The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

His gambit worked and Drew was able to regain control of the fight for a few seconds. Pity he'd interrupted her while she was talking but all was fair in love, war, and kicking the crap out of someone. Unfortunately she'd had the bright idea to grab his arms. He tugged on them in a futile effort to resume pummeling her.
"Yeah well, dating's a pain and women are trouble."
With his arms in lockdown Drew had to think fast on what to do. What he thought of was perhaps not the most brilliant tactic known to man or mutant but what the heck.
Drew headbutted Maya.
And immediately regretted it.
"Ooh, bad idea." he moaned as he tugged his arms out of her grip to clutch his skull.
"You realize you have an incredibly hard head?" was his witty comment as he rolled/staggered off of Maya to sit on the ground beside her.

Her reaction to being pinned amused him. Mind you it resulted in him being kicked twice but still amusing. Apparently guys weren't her thing. Not that he'd been particularly interested. Cute she was but girls had been nothing but trouble for him of late anyway. Mind you he hadn't seen Tasean since that night either. Bleh, relationships were complicated. Once she'd rolled him and he was one the defensive he managed a chuckle or two while trying to once again pin her instead of him.
"That's fine. I'm not interested either."
Releasing the grip with one of his hands he tried to punch her in the stomach. With luck it would land and distract her enough for him to gain the advantage again.

Drew chuckled at Maya's come back. Training with Sam for as long as she had had probably made her pretty good at them if she hadn't been to start. Drew couldn't tell precisely whether she was being sarcastic or not when she responded to his assertion that saving the world didn't matter to him. It didn't but there was no point arguing it and ruining a perfectly good sparring match. Besides, he was giving as good as he got and Maya was taking it all in stride.
It was good to be able to cut loose like this. Not only would he be totally worn out and beaten to a pulp afterward but he was learning from each punch, kick, block, dodge, and what have you. Like, for instance, that sweep kick that he really should have seen coming that had taken him right off his feet. Drew landed on his back on the DR floor with a thud. Well he had essentially dared her to put him on his back so...oops? There was some satisfaction to be had though. She fell with him. Time to wrestle, Drew guessed. Not that he knew a thing about it so it was time to wing it and get his butt handed to him! Drew made a grab for Maya, intent on pinning her. This was going to go so well.

He smirked at Maya. Welcome to the team huh? Drew wasn't even technically a member. Oh well, if Sam had his way he would be at some point. It still felt like someone was trying to play a massive prank on him though. Drew was a little shocked to hear how long Maya had been training with Sam. Shocked and dismayed because two years of training with Sam meant that there was probably no chance Drew could actually win this fight. He just wasn't that good yet.
Maya advanced into her own offensive before Drew could come up with a verbal response. He dodged what he could and blocked most of what he couldn't. A punch and a couple of kicks made it through, though he'd have bruises from what he'd had to block. The best defense after all was to just not get hit. But it was pretty apparent that if she hadn't known about his balance weakness before, she did now. Most of the kicks were aimed at his legs.
"Ouch," he said as another of those kicks landed, "If ya want me on my back there's other ways to do it."
Wow, he was in a good mood to joke like that. Oh well, right now he was having the most fun he'd had in ages. Well aside from that thing with Allison. Her changes to his tattoos were still untouched so he still had a mess of flowering vines growing up his left arm. He'd not been precisely sane when that had happened. Not insane either but definitely not sane. Her comment about saving the world brought him back into the fight and conversation.
"Nah. I just want to help out and protect the folks that I care about. If I save the world in the process then that's just icing on the cake."

The fire hose effect did it's job in holding the weredog off but the onlookers were still there. Drew was about to shout at them when Jorge diverted his attention from the weredog to do just that. Oh it had the desired effect. The onlookers started to leave as quickly as their feet would carry them. However, from his position Drew was able to see the moment when that change of attention cost Jorge his dominance in the fight. The pressure eased off and the weredog took advantage of it. Drew scrambled to his feet after being leaped over by the mutt in question just in time to see him collide with Jorge who hadn't been able to bring the water back to bear on him in time. Drew swore under his breath.
Jorge's comment about the breath mint had him chuckling in spite of the situation at hand. Where on earth were the rest of the bloody force when you needed them? There was nothing for it. Drew gathered himself up and threw himself in a tackle at the weredog. The mutant was far too close to snapping his jaws shut on Jorge. Drew landed solidly against the dog but didn't dislodge him. Unbalance him? Yes. Dislodge? Unfortunately not. Drew did not want to hurt the poor guy. Not by a long shot. However he was a tough pain in the neck in this form and this state of mind.
"Snap out of it kid! You don't want a death on your conscience, believe me!"
He knew that it was likely a wasted effort but Drew couldn't help it. He didn't want to give the humans a reason to try and put the kid down like the dog he had unfortunately transformed into.
"Jorge! I'll pull, you push as much as you can!"
Drew didn't really want to take say much more than that. With the dog focused mostly on Jorge, Drew had a chance to get closer than he normally would have. He tossed his arms around the weredog's midsection and yanked as hard as he could, away from Jorge.

Oh lord she was one of those. Drew had barely kept his balance when Sam had tested him on it in their bout. Maya it seemed had either realized that balance was one of his issues or just liked screwing with people like that. By the grin on her face he guessed it was a bit of both. The maneuver reminded him far too much of Sam so Andrew had to guess that she had trained with him. He once again barely avoided landing on his butt, though it was a very near thing and he probably looked pretty comical as he struggled to maintain his upright position. He replied to her question once he'd gotten back into stance.
"Sort of. Sam asked me to join but we're still working on training and I haven't had my try out yet." Drew darted in and delivered a few punches, hiding the real strike amidst a few fakes, "You've worked with Sam before haven't you? He nearly knocked me on my butt with something like that too."
It was kind of exciting to be working with one of the X's, even if she was a trainee that he'd never met before. He sort of assumed she was a trainee. Who knew, maybe she was a full blown X-man? It didn't matter to him, he was enjoying the chance to improve against a new opponent.

Drew didn't question how she knew about useless mutations. It seemed to be an unspoken rule right now that that topic was off limits. That was fine by him. If Maya got him talking about his mutation right now he'd be too excited to fight. He took all of a second to note the music and then dismiss it as unimportant. Then she was telling him to bring it. Well if she wanted him to start he'd be happy to oblige. Drew immediately shifted from standing normally into a fighting stance. His arms came up in a loose guard.
"With pleasure." was his response to her command.
He was moving before he finished speaking. A leg was flung forward in a kick aimed at her side. He was testing. Drew needed to know exactly how good she was before he could decide what to do with this fight. With Sam he'd played a mostly defensive game. Maya was an unknown factor so he needed to figure that out before he could plan. Drew only hoped that, since she seemed to be angry, she'd make some mistakes and generally fight sloppy.

She finished off the remaining drones quickly, though the last blow made him wince. Drone or not Drew just hoped she didn't decide to pull that one on him if they sparred. After the drones faded she turned to look at him. The non-recognition seemed to be mutual since she didn't immediately greet him by name. The fieriness in her tone caught him off guard. Someone was feeling pretty feisty today. Drew just flashed her a smile. The bad mood of a stranger wasn't about to get him down. Not today.
"Just admiring your fight is all."
Drew nodded as she laid out the rules. He began to stretch out some while he answered.
"Well if you want to spar that's fine by me. I need the workout." He smirked a bit, "Don't have to worry about my mutation. Utterly useless for combat anyway. Just do me a favor and avoid saying 'I promise'."
Once he was stretched out Drew walked over to join her in the center of the room.
"I'm Andrew by the way."
If he was going to fight her she ought to at least know his name.

His relief was palpable when she finally started coughing up water and gasping for air. Drew had been worried for a matter of seconds there that he'd done something wrong or hadn't gotten to her in time. After all she was a fire elemental and he did remember that cold hurt her. Kate pulled him into a hug and thanked him. Drew just smiled a little in relief. He'd have given her his shirt but sadly it was no more. He'd be taking that up with the young punk that had done this to them. They'd put Kate in serious danger and that was NOT ok.
"Not exactly what I was picturing for cooling my head but it'll do. Let's get you inside so you can dry off and change."
He almost immediately picked her up and carried her but after their fight there he hesitated, remembering some of what she said.
"Do you want to walk or should I carry you?"
The last thing they needed right now was to start fighting again because he'd tried to be nice and had it come off as condescending to her.

Why was he headed to the Danger Room? That was easy. Drew needed to work off some energy. Ever since he and Jorge had tangled with that weredog he'd been entirely too cheerful. His mutation was actually going to be useful. He was going to be able to hold other people to their promises darn it. It was enough to make him grin. After having spent so long being afraid now they'd learn to fear. They'd learn what it was like to fear a pair of words. Once again his cheerfulness was annoying people so instead of wasting it in the heat outdoors, Drew had thought to put it toward something useful. Training.
After all, Sam had invited him to join the X's a while back. That meant, despite everything else, he really needed to step up the workouts and training. Drew needed to impress when he finally had that tryout, whenever that would be. So it was off to the Danger Room. He wanted a challenge in his training and without any partners to spar with at the moment DR drones would have to do. The room in question loomed and Drew entered only to find it occupied. He didn't recognize the girl in the center of the room that was beating the tar out of a bunch of opponents that were all handsome rich looking men. Issues maybe?
In either case she was easily trashing them. Drew couldn't help it, he was impressed. He clapped in appreciation of the show.

He honestly doubted that she 'got it' but said nothing. There was nothing more to say after all. She'd pretty much destroyed any desire he had to speak with her at all. So when Sam showed up at the door several minutes later Drew was several parts relieved and one part annoyed. The look on Kate's face when she heard Sam speak frustrated him. Sure, she was pleased as punch to see Sam but Drew got only an 'we weren't that close'. Drew squashed that sliver of envy that cropped up and smirked at Sam.
"Can't take the credit for this one boss. She's here to see you. Surely you remember Lady Kate Finch-Hatton?"
Drew stood up from the chair behind the desk.
"Paper work's been taken care of. Well, at least until you manage to make more for me. Which you will."
He rounded the desk and headed toward the door. There wasn't any more need for him in this room now that the star had rolled on in.
"Unless you need me for something else I'll just leave you two alone."

Before he knew what was happening he was being dragged away from a no longer flame covered Mr. Muscles. This was what he had been waiting for, though he was a little disappointed that he wasn't going to get to punch Muscles. However it was worth it to see Mama T in action. She waltzed right up to Muscles and slapped him so hard he backed up right into the parents. The man was even cowering before her! And then, oh then she spoke. The mansion's mother figure was good and furious and now the wretched parents and their psychotic attack mutant knew it.
Drew couldn't stop a chuckle or two during the verbal assault. It was magnificent to behold and he was very glad he wasn't on the receiving end of it. Besides, with Gemma in the room Drew felt like himself for the first time in a very long time. He remembered Sveta, felt no need to look Rhythm up like the crown jewels, and best of all could quite easily contemplate all the various ways he would murder Martin without feeling so much as a twinge of guilt for betraying him. It was bliss.
And then the screaming harridan descended on Gemma and his brief moment of happiness was snatched away and replaced with anger. How could anyone behave like that?! She screeched and howled at Gemma. Well there were words but Drew wasn't deigning to hear them anymore since the woman had long ago delved into madness in his eyes. What he did pay attention to though was the moment her crucifix suddenly became a knife that was aimed at Gemma. Drew darted foward, throwing Gemma back and to the side with one hand as the other stretched forward to punch the crazed woman. The blow connected and stopped the woman only long enough for her gaze to turn to Andrew. Her next movement was too fast for him to track. There was pain, and something foreign buried up to it's hilt in his side. A victorious look flashed on the woman's face as Drew realized that he'd been stabbed.

A credit card under yet another name sailed across the table at Drew. He picked it up gingerly. What had Martin done to gain this card? On second thought, Drew didn't want to know. He was given his instructions. Buy the rope (hemp, at least five meters), the blow torch, and the pliers (three). He was also to buy himself something pretty? That was a vague instruction but Drew would obey, somehow. He was then to meet Martin at a certain place at a certain time. Cold dread of what would happen at that place solidified in Drew's stomach before waging war with anticipation that his master wished to see him again so soon.
The meal continued in silence, though Drew did note the smile Martin wore as he cracked into that sea bug's claw. They parted ways at the end of the meal and Drew went to tend to his errands. He spent the rest of the day at the mansion vacillating between fear and excitement. When the appointed hour approached Drew headed of for the address with the purchases in tow.
The place turned out to be an old butchers. That didn't bode well. Drew approached the building carrying the rope, blow torch, and pliers with him. The credit card was in a pocket. After finding a way in Drew glanced around the old place.
"Martin? Sir?"
Drew stood there awkwardly, waiting for Martin to make himself known. Who knew what the man had planned for tonight but Drew was and was not eager to find out.

He been about to leave the spoiled princess to her lonesome when things went down. Now this was a school for mutants so there being a telekinetic around was not at all surprising. But having his shirt stripped off, no matter that it was already unbuttoned and open, via telekinesis was a little much. Drew began to look around for whoever the culprit was when suddenly there wasn't any ground beneath his feet.
Oh, hello pool water.
He hit the water with a splash and was soon sputtering and wiping the water off of his face as he struggled to figure out what the heck had happened. One of the mansion's mutants was involved. He knew that much. Whichever of the little brats it was was in big trouble. As soon as he figured out who they were. His eyes scanned the pool, noting that the burning lounge chair had been dumped into the pool too. Well at least they'd had sense enough to do that. Drew swam over to haul it out of the pool when his eyes caught something else that was drastically more important.
Kate was sinking and about half way to the bottom of the pool, unconscious. Oh crap.
The burnt lounge chair was abruptly forgotten as he hastened to collect the sodden fire elemental and drag her out of the pool. Craaap. He'd never had to do this before!
"Kate? Kate?!"
Drew shook her in an effort to wake her. He was certain it wouldn't work. What did you do in situations where someone was unconscious and not breathing? That's right kids, mouth to mouth! And so, full of nervousness because darn it he'd never had to save a life like this before, Drew set about reviving the girl he'd just spent several minutes shouting at.
