The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Laughing that much felt good. Despite everything that had happened he could still laugh and Drew was happy for that. Of course Kate's confusion at his mention of Kevin punctured that bubble of happiness and his smile gave way to a blank face.
"My father. His name is Kevin."
That was all he was going to say on the matter because he wasn't about to let Kevin ruin a perfectly good laugh. Drew listened to her describe her trip to Rome and how Hanna helped her and he smiled again. He'd need to thank this Hanna if he ever met her.
"And she got you to wear pants! Don't forget that!"
He grinned and winked at Kate. That change in fashion wasn't going to escape his notice. Before she left he'd never seen the girl in anything but dresses.

He managed to keep a straight face right up until the bit about a bright aura and giving off good vibes. The moment that left Kate's lips Drew dissolved into laughter. What on earth did that mean anyway? Kate didn't have any clue either which only made him laugh more. When he finally got himself back under control he grinned at Kate.
"Rome huh? Kevin would kill to go to Rome." he smirked, "There's a reason my middle name is Julius. Kevin's obsessed with Rome."
Drew didn't even think twice about calling his father by his first name instead of dad or father. It didn't really occur to him that he might confuse Kate speaking like that.

Drew grinned at Kate's laughter. He wasn't entirely sure why she was laughing but he could appreciate that he'd made her laugh anyway. He leaned back in his chair and stuck his hands behind his head real cozy like before he answered her near laughing question.
"Not much to tell. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky and I've been here in New York for about three years now. I work here at the mansion for Sam as his assistant. I work out every day and tend to get into trouble whether I'm lookin' for it or not. What about you, Kate?"
By the time he finished speaking, having barely restrained his accent from slipping through too much, Drew was grinning widely. This was somewhat fun, if a little silly. But he could do silly if it meant patching up a friendship that had been one of the first he'd had in years.

Kate sipped her tea and listened to him talk. The silence fell in for a moment or two afterward as she seemed to consider his words and decide what to do about them. Drew couldn't bring himself to be nervous. No, he sat there and waited for her reaction fairly calmly. His attention snapped back to her from his musings when the tea cup hit the table. As her hand reached across the table in introduction he smiled. In fact he was just short of laughing but instead he'd suppressed it into a smile none the less. Drew took Kate's hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you Kate. I'm Andrew Julius Leroy. Most folks just call me Drew."
It was a good way to restart things. Hopefully this time would work out better than the last time they'd tried to be friends. Not that that had been bad. It just hadn't really gone anywhere a little while. There had been other people Kate had spent more time with and then she'd disappeared. Drew gave a mental shrug. It was the past.

Hrmm. So the burden of questioning was going to fall to him? Drew sat back in his chair. He wasn't entirely sure what to ask. Yes he was upset she'd left but as much as that annoyed him there wasn't much he could think to ask about it. It was mostly her business after all. He leaned forward a little.
"I can't say that I have any questions. I was angry. Still am a little. But what's done is done. Neither of us are the same people we were when you left and that's that I guess."
That said Drew sat back in his seat again. That was that in his opinion. Either she'd tell him in time when she figured out how to say it or not at all. Drew didn't really see the point in asking a load of questions. Especially when he felt like he was talking to a stranger.

Ok, now he was sure something fishy was up. The moment he tried to leave, even just to get cat food, the girl put a stop to it with a tin of food that she just seemed to have had but forgotten. If Drew had been doubting that things weren't as they seemed that would have made him suspicious. He took the can of cat food and walked over to his partner in heroics when he beckoned.
"So what've you got? I find it pretty darn convenient that she just so happened to have cat food that she remembered only when I was going to leave."
Drew shot a glance to the girl but brought his attention back to Masochist before she looked back at them. Even without super senses he could tell that something here wasn't right and it had to do with that girl and that cat.
"If it weren't for what might happen to some other poor schmuck if they got caught in this I'd be all for bailing."
As annoying as this was it was better that it happen to him than to someone else, someone perhaps not accustomed to having life throw curve balls at them. Lord knew that Drew was plenty used to getting a normal day turned upside down by now.

Eventually Sam showed up a mess of rain and wet dog. A wet dog that chose a moment shortly after he'd gotten inside to shake the water off of his coat and thereby get Drew at least partly wet and smelling of dog. Instead of scowling at the watery dog though Drew turned to Sam and grinned.
"Sounds good to me."
Sam's question after the dog was gone brought Drew up short. Blonde or Brunette? After a half a minute's pause Drew chuckled as Sam tried to pegged him as a guy that liked blondes. If he were a little more bold he'd say something but that wasn't who he was, new found confidence or not. No, Drew just smirked at Sam.
"Does it matter?"
It was part legitimate question and part tease. He honestly didn't give a care at all about hair color. There were other things he liked more.
"So where did you want to go?"
Drew briefly thought about his last drinking excursion with Mirror. It could get awkward if they ended up at that same bar. Those were slim odds though. Tonight he figured that the most he'd be worried about was the next round.

There was no alteration in his face when Martin appeared beside him. No outward show of emotion. He was becoming used to Martin's little stealth tricks. They didn't scare him anymore really. Well, maybe a bit but he was used to it so he didn't react. The voice and demeanor didn't seem as though they demanded his standing at attention in the manner that he was but having born witness to Martin's sudden mood swings if he did even one thing wrong Drew wasn't about to take the chance and relax. He remained straight as a rail as the question rang out.
"I would be eager to learn anything you see fit to teach."
Chances were that he wasn't being offered a choice in the matter anyway. He would learn or he would suffer. These were the simple facts of his existence as ruled by Martin. Whatever Martin intended to teach him would be learned in an effort to better serve the man. This would hopefully see to it that Drew suffered less often. That was the intention behind his acceptance anyway. That and blind loyalty. Drew supposed that he probably would throw himself off of a skyscraper of Martin's choosing if the man asked it of him.
"If I may be permitted to ask, what will you be teaching me?"
If it was something distasteful Drew would rather know ahead of time so that he could steel himself for it. There was very little he'd done for Martin during their association that he enjoyed for any reason beyond seeing to it that he did as Martin ordered. This time he was rather hoping it would be different.

It had been some time since Martin's last requested meeting. Time enough to heal from the wounds. Of course he'd deserved them. After all he was supposed to serve Martin and he'd actually been reluctant about it! How ridiculous was that? The man had been nothing but kind to him. Not many people would understand the sort of kindness but it was kindness none the less. It was with a certain amount of fondness then that Drew regarded the well disguised message telling him to report to the butchery once more. Martin was such a clever man that it didn't surprise Drew at all that he'd managed such a ruse. That he'd spoken of his family to almost no one here ensured that they probably would never discover the deception. Since he was done with his work for the day Drew decided to head out.
Those in the mansion that cared to keep track of his comings and goings were now used to Sam's assistant going out every evening and coming back late. It had become a regular part of his routine ever since his power had changed. Drew felt confident and empowered. With that confidence had come a desire to see some vengeance done on the people that had wronged him and his. It felt good to see humans fearful of him for a change. And, somewhere deep down, it made him feel like he was in control for a few brief minutes. Control had been all but stripped from him by Martin and no matter how devoted to the man he was he missed it somewhat. Just enough to enjoy the resurgence of it that occurred whenever he had someone trapped. Perhaps some other equally deeply buried portion of his personality protested at treating other people like that. Drew over ruled it whenever it got the nerve to make itself known.
Evening wasn't too far off so unfortunately he didn't have time to indulge in his newest hobby before meeting with Martin. It wasn't hard to remember how to get there. The place was seared into his memory because of the pain and humiliation Martin had put him through there. He arrived just as the gloom of evening was starting to take hold of the neighborhood. The sidewalks were deserted as usual and he walked casually into the butchery. Once he was a few feet inside he stood at attention and waited for Martin to show himself.

Ouch, the c word. Cute would hard for any normal guy to hear but Drew wasn't exactly normal in most senses of the word. So as much as it hurt his manly pride, yeah even he snorted a little there, Drew took it with laughter. As much as he could laugh after that fight anyway.
"Yeah I guess it is."
Lydia apparently favored red velvet cake and for that Drew grinned. Red velvet was a recipe he was very familiar with. Granny Ila had taught him that one. So had mom too but he used Granny Ila's recipe for the most part. When she asked what his specialties were he grinned.
"Well I can do a little bit of anything. German Chocolate Cake, any number of cookies, and yes even a family recipe for red velvet."
Finally they came up on the street and the row of cars. Drew turned and within a few more steps they came to his car. The black car stood under a street lamp. Honestly he'd been very lucky to get this spot. Probably someone throwing him a bone in advance of the fight. He went over to the passenger side, unlocked the door, and held it open for Lydia.
"Your chariot m'lady."
Hey, he didn't have to be a total bust at charm all the time right?

It felt a little odd to be standing in the foyer of the mansion waiting on Sam so they could go out bar hopping. It was only a vague feeling and he tried to dismiss it as best he could. Normally on a night like tonight he'd be out on the town anyway so going with Sam only had the effect of changing the activity. His mother would call his new pastime a delinquent behavior and would strictly disapprove if she cared to notice it. It was very fortunate for Drew then that he hadn't had any contact with that woman in so long. After all he rather doubted she would recognize the son she thought she had raised in the scarred man standing in the entry of a posh house. This man was mostly stoic but every now and then a hint of humor could be seen in his eyes or the twitch of a lip and it was all entirely innocent humor either.
Yes he'd developed a fair streak of schadenfreude in recent days. Especially in the presence of humans. Why he even enjoyed being the one to cause the suffering he smirked about! Oh yes Drew was thoroughly enjoying being the aggressor for a change. After all, he wasn't just some schmuck that could be ordered around by just anyone anymore. (Martin didn't count and that wasn't a flush on his cheeks thank you!) Now Drew was the one that could give the orders. One slip of the tongue and anyone could find themselves sporting a very special tattoo. It made the young rather confident and perhaps understandably so.
Regardless of all that he was waiting for Sam in the foyer so they could go waste an evening getting wasted. Being as Sam was one of the few people he trusted implicitly Drew had absolutely no problem with getting drunk around the man. He knew he could trust Sam to keep him out of any less than savory situations while he was intoxicated. Come to think of it he trust Maya and Gawain to do the same but only from past experience. Neither one of Mirror's genders was going to accompany them tonight unfortunately. It was fun to flirt with them even if nothing would ever happen. That was a shame too but Drew had moved on, mostly.

Kate seemed so lost as she finished speaking. He hadn't bothered to interrupt her. There was no need to do so. She eventually stopped talking on her own for lack of ways to describe whatever her problem was.
"It's alright Kate. I probably over reacted anyway."
While he thought about what she said he gave a casual shrug. Truth told he was not ok with what she'd said at all but she seemed contrite enough that he was willing to let it slide. As he'd realized earlier, they just didn't seem to know each other at all.
"It's fine if you don't want to tell me or can't figure out how."
Now that they were actually talking Drew was finding that maybe he wasn't so keen on getting answers. Sure he wanted them but Drew knew he might not like them. So he was somewhat conflicted. They would have to come sometime if he ever wanted to be friends with Kate. Even if she said he was a friend Drew was beginning to feel like he'd never been her friend at all.

Allison handled the talking nicely. Or at least well enough to get this Garrett person talking again. Frankly these sort of specifics were a little dull and Drew was losing interest. At least until Garrett mentioned the Sanctuary. One of his eyebrows inched upward a little as he looked at Garrett. Drew didn't remember him from his tour of the place with Lori and a PR director seems like something she might mention. Drew hadn't paid a visit the the Sanctuary in a little while though so maybe he was new there? Garrett didn't seem that new to this but Drew was probably over thinking it. He accepted the card with only a glance at it before he pulled out his wallet to put the card there for safe keeping.
"The Sanctuary huh? I've been there before. Lori is...an interesting person to know."
He turned his attention to the contact sheet and left what information he was comfortable with giving. That was pretty much just his name and cellphone number.
"I don't think you were there when I toured the place. How long have you been working there?"
Done with the contact sheet, Drew's attention went back to Garrett. Allison probably had questions too but this time he was more interested in asking questions of his own than just listening to the answers to hers. The Sanctuary quite frankly fascinated him. He didn't think he could ever live there but the idea and the people were interesting at least. Plus he felt it was good to have someplace else to send the people that just couldn't last at the mansion.

A group of men and women in long white robes walked slowly past a perfume store led by a man that by all appearances was an angel. His hair was a pale brown and from his back burst two impressive white wings. He led his group of followers with a sense of purpose about him. This man's name was Jack. Jack was a messenger from God. Placed on this earth to guide a new savior to their destiny and safeguard them from the minions of the Devil. He knew his mission was righteous and holy and that the holy child was near. Only three days ago he had been granted the clarity of mind by God to know where they would find the child and when. However they could not simply collect the child. No there was another matter to be attended to.
For the child dwelt amongst a group of orphans, poor things that had survived the Lord's calling of their parents. One of their number was the destined child. The Lord has seen fit not to reveal precisely which one. It was his wisdom, granted by God, that would make the child known. Yet also among this group of orphans, and the source of the difficulties, was another child. This child was not touched by God but by the Devil. A spawn of Satan himself sent to lead the blessed child astray. Jack and his followers could not let this happen. They would find the savior and kill the devil child. Just ahead was the group of children and their two female minders. Jack made note of a store nearby that would hopefully serve as a good place to hold the children until they had completed their tasks. With luck it's unholy decor would help bring forth the evil in the devil child. Jack signaled to his followers to make ready their weapons and led them toward the group.
Andrew was completely distracted while these things were happening. He was busy perusing a very strange little nick knack shop just across the way from the local goth emporium Cold Crypt or some other such grim name. It wasn't the type of place Drew made a point of visiting. In fact he wasn't entirely sure why he was in this shop to begin with. He'd been bored and had decided to take a walk. Somehow that walk had landed him in a mall. Whatever the reason he'd just about decided he'd had enough of dust catchers and had turned to exit the store when the sounds of chaos reached his ears. Gun shots and screaming. Drew didn't even miss a beat and shifted to a run to go survey the situation just in time to see a bunch of white robed people with guns and knifes threaten a group of children into darkened aisles of Cold Crypt. Totally unsurprised by this he began to edge across the space without drawing notice from the four robed sentinels that now blocked the store's entrance.

He didn't bother dignifying Allison's return comment with a reply. She would think what she wanted no matter what he said. At least that's what his previous experience with Allison had told him. She was an interesting girl in her own way. Equal measures intriguing and infuriating with a hefty dose of stubborn. Drew focused his attention to Garrett and his table. He had quite a speech lined up to promote this thing. Drew listened carefully. Dealing with Martin had retaught him the importance of words, a lesson he'd forgotten while living safely in the mansion.
It all sounded very nice and noble. He was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and say that it was noble if only to try and further improve his mood. The word out of the whole bunch that he actively noticed though was racial. He chose to refer to mutants not as a genetic abnormality of humans but as a different race altogether. If they weren't in the middle of a bustling street fair Drew might have questioned him on it. He didn't fancy being over heard by so many people having such a discussion though. Drew spared a glance over at Allison to see what she thought before dragging another smile out.
"A worthy cause and it is good know of these places."
None of them were places that he actively recognized though the Iris Clinic name did ring something of a bell. Maybe he'd been there once, Drew couldn't quite recall one way or the other. Not that it mattered. He lapsed back into silence. Garrett had chosen Allison to talk to so she could do the majority of the talking. He'd just stand back, watch, listen, and maybe learn something.
