase just made the wordsmith happy to have helped him at all.
Besides, who knows, maybe the kid would get so into the comics that not only would his comic shop get the boy’s exclusive patronage, but maybe he could even get a friend out of the deal. Akshay liked to make friends out of his customers.
Once back at the counter he plucked up his own comic book and grabbed his felt-tip pen from his drawer. Quickly he removed the cap before he placed the tip against the cover and signed it simply: “Chase, Keep on readin’! Your pal, Akshay Malik Not that the note was exclusively telling Chase to keep reading/buying his own comic. On the contrary. Akshay wanted Chase to keep reading comic books in general. They were good for a boy or girl’s soul.
Once it was signed, Akshay set it aside and grabbed a few bag and boards from his supply. He hummed to himself as he began to carefully pick up the comics and slip them into their protective covers.
>> "What's boarding mean?"
“Huh?” he blinked as he turned to Chase. “Oh! Just this. See? If you keep the comic in these slips, it’ll protect them from getting bent anything spilled on them. It just helps to preserve them so you can read them at your ripe of age of 156 before you sell them for millions of dollars,” he chuckled.
He then continued to bag and board the other comics before the rest of Chase’s cohorts began to show up.
>> "Hey, little man, Looks like you struck gold."
>> "Akshay helped me,"
He grinned as he nodded to the rest of the boys. “That I did. My pal here has quite a good taste in comics. Unlike some of you heathens. Sammy, I know you have that copy of Laffin’ Gas there. ” he joked. Sammy turned beet red but smirked and laughed along with the joke. Akshay joking was all in good humor. Once he was done bagging, boarding, and ringing up, he smirked as he nodded to Chase. “$10, please.”

Stunned silence. Akshay had to grin at that. He really was not expecting anything less from the boy. After all, he was being offered a FREE comic book! Akshay had worked nearly every “Free Comic Day” since he first started working for this comic shop so he knew exactly how much of a frenzy fans could get worked up in. Kids, teenagers, adults, they go wild for free comics! So it was of little wonder that the boy here was excited by the prospect for a free book.
>> "Really? A-are you sure?"
“Yeah!” he beamed happily. After all, it was his comic and up to his discretion who he wanted to give it to. If he wanted to dip out of his own pocket to give one away, then why not?
>> "Th-that'd be really amazing…Thank you..."
He smirked and nodded. Chase seemed to truly be grateful. That warmed Akshay’s heart a little bit. He dealt with a lot of comic fans but not many of them really showed the mutual respect for him that many of them should have. He was just another clerk for them to order around, that was all. But Chase seemed different. He was just starting out, he had a lot to learn about comics, but maybe it was his pureness in the matter that garnered him Akshay’s respect.
He hoped the boy managed to retain. The world loved to find nice, pure people and dirty them up a bit. He would never wish that for Chase.
>> “Are you sure?"
A blink and he had to chuckle a bit. He nodded with a happy smile on his face.
“Yes, Chase. I’m sure. Stop trying to talk yourself out of a good deal,” he winked and waved him over. “Come on over to my counter. I’ll sign your comic and I’ll start bagging and boarding all of them. Sound good?” He said as he led him away to his counter.

It was a first. Akshay rarely started the conversation simply because he always found himself a little tongue-tied. Sure he could be charming at a first encounter and that tended to get him a date more often than not, but the problem was that once they were on the date, he had a hard time keeping up that façade of confidence. It really was a difficult thing to upkeep so his dates usually ended with awkward silence for him saying the wrong thing simply to having some type of voice talking.
Thankfully he didn’t really feel as blank minded around Emerald. He only hoped that such a state of mind would continue.
For half a second, he did not like the fact that he brought up the motorcycle. After all, is past experience seemed to prove that most of his dates were either too terrified about the bike or they only wanted to talk about the bike. But there was a glint in Emerald’s eye that seemed to hint that she did not mind the topic at all…
>> “Oh! It was awesome! You have a really great machine there, if you want I could maybe work on it some time, I used to race motorcycles a few years ago so I know a bit about them,”
“Really?” he said with an impressed tone. “That’s awesome. Sure! I wouldn’t mind check out the ducati. It is a fine piece of machinery but I’m always open to it being tuned up a bit more. There is only so much that I can do.”
Which was true. Unfortunately, though Akshay loved his ducati, his knowledge of really maintaining it was limited. He knew enough to keep the bike running and to know when something was wrong but he lacked the finer finesse necessary to truly turn his bike into the beast it deserved to be. But judging by Emerald and her interest in it, he believed that she had the knack to do so.
Another lull in the talking came and they turned to their menus. Good! That was an excellent time to regain his thoughts for more possible conversations. He began to skim the menu, thinking maybe of a the Top Sirloin…or the Ribeye! The Ribeye was always so delicious.
It was as he was thinking this over that he heard Emerald amusing whine…
>> “No one should have to pick between all this meat, It all sounds too good…Sorry about that, I always try to pick my food before anything else because otherwise we would be here all night. Gotta eat a lot of food because of the whole, shifting into huge wolf thing. “
He grinned. He loved hearing about people and their mutations! Though he rarely ever spoke about his own powers (since to him they were not so impressive) he loved to hear from mutants who were proud of their powers. It gave him something to one day shoot for.
“Wow, so…so you don’t just have wolf attributes,” he asked with interest. “You can actually TURN into a wolf? That…is…SO COOL!” he grinned toothily.

>> "These are really cool,"
Akshay grinned and nodded as he watched the boy look over all the comics that he had handed him. The boy’s eyes had lit up with amusement and interest as he described each one (except Hero People interestingly enough) and Akshay knew that he was hooked. He was glad for that too! Every child should get to know comic books! They should be a natural part of every child’s life with absolutely no excuses! They were an escape, a chance to get away from the pressures that modern society was pushing onto kids these days.
Yes, it was safe to say that Akshay was an advocate for comics. He really hoped that he didn’t come off as too obsessive to othes.
Shaking off his muse, though, Akshay turned his attentions back to Chase and watched as the boy looked at the covers of each comic. He seemed to be in the middle of some deep thoughts, or calculating or something, before he finally looked up again…
>> "I'm not really good at doing math in my head, How many can I buy?"
Ahh, a self-conscious shopper. Akshay had to nod approvingly. Unfortunately he always had the opposite issue with other kids. They wanted every comic, they wanted to just walk out of the store with as many of them under their arms as they could, but that always turned to an issue when they came up the counter to pay. Sadly a five dollar bill doesn’t buy twenty comics anymore.
But, seeing as this kid was nice and definitely needed the life lesson, Akshay was only too happy to offer him a once in a lifetime deal.
“Well, with what you have, you can afford three,” he said with a nod of his head. “But, I’ll tell you what,” he grinned. He then leaned down and pointed to his own comic that Chase was holding. “Since I am the owner, writer, artist and distributor of that fine piece of comic book there,” he stroked his own chin thoughtfully. “I’ll let you HAVE it. One hundred percent free. I’ll even sign it for you. How’s that?”

>> "Oh fine, We will split it, but don't say I didn't warn you,"
Akshay smirked as he walked through the restaurant with Emerald on his arm. He could practically feel how hard that was for her. But Akshay really did not want the entire meal to go to Emerald. After all, this was a date and certain traditions needed to be upheld. He liked the redhead too much to take the easy way out. Besides, seriously, how much could she eat? He had a feeling that part of her was exaggerating. At least with the compromise, though, if he was wrong, he would not have to worry about having to take the bill on all by himself.
He could at least pay for half and still feel like a gentleman.
The rustic atmosphere loomed all around them as they were led to their table. They maneuvered around other tables, other diners, but still the Wordsmith found himself enchanted by the décor around him. The sights, the smells, all of it simply drew him in. And judging by the wagging of Emerald’s tail, she was enjoying herself as well.
Once led to their tiny table for two near the back wall that lined the restaurant, Akshay knew that probably one of the most awkward moments of this date was coming up…the start of the conversation. They already had smack talk, playful jabs at one another, but the most draining was coming up with real conversation to have. Akshay hoped that he would not suddenly completely draw a blank as to what to say.
“Thank you,” he beamed to the waitress as he was shown to the table.
Once Emerald removed herself from him, Akshay slipped next to her, pulled out her chair and waited for her to sit. Only once she did did he help to push her chair in. With that done, he circled around to his own chair and took a seat. Menus were passed out and the hostess beamed her million dollar smile and turned on her heel to head back to her podium. Once she was gone, Akshay turned to glance across the table.
Nope, Emerald was not a mirage. She was still here. Nervously he chuckled as she reached back and rubbed the back of his neck a little awkwardly. He hated coming up with the first thing to say but he did not want to just sit in awkward silence either.
He sighed as he gently patted his backpack at his feet, hoping for some topic to present itself. Another glance up and he shied his gaze away so that she didn’t know he had been watching her pretty eyes. It took another moment or two before he finally said anything.
“Um…s-so…how was the ducati ride?” he beamed. Hey, at least it was a topic…

((OOC: Gina, please excuse me for the length of this post and the number of pictures it has, LOL. I got carried away. And I did photomanip the first two comic covers. The last one is real! It really looks like Jorge! Enjoy!))
The boy looked cute as he stood there, thinking to himself how much money he actually had on him. Akshay did not want to pry. Normally he didn’t care how much money a customer had. If they knew what they could afford then they would get them. But Chase was different. He had never bought or read comics before. Therefore it was going to be difficult for him to not want to spend his money on everything that Akshay threw at him. Especially if the boy developed a real taste for comics.
But those were simply the chances one had to take. At least if Akshay knew a price point and the boy’s interest he would be able stealing all the kid’s money. After all, it would be a real shame to make him penniless.
Besides, he didn’t want his mother to come down on him with the wrath of god.
>> "I have thirteen dollars… And... eighty-three cents."
He smirked and nodded. Definitely reasonable to satisfy the boy’s interest and not leave him in the dog house. The Wordsmith could definitely work with that.
>> "I-If I had to pick only a few things…Cops... adventures and... mutants. Or crime-fighting mutants."
Akshay paused, stroking his chin as he thought about which comics would world well for the boy. He smiled and let out a little laugh when he saw Chase mimic a devastating looking karate chop. Akshay stepped back, feigning fear as he watched the boy to see if he would deliver another move. He nodded in an impressed manner though.
“Haha, alright, alright. I think I know EXACTLY which titles would be good for you. Follow me and be…amazed.” he chuckled as he led Chase away.
Walking up to the normal shelves of comics, Akshay peered at the newer, lesser known titles since they would be the cheapest but so held a majority of the boy’s interest. He snooped around, peering left and right until finally he found one that he was looking for.
“Ah, this one,” he said as he plucked it off the shelve and kneeled down until he found another one. Then he stood and sauntered over to the farthest end of the shelf and picked out the absolutely best one that would work for the boy. When he was done, he smirked as he turned around and kept the covers of the comics pressed against his chest. After all, he wanted to see the boy’s amazement at his amazing powers of picking out comic books. Taking a breath, he grinned as he looked to Chase.
“Ready, little man? Check this out,” He turned over the first comic to Chase and it was a title revealed to be called Surf Shark. “This comic is about a marine biologist who gets into a lab accident and becomes…Surf Shark! The toughest set of teeth in the Blue! He fights crime and battles monsters that threaten his home of Hawaii.”
After he explained he handed over the comic to Chase. Once Chase was done surveying the cover, he turned around the next comic book. This was had a group of superheroes on the cover and had the title of Hero People.
“That one is about a group of heroes who come together to defend the planet Earth from all sounds of nasty ne'er do wells!” he grinned excitedly as he pointed to the various heroes. “That’s The Condor, that Visor-Girl, and of course, they are led by one of my personal favorites…Uncle Sam!” He beamed and handed that comic over to Chase.
Again he waited until Chase was done surveying that comic before he finally revealed the last comic cover. Akshay did not know it, but the lead character in this comic, a detective, bared a striking resemble to a certain NYPD Mutant Related Crimes officer by the name of Jorge Cervantes. All Akshay knew was that the comic was new, it was popular, and it was striking home with a lot of readers. He smirked as he turned over the last comic to Chase, which was simply called Powers.
“This one, is one of my favorites. In the town of City-tropolis, there is a cop by the name of Christian. He and his partner work for the police department, solving superhero related crimes and problems!” he grinned as he handed it over to Chase. “They haven’t said so, yet, but soon they are supposed to be revealing whether or not Christian has an super powers himself. So exciting!”
Akshay sat back on his haunches and watched Chase for a moment. It was only when Chase was done looking that he smirked and nodded.
“So what do you think? They sound good to you?” he beamed.

Akshay confidently led Emerald by the arm into the restaurant. He was more than pleased with the way that things were going thus far. Emerald seemed pleased with the choice, the restaurant did not look too crowded, and so far it seemed like he was actually impressing her. Though Akshay talked a big talk, he always judged himself for every little thing whenever he actually went on a date. Normally that usually led to him picking apart every little thing he did until he was so careful that he was not longer having fun on a date.
Thankfully, though, being around Emerald seemed to calm him a bit so that he was not so crazed. He was going to play this date by ear and keep himself from over thinking things too much.
He opened the door to lead her in but paused when Emerald stopped, looking like she had something important to say.
>> "Oi, I have one condition with this date…I help pay for the food, because now that you have gone and gotten me excited about awesome meat, I'm way hungrier than before and will probably eat you out of house and home If I let you pay."
He tilted his head as he looked at her eyes. God she really could be intimidating. She was tall, walked with a confident air, and just had this badass aura that made absolutely NO ONE want to mess with her. And it definitely made absolutely no one want to argue with her. But that was not how he really felt at the moment. He was not scared of her, well not totally. But at the same time he did not want to keep her from doing what she wanted to do.
Stopping, he took a breath as he watched her face closely. She was probably not used to hearing the word no. He smirked at the thought before he finally spoke.
“How about we split the bill down the middle, then?” he offered the compromise with a grin. “Clean cut even for the both of us?”
It really was the best compromise. That way he could pay for himself and at least part of her food without her having to feel awkward about buying her entire meal. Not that Akshay was at all prideful about the compromise. Besides it was obvious that she was a powerful figure and the last thing he wanted her to feel like was like he was trying to exert any kind of dominance over her. So he would work with her.
Once she finally agreed he nodded and led her inside and towards the hostess. The interior of the restaurant was really quite impressive. Not too fancy but rustic enough to make it seem like absolutely anyone would eat there (and they could!). It was actually one of Akshay’s favorite restaurants. And from the wagging of Emerald’s tail, it seemed as if she enjoyed it too. Most impressive though was the smell of prime steaks cooking that wafted through the room. It was enough to make anyone salivate.
But, Akshay kept his composure as he strolled up to the hostess behind her podium.
“Hi! Table for two, please?” he beamed.
The hostess smirked as she nodded to Akshay, blinked at the pairing between him and the tall redhead, and nodded. “Of course! Right this way,” she announced and led them to a smaller table for just two…

The auction was a hotbed of excitement. Not only were they presenting a veritable plethora of goodies to be sold off, but Akshay Malik got to sit next to the HOTTEST cosplayer who has EVER been attracted to him too! Despite his meeting with Newman Ledge, Akshay was having the ABSOLUTE best time at Comic-Con! This had to be his greatest adventure yet. What was top the day though, was if he could win the thing he came out here for.
“Sold! A 1-by-1 inch square of Princess Leia’s official ‘Chest Tape’,” the auctioneer said as she smacked her gavel onto the podium. “To you, sir! For $300!”
“Yesssss!!!” A portly man with a bad toupee shouted from the audience and bound to his feet.
Akshay and Samus peered over and shook their heads with a smirk. The man was obviously getting far too excited over his purchase because he quickly pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and began to dab his brow. Instantly this was followed by the need for his inhaler. He took a couple puffs as he eased himself back into his seat.
“Wow, he looks a bit exasperated,” Akshay commented.
“Of course he does! He just purchased a 1X1 square inch of Princess Leia’s anti-jiggle tape!” Samus said with a chuckle. “It’s a wonder he isn’t foaming at the mouth now.”
Akshay shrugged. “It’s just tape.”
Samus atched her eyebrows as she peered at him closely.
Then he grinned. “Besides, I got a whole folded 10 inches of it from a different auction and for lot cheaper.” he winked. “So I’m good.”
Samus marveled at him with a smile and wide eyes. “I totally have to see that.”
“You shall,” Akshay grinned devilishly at her. “Dinner? Tonight?”
A blush appeared on the busty, armor-clad woman’s cheeks as she grinned and nodded her head. Sure, Akshay already had her number. But sometimes, you never know. Booth babes and cosplayers tend to give fake numbers, even to those people who they are legitimately attracted to. That was why Akshay was bold enough to just ask her out, face-to-face. Now that was bravery.
“And around next lot is item number 458. A toilet seat from the set of Obi-Wan’s hut in Star Wars IV: A New Hope!”
Both Akshay and Samus went wide eyed as they snapped their heads back around to the auctioneer. There, on stage, they could actually SEE the item in question! It was in such pristine and glorious condition! It would be a jewel in any collector’s…um…collection!
The pair locked eyes and grinned. But there was threat behind their eyes. They were obviously not going to take it easy on one another.
