The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A little quiet time to enjoy the new aspect of his mutation was all Drew had wanted. Of course it still wasn't working right but he was sure that would sort itself out in time. For now he was just pleased to finally have a weapon of his own. Something he could use against those who would use him. It made him very cheerful to think about. However his quiet walk through Central Park was interrupted by the loud strains of some vaguely pop-ish band. Determined not to let this get him down and curious as to the source Drew headed in the direction of the music. One copse of trees later he emerged at the fringes of a large crowd watching a band of some time perform. A flyer on the ground indicated it was a free benefit concert, one of those raise awareness deals, for some nigh extinct animal or another. It wasn't one of the cute ones so he doubted anyone would care too much.
He drew a bit closer to the edge of the crowd when he heard the shouting of his name. It took a minute or two to locate the person responsible but when he did he was nearly tempted to walk away. Not because he disliked the girl in question but because trouble tended to occur when they were together. But it was a concert, Drew didn't think they could get into trouble at a concert. He managed to make his way over to her with a smile on his face.
"Hey Lydia. Been a while. What's up?"
Drew glanced up at the stage. The lead singer was one of those eyelinered pretty boys. His guitarist seemed to prefer a jeans and t-shirt combo with necklaces and studded bracelets galore. The drummer was shirtless and wearing shorts and that was it. The bassist...well there wasn't much to say about him. He fit with the guitarist in that he wore jeans and t-shirt but really the most notable thing about him was his dreadlocks. He just seemed to fade into the background otherwise.

Gina seemed awfully surprised by his proposition. Drew chuckled a little at that and her expression. It seemed she didn't quite believe what she'd heard. Her hesitant agreement made him laugh. When she was settled and had given a cry of 'Let's do this!, Drew grabbed up the tub of water balloons and made she they were within Gina's reach.
"This way, I run and you're free to pelt anyone that gets too close with balloons."
That said, Drew took off. By the further off sounds the rest of the battle was winding down. One team had probably destroyed the other once Drew had stolen the ammunition. They were probably down to the last few hold outs with these folks off chasing after them. Drew ran from the group as fast as he could while carrying both the tub and Gina.

Drew overheard Jorge's shouting at the spoiled little girl that had caused all the mess. It did him good to hear it. If she'd gone without reprimand he might have had to do something about it. However Jorge was a good guy and could quite clearly see who was at fault here. Beyond that however he was very confused at what had happened. The feeling he hadn't expected that time since there weren't that many people around this time. However the new version of the promise tattoo was what really got him. It had appeared on the boy's wrist too.
He paid little attention as the boy hastened to put on the apron that Jorge provided, though he did chuckle a bit at Jorge's joke. He glanced up from his wrist where the pattern was still fading at Jorge's concerned inquiry.
"Yeah I'm fine...it's just..." Drew held up the wrist so that the quickly vanishing pattern was visible to Jorge against the vines, "It's never done that before. And the kid had one too..."
Could it be possible that all this confusion and worry was due to his power changing? It didn't seem all that likely to Drew. Why would his power, a power that was probably one of the worst powers ever, do anything that could be construed as a benefit for him? Since the tattoos only appeared when a promise was made and he hadn't said anything Drew could only assume that the feeling that he'd been stuck with all week and the new pattern just now were because the boy had made a promise to him. That opened up a whole new can of worms if it was what was happening.

Ambush it was. Drew grabbed the tub and was about to offer Gina a few more balloons when a shout alerted him to the group of enemies that had just entered the trees.
"Oh..."
Drew swore under his breath. They'd have to run again. Gina seemed a bit worn and they needed a way to return fire that didn't include stopping. An idea occurred to Drew. He turned to Gina.
"Up for a piggy back ride captain?"
She could throw balloons so they'd have offense and he'd do the running. It would work well enough. At least until they got away and found another place to hide or something.

His idea worked but not exactly how he'd intended. Jorge headbutted the mutt right on the muzzle and Drew winced at the sound. The kid would have one heck of a broken nose when he changed back. However been that and Jorge's shove the weredog was removed from the somewhat dazed detective. Drew unfortunately went tumbling with the weredog as it was difficult to let go in time. On the bright side Drew could see a bit more reason in the eyes he was staring into. Maybe the pain had helped jostle the kid into taking control again. On the downside Drew was now sitting on top of a weredog that was struggling to gain control of his mutation.
The skin rippled now and then as the kid underwent another fight with himself. Drew meanwhile used his body to hold the kid down, just in case he lost and decided to go crazy again.
"Come on kid you got this. It's your power you control it, not the other way around."
It was a hair raising minute that passed as the kid kept fighting. However eventually Drew was no longer sitting on top of a huge furry death machine but a very embarrassed kid. He got up and helped the kid up too.
"Good job. Just promise me you'll stick to chasing cars next time."
He chuckled a little. The kid grinned sheepishly.
"Sure, I promise I'll chase down a big truck for you."
The feeling was back but Drew was not paying attention to that. He was paying attention the pattern of brown and black fangs making it's way across the kid's wrist. Drew looked down at his own wrist in amazement to see the same pattern sketching across Allison's designs. Before it was even halfway done though the pattern began to reverse and fade. Drew was more than a little shocked. He stood back, trying to figure out just what this meant.

Huh, a smile and a compliment on good thinking. That was better than he thought. Maya extended a hand through the mirror and waved him closer. So they were going to travel through a mirror to get to the bar? Why not. Mirror traveling drunk had to be better than driving drunk. Drew reached out and took her hand.
"Ready when you are, captain."
Drew smirked a little as she pulled him through. Alice could keep her looking glass. Maya's was better and held the promise of alcohol on the other side. Despite his first experience with it being what it was, Drew didn't hate alcohol. He just didn't like how vulnerable to Martin's machinations it had made him. Then again those machinations had led him to the happy state he enjoyed in Martin's confidence. So confusing. Either way, he was fine with alcohol and maybe even getting drunk. He just was not ok with being drunk with a stranger.

Drew gave a slight shrug.
"I can drive if you want. Though my car is trash compared to some of the stuff in that garage."
He'd spent a lot of time wishing he could afford some of the cars parked in that garage. Outright stealing one for a joyride wasn't something he was entirely comfortable with. Drew shrugged again.
"Second thought, I don't want to waste my ride if I get wasted. Bus or whatever would probably be best."
Maya would probably be disappointed since she had already picked out a car to steal. But someone had to be responsible. Man being responsible sucked.

Why had she had the DR make a mirror for her? That was answered when she challenged him to a race and walked into the mirror. That...seemed really familiar actually. Drew knew he'd seen someone do exactly that before. It also seemed like it had been a while since he'd seen whoever had done it. Drew thought about it as he headed up to his room. No point racing against a girl that could walk through mirrors. He was fast but he wasn't that fast. He took about three minutes tops to pull on a fresh shirt and pants. He still looked horrible but at least his clothes were clean and whole.
He headed down to the foyer still in thought. It seemed like whoever it was had been a guy. Name started with a G. Gary? Gabe? Garth? Gawain? Yeah, Gawain sounded right. Then Drew remembered. He'd met the guy the day he'd met Kate. He had pulled exactly the same trick. Twins? It was possible. Of course this was mutation. Gawain and Maya could also be the same person. In which case Drew full understood why Maya preferred girls. Drew walked into the foyer and saw no one waiting. Having caught on to the trick he also checked the mirror.
"Well you look better Maya."
The both of them were definitely going to attract attention. He'd wait to bring up the mutation thing. Maybe after they'd had a drink or two. Drew was still nervous about the idea but he figured if he was going to drink with anyone an X would be the best choice.

Drew pantomimed his heart break at being denied. One hand grasped his chest.
"Oh my poor heart, it aches with the sting of your rejection!"
Then he laughed. His cheeks were a bit red from the flirting, as he still wasn't used to it. However it was getting easier. Maya gave her self a glance over and that made Drew take a look at himself. He looked horrible.
"A change of clothes I think. At least. We look like we just went three rounds with a pair of rabid scissors or something."
Maybe Allison's influence was hanging around longer than he thought? Probably just the tattoo. Drew glanced at the vines for a moment and then back at Maya.
After he'd dropped Kate off at her room Drew had made a quick stop at his room for a new shirt and then headed down to the kitchen. He didn't know quite how much time he had but he figured he might as well try and make something for Kate anyway. Cookies would be quick and easy enough. It was no great thing to have a batch prepared and in the oven. After the half an hour spent in prep and getting the cookies in the oven Drew turned his attention to something to drink. Something hot would be good, since Kate had just gotten a dunking.
So he put the kettle on. Tea seemed like the thing. She was English after all. Ok, putting stereotypes aside it was quick and easy to make and wouldn't over power the cookies. Drew sat at the table while the kettle was on. Now he just had to wait for Kate.

(Turn and actions taken with the permission of Kate.)
Kate's response to his question was to cling to him. It made sense. She was probably freezing to death and he was a warm body. Drew picked her up and held her as close as possible.
"Come on, let's get inside."
If they had a towel out here at all he'd stay out here. However even his shirt was out of commission so that was no good. So they'd have to go indoors. Kate wasn't exactly dressed to handle the air conditioning even if she was normal girl. As it was she'd be freezing. Still, he carried her indoors, feeling her flinch and curl against him further the moment they hit the cold air. Drew sped up as much as he could while still keeping a firm grasp on her. The sooner he got her to her room the better.
They were up the stairs and to Kate's room in record time, if he did say so him. Drew carefully set her on her feet.
"You get yourself dried off, warmed up, and dressed and meet me down in the kitchen when you're ready."
Judging by that fight and the mess that happened after they really could stand to talk.

Drew didn't pay much attention to the byplay between Kate and Sam. He was already angry, on top of everything else. Drew didn't want or need a reminder that Kate liked his boss much better than him. Sam on the other hand seemed to be trying to cheer him up. It was a shame, a real shame, what he was being forced to do. He wanted to just shout out about his promises to Martin right then and there. He even tried to do so but he just couldn't find the words. It hurt to betray them like this even if he had no choice. These people meant more to him than his own family. Resigning himself to the situation, Drew suppressed the problems and smiled at Sam.
"Thanks Sam but no thanks. My place is here with the paperwork and whatnot."
Sam offered to have him stay and Kate's words said she didn't object but he knew better. Sam didn't care if he stayed and Kate didn't want him there. Drew just gave Sam another smile.
"You're right, I did miss her." he said quietly but with just a hint of a tone that said that missing her might have been a mistake, "But you two don't need me hanging around. I'll go do some DR training or something."
Drew gave Kate a look.
"Whatever it is I'm sure Sam can help. He always does."
He turned and left the office without saying anything else. It was just better that he go.

He nodded. Maya liked the idea of fighting again as much as he did. Drew waved off her apology for the scratches and what not.
"It's fine. It was a fight. All is fair yadda yadda yadda."
Apparently she had been mad but her explanation of her choices for fixing that put just a bit of color in his cheeks and a grin on his face.
"More's the pity or I'd offer."
He winked cheekily at her. Now the invitation out to drinks was another matter all together. He didn't know Maya all that well and he had decided not to drink with strangers again. However she was an X-Man and he was infinitely more likely to trust an X-Man. Plus they weren't exactly strangers now that they'd beaten each other silly.
"Sure. I'll buy."
It was the least he could do for a senior member of the team and someone who'd given him such an excellent fight.

"Yeah, I'll remember that next time I have to headbutt someone"
Drew staggered to his feet and offered a hand to Maya. It had been a good fight. He was sore and bruised all over. It would take a few days for him to look like he hadn't just been mauled.
Over all he felt pretty good.
A relaxed smile played across his face. That had done plenty to get rid of tension and his overly excited mood.
"Nice fight. We'll have to do that again sometime."
He was completely serious. Having someone to spar with that wouldn't hold back in an effort to teach felt good.
