The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The smile that stretched across her lips was a glorious one and it actually made the young wordsmith smile appreciatively. She apparently was very happy with his answer. He had to admit that it was a quite a feat to undertake, especially since he knew so few people in his own social circles that actually knew anything about Hindu mythology. Really, what was the point if no one knew what you were talking about?
>> "The Ramayana…A worthy story of being told again by artists. It has everything a tale needs to be heard. It has truth."
He beamed. That was why. It was because he felt it was a story that needed to be told and offered up for the masses to have a chance to enjoy it as well. Akshay loved all stories from all over the world but not every one of them gets their chance in the sunlight. The current trend of mythology tended to circle around more European stories such as Greek or Roman, while others tended to fall to the wayside. That was why Akshay wanted to take a chance at offering up a story that had never been told before.
Now that he was thinking about it, he really felt like he should pick up his inking pens again the second he got home. He probably could get a few pages of it done tonight since he knew exactly where they were in his house…
>> "And you have never worshipped a goddess before? I was told there are no deities in this part of the world. That is one of the reasons I was sent here. People would want to see me."
He shook his head “no” to that first question. To be honest, his adopted parents were not really all that religious so he had little experience with worship. And he definitely had no idea about worshipping a goddess that would actually talk back to you. But…did this woman actually think she was a goddess? Really and truly, or was she just playing her character to the T?
“Well, I know of only one deity really, and it he ‘lives’ in the churches around the country,” he said with a small shrug. “but you are right I don’t think most people have met an actual goddess.” he smiled innocently at he tilted his head to look at her closely. He could definitely see how people in her country would consider her a living goddess but was it all just an act? “W-When did you, you know, find out you were a goddess? If you don’t mind me asking…”

Akshay sighed as he stood in the middle of the comic shop that, for some reason, just seemed to be that much larger. In his hands he held the keys to the shop. Now, Akshay had always had keys to the shop, but this was far more symbolic. He now actually OWNED the keys to the shop! He was an actually business man now! With a business of his own! A business…that could probably fail and completely wipe him clean of every single cent that he owned.
…
…
…But Akshay refused to let such thoughts steal away his thunder! He knew it was a risk, he was not stupid. This economy was not exactly the best thing for budding, new businesses so it was very possible that Akshay was walking into quicksand. But he was not going to let his beloved comic shop slip into ruin or disuse due to someone like Newman Ledge.
He sighed as he strolled, brushing his fingers across the comic stands, peering at the cases filled with past dated comics, and glanced up at all the merchandise, posters, signs, toys, figurines, everything in here was his. With his passion and energy for this place, he knew he would treat this place with all the respect and honor that it deserved. This place was going to be his baby and with it, it could not only share his enthusiasm for comics, but he’ll be able to continue launching his own comic series. For once, Akshay did not feel like he bit off more than her could chew.
He felt just right. This had to be the best decision, it simply had to be.
A sigh on his lips, Akshay beamed as he looked around the store once more before shoving the keys in his pocket and heading for the backdoor so that he could leave. He would be here bright and early on the morrow to open HIS comic shop.

>> "Not that sister…I am not the nice, friendly, nice-to-meet-you sister. That's Ruby. Or Sapphire. I am the 'If you ever, ever hurt Emerald even a little bit, I will hunt your sorry ass down with all the skill you have just seen, and show you pain that will make you regret you have ever been born.'That sister. Do I make myself abundantly clear?"
Akshay…blinked…
Then blinked again...
Then he grinned.
“You…are SO goddamn adorable!” he beamed.
Anyone else probably would have run from the looks that Maya was giving off, the castrating fire of her eyes should have been enough to make any man shrivel and curl up into the fetal position. But, apparently Akshay Malik was simply not other guys. Though he was usually scared to get involved in altercations, Akshay believed himself to be a good man with good tendencies. Whether or not other people believed that about him, well, he simply didn’t care.
Though he was staring at a young woman, whom he was slowly beginning to understand wanted nothing more than to stick his head on a pike outside of Emerald’s house as a warning to all other people, he could understand her warning. She was protective, he got that. But he was not going to get scared off for being accused of being the type of person he simply wasn’t.
Akshay had a good heart. It was not something he ever wanted to flaunt, but deep down he knew he was a good man. Whether other people believed that, well, that was up to them. He couldn’t make anyone do anything they didn’t want to.
“Listen Maya,” he said as he disengaged himself from her grip. “I get you want her safe, I do. But I do care about her, a lot. So I really wish that you will eventually rest assured that I don’t mean her any harm. You can either accept that or don’t, that’s not up to me. I came here in friendship, and I’ve been friendly to you the whole time, I have no ulterior motives or objectives. It’s up to you if you see something there that simply isn’t.” he shrugged. “Choice is yours, my friend.” He walked past her, headed for the stairs that would lead back up to the mansion. “OH!” he beamed as he turned back around to face her. “Your skills are good, I don’t doubt that. But after seeing what Emerald can wolf into, being beaten bloody by a man with massive hands, fought against a much of militarized bank robbers, and against slug people, you really don’t scare me. So please, stop trying? It won’t make me like you any less.” He beamed a bright smile of friendship again and stared to climb.

Her hand slipped into his and Akshay felt himself being pulled away from the cool, white interior of the bathroom towards the bedroom. He did not fight Emerald but instead let her lead the way. Akshay would have been perfectly happy just sleeping on the couch but if she needed him to lie next to her, then he would. It was understandable, as well, considering absolutely everything that she had gone through, not only this night but before as well.
His bedroom was probably just as geeked out as the rest of his apartment. This room had a large, queen-sized bed with more book shelves, filled with a combination of books, graphic novels, and photographs while on the floor near his dresser were several comic book storage boxes that have “Do Not Touch!” scrawled all over them.
Once in his room, Akshay closed the curtains and waited for Emerald climb in underneath the covers first. It was only when she was settled in that he slipped in next to her. Immediately she snuggled up close and Akshay sighed a little contentedly as he reached around and gently began to stroke her hair in order to help her sleep. She had been through a lot today and he knew that she definitely needed her rest.
As she held him close, she whispered to him…
>> “Akshay…you don’t mind me talking to you do you? I just, really can’t show this side of myself to anyone else and I just feel really comfortable around you.”
Her eyes drifting closed, and Akshay himself extremely comfortable, shook his head as he continued to run his fingers through her hair. As he did so, he thought about everything she had gone through, all the blood that she had seen, and he began to see why she did not talk to just anyone. How could see? Seeing that much violence, having that wild of a life, it makes sense that she would reserve herself only for those people that she was most closest to.
In that moment, he felt truly honored.
“No, I’m…I’m actually glad that you want to reveal so much to me,” he said as he leaned down and softly kissed the top of her head. “I’m honored that you trust me so much,” said as he kept stroking her hair. “And I’m sorry, that you had to go through so much.” The whisper fell from his lips as he realized how heavy his eyes were. Slowly he continue to pet run his fingers along her scalp and started to drift.

>> "An artist…And you work with the tales of gods? Tell me, which one is your favorite?"
He beamed. Yes, he was an artist. Though he was a comic artist, to Akshay, it was all part of the same thing, no matter what anyone else said. Da Vinci, Van Gogh, they were just all comic artists at heart, wanting to tell a story with pictures they created themselves. He was sure that if comic shops existed back then, then these artists were sure to take part in them. Probably would have ended up creating some rather interesting comics.
But as he thought about this, the young woman turned her attention back to him and actually asked him a question. Did he work with stories of the gods? He did a couple of one-shot issues that did deal with them, from various mythologies, but had he ever done a comic that was purely on one mythology?
He smirked as he was questioned as to his favorite. He certainly did have his favorites but there was at least one that he was sure was both his best and technically a failure. A small, sad smile appeared on his face as he looked up to Mahadevi…
“I actually produce a comic that is my favorite, it delves a lot into the supernatural world and such and I enjoy it. But, my absolute favorite is a comic that I never finished. I attempted to draw and create the ‘Ramayana,” he said with a little bit of struggle. “I read it, well, a translation of it, in college and I always thought it would make an awesome story for people to know and read about. Unfortunately, I only got about halfway done before I produced this other comic that I have created and…I just haven’t had time. I need to get back into it.”
He really did and hoped that he would be able to find time, even with his attention on the Slaggathor comic.

>> "Yeah…She's my sister."
Akshay tilted his head. Sister? Emerald had told him that she had sisters but he had seen pictures of them, none of them looked at all like this woman here. Was she lying to him? It was quite possible. But as he followed after the badass woman with the bow and arrows, a memory of a conversation began to poke at the back of his mine. She said something…about a girl…named Maya…
Maya was her close friend! She just hadn’t seen her in forever! A spark of happiness, awe, and joy flashed across his face. He had yet to met anyone truly close to Emerald since everyone was either an enemy or were far away from her. Maybe she was embarrassed about him? He would have to tease her about that later.
But, returning to the moment, he grinned as he jogged after Maya and chuckled as he swiftly too her hand (whether she offered or not) and shook it enthusiastically.
ShakeShakeShake!
“Now I remember!!! Emerald did mention you!” he beamed as he shook her hand nearly off. “It is SO nice to meet you! I’ve always wanted to meet one of Emerald’s friends! So glad we got to finally meet!”

Kev tilted his head as he locked eyes with Akshay. It was obvious that he was trying to gauge whether or not Akshay was serious. But as he stood there, staring at the boy, it was obvious that Akshay was dead serious; at least that was the look in his eyes. Kev, unsure of how to respond to this, simply stood back and waited for a second or two, probably wanting to see whether or not Akshay was going to snap out of his statement and take it back. But, standing there, Kev understood on some level that the young wordsmith was completely and utterly serious.
A blink of his eyes and Kev adjust his glasses.
“What, Akshay, are you serious?” he asked.
Akshay, for a second, was not sure whether or not he was. Part of him was terrified and he thought for sure that he was going to say no, that it was all brought on by the heat of the moment. But something sparked inside Akshay, something that told that as scary a decision as this was, it was the absolute right one.
He nodded, in response to Kev’s question, and a slow grin came across his lips.
“Yeah…I’m serious…” he said.
“Akshay…”
“Kev, Kev,” he responded as he walked up to him, a look of intent in his eyes. “I can do this. I mean, I have money saved from my sales, and I’m sure I can make money off this place, hell, I’ve been running it for majority of the time anyways! No offense.”
Kev looked confused for a second, unsure really of what to do. The offer that Newman ledge could give him would have huge, he knew that, but he also knew that the majority of what Akshay said about him was true as well. While he didn’t want to see his comic shop go, he knew he also needed the money. But there was just something about Akshay that was…inspiring…
Kev grinned.
“Akshay…I mean…if you can manage the down payment…”
“Course I can!” Akshay beamed. “Give me this chance. I can afford the down payment and you’ll make the rest of the money back before you know it. I promise on my word, that you will!”
Kev, regarding him for a moment, chuckled and finally nodded.
“Okay, Akshay. One Comic to Rule Them all…it’s yours.”

*would not dream of angry so illustrious of a Calleycat* Sorry Ms. Calley. I couldn't resist.
As for the Alternate Timelines, personally, I prefer the dream sequence. It fits much easier and many of the people were not here for the first future plot so this will be a new experience (as it will be for me). Suddenly waking up from a dream just feels much easier than working with alternate times. When they wake up from the dream, then they will know the warnings anyway. In my opinion it just seems easier this way. Good suggestion though Emerald.

I agree, Sky. In my humble opinion, probably the best way to run this is as a dream sequence. It is just cleaner. That way, with characters I include in the new future plot, I can still play them in other threads that are in the current time. So, when we reach the end of the Age of Sebastian thread, everyone will simply wake up from a good night's sleep (on whatever day the plot ends) and be like "Whoa..weird dream." I love this concept!

>> "You know what that son of a b*tch, said to me, well one of the many thing at least? That I wouldn't find anyone who would want feral minded, damaged beast like me besides him…Found out, not feral minded and it looks like I somehow fond someone who finally likes me for who I am, werewolf or otherwise."
"I do, Emerald," he replied. "I like absolutely everything about you. He...didn't know what he was talking about."
Akshay tightened his hug on Emerald, in a way that promised that he would never let her go again. Just hearing what had happened, what she told him, made his blood boil. Whatever this person was, he wasn’t a person. Nothing even resembling it. Whoever did this was a monster that deserved nothing more than a silver bullet between the eyes.
But Akshay did not get so mad that his anger boiled over onto Emerald. Instead he kept his cool as he hugged her tight. She definitely did have someone who cared about her; deeply, and who appreciated every part of her, even the werewolfy parts. Akshay had decided that he did care about this woman and he wanted to do whatever he could to prove that. With a lifetime thus far of failing at romantic outings, he finally found a woman who liked him, for him, and to whom he could reciprocate. He was not going to let that go easily.
Emerald leaned in and nuzzled against his cheek. He smiled a little. He did watch at least one of those wolf documentaries that she pointed out to him and he knew that that was a caring gesture. Awkwardly, Akshay did his best to copy it for her, and nuzzled her cheek back, but it came off kind of silly (in his eyes anyways) since he was not a wolf all his life. But he sighed as he loosened his grip once she finally decided to stand.
Akshay stood as she rinsed her mouth out with mouthwash before she finally turned back to face him, looking just a little more put together after her mini breakdown.
>> "Wanna go to bed in your bed? It might be a little more comfortable than sleeping on the floor."
He smirked in a understanding manner.
“I was going to bunk on the sofa. But…so long as you don’t mind,” he said with a nod. “I don’t take up much space. You probably won’t even know that I am there,” he smiled. But he nodded. He doubted that she really wanted to sleep by herself tonight, which was why he agreed. Slowly he opened the door to the bathroom and waited for her to exit first.

Well, for sure I am throwing Jorge and Agnes in. Depending on the state of the world, Jorge will probably still be trying to protect people and collect resources for them. Maybe lead a band of nomads or something.
Agnes will seek seclusions and probably lord over all the insects that survived the blast and will be living in a territory of her own, trying to live with herself for helping bring the world to this state.
But I'm pretty free with both characters. Still on the fence about Akshay and Vicente. If I get a good idea I may throw in either/or.
To most people, this would have been a travesty. Returning to work from lunch break and finding that your store had been attacked by some paint monster with a bad head cold (at least that is what it looked like), would have immediately sent some people into a complete, downward spiral. Weaker comic store owners would have freaked out, would have called the cops, or maybe even forced them to close shop while they cleaned up. Even Akshay had to admit that he was completely caught off guard by the paint attack that had occurred to his store.
But…Akshay was not like most people. While yes, he did file a police report, Akshay did not fall to pieces and did not panic into some dark, dank hole from which he could never recover. Akshay was beyond such things. The thing was that he had no idea who would do this.
He eyed the crown, he looked at the name “Celeste” elegantly written underneath it, but absolutely none if rang a bell. Obviously whoever this person was, was of no importance to him otherwise he would remember, right? They probably were not important to anyone and that was why Akshay began to feel so bad for whoever did this. Did they really haven to go to such lengths to make themselves known to the world? Were they really so pathetic to the point that they would have to explode into a cacophony of loud colors in order to feel adequate enough to justify their place in the universe?
If so…then Akshay’s heart wanted to embrace them. Maybe, one day, whoever this unknown person was, would eventually learn to love themselves without shouting for attention. Maybe…there was hope for them.
That was why Akshay decided to honor whoever this person was. He would use this tremendous work of art in his favor. Taking only a couple week or so, Akshay took the time to produce a quick, one sheet comic. A teaser to unveil a new character that would join his favorite creation Slaggathor in the fight against evil!
The day came and Akshay had sent word out amongst all his fans and their fan circles about the unveiling. Before he knew it, droves of people showed up. There was a line outside of the door to his shop, everyone admiring the art work on the windows and congratulated Akshay on a brilliant marketing tactic. But, of course, everyone wanted to see the character! Who was going to help Slaggathor?
That was easy. While everyone was lined up outside, talking excitedly and eager, Akshay stepped out of his comic store carrying a rather large cardboard cutout of a figure. Setting it down just outside his door he beamed and…pulled the sheet off.
There, standing before everyone was a green, female ogre wearing a crown, just like the crown that had been put on his window. Everyone…was stunned and applauded the magnificent looking art piece that stood before them. To them, it was brilliant, it was magical, and it was just the foil that Slaggathor needed.
Akshay grinned wide and proud.
“Everyone! Meet…Princess Celeste! Royal Highness of the Underdwellers!” he chuckled as people applauded in awe. “Come on in to get your free, one sheet issue. And then keep an eye out for the next issue of Slaggathor for Princess Celeste’s debut!!”
With a wave, Akshay invited people to step into his store. It would turn out to be the best sales day he had ever had yet…

>> "I'll be keeping it for now…Ya'll get it back once the videos are gone. I can't let you take pictures or videos of anything around here. It puts people in danger, and it's nobody's f*** business anyway."
Akshay’s pose deflated a little. Wow, that language was a bit harsh wasn’t it? And hey, she was taking his phone! That was not cool. If she had said that she did not want any of this to be recorded or photographed, all she needed to have done was tell him when they first walked into this Danger Room. Instead she waits until after, when he is already bitten by a rogue vampire, and bruised from his encounter. It was like she was trying to kill him the whole time and just didn’t want any witnesses or evidence about it.
…nah, she couldn’t be that diabolical. It was probably just his imagination. Still though, her tone was a little combative, wasn’t it? All he wanted to do was snap a few shots, upload it onto his computer, and post it for the entire world to see. Didn’t seem like that big of an issue.
>> "So, if you want everyone to be safe and happy, including Emerald, you'd better not blog your little heart out about this place. I showed you trust because you are a mutant and because of her, do not make me regret it."
Okay so maybe it was a big issue. Akshay didn’t think that Emerald would get hurt but…wait a minute…why would she get hurt with him blogging about this place. It is not as if Emerald actually knew about this mansion, surely she would have told him or given him the tour herself if she did…right? Akshay shook the thoughts away as he follow Maya out of the room.
“Hey, wait,” he said as he caught up to her. “Why would Emerald be in any danger? She’s never been here…has she? Do…Do you know Emerald?”
