The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "We accept your compliments, Akshay Malik."
He had to say that this was turning out just slightly better than his experience with Riley Sommers. When he fawned over the supermodel, she had merely twisted her lips and acted as if he were some freak that was stalking her! Akshay couldn’t help it though! When he was around famous people, or people he admired, he tended to gush. But it was never done in malice or anything like that. It was only done in order to show how much he appreciated them.
At least Mahadevi here was more prone to accept his praises and flattery. It was enough to make the comic nerd grin with joy. He liked it when celebrities accepted their fans and their little quirks. It showed that they really were not so above them.
The signed picture and the pen were handed back. Akshay gratefully accepted them both and took a quick glance at the picture. The signature was written with beautiful penmanship! He would make sure to have this framed and added to his collection in his apartment when he got home.
>> "What is it that you do, in this country?"
Little realizing that there simply was no one else in the room, Akshay looked up as the young woman addressed him again. She actually wanted to know a little about him? Well now THAT was extremely awesome.
“Oh, I run a comic book store in the city,” he said with a grin. But quickly he followed it up with something that was hopefully a little more impressive than just being a clerk. “And, um, I’m an artist. I actually write an indie comic series that is doing pretty well. You should drop by my store some time! We just got in a shipment of some awesome Hindu mythology themed comics. You may like them.”

Newman charged and the only thing that Akshay could do was stand ready, pushing Samus behind him. If the jerk wanted to further make himself into a spoiled jerk by charging fool hardy into a battle that he could not win, then fine. Akshay would make sure to out sword and out fight Newman until the convention security (the old guys with the clipboards) escorted the wheezing Vader away. Akshay was not going to let this man get away with bully someone out of their prize.
Especially when that someone was the very attractive Samus Aran! But, was he held his lightsaber ready, he arched a brow. Newman had started running awhile ago…why wasn’t he here yet?
Newman, heavy with the lunch special of two cheeseburgers, gasped as he held onto the podium and breathed heavier than the toy Vader mask that he worn. He scrambled to remove the mask from his head and tossed it aside. Instead, Newman’s face was large, red, and puffy with sweat and exhaustion. He had only been running maybe half a second.
Akshay sighed.
“Seriously, dude,” Akshay said as he steered Samus towards the stairs. “Get on a treadmill!”
The young wordsmith sighed as he turned and began to lead his new friend away. But just as they reached the bottom of the stairs, he heard laughter. Not just any laughter, but laughter that seemed to denote that there was something far more malevolent behind him than he could have every imagined. He turned back around and paused when he saw Newman straighten up and sheath his lightsaber. With that done, he turned his red face onto Akshay.
“This isn’t over, yet.” He growled. “Give me…the toilet seat…”
Samus arched her brow as she glanced between Akshay and then to Newman. Defiantly she clutched the seat closer to her chest.
Newman’s eye twitched.
“So be it…” he snapped. Then…in shock, the entire auditorium watched as Newman collapsed…into a mass of bouncing balls with his face caricatured across their surfaces. All screamed and suddenly bounced towards Akshay and Samus in a rage.

One Hour Later
“Are you done throwing up?” Kev called into the restroom.
Akshay, kneeling against the porcelain toilet seat, sighed as he lifted himself up, grabbed onto the sink and proceeded to wash his mouth out. He had cried and thrown up so much that he figured he was never going to eat again. But he just could not help it. The very idea that Newman Ledge could possibly own this place made the man want to cringe and empty his stomach yet again, even though there was absolutely nothing in there!
So, taking a shaky breath, Akshay sighed as he stared at himself in the mirror situated in the dimly lit bathroom. He splashed more water on his face to calm himself down as he tried to not think about the possible situation. Another spasm shot through his stomach but it was weak and he managed to gain control over his body after it.
He was ready. He straightened himself up, turned around, and opened the bathroom door to reveal a startled and concerned Kev waiting for him.
“Akshay, seriously?” he asked.
Akshay hung his head as he sighed. “I can’t help it! Newman is such a…a…a tool! How could you possibly want to sell to him?”
“It’s not like I want to, Akshay,” Kev said as the pair of them walked back out to the front of the store. “But in this economy, not many people want to get into the comic biz; not unless it’ll be a sure thing. Now, you know Newman is a jerk, but he knows how to turn around the business and make it thrive.”
“By being a jerk to the employees! You’ve seen how he treats them and scams the customers. That is the only way he makes money because he is too sly to really get caught,” Akshay shook his head. “You sell to him and ‘One Comic to Rule Them All’ will be a shadow of its former self.”
Kev sighed as he stopped and rest his back against one of the walls and watched as Akshay paced back and forth.
“I’m sorry, Akshay. But…I need to go home. I can’t stay in New York anymore.” Kev mumbled and shook his head. “I need to sell. And if not to Newman, then who?”
Akshay sighed as he lowered his head and wanted to punch something. He loved this comic shop way too much to let it go so easily. It was him that painted it, that ordered all the comics, that hired the new workers, trained them, that upheld the costume days and came up with the skits, and even came here on weekends when repair men needed to come and fix things. He put his heart and soul into this place so how could he just let it go? How could he watch it fall into the ruinous hands of Newman Ledge?
He turned his eyes back to the rows and rows of comics. He then spotted his own. The diamond in the rough, the thing that made his comic shop partly his. And suddenly he got a stupid, ridiculous, MAD idea. And it blossomed into a force of nature in his head that he would not be able to ignore.
He snapped his head back around to Kev.
“Me.” Akshay said with a conviction that he didn’t realize he had. “I’ll buy it.”

>> "Erm...I'm not pretty but thank you so much!"
Akshay had to smirk but he didn’t say anything further. It was obvious that this was an argument that he simply was no going to win, no matter how hard he tried. He really and truly did thing that the Dahlia was pretty. He loved the colors, the patterns, but he would be hard pressed to convince her of that. She had apparently made up her mind about certain aspects of her life, and that was entirely her own prerogative.
The wordsmith only smiled in a friendly manner as he listened to the pouring rain outside. It was definitely not a day fit for man, nor beast.
Quickly, though the conversation switched back to the comic shop and to how they could spend the time sitting out the storm.
>> "Um, which comic do you like best? I, uh, I don't read them but I bet there are some really cool ones!"
He smirked; a subject near and dear to his heart. It was all the urging he needed to change topics and speak about something that he was both excited about and that he could teach someone else on. He loved teaching new people about comics; it had to be one of his favorite past times.
“Hmm, I think I have a few in mind that could spark your interest,” he grinned. He then motioned for her to follow him. After only a second or two of browsing he managed to pull out a pair of comics that seemed to fit the bill for the evening. “Ah, these should be pretty good.”
He smirked as he turned around to face her. Suddenly he presented her with a pair of comics. The first one was titled, Dragon Chick and had a half-dragon, half-woman on the cover. She looked sleek and powerful and seemed to be a character that Akshay greatly respected. The other, though looked a little darker and had a warrior-like redhead on the cover. The title of this one was simply “Slaggathor”.
“These are excellent,” he nodded and showed them over. “Dragon Chick is especially badass because she is just an awesome character, with great powers, and a head for solving crimes.” He then nodded to the other. “And Slaggathor is my personal favorite because of her constantly fighting the forces of true evil. And also because, you know,” he said and then pretended to cough into his hand. “Iwroteanddrewit *cough cough*” he explained with a shy grin.

Akshay had tried…and he hit home! The first squeeze of the trigger had managed to get water into the attacking man’s eyes, but the second barely grazed his arm. Not that Akshay was expecting to do much with only a water gun, but he was hoping that it would have at least distracted his attacker enough to keep him from flattening the young, purple skinned woman with the tubes that had jumped down to help him.
It became apparent though that maybe she was not going need his help. She had grabbed only some bars with her wiry tubes and pulled herself out of harm’s way! That was completely awesome! And on top of it, the man was too distracted by him that he was stumbling towards that large brick wall that faced him. He would effectively knock himself out! They would not have to get pulled into some fight to the death, or would anyone have to get anymore needlessly harmed in the process! It was the best solution all around.
Wait, bars shouldn’t break like that. And why did the fleshy man trip so inelegantly?! Gawd, the both of them were just ruining this perfect plan for peace and harmony.
Akshay winced as both of them fell to the ground like sacks of potatoes. It looked painful and he hoped that neither of them, well the girl at least, was not paralyzed because of it. Unfortunately, though, it seemed as if the sloshy creature was the first to move. He snapped his head around and locked eyes with Akshay, and the wordsmith, in that moment, felt a real pang of fear.
His attacker then claimed his namesake and attacked!
Akshay squeaked the second that he saw the tendril coming straight for him. He really didn’t know what to do other than to lift his shield once again. It was badly dented from the last time so it didn’t seem like he was going to be able to continue to protect himself much longer. But his frantic mind only thought to protect himself.
Up the shield went…and he barely managed to graze the elongated hand. It easily slipped past and struck him fast across the cheek. Akshay gasped as pain spider-webbed out from the spot that he was hit. Spit and blood flew from his mouth as he was sent rolling back onto his back and effectively dazed him. Akshay gasped as he struggled to regain his bearings but the pain and the daze just made it hard for him to focus.
Akshay blinked as he stared up at the sky. This…was so not his night…

The audience erupted with applause, laughter, tears, and even some jealous cringing and hissing. Samus had stood up, grinned as he strolled through the auditorium and made her way directly to auctioneer. The woman was captivating as she walked and made absolutely everyone in the room jealous. Not only was she gorgeous, but she had money, and she was a complete nerd; she was everything these dweebs had ever wanted in a woman. And many of whom who sat near Akshay new that he was going to go out on a date with her.
Akshay grinned. Eat it, you geeks, he chuckled in his thoughts.
But even as Samus strolled up to claim her coveted item, it was obvious that not everyone was going to let this go easily. A few people had stormed out of the auditorium in wheezing fits, but there was one that was obviously not going to let this go easily.
Darth Vader (Newman Ledge) moved onto his feet (with some effort) and growled a little through his mask. The few people near him could definitely feel the anger and rage that was exuding off of his very round body. He stormed towards the stage, ignoring the whispers from the people who were all around him. One step, two steps, and suddenly Newman was standing at the stage where Samus was getting her congratulations on earning the item.
Newman climbed the steps onto the stage and suddenly pulled his toy lightsaber from his belt and extended the blade. He then raise it to point the end threatening at Samus. The flash and lights of the toy grabbed everyone’s attention.
“Relinquish the toilet seat!” he hissed. “That should have been mind! You have no right to it!”
Akshay bolted onto his feet. Samus looked irritated and narrowed her eyes as she held her won item behind her back. And Auctioneer, even though the saber was just a toy, ran off the stay in fear (what a weenie). Newman growled and edged closer to Samus, his weapon still in hand and pointed directly at her.
“I said…hand it over, girlie.”
“That’s enough, Newman!” Akshay announced from his seat. Slipping out of the aisle (amidst excuses and apologies) and dashed over to the stage. Quickly he leapt onto it and pulled his own toy saber from his belt and extended it with a flash and screech. “You lost, Newman. Suck it up and back away! Before you do something stupid…”
Darth Newman stood there, as if contemplating what Akshay had said. For second it seemed as if reason was going to actually win out; that the man was going to take a breath, accept his loss, and move on. But things are rarely that easy.
Instead, Newman Ledge lifted his gaze, raised his sword and took the first slashed with a shrieking “AAAAAIIIIIIIYYYYYEEEEEE!!!”

It took a moment for Akshay to finally realize that he was being spoken to. Swimming through the hazy blackness that enveloped his mind, the young wordsmith did his best to try to return to the world of the conscious but this place was darkness was just far too sweet and relaxing for him to want to leave so soon. Here there was no madness about stores closing or about his life changing forever. It was a sweet realm that made him feel safe and comforted. Why should he go back?
But the worried voice of his friend and boss rang too loud in the emptiness. It only took a few more urgings before the comic nerd finally decided that he had to face reality. He swam and he swam until finally his face broke the surface.
Akshay’s eyes opened wide as he found himself in a sitting position against the wall, across from him, Kev Smithers say with his back to the counter. The two friends simply stared at one another, trying to make sense of everything going on in their world. Akshay slowly controlled his breathing, while Kev rest his head back against the counter once he was sure that Akshay was not going to pass out again.
Finally, Kev sighed as he looked at his friend.
“Are you done with that little panic attack?” he asked.
Akshay gulped and nodded.
“Good. Cause if you do that again, I’m going to kill you myself,” he smirked.
Akshay smirked in response but that did little to alleviate the sheer weight of what was going on. There was still the dark cloud of what Kev had said floating above their heads. With caution, and with poise, Akshay finally raised his gaze to Kev and asked him in the most polite manner what was going on.
“Kev…WHAT THE &$%#?!”
Well…maybe not that much poise.
Kev smirked and sighed heavily as he reached into the counter he had his back pressed against. He dug around for a second before he finally managed to pull out Akshay secret stash of gummi worms. Opening the pack he pluck one out and mindfully began to chew on it. A second later he just sighed again.
“Akshay, I…I can’t keep the store running anymore,” he said with a shrug. “Competition is tough, I really don’t have the funds, and…Newman Ledge. His comic store, it’s slaughtering us. And he keeps harassing me but…there’s nothing I can do about it. Really nothing much the police can do about someone leave broken action figures on your doorstep.”
“Newman…” Akshay mumbled disdainfully. He hated that large, round man with the exceptionally fake smile.
“Yeah,” Kev finally said. “I…just can’t do this anymore. I think…I think I’m going to go back to California. At least there the nerds are quite so…nerdy, especially with threats. So…I’m going to sell. I dunno if another comic owner would want to by this place. Newman might by the one who actually buys so you might not be completely out of a jo—“
“Noooooooooooooo!!” Akshay cried to the heavens. And cried…and cried…and cried…

He had never seen her like this. She looked absolutely destroyed to the point that he was terrified that if he touched her, she would just shatter into tens of thousands of pieces. Just what was going on? This was obviously more than just the fact that he was getting a few news clippings early. If that had really been all, then she was having a hell of a reaction to it. But it quickly became apparent that that simply was not the case. There was something dipper here, something that Akshay had never witnessed in Emerald before, probably something that she did not want him to ever see.
Unfortunately, now, he was getting a full view of it. He was seeing something that Emerald never wanted him to see and Akshay really did not know how to react to it. He remained silently as he knelt next to her and simply waited for her to make the first move.
He could not have to wait long.
>> "Akshay...I...I was supposed to be number one and the last one. "
Akshay, in no way, expected what Emerald was going to reveal. She had yet to see her, really, without any clothes on and quickly he understood why. The second that he saw the disfiguring scar that ran up the length of her body, Akshay himself winced in pain. It looked like something from an absolutely horrible experience.
Then Emerald told her tale of its origin and he too began to feel just a tad bit sick to the stomach. She didn’t have to go into detail. Just the fact that she had lived through that experience, an experience that he read of others going through that he was close to passing out. Just the very thought that Emerald could have gone through something like that was maddening. How was he supposed to react? He felt sick, queasy, angry and sad. Not towards Emerald or any of her actions, obviously, but completely because she had gone through it.
Nobody deserved to go through that.
Nobody deserved to have to tell such a tale.
>> "I didn't want you to worry about me, I never wanted anyone to worry about me so I usually don't say a word,"
Her words implored him to not feel sorry for her. As if Akshay could ever feel “sorry” of Emerald Lupin. The woman was a strong and power force of nature. Sure, to most people believing such, this scene would come off as world shattering but not Akshay. Even though Emerald had gone through such an ordeal, to him she was only stronger than most people would have thought. She survived, and survival always equals strentch.
Then her arms suddenly wrapped around him and all Akshay could do was sigh as he hugged her back. It was not a sigh of discontent or anything, but that of sympathy; earned sympathy. Resting his cheek against the top of her head, Akshay hugged her tightly, letting his arms warm her just a tad. Softly he ran the palm of his hand against her back tenderly, and kissed the top of her head. She was a mess at the moment but, Akshay Malik didn’t care. He cared about her so much that, even after hearing this, all he could do was hold her as gently as possible.

Thu-Thump! Thu-Thump! Thu-Thump!
Akshay could feel the tendrils of blackness reaching out like arching claws from the fields of his vision. The numbness that started from his toes began to extend, growing higher and higher as he tried to control his breathing. Quickly, though, that was beginning to prove impossible. It was like a vice had wrapped around his stomach and it was squeezing tighter and tighter with every millisecond that passed on. Akshay felt himself being deprived of air. There was no way, simply no way that he could handle this right now…
One Comic to Rule Them All…was closing?
Thu-Thump! Thu-Thump!
His eyes blurred over as he watched Kev Smithers walked up to him. His old friend, the man that gave him this wonderful job, that gave him his shot with his comic book series, he was really telling him that his sanctuary, his home away from home, his Fortress of Aloneitude was closing down! And the look on his face was a serious one! He wasn’t kidding!
“Akshay?”
Thu-Thump!
Eyes rolling up, mind finally shutting down like an old computer, and suddenly Akshay felt gravity win over his feet. The lanky wordsmith collapsed into a heap on the ground, feeling the pain that emitted from his fall wrap around him like a warm blanket. In the darkness he was safe, he was happy, and there were no silly talks about the closing of his absolutely favorite place in the world. All he could hear was a faint voice whispering…

Akshay was exasperated. He really did not think it would be that hard to kill a vampire. They make it look so easy on the big screen. Just a poke on the chest and boom, they’re gone! But apparently it is much harder than it looks. It took Akshay several stabs to get rid of that vampire and now, all of a sudden, he was on the ground, next to Maya, eyeing the army of vampires that were getting ready to swarm all over him. This was suddenly beginning to get just a tad more difficult than he originally thought it would be.
Still cool nonetheless!
But as he cringed back, gripping the arrow in hand and ready to go down fighting, suddenly that irritated voice rang out next to him…
>> "Freeze Program."
Vampires were in mid lunge, the clouds that wafted through the sky paused, even a bird that was flying by completely halted in its movements. Suddenly Akshay was staring at a scenario that existed out of time. Slowly this world dissolved again until both he and Maya were sitting on the floor, of the large, empty space, that they had walked into the first time. It was like everything that had occurred, hadn’t, and it was erased from existence. But as Akshay reached up to his neck, he winced. Apparently the wounds were very real.
Eyes wide, he grinned as he looked at the blood on his hand. “Awwwesso—“
>> "You say awesome one more time and I'm gonna lock you in here…C'mon I'll take ya to the infirmary. And give me that phone."
“Huh?” he blinked as he stood up. “OH sure,” he beamed as he pulled out his phone again and handed it over. “Can you like, take a snap shot of me standing here? Totally look cool!”

>> "Well your friend seems to be getting information he shouldn't be privileged to and you never know if you might get in trouble for it,"
Akshay smirked but nodded and said nothing else about the matter. He knew that Emerald’s fears were not unfounded. People got in trouble for this type of stuff all the time, but Akshay labored under the belief that what he was doing really wasn’t against the law. After all, it was not like he was selling this information to the highest bidder or anything. He was simply drawing inspiration from events and he was not even using any names. They were just stories he altered that had barely any connections with the actual stories that were sent to him.
But that did not mean there was not a chance he could get in trouble. He thanked the luck he had thus far that he had evaded trouble. Hopefully that would continue, at least until he could find his own, constant fount of inspiration.
>> "Look at all of these, half this stuff didn't even get to the cops before these hit the racks, I'm glad you only draw a little inspiration from this stuff, cause these are really graphically describe-"
Akshay arched a brow. Suddenly Emerald had stopped talking when she reached an article that had been in one of his comics. It was a particular gruesome one about a possible werewolf devouring people in the city. Akshay found it a bit too disturbing to use as a main story arc in one his issues of Slaggathor so instead he only used a mention of it in some background news reports in his comics. Other than that, there was no real connection to the article.
But the look on Emerald’s face disturbed him just a tad. Was she okay? She looked like she had seen a ghost or something.
“Emerald?” he asked with slow concern…
>> "I'll be right back,"
She was up and gone. It was so sudden that Akshay was actually startled to move to his feet. He turned towards the bathroom she had run into and immediately heard the retching that had followed. A swift panic washed over him as he feared that maybe she was having an adverse reaction to the medicine she had taken so he dashed over, crawling over his sofa until he was at the bathroom door.
He then heard the whimper. A whimper that made his heart break.
Slowly he pushed open the door and found Emerald, kneeling on the ground, head resting on the toilet seat; it had to be probably the most vulnerable that he had ever seen this woman. Trying to keep calm and not startle her, Akshay slipped in quietly, concern flashing across his face, until he was kneeling next to her.

>> "Hey, I brought food."
The voice was sudden and just enough to cause Akshay to shake out of his little world. He was still a little on cloud nine from the whole experience and didn’t know how to accurately present himself anymore. It was over, finally, but the camera man had wanted him to stick around? Why? He shook that off as he blinked at the…VERY tall man that came in bearing sandwiches. He looked like a pretty boy but obviously someone that Akshay did not want to get on the wrong side of.
Then Riley detached herself and it instantly became clear who this person was in relation to this whole thing.
>> "Thanks…We can eat in my room if you have time to stay…”
The blush, the sudden wide-eyed look, the wordsmith had to grin a little. Sooooo, the saucy condescending model had a boyfriend, eh? Figured. But he was most surprised by her reaction to him. She almost looked like…she was ashamed to be caught in such a pose with another man, even though she was strictly working. Intereeeesting…
>> “Nice work kid."
Akshay gave a small wave in response. Now that the shot and initial shock of meeting her was over, he was able to think just a little more clearly. Yes, he was infatuated, but it was slowly sinking in that she probably would have rather been absolutely anywhere than this photo shoot. He had to hand it to her, she really was a trooper for putting up with him…AND all the nerds she was still going to have to contend with the rest of the day.
He sighed a little. Maybe…he really should just leave. He had probably taken enough time from everyone and they still had a lot to do.

Akshay Malik sat behind the counter in the shop “One Comic to Rule Them All”. He had gotten a phone call from the owner, Mr. Kev Smithers and the tone of his voice was definitely not something that Akshay was excited to hear. It sounded foreboding, tired, and just a little life-altering. Plus it did not help that when he called, he told Akshay “This will change your life.” The whole day Akshay was not nervous and thinking as to what that could possibly mean. What did Kev mean by his new would change his life? Was Kev going to proclaim his undying love for him?!
…flattered by no.
So Akshay sat behind the counter, mulling as he sipped from his Romba Juice Smoothie and tried to stop thinking about exactly what Kev wanted to say. It was rather foolish of him to be so panicked. After all, Kev was the one that gave his comic book a shot by showcasing it here and even helped Akshay come up with some of the finer points of the story arcs. Kev was good news incarnate!
Then he heard the back door open and Akshay straightened up to see the owner stroll through. He wore a long coat, shorts that went down just a little past his knees and long t-shirt that looked stained with something of the cheesy variety. Akshay suddenly began to get a bad feeling. Kev only turned to eating cheese when he was really down about something.
And judging by the looks it the stain, it was a double cheese pizza. Oh…no….
“Hey Akshay,” Kev muttered as he strolled through the comic store and began to look around in an interested manner. It was almost as if he were a tourist taking in the view.
“Yo, boss man,” Akshay greeted. It was met with a sad, little smirk on Kev’s face. “What’s up?”
Kev sighed as he looked longingly one more time around him before he turned back around to face Akshay. He fixed his glasses before finally started to walk towards him.
“Akshay…we’ve had a good run, haven’t we? I mean, I was only open a week when you danced your way into the door…dressed up like Captain Goldfish…and said that just how to normally dressed.” Kev chuckled.
Akshay, on the other hand, was just a little terrified.
“Um…i-is there are reason that you are flashba--?”

Akshay was one the ground and it had definitely hurt. His back pressed up against the brick wall, his arm which held the shield was throbbing from where the man had suddenly kicked him, and Akshay was sure that none of this was going to go well. He had demanded an explanation, but he probably should have left it a mystery. Instead the man in front of him seemed to take the tone of his voice personally and crept forward, breathing heavily, and raised his fist (a massive one at that) in order to bring it down upon his head.
Wide-eyed, Akshay scrambled to move despite the pain but all his efforts got him was a flail or two. The brick wall was slick with some slime he couldn’t identify and his arm was throbbing. But he was not going to be pummeled to death by some ill-tempered man in a back alley of New York.
That…was way too clichéd.
>> “I asked you a question,”
He tried to move, lifted his sore and dented shield, trying to find some voice to reason with the man in front of him. But before he could, there was the suddenly sound of someone else dropping down nearby. Akshay paused in disbelief as he stared at a woman…with purple skin and several tube-like things pointed directly at his attacker. Did he just get saved by Professor Squidess?! Today was SUCH a comic book day.
>> "Don't you know it’s not nice to hurt people?"
>> “You should probably mind your own business.”
Akshay watched in stunned silence as the paired seemed to be staring each other off. Before he knew it, there were TWO people with tentacles now. The man who had attacked him had apparently been able to grow them from his very flesh, almost mimicking his savior exactly. Tubes/Tentacles withered about and he watched as the offending figure crouched down momentarily before suddenly take a dead-on run towards his protector. Akshay, had to do something.
His mind went into autopilot as he reached to his belt. Slipped into the holster was a gun…a…realistic looking water gun that he had added to the costume to complete the illusion of the World War II hero American Soldier. Hand slipping around the grip, Akshay pulled it up and, feeling the water slosh around inside, he squeezed the trigger.
Two spurts shot out, aimed directly for the attackers face if to do nothing other than distract him…
