The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "No, but I love comics! I just usually get them delivered because daddy thinks they're a silly waste of time."
Oh yesssssss…. Akshay beamed inwardly. He knew that he had hit the jackpot. Not only was his woman sexy, mysterious, and a joy to be around, but she was also a comic fan!! What corner of heaven did she fall from? And curse him for just NOW finding her! He was definitely going to have to make up for lost time with her.
At least he hoped that she liked him enough to want to see him again. He would be able to tell once the night was through.
>> "I'll definitely have to visit,"
She leaned in a little closer when she said that. And in her voice aws such a lightness that Akshay found himself intrigued. Maybe she really did like him and this was not just a case of slumming for a single night for her. The thought made him grin.
“You should, Chrys,” he nodded. “The owner will definitely give you the V.I.P. treatment. I know because, heh, the owner just happens to be standing in front of you.”
He beamed wide. Women like men who owned their own, successful businesses didn’t they? What woman could possible resist it?

>> "I think you've got me figured out then."
Akshay had to grin. He liked to pride himself as somewhat was a people reader; he liked the idea that he could look at someone and be able to glean some bit of information, whether they meant to or not. Having people watched for so long, it was no wonder that Akshay prided himself in being able to do this. He liked people, he liked watching them go about their days. It was because of this that he hoped he was able to learn something about this mysterious young woman.
He got something from her. What it was, he didn’t know though. She was interesting, to say the least, and he figured that there was more about her than she was letting on. But he was not going to press her to talk. With the way things were going tonight, he should surely be able to find something about her.
Only time would tell.
Their drinks arrived, and Akshay beamed as Chrys took a sip of her own. The satisfaction on her face only made his smile broaden.
>> "If you mean to town, I'm a New York girl through and through… Mmm. As for this club, I've only been once or twice. Normally I end up being dragged to upscale clubs by my other rich friends, so it's nice to come to a place like this sometimes."
Rich friends? Akshay didn’t pause long on the words. In all honesty, that could mean anything. Sometimes just having a friend who made a little bit more money than you could be classified as that. Akshay knew at least one or two friends like that when he was working his way through art school. He wondered is maybe Chrsy was in that same boat?
In all honesty, though, he was not interested in the woman’s friends. Though it seemed like they knew how to have a good time! Upscale clubs, they were…okay. Akshay and his friends had only been able to crash one or two, but they were really nothing special to write home about. Expensive drinks, popular music, maybe one or two people on a wooden dance floor who attempted to dance. It was funny most of the time.
Nah, to get the real clubbing experience, one had to slum. It was really the only way to live.
>> “I certainly don't find dancers of your caliber where I normally go."
He smirked and looked utterly innocent as he took a sip of his beer.
“What can I say?” he grinned. “I’m an original.”
That probably wasn’t true. Akshay knew that there were better dancers out in the world. People who have spent their entire lives training, practicing, working to make their dancing seen by the world! But Akshay had no interest in that. He loved to dance, but it was purely for his own enjoyment. Nothing else. Well…maybe to impress sexy young ladies too.
“You should come around more often,” he smiled brightly. “My friends and I always come here. We all work together just down the street, at the comic shop around the corner? One Comic to Rule Them All? Heard of it?”
That, of course, was the final test. Though maybe he shouldn’t have played the comic geek card so early, Akshay had to try. If she was a comic fan, or tolerated it, then SCORE! If not, well, there were plenty of other ladies on the dance floor.

>> "Research... Your research?"
Akshay tilted his head. He had hoped that he had given the small goblin enough information so that he would finally trust him to leave the statues alone. Akshay was sad that he had lied so much to the little goblin but at the same time he knew that he really had no other choice. The creature was lost in this world and if he knew that there the wordsmith was little more than a comic shop owner and a goof, well, he may want to leave and never return!
Of course he couldn’t have that.
He looked up, though, at his comics that Gugin seemed so interested in. Obviously he was confusing the books of entertainment for something that he would able to glean knowledge from. Akshay hated to burst his bubble and tell the little creature that he was wrong, so Akshay simply nodded to go along with the idea.
>> "Me will visit."
To this, of course he smiled! Akshay had managed to get a little goblin to take interest in his and continue to visit him after this encounter! He knew that such a promise was rare among goblin-kind, since they tended to be more scavengers and detested hanging around humans for too long. But, this little one definitely seemed like he wanted to come back
And…was that a smile? Akshay smiled back in response! This was awesome news!
He nodded as he plucked out one of his “research” books and handed it down to the goblin to thumb through if he so chose. It was a rather basic comic, laminated cover, brightly colored heroes, big blocky letters, filled with the stories of heroism. Obviously it had nothing to do with magic but maybe Guglin would find it interesting.
“I’m glad you will come back,” Akshay grinned wide with joy. He thought a moment before he snapped his fingers. “OH! How’s about I give you a gift? Just, ugh wait right there!”
Akshay dashed into the backroom. He figured that the best way that he could win and keep the goblin’s friendship was to prove that he was trustworthy by offering him a present. Akshay doubted that Guglin would be able to return to his own world. If he had to go out into the world again, it would probably be best if he could defend himself. By offering him protection, Akshay would prove his friendship.
After digging through one his chests in his back room, Akshay beamed once he found what he was looking for. Returning to the room in which he left Guglin, he grinned as he slowly walked up, knelt down near the creature and held out a replica sword and sheath from one of his favorite movies. It really was made out of steel and was a pretty good reproduction. But Akshay felt good parting with it, knowing it would help his goblin friend (since it was exactly his size!!).
“Here, Guglin. The world can be dangerous. This can keep you safe.”

“There’s no answer,” Jean said once Akshay had appeared on his side.
“Shocking,” Akshay responded with a bit of mock annoyance. “How dare an establishment that normally operates in the late night hours be closed at one in the afternoon.”
Jean rolled his eyes but didn’t respond. Akshay knew that he was being snippy with his friend but he just couldn’t help it. It seemed that ever since this ordeal befell him, he hadn’t really been in his right head. He was moody, hungry, and needed to use the restroom far more than he would ever like to admit. But the wordsmith knew that he was just going to have to grit his teeth and bear with it. He needed Jean right now; he needed him to help him figure out exactly what had happened to him last night.
There was a clue somewhere, there had to be.
“Nothing man. I don’t think that anyone is here,” Jean said with a grumble as he turned to eye the door.
Akshay shook his head. There had to be someone there, someone who could tell them what was going on. He knew that many times the owners had apartments, sleeping quarters, something that was directly above the establishment. Maybe they just couldn’t hear him and Jean? That had to be his only hope.
“Come on,” Akshay said as he walked away from the door and turned the corner into the alley.
“What? Akshay! What’re you doing?”
Jean jogged after his friend, turned the corner into the dark and dank alley and found the man scooping up tiny bits of brick and debris from the ground. Before he could ask him what he was going to do with it, Akshay hurled the items at a second floor window of the bar that looked down over the alley. The rocks flew and rebounded off the glass harmless enough but making sure to make a TINK! sound whenever they collided.

A Hole in the Wall
Jean sighed as he pulled his car up to the curb next to the club. It was Akshay’s favorite hangout, and the one that both he and Jean had managed to occupy last night. Now, they were returning to the scene of a crime! A crime against nature! A crime in which a dude was given a womb! (Or so Akshay thought). The beat up blue Dodge Challenger rumbled into silence once Jean had switched the ignition off. Akshay looked across to him and Jean could only shake his head.
“Really? You have to bring the Cheeto ice cream with you?”
“Hey, I’m eating for two.” Akshay grumbled as he continued to scoop up any remnants of the ice cream he found at the bottom of the container.
Jean started at Akshay. After a moment, the comic book colleague simply shook his head.
“Yeah. Still creepy to hear you say that,” he announced as he opened his car door and slid out.
Akshay looked up in confusion. Once he saw Jean gone, Akshay sighed and started to unbuckle his belt. His bulbous stomach simply seemed to impede his movements, no matter where he went or what he did. He grumbled, sighed, stretched, and finally managed to unbuckle his belt, but not without a angry kick from the disturbed individual within.
Yeah, the knowledge of that was still creepy to him too.
Shaking his head, he pushed open his door and squeaked as he attempted to pry himself out of the low car. He would make sure to have a discussion with Jean later that the man needed to make sure to always think about his passengers. A good host would have opened the door for him and helped him out, right? Right?
Akshay. Didn’t. Answer.
He didn’t know what was going on but his mind seemed like it was rewiring itself! Whereas before, when he passed a pretty woman on the street, he would take a second to grin and gaze upon them appreciatively. Now all he wanted to do was judge and assume they were some sort of “lady-of-the-evening” for dressing in such a manner.
Shaking his head, he waddled over to rejoin Jean who was knocking on the front door. He hoped and prayed there would be some answer inside.

>> "I am good at identifying my property."
Hehehehe…
“Heh,” Akshay grinned a little stupidly at the remark. Really, what was he to say to that? It was actually pretty hot but he obviously didn’t want to tip his hand just yet. Instead the young man could only keep his smile on his face.
>> "All that learning did leave me kinda thirsty,"
“Then shall we?” he beamed as h showed the way back to the bar. He barely got the words out before two fingers hooked onto his collar and began to lead him away from the dance floor.
What a woman…
Now that the dance battle was over, regular dancers (no longer cowering in fear due to Akshay’s masterful skills,) returned to the dance floor with their own partners and began to dance along to the beat of the next song. Akshay would have been happy to join them, but he had other matters on his mind right…
…very important matters…
…5’1 matters in slinky black outfit…
..ahem…
>> "Thank you,"
Akshay blinked away his confusion when he looked to up see the bartender handing the young woman a credit card. Poor thing! She was lucky she actually had it returned! There were so many people who were never as lucky as all that because credit cards were hardly ever found by honest people. Thankful the young woman seemed to subvert disaster by a kind-hearted and honest barkeep. It was almost like a fairytale.
Then there were hands on his chest.
>> "So can you get me something sweet, you sweetie?"
He beamed! Eager to please and grant her any wish she desired. Not, that, you know, he let that be seen on his features. He was far too cool for that.
“Sure!!” Smooooooooth. He cleared his throat and attempted to take his voice down a couple of octaves as he turned to the bartender. “One Heineken and…” he turned and study Chrysanthemum briefly. “You look like…a San Francisco woman to me.” Again his attention returned to the order at hand. “And on San Francisco.” Once the man that shuffled on start on the drinks, Akshay returned to Chrys’ gaze. “I don’t think I’ve seen you at this club before. You new around here?”

>> "That's silly, Akshay. Why would I hustle you when I've obviously got you where I want you?"
…
Oh yes, Akshay was definitely beginning to like this woman a lot more. Yes she was a complete mystery to him but she was the best kind of mystery! She was sexy, cute, and just had this energy that he couldn’t quite identify. Maybe that was why he was so drawn to her; normally Akshay was pretty good at reading people and while he could pick up on the surface that the woman was hungry for him, there was something else behind her eyes that he just couldn’t identify.
He could only hope that the evening would go well enough for him to find out exactly what it was. He crossed his fingers for such a possibility at least.
“Who says you have me yet?” he beamed innocently. After all, he couldn’t make it THAT easy could he?
A glance at her clothing and the fact that she had practically melded with him while dancing caused him to change his mind though. Yeah. He could afford to be THAT easy tonight. But that didn’t mean he had to play it off like that. Initiate sexy poker face!
The beats of the song dwindled down to the end and Akshay slowed up his dance so that he was more in sync with Chrys’ movements. They were slower, closer, the point that he could feel each of her muscles as she attempted to follow him. He smirked as the song died and he nodded to her.
“You did awesome. I think you earned yourself a drink, on me,” he beamed sweetly. Such a nice guy.

Chrys turned out to really be a good learner! She did her best to keep up with his movements but even though he slowed them down for the lesson, he was still more experienced so the movements came more naturally. Slowly Chrys was learning, she was popping, but she lacked the finesse that he had. He had no doubt though that eventually she would be able to get it. All it really took was practice, practice, and more practice.
Grinning like a fool, the man beamed as he continued his lesson, offering his expertise to the young woman who seemed to take them eagerly. He was really liking this woman’s enthusiasm.
>> "You're like an amazing machine I'd love to take you home and take you apart.”
…
Did he really hear that? Akshay was not 100% sure since the music was so loud but he was fairly certain that he heard something along the lines of a come-on. Would it have been awkward to ask her to repeat herself? She may have just said whatever she said in the heat of the moment, or he could have simply misheard her and therefore would greatly embarrass himself. Nah, he was not going to jeopardize any possibility with this enchanting creature by making a fool of himself.
He smiled in response but made no allusion that he had fully heard what she said. He would pass it up as just the flow of music. Then again, if he didn’t respond and she was attempting to seduce him, he didn’t want her to think that he was jilting her.
And then she pressed back against him…
>> "I'm liking this lesson, though,"
…
Okay yeah, this was a whole new development. A grin on his face, he didn’t over think or want to draw any presumptions, instead he was just going to enjoy the moment. She was dancing in a manner that was similar to many girls he danced with before. The usual sort of club hoppers that liked to tease and press in real close to dancers when they wanted to have a fun evening. So far the evening was turning into a lot of fun.
Slowly his movements down a bit so that he didn’t dislodge her from his body, Akshay still managed to show off some mastery of his skills as he danced along with the music.
“You’re…definitely a lot better than you let on,” he beamed. “I’m beginning to think you’re trying to hustle me.” He laughed softly as he swayed to music.

It was a damn good turnout. Akshay was pleased with everything as he stood behind the counter and began to go through the receipts. Yeah it was still tough now that he alone was the owner, but Akshay was glad the business was finally beginning to turn around a bit. It was less stress off of his shoulders that he knew now that he would be able to make the payment this month so that he could keep the shop. For too long he had been worrying about nearly everything that had to do with his life. With Emerald done, all Akshay had to occupy his mind and time was his store. So he poured his heart and soul into it.
Now that things seemed to be leveling off, it felt much, much better. If he could keep having promotional days like this, sans any incidents, then all should be pretty well!
>> "Vile fiend!Cease your laughter or behold my wrath!"
>> "Does any one want a half melted candy bar? Only four dollars! Four do--hurk!"
>> “What the hell is your problem kid?!”
Akshay dropped his head. Speak of the devil and his minions appear!! Akshay grumbled as he scooted around the counter and quickly sought out the source of the disturbance. He eyed his patrons but no one else seemed to notice anything. They continued on, mulling, shopping, and chatting, with one another. No one seemed to be having any sorts of disputes.
It was not until he turned and spied his young ward, Red Finch, standing defiantly between a duo of evil looking doers and…um…a vending machine?
Akshay blinked, shook his head and boldly stepped forward. He may as well remain in character of the other person was dressed as his supposed sidekick.
“Red Finch!” he said as he nodded to the young boy and the vending machine. “What seems to be the trouble?” In one swift motion he pulled one of his fighting sticks from his boot and pointed it accusingly at the pair of irritated looking villains. “You dare?!”

“Nothing? You SERIOUSLY don’t know NOTHING?!”
Akshay was exasperated as he sat at his kitchen table, squirming from left to right, trying to find a comfortable position. It seemed that whenever he attempted to sit still for too long, all he felt was the weight of his stomach pressing down upon his legs. Not only was it creepy but it was a heavy thing too that was just too weird to stand. He really wanted, whatever it was, to just go away but he knew that the longer he stared at it, the more he realized that it was indeed pregnancy. He didn’t know how, he didn’t know why, but his years of watching sitcoms and all the last minute plot-twist pregnancies that occurred therein pointed to the fact that indeed, he had to be pregnant.
But even though he was coming to terms with his circumstances, it was still just SO hard to believe! It didn’t make any sense and completely change his fabric of space and time. What the hell had happened?
He sighed as he turned to the left side, one hand rest onto his belly, the other using a spoon to mix the contents of his small Ben & Jerry’s ice cream container. Jean, sitting across from him, looked a little disturbed and almost green in the face. When he first walked into the room he was shocked, but now that his shock was wearing off, it began to be replaced with revulsion.
Akshay looked up as he scooped up a bit of the ice cream and eyed the man.
“What?” he asked.
Jean, his mouth covered by his hand, eyed him. “Um…y-you do know what you’re eating right?”
“Yeah. Pistachio ice cream,” he replied as he scooped the spoonful into his mouth.
“Dude! You crumble Flaming Hot Cheetos into that!”
Akshay paused as he was diving his spoon into the container again. He looked up, eyed Jean, and brought out another spoonful of the ice cream mixed with fluorescent orange Cheeto bits. “Yeah? And? Dude I’m hungry and NOTHING is as satisfying as this.”
Jean shook his head as he looked away. “Gawd, man, you’re disgusting.”
“Whatever!” Akshay grumbled as he leaned back, licking his lips and patting his stomach. “Okay, again, what happened? What do you remember?”
Jean took a breath.
“I remember us at the Hole in the Wall. We were dancing, having fun, then I turned around and you disappeared. And, you know, we had quite a few drinks.”
Akshay sighed. It wasn’t just like him to abandon his friend at a club. He would have normally at least told someone that he was leaving or going off with another person. It was just so out of character. Then again, according to Jean, they both had gotten pretty drunk last night. Maybe that was a factor into why he made such a decision as to leave without a word. But still…it felt…wrong…
Thoughtfully Akshay held another spoonful of ice cream near his mouth. He was deep in his musings and didn’t notice that Jean was staring at him, or staring at the Cheeto dusted ice cream. The spoon slide closer and closer to his parting lips when Jean suddenly sat up.
“That’s it, I can’t take it,” he announced. “Come on, Akshay. Let’s go back to the club. Maybe the bartender or one of the waitresses will know. I just…I can’t look at this anymore.”
“Huh? Oh…okay,” Akshay nodded as he attempted to heave himself off his chair. As he did so, he groaned, leaned back and attempted to crack his own back. Why was this thing so damn heavy? He turned to get ready but paused and called to Jean. “Yo, Jean, can I ask you something?”
“Um…sure…”
“Um, d-do these pants work? Like…do they make me look fat?”
Jean blinked. Jean turned. And then Jean left out the door.
“Aw come on buddy! I need validation!!” Akshay shouted as he waddled after Jean.

This couldn’t really be pregnancy, right? It was impossible! He was a DUDE!! He was fairly certain that his body knew that and that it was a very real reality. But it seemed that whenever he tried to rationalize this dilemma as being false, a dream, anything but reality, he felt the damn thing kick! Not only that but it was definitely not going anywhere! The stretch marks on the sides of his stomach were like canyons. The last time he saw something like this was one of his adopted mother’s friends came over for Thanksgiving to visit.
EVERYONE kept asking her to raise her top just enough to see the baby belly. Akshay, a boy of only fifteen was scarred for life when he mom told him to place his hands on the cauldron of flesh to feel “the miracle of life.”
…
Akshay nearly decided to abstain from women at that point. Thankfully one of his dad’s friends, with the perky and cute daughter, came to visit and Akshay was free of his aliment. But this...hah…it was AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BALLPARK!!
Akshay grunted as he lay back on his bed, struggling and fighting this the pair of jeans that simply refused to even button, much less zip up. It seemed that the more his day went on, the more he felt the real gravity of his situation weighing upon him. Set aside the fact that he couldn’t remember a damn thing from last night or that he felt like he had went ten rounds against a koala hopped up two hundred Red Bulls, the real jist of the situation is that a MAN woke up PREGNANT!
He gave a final grunt and just fell back uselessly against the bed. Yeah, there was no way those jeans were getting on. Curse words flying left and right, Akshay managed to move himself onto his two feet again and waddled over to his closet. There had to be something he could wear.
***
“Jean, I don’t care what you are doing…GET…HERE…NOW!!” Akshay yelled to his friend over the phone and slammed it down upon his counter.
Jean was the last person he remembered seeing before...well...remembering nothing the rest of the night. He would know what was going on, he had to...
He managed to find something to wear. As a joke one year, for Halloween he dressed up like MC Hammer. Thank god he still had the pants somewhere in the back of his closet. The stretchy waistband was a godsend to the artists but they bellowed out faaaar too much. Over the brilliant gold of his bottoms, the young wordsmith had managed to find his loosest Spectacular Man t-shirt.
Just looking in the mirror hurt his eyes.
Sitting on his couch, Akshay sighed as he stared into the distance. No matter how hard he tried, he simply couldn’t remember anything from last night. It was almost like he was drugged or something since Akshay knew better than to let himself get completely plastered. He was not stupid enough to do something like that, especially after all the trouble he has been getting into lately. But now, was definitely a whole different breed of trouble.
He sighed and just laid his head back against the sofa. He was tired. Maybe he would take a nap before he heard back from Je—
“…Dammit…” he growled as he slowly squirmed his way off the couch and headed back for the bathroom. This was totally not his day…

Akshay’s mouth tasted like ass. That really was the only reason that the 25 year old wordsmith had begun to stir at all from his slumbers. In the safety of the blackness behind his eyes, Akshay didn’t feel the pain, the soreness, or the weariness that was plaguing his entire body. Instead there was just a comforting deep sleep that he more than embraced as he lay, comfortably on his side. The soft sounds of snoring rolled around his ears, the gentle intake of the cool morning air filled his lung, and all Akshay wanted was to remain in the large, warm cocoon that his blanket and bed had created.
Nah, there was no reason to get up and move about so early in the morning. What time was it, anyways? His internal clock, judging by his tiredness assured him it couldn’t have been more than, what, five am? 6 am? If that were true then why was the light so bright that filtered in from his window? Maybe he should check the time. Just to assure himself it really was as early as he felt it was so that he could nestle into the warmth of his covers before work.
One eye cautioned to open and immediately it was struck by the offensive light of the day. He winced and closed it again. Oh if that would have been enough to check the time, but unfortunately he couldn’t get a good look at his clock—the light was too much.
So, in silence, Akshay mustered his strength all over again. His mouth really was beginning to taste utterly disgusting. Maybe he could get up, brush his teeth real quick, and fall back to sleep in comfort. Comfort was the most important thing to sleep.
But wait…why did his mouth taste so badly? Surely he didn’t eat anything that disgusting last night, did he? Nah last night was just his normal meal of…of…huh. What do you know? He couldn’t remember. Maybe he was fair groggier than he thought. After all, with a night like last night he—hmmm…again, he could recall no details from his evening. This really was beginning to get just a tad strange. Even in his worst nights out drinking and partying, he never forgot so much.
Ah! That’s it! He must have been drinking again. Damn that Jean. He just have taken him out for another night of partying to try and help him through his break up with Emerald. Psh. Akshay was doing much better now. He didn’t need so much attention.
“Yaaaaawn…” he mumbled as he strengthened himself to open his eyes again. He was more than tired but he knew he just couldn’t wait in bed all morning.
Besides…he really needed to…um…go…
A grumble and Akshay pulled the covers slowly off himself while still keeping his eyes closed. He would save that annoyance for the very last. Freeing himself from the clothy prison, the young comic nerd sighed as he attempted to heft himself up into a sitting position.
“Oomph!” he grunted as his attempt only forced him to fall back into his pillows. Eyes widened, though hurting from light, Akshay gasped as he lay exhaustedly on his back. What the hell was that? Why did he feel like there was a bowling ball sitting on him. “What the…?”
Tiredly his hand touched where he felt the most weight, at his stomach. For a few seconds he felt absolutely nothing wrong except a strange mark every now and then on his stomach. He had turned to glance at the clock, 11:30pm?!, just as his hands reached the strangeness. The large…bulbous strangeness that was attached to his stomach.
In a panic, Akshay attempted to bolt up in bed. After an effort or two, he managed to squirm himself backward so that he was finally in a sitting position. It was only then that he looked down and noticed the EXTRA large surprise. His once thin, fit stomach was bloated, bulbous, and extra large. And it kicked! Ugh!

Akshay beamed as he looked across the faces of his promotional day crowd. The group was mingling through his comic store, chuckling and looking over a variety of comics. Today was a good. Akshay was doing much better, the break-up slowly sinking into the back of his mind as something that didn’t require any more thought. He had moved on and it was time for him to get his life back together. Dancing and having fun was one thing, but now was the time to delve into his work! It was time to make “One Comic to Rule Them All!” as successful as it could be.
And success was all he could see.
All around him, people were mulling about, looking through comics, having conversations, debating the merits of very superheroes and villains. It was good to be in his element again. As he moved through the crowd, patting people on the back, answering any questions they may have had he watched as his most enthusiastic worker, Rebecca, carried a box of comics into the back room for storage. She was dressed as tight wearing, elf hero from a video game franchise.
Had to admit that he was surprised she came into work today. Her break up with a certain insect girl had left the redhead shaken for awhile. But she seemed to be bouncing back fairly quickly. That was good.
He turned back around. Akshay himself had actually dressed for the occasion too. He surely did miss his costumes while he was in his funk. He was happy to finally be out of it. Dressed as the impeccable vigilante known only as Blackbird. Black spandex merged to Akshay’s form as he walked around, the blue insignia that blazed across his chest seemed to denote a sense of power that he rarely exhibited on his own, and black mask that sat across the bridge of his nose (held tight with gum paste) masked his eyes with a shade of white. He had to admit that even he looked pretty badass in it!
His fighting sticks safely tucked inside one of his boots, the comic shop owner smirked as he made his rounds before returning to the counter. As he passed by a trio of patrons, he had to mentally roll his eyes. One of them was beginning to stir up stuff.
“Gawd, this shop is so lame,” the overly large man in a Pikachu costume grumbled. “Like, seriously, the workers look nothing like their characters, the comics only go back to 1970, AND they don’t even have a nacho dispenser? What the hell?”
Akshay sighed. Sometimes he was embarrassed to be a nerd…

>> "Sure! Show me how you work!"
Akshay could only grin at the comment. He was getting that particular feeling that this was going to be the start of a beautiful friendship. Not only was the woman gorgeous (she even came onto him!) but had this mysteriousness in her eyes that Akshay just couldn’t penetrate. He had attempted to figure her out but all he received for it was this wall of mysterious. A mystery that he definitely wanted to find the answer to. What was it about her? He got some vibe off the woman, like she was a predator stalking through the jungles of the dance.
Hah! If she was a predator, he had absolutely no problem being the prey. Even now she was looking at him with those hungry eyes. Hell, if he hadn’t had just gone through a break up, he would have said that he was already in love with her.
>> "So could you teach me how you do that arm-poppy thing?"
But there was no use thinking of such things now. They had a dance lesson and he was more than eager to teach her anything that he knew.
He smiled as he watched her attempt to mimic the arm popping that he had been doing during the dance before. He had to admit that she had the right form, she just lacked the technicality of the move. Sadly, in order to teach her, he needed to get up closer. Poor, poor him…
“Hey, you’re pretty good. You just need a little fine tuning,” he smiled. “And you say you can’t keep up.” A grin followed his compliment as he waited for the next beat of the song for the both of them to jump into. “Now, I hope you don’t mind this, but it is the best way to learn.”
Akshay pressed up behind the woman. Not creepily so, but just enough so that her arms could press back against his own (after all, Akshay wasn’t a perv or anything!). Once he got her permission that it was okay for him to be this close he began the lesson.
“Arm popping is simple. It’s all about tension,” he said as he began to flex and manipulate the various muscles throughout his arm that was pressed to hers. “See? Start with the upper palm of her hand, flex it like this, move up to the tricep, the bicep, and finally your shoulder.” As he explained he slowly tensed and loosened the various muscles throughout his arm so that she had something to compare to. They were slow pops at first, just enough so that she could identify where he was moving them. “Once you practice like this, it is just a matter of speeding up and popping with the beat. Like this.” Gently he took her wrists and started to help her move her arms, popping his own at the appropriate times with the music just so that she could see where the correct moments were to do so during the beat.
To outsiders, this probably looked pretty sensual; Akshay holding the woman gently by the arms, her miming his movements if she wanted to. But to Akshay, he really was just explaining this part of the dance. He aided whenever he could, knowing that even if she didn’t get the lesson off the bat, she should be able to at least pick up the basics quickly.
