The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "I'm Chrysanthemum…but it could be easier to just call me Chrys!"
Chrysanthemum. Akshay had to admit that that had to be the most unusual and yet beautiful name that he had ever heard. While such a thing was usually said in order to seduce a woman, for Akshay the case just happened to be true. It was not a line he was trying to drop, but instead it was a true and honest to goodness thought. He had thought about voicing said thought but quickly found out that it would have come off as way too cheesy.
After all, he finally got his chance to be near this interesting and mysterious woman! He really didn’t want to ruin his chances by attempting to come off as some second-hand pick up artist…
>> “And I wouldn't assume so quickly that you're safe... because letting me have my way is more enjoyable."
She leaned in (boy did she lean in!) and Akshay found himself partially frozen. At first all he felt was her breath on his ear and he could have passed out with happiness right there! Instead, though, he grinned as that teasing, whispering voice snaked into his ear canal and tickled just the right nerves. It was easy to see that Akshay was on cloud nine just being around this woman.
She then pulled away but was still close enough for Akshay to grin very stupidly at the scent of whatever perfume she was wearing (if she was wearing one at all!).
>> "I'd ask to dance, but I'm not sure I could keep up with the way that fascinating body moves..."
Akshay smirked a little. She really was adorably cute/sexy. She had a magnificent look about her and she had a body that he was sure anyone would kill to possess. But the way she looked at him, marveling over his dance moves, he could only feel his ego inflate just a tiny bit. Who was he to deny this young woman a dance? Much less, a lesson in dance?
“Aw, Chrys, I’m sure you’re being modest,” he reassured. Just as he did song faded to an end from in speakers. In this place came on the perfect song for instruction. It was had a good beat, wasn’t too fast, and would be perfect for him to seduce teach the young woman. He let the song come on for a few seconds before he offered Chrys his hand. “Come on. I’m sure I can teach you a thing or two.”

Akshay was indeed going to head for the girl who eyed him so hungrily from before. But a problem arose. Well, more three problems arose. The three women who formed a protective wall barring him from any other women, stood strong and united as they fawned over his dancing skills and even attempted to proposition children out of him. Akshay wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about most of that, but hey, the three blonde women were pretty hot. Then again, that brunette, she was just so mysterious and tantalizing.
“Um, ladies—“ he attempted to say as he felt one reach out just a bit too far and graze something that DEFINITELY didn’t belong to her! That was not to say he wasn’t attracted to a bold woman but damn!
He attempted to calm the trio down when he looked up to see the brunette advance towards him. Maybe he willed her help, maybe she wanted to stake her claim, whatever the case she proceeded to push past the gathered women with a large smirk on her face.
Akshay was instantly captivated…
>> "Sweetie! You were sooo cool! The most awesome thing on the dance floor!"
He. Blinked. What could he possibly do? His only options were to either deny this idea and possibly both offend and lose the mysterious brunette, or he could go with it! In the split second it took to decide, Akshay slipped into the role of the embarrassed boyfriend.
“D’aww…thanks…babe…” he managed to squeak out. He really was no good at last minute pet names.
>> “Oh? New friends? That's nice."
The trio looked a combination of disturbed, irritated, and shocked at the recent turn of events. They could have all sworn that they had seen the magnificent dancer come into the bar alone and not with any girl in toe. But judging by how the two of them were reacting, they could see that they were at a loss in the situation.
>> "But I was really hoping that after another dance or two, we could go back home, so I could get nice and comfy..."
One of the trio huffed and walked away without a word, the other glared daggers into the brunette when she turned and called them “new friends” before slinking away, and the last stood there, gawking for a moment. It took a second but once the brunette had turned her back to her, the blonde raised her hand to her ear (mimicking a phone) and whispered in a breathless voice, “Call Me!” before dashing away to join her sisters.
Akshay was saved!
…from a trio of lovely blondes that wanted to rip his close off.
…
Ahem.
He turned his full attention back to the brunette that had her arms wrapped around him. When he was sure that the blondes were really gone, he grinned a little stupidly as he looked down to the slightly shorter woman.
“Hah, thanks for the save, beautiful,” he beamed. “If you hadn’t come along they might have, um, I-I guess ripped me apart and had their way with me?” Akshay tried to remember why that was a bad thing but instead of arguing with himself, he kept his attention fully on the brunette. “I’m Akshay!”

Akshay had to dance floor. That was not to say that the guy who danced with him wasn’t good, he was quite good, but Akshay was better. Each movement and step was calculated to the point that the young wordsmith looked as if he was made of several, separate moving parts rather than being a single being. It was an effect that he loved to display because of how much control that it took. On top of that, it was just plain fun! The looks on people’s faces as they danced was absolutely priceless and Akshay couldn’t help holding them all in the palm of his hand.
Yeah, his opponent was good. Akshay was simply the better man.
Women swooned, whistled, men had to nod in admiration, some just looked at him with jealous eyes, it was all so wonderful. Though his break up with Emerald had been a hard one, Akshay always felt better when he was out dancing. There was just something about the movements that allowed him to shun those thoughts away. It was very…cathartic.
The song wound down, so did Akshay. It was during this time that he looked up, finally, to see what had to an extremely gorgeous woman in black slinking nearby. Normally this would have only garnered a pause of acknowledgement. But before he could look away he locked in on her eyes.
Mmmm, rawr, her eyes said.
(and Akshay was fluent in eye speech!)
Akshay only momentarily forgot himself as the song neared the end, eyeing the same woman with a silly grin on his face. He didn’t know what it was about her; of course she was attractive but there was something else about her--a sense of the danger maybe. Either why, Akshay really couldn’t take his eyes off of her as he continued to last of his dance, finally winding down enough to end in a rather epic pose with his new found dance partner.
The crowd cheered, they clapped, and Akshay muttered his thanks. Adjusting his jacket and running his fingers lightly through his hair to tousle it up a bit (to look dangerous himself), he stepped towards the eye-speaking woman and put on his best smile. Yeah he had just gone through a break up, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t make a new friend, right?
He was a mere few feet from the intriguing woman when—
“O-M-G! Like, you’re SO hawt!”
“You dance like AWESOME!”
“Have my dancing babies!!”
Akshay suddenly found his way barred by a trio of blondes (who all surprisingly looked alike), wearing the exact same extremely short, neon pink dress that left absolutely little to the imagination. Apparently he was looking at triplets; club hopping triplets; very loud club hopping triplets…

Akshay. Was. Back.
Ever since his last outing with Jean, Lexi, and Rebecca, Akshay had slowly begun to get back into his normal routine. Yes it was sad that his relationship of so many months had stopped but at the same time, he couldn’t let that stop his life all together. There was still so much to do, to see, to dance! Why was he going to curl up into a ball and rot away inside of his apartment when there were still so many other good things in the world? Sure, he was sad Emerald was gone, but at the same time he couldn’t let that stop him from living his life.
And Akshay was a life-livin’ machine!
Assuring Jean and Lexi that he was doing better, he decided to spend the night out by himself. He promised the pair that he wouldn’t be home, crying into a bowl of hot soup and making it cold with his tears. He was living up to that promise.
Tonight was a new club! Akshay had never been to this one before but the buzz about it was pretty good! Good DJs, good drinks, and ever a sexy woman or two strutting about the interior. That was not to say that Akshay was simply out hunting for a woman to seduce, he really was out just to have a good time. But, hey, if a pretty girl came up and started up a conversation, who was he to turn her down?
After all, the man wasn’t made of stone!
An new, energetic song filtered in through the speakers. Akshay tilted his head to side, grinning a bit to himself as he began to slip into his next dance mode. People around him, sexy clad women, men in clothes FAR too tight, nervous women, overly-confident men, they all began to pull away from Akshay. Having already seen him dance once, they knew that not only space was needed, but they wanted to enjoy the show and not be outshined by this obvious dancing star.
The song pumping him, Akshay tilted his head down low and felt the presence some brave soul come up to join him. Apparently this person not only wanted to participate, but he wanted to be a part of the dance battle. Akshay was fine with that.
“Mind?” his new dance partner asked.
Akshay just grinned and didn’t look at the dark skinned man with the gray sweatshirt and black jeans. “Only if you can’t keep up.”
The call to battle had been rung. Before the audience knew it, the dance started, Akshay leading with cool, subtle, and very calculated moves. Quickly it evolved into an impressive array of his skill, marveling the audience around him who gasped and grinned as the lithe and limber young Indian man danced to his heart’s content. It would be a battle easily won…

((OOC: Sorry for the LOOOONG wait! I finally managed to dredge up a little Akshay muse!))
>> "Hard name…Me like simple."
Akshay nodded. Of course the creature would. Most goblin-speech was just simplied grunts, growls, vowels, etc. Human speech would be difficult for them. But he had to be curious about that. The name he had given was purely goblin so why would he have trouble pronouncing it? Hmm, maybe Akshay just didn’t pronounce it correctly. His goblin-speech was so absolutely rusty.
>> "Why honored?"
The little goblin had a right to wonder. After all, he was probably separated from most human customs that he would have to ask the simple questions. Why should Akshay be honored to meet him? Well, he couldn’t really tell him the truth could him? That he had always wanted to meet a real life goblin and yet had never had the opportunity until right now. No, he still had a part to play, he needed to be the knowledgeable wizard and so he couldn’t fawn over the little creature.
Thankfully, before he could think up a painfully obvious lie, Akshay stood back and watched as the creature regarded the female goblin more closely. It was obvious that he wished for “his kind” to be free from this “spell”. It was to the point that Akshay actually felt a little sorry for the creature. All alone in New York, or so he thought. He really shouldn’t be lying to him but the last thing he wanted was an angry goblin running rampant in his shop.
Nice big hole your digging yourself in, Akshay. Dumb***…
>> "Have friends? Ask them help."
And the spider web of lies shall continue.
“Oh, uh, I’d really love to. I would,” Akshay nodded. “But my friends are not wizards like me. They don’t know magic. And, those that do, well, they don’t have the power to free them. Not until I do more research anyways.” He looked solemnly at the creatures in his case, as if they were old friends he would never see walking and talking again. “But, rest assured, they are safe here. No one bothers them, no one can steal them,” he assured Guglin. “I can keep them safe until they can be free. And, you know, if you wanted, you can visit them whenever you like.”

Akshay needed to do something. He needed to do something to get his mind off the fact that he was painfully single again. Weeks had passed since the break up and, though it was still painful to think about, he found out that if he just kept busy it tended to fend off the bad feelings. So, that was what he was doing. He was healing, he knew he was, but it was still going to be pretty tough to get used to the fact of how alone his apartment now felt. Which was precisely why he wasn’t in his apartment at the moment!
There was only one cure for the blues. And that was nerd stuff!
Necronomi-Con!! It was that time of the year again. The premiere event in all of nerdom (besides Comic-Con, Blizz-Con, Anime-Con, E3, etc.). Necronomi-Con started out as a more horror/fantasy based convention but it quickly fell the to the level that ever Con did and encompassed more than its original intention ever was. Now, comic books, movies, video games, animes, everything was allowed to have booths here to peddle wears and let fans know exactly what was coming up.
Akshay…was in heaven. And, he decided to go in a costume that was a little more out of the box and unknown than he normally did. Today, he was going to dig into his roots and dress as the main character of one of his favorite Indian sci-fi films, Ra.One! He knew that only true fans would know exactly what his costume was of. And to those people he would bestow friendship.
He sighed as he strolled through the large convention hall, a bag of swag already in one of his hands as he happily looked from left to right. He was getting odd, yet impressed, looks from people. So few knew what he was dressed as, but apparently they liked the attention to detail! That had to be a plus, right? Slipping into the film section of the hall, he peered around for anything that looked interesting or that might catch his attention.
Just the smell of this place (that of Cheetos and diet sodas and pimple cream) was enough to lift his spirits just a tiny bit. Akshay had been having a tough time but he was managing. Jean and Lexi were doing what they could to help but in the end, it had to be Akshay who wanted to change. They couldn’t do it for him. And this conversation was just one more step to helping him feel better.
Strolling down the aisle, Akshay’s black leather suit molded to him perfectly while the blue lines of “energy” shined very realistically. He definitely paid a pretty penny to get this costume up to par with what he had seen in the movie so many times. Oh yeah, he was the king of nerds today.
And best thing yet, there was absolutely no woman around that he was attracted too…

A Hole In the Wall – Night Club
Akshay sighed. It was not just any sigh though. It was not of boredom or sadness or disappointment; it was a sigh of unknown definition and that was what made it the scariest of all. Standing at the bar, the neon lights flashing at all sides, the smell of perfume, cologne, and alcohol stung the air, the music pounded in his ears, but none of it seemed to stir the normally happy individual. Instead, they all seemed to pass by his attention, unnoticed, as he leaned against the counter and stared down opening of his bottle of Heineken.
The scent of the alcohol wafted up, tickled his nose, but still he was not in too much of a hurry to down it. Surprising considering that the whole purpose of this evening was to have fun.
“Yo Akshay, why aren’t you on the dance floor?” Jean asked off to his side. Already his slightly younger friend looked exhausted from all his dancing.
Lexi, another co-worker, (and dressed in so provocative a manner that she displayed every bit of her bountiful bosom) nudged Akshay with her hip from the opposite side. “Come on! We brought you out to party. Seems like it has been forever.”
“Ten months,” Akshay responded as he finally picked up that green bottle in front of him and took a sip.
Both Jean and Lexi glanced at one another, a little at a loss for what to say next. Akshay knew that they were trying, but dealing with the break-up of a ten-month relationship was definitely not something that could easily be gotten over. They had hoped, he assumed, by taking him back out to his old haunts that he would get snap out of his mood. Unfortunately, Akshay was onto their tricks and schemes (not really schemes. They were sweethearts to try.). On top of that, though, he just didn’t feel the old spark anymore.
Tends to happen after so drastic a change to one’s life.
Jean sighed as he looked back over to dance floor. The redheaded newbie worker, the one with the cute accent was out there, dancing with a brunette that had glittery bug wings. Rebecca had decided that she would join them too since she felt bad about the end of Akshay's relationship. She wanted to be there with moral support and brought her girlfriend along with her. They were a cute couple. But Jean wasn't exactly sure how seeing a successful relationship was going to help Akshay. But, they were having fun on the dance floor and he let them be. He turned back to his old friend with a sigh.
“You know, buddy, I know it’s hard,” he said with a nod. “After Lexi broke my heart 3 years ago—“
“Gawd, are you STILL bitching about that?” Lexi said with a massive roll of her eyes. She downed another shot as she smoothed out her dress a little.
“Whatever,” Jean said before turning his attentions back to Akshay. “The POINT is, I know it hurts. But…it’ll get better. It just takes time. And nothing helps that better than having a good night with your old friends.”
Lexi grumbled about Jean but nodded as she patted Akshay’s back. “Exactly. What you need a few good drinks, some dancing, and then chase around some skirt around! It’ll make you forget your troubles!”
Akshay, still looking at the light reflected through the green glass of his bottle sighed a bit. He didn’t want to talk about the break up, but he didn’t really want to be out tonight either. But he had a nagging suspicion that if he didn’t do one or the other that nothing good was going to come from this evening. Both Lexi and Jean could be persuasive when they wanted to and, right now, he didn’t want to risk it.
“Akshay,” Jean said after the pause began to grow uncomfortably quiet.
But, before he could talk, Akshay suddenly sat upright, downed the last of his bottle of beer in one gulp (which is impressive since most of it was still left) and stood away from the stool. Reaching out, he took Lexi’s hand and dragged her towards the dance floor.
Lexi, protesting, grumbled a bit but still followed.
“Akshay, you’re not getting in my pants,” she said with an arched brow.
Akshay rolled his eyes.
“Lexi, get over yourself,” Akshay said with slight irritation. “I wouldn’t dream of that. But, you guys want me to dance, right? Well we doing this or not?”
The dance floor grew quiet for a second as the DJ switched tracks. As soon as the next beat began to start, Akshay was already moving into position. Before long, as the beat took over, he began to dance as if he hadn’t danced in months.
Immediately the dance floor began to maneuver away from him, opening up to allow both him, Lexi, and Jean room to dance along with the beats. Lexi did her best to keep up with the precise and functional movements that Akshay danced with, while Jean quickly gave up, grabbed a nearby dance partner and began to dance with her. As the music poured into his ears and was matched in the repetition of his arms, legs, and entire body, Akshay looked for a second almost as if he became one with the music. Before long, as the track began to die down, Akshay slowed into a finish and sighed.
Glancing up, Lexi laughed and applauded him while several other sexy young things in even shorter dresses giggled and crept up closer to get to know more about this mysterious dancer. Akshay, though, did not offer much in return. He gave them all a respectful nod and return to the bar.
After flagging down the bartender, he ordered one more Heineken and resumed staring into the green glass, leaving Lexi and Jean to dance alone, while they eye him from afar. They saw the spark there, on the dance floor, even if it was only for a second. Eventually Akshay would return to himself…they just had to wait and be patient.

>> “Aw, Akshay,..Thank you!”
He beamed. He was glad that she liked the idea of it being a gift. Honestly, he just didn’t feel comfortable making an old friend, especially one as good as Alma, pay for something like this. After they had been separated for so long, he must have owed her years and years of birthday presents, congratulation gifts, etc., it was the least that he could do! Actually, the least that he could have done was allow her a free comic of her choice in the shop! But hey, he is still trying to make a living here.
She flipped through a couple of quick pages and Akshay smirked. He wondered what she thought of it already, but he wasn’t going to pester her. She would eventually tell him, if she had decided to stay after all.
He could always give her his business card! That way she at least had a way of contacting him! But just as he was thinking these thoughts, he paused when he turned to see the expression on Alma’s face. She suddenly seemed…unsure. In her voice, and words, that thought was proven…
>> “Are you sure? I wouldn’t mind paying for it—It’s very well-drawn.”
The wordsmith chuckled heartily as he shook his head.
“Haha, well, if it makes you feel any better, we can say that your flattery earned it,” he winked slyly. If anything Akshay was pretty susceptible to nice compliments, but in all honesty, he really just wanted to do something nice for a friend. Alma was as close to a real friend as he had back when he was a kid in foster care. The least he could do was show his appreciation in some way. “Seriously, keep it,” he said with a firm nod. “That way, if you ever have to skip town, you have something to remember me by.”
Leaning back, he waited a bit for Alma to finish looking over the comic before he finally decided that she was still a customer. Obviously she came in here for her own likes, and probably had her own series that she liked to follow, so he still needed to treat her as a patron. It was weird, though, treating someone you’ve known since forever as just an everyday customer.
He smiled broadly and stepped away for a moment. As he approached his desk, he leaned over the counter, almost comically so since he seemed too lazy to walk around through the opening, and pulled out a business card from the stash he had back there. Once he fished it out, he quickly jotted down his cell phone number and returned to Alma, brandishing it as if it were extremely valuable.
“Here,” he said with a nod and handed over his card. “That way, if one of us disappears again, we can stay in contact this time…you know, if you want…”

>> “Well, before today, I didn’t know you had a comic—show me, show me.”
“Of course! This way!” he beamed as he turned to lead her down the length of the comic shelves to where he usually kept his comic books up. Being a little biased, he always tended to set them up in the featured section.
Akshay was just loving this. Meeting up with an old friend, getting to know one another again and sharing such triumphs with one another. He did notice that she was being rather secretive about herself but he was not going to say anything on the matter. If she didn’t want to talk, that was fine! He was not going to make her.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t wear her down a bit until she eventually began to reveal just a little more about herself. There was so much that they missed out on in their lives that it was only right that they get to learn a little more.
But, all in due time…
>> “Are you in the indie scene?”
He nodded enthusiastically.
“Yeah, so far I still haven’t heard from the Big Three, but it’s all good! I like being indie; I get to meet more fans up close and I pretty much get to set my own deadlines.” he nodded as he stirred her towards a fantasy looking comic with a fiery redhead print on the glossy cover. “This…is my baby…’Slaggathor’” he said as he presented her with a comic. “And, since you know the artist, you get to keep that issue for free.”

Akshay could say nothing. Of course all he could do was just stand there as he watched this marvel of an experience occur in front of him. He was witnessing something that probably his old Monster and Mazes crew from college would have give their right arm to be a part of; he was watching a real goblin standing in his comic shop and talking to another creature. It was such a surreal sight that Akshay had to keep pinching himself to try and make sure he was awake.
The creature was so magnificent that he had to try and keep himself from fawning all over it. He needed to gain the little monster’s trust first. So far he seemed like he was gaining some of that but he really didn’t know how long it would last.
>> "Her name?"
Akshay paused. He didn’t look like he was at a loss for words, but the man was. He tried to keep that fact hidden from the goblin since he didn’t want to let on that he was making all this up. But, finally, he managed to pull some name from some past game he played or book he read…
“Edmée,” he said with a nod and smile. “Her name is Edmée.”
>> "My is Guglin."
Akshay beamed and nodded to the beast. So it did have a name. Of course it did, but, Akshay really didn’t know what to expect here. In all the fantasy books, movies, and comics, creatures like Guglin had names. But would that also apply to reality? He just didn’t know and had to keep playing this situation by ear.
“I’m honored to meet you, Guglin,” Akshay gave a tiny bow.
>> "Is stone?"
He shot up. Apparently the goblin had been inspecting the statue that Akshay had shown him. He had to admit that if he were a primitive creature, he probably would have assumed that the statue was stone too. In reality it was diecast metal. It was not a shiny as metal, so it was easy to assume that it was something like stone.
So he shook his head in response and tried to weave his storytelling even more.
“No, she has been turned to metal,” he said with a nod. “That is why the spell is so powerful. Hard to get past. But…one day, one day I’ll be able to break her free.”

>> “Definitely…Perhaps we could get some coffee, some time?”
Akshay was ecstatic! There was absolutely nothing more that he wanted then reconnecting with his old best friend. Though they didn’t know each other for the entirety of their lives, they had still formed a strong enough connection that just being in her presence again made him giddy. Not that he was attracted to her (even though she was rather pretty), but she was a friend from his past, a part of his life that he barely connected with anymore.
Sometimes it was good to have a reminder from where you came from. Akshay was only too happy to have Alma back in his life, for however long she managed to stay this time.
>> “Or, you know—something…I don’t know too many good places to eat around here.”
He nodded enthusiastically!
“Of course! I know the best burger joints in town!” he beamed. “But if that doesn’t catch your fancy, I know plenty of other places too. Just…so good to see you.”
Akshay grinned as he suddenly hugged her again. There was something to be said about hugging someone from your past, one of the only people to ever make your past worthwhile. He happy to have her back and hoped that she would stay.
A smirked crossed his lips, though, as he leaned away from the hug and eyed her closely.
“So, PLEASE tell me…you ‘re going to start reading my own comic,” he said with a grin. “Otherwise, I may have to disown you.”

>> “You first.”
Akshay could tell the little goblin was suspicious of him. Who could blame him? Surrounded in a world of giants; his only brethren encased in plastic (insert awkward shifty eyed look); and standing before a powerful magician, of course the little creature would feel suspicion and disbelief. Akshay was not sure if maybe the goblin would ever fully trust him, but hopefully he could entertain the creature enough to at least not view him as an enemy any longer.
He was going to have to work hard for his trust, he knew that now.
The creature made him go first. Akshay was only too happy to oblige in order to show that everything he said and did was purely in good faith.
Nodding, he stepped forward, slowly and with no sudden movements since he knew that the little creature was watching him closely. As he approached the case, Akshay rolled up his sleeve and, very slowly, reached into the interior. Normally at this point he would have screamed and pretended his arm was being eaten in order to cut down on the tension. But, it was swiftly becoming aware that this creature distrusted him greatly. Freaking him out was more than likely not the best course of action.
Breath held, Akshay slowly reached out and picked up the largest statue, one that was close to the goblin’s size. It was hefty but still easily able to be lifted. The statue was of another goblin, but only of about half the size of the one that was actually living and breathing next to him. With care he lifted it and placed it on the counter in front of the living goblin.
The statue was well taken care of (Akshay always took care of his collectables). It was free of dust, shimmery from being wiped down with fine oils to preserve it, and not a single crack or missing piece could be found. This statuette was one of Akshay’s favorites, and now he was using it cast lie upon lie to earn the trust of its living brother.
He carefully presented the statue to the goblin and smiled warmly as he stepped back, letting the goblin look it over at his own accord.
“I do my best to take care of her, of all of them,” he said gently. “Until I can break the spell, of course. Go ahead and take a look,” he said as he gestured to the statue. “You can talk to them all you like. They like being spoken to.”

>> "Ackashey."
Hmm, yes, a goblin would have difficulty pronouncing his name. Goblins always had a hard time since they normally sounded like they were struggling with the human tongue. Though they obviously knew the merit of speaking it, they preferred to hold onto their own heritage and speak their own language. It was only in time of devilry or necessity that they deemed it wise to speak in the common tongues.
( Or, at least that is what he believed. He read a lot of comics and fantasy novels so that was what he was able to gather. That is not to say that is exactly how real goblins acted. He would have to find out by studying this creature’s habits.)
Anyways, he returned from his thoughts and regarded the creature closely. He was standing there, in awe at the power that he had displayed. In all honesty, in this city, his powers were really not the most impressive when compared to other mutants. But it seemed to do the trick for the little creature.
Maybe he could earn his trust just yet.
It was only when he was locking eyes with the goblin that it finally made a request. A request that would deem whether or not Akshay could be trusted…
>> "If you friend…Free them."
Akshay tilted his head. At first he was confused since he didn’t know what the goblin was referring too. Free who? Maybe the goblin was referring to himself and wanted to be released back out into the world? It was entirely possible because it was obvious that the creature was confused as to what was going on. Maybe he thought he was trapped inside of the room with the self-proclaimed “wizard”?
But he remembered back to what he saw earlier—the creature was talking to his glass case. To the other miniature monsters and figurines within! The picture began to paint itself that the green humanoid probably thought that if Akshay was a wizard, that he had cast a spell on his miniature brethren. The young wordsmith figured that he would have to play with this idea in order to further gain the creature’s trust.
“I…can’t,” he said with a heavy heart. “They…are under a spell I cannot break. So, I keep them here. Safe, inside my stor—err, my temple. At least here, I can protect them. Until, you know, until I can find a cure.” But, to show that he was not truly evil or mean, he walked over, slowly, and produced a key from his pocket. Carefully he unlocked the display case for the goblin and nodded to it. “Go ahead. You can check them yourself…”

>> "You wizard?"
Common speech! Duh! Of course the little goblin would be able to speak common speech. More than likely he would have to make a lot of dealings with humans so he would need to be able to communicate with them. Whether as guides, to thieve from them, or something more nefarious, it would be important for goblins to know how to speak to a human.
Unfortunately, it never came into Akshay’s mind that this creature was a mutant. All he saw was a lost goblin that needed help getting back to his own realm of fantasy and magic. Maybe Akshay would even be permitted to visit! Now THAT would be an adventure!
He paused though as he actually tried to focus on what the creature had said. As it stood there, above his glass case, Akshay thought back over the words, was he a wizard? To be honest it would have been rather easy to correct the goblin, but maybe that was not the best decision. Goblins, depending on the mythos, didn’t always trust humans. They were creatures for goblins to fear and/or loathe because of their superior size and stature.
Goblins, though, were supposed to natural fear those of a more magical nature. That was power even they could not wield. Hmm…maybe there was nothing wrong with a little roleplaying?
Yeah, he would have to put on his best commanding speech to earn the little goblin’s trust.
Ahem…
“Ah, so you speak the common tongue,” Akshay said approvingly. “Good. Goblin tongue hurts my throat.” he sighed as he took a cautious step forward, never letting his gaze fall from the creature. “My name is Akshay…and yes, I am a wizard. One of the most powerful, actually.”
His mind raced as he tried to think of a way to prove his true power. He didn’t know exactly what experience the goblin had in this world, or what he may have already considered as feats of human science. So maybe, he would have to show him something that was beyond that realm, something that was more…mutant related…
He closed his eyes. The hairs at the back of his neck lifted and slowly he began to tap into the power that he was normally so scared of. It was like relaxing a muscle; his entire body felt looser as he calmed himself and opened his eyes, looking at the creature again. He smiled, in a most benevolent way and opened his mouth to talk. He would demonstrate his great powers to the little goblin.
“I am powerful. I breathe life into the very words I speak,” he said. Just as he did so, the words “life” and “words” began to flutter to life in the air between them. The white letters lined in thick black, shimmered and sparked with an iridescence that rivaled the brightest hummingbird’s wings. Carefully he reached out and plucked the two words from the air. He smiled as he walked over and very gently set them on the counter, but still keeping his distance from the goblin as to not startle him. “I am your friend…”
Again, once the word “friend” had fully come to life, he also set that down with the others. Hopefully the goblin would trust that he was not a threat to him.
