The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jude couldn't help but think of the candlestick and the duster from Beauty and the Beast as he planted a kiss on Svetty's fore arm and then one above her elbow. He kissed a little trail that led him closer and closer to those dangerous, dangerous lips. All that was missing was the playful exchange of "Oh no!" from Svetlana and "Oh yes" from Jude.
Oh no! He grinned at her by way of asking permission to kiss her neck. Oh yes. Next the jaw... at last his hand cupped her face and turned her lips in to his.
"Oh get a room, you two."
Jude couldn't help but smile his lips against hers before pulling back just enough to touch the tip of his nose to hers and open his eyes.
Detail. He saw eeeeeeverything. The pores on her nose, each strand of hair, the peeling paint of the park bench. Given enough time and boredom, he could have counted the blades of grass that had brown tips on them due to the cold weather and then counted the healthy ones. "Whoa."
"Okay. So." He thought over what she had told him and what was actually going on here. "You boost me. We see what happens. If it'z bad, I run away until I find the edge of what you can do. Because zere is an edge now."
He grinned. She really wanted to try this. She said so. Twice. He did too, though how it really helped them he wasn't quite sure. "Okay. Pucker up." He had plenty of reasons to be okay with this plan. Jude rubbed his hands together and winked at Svetlana before offering his hand to her. Once he had captured her fingers in his, he planted a smooch across her knuckles. What was a kiss without a little romance?
He was tugged onto a bench. All of the important moments of their lives were going to happen on park benches, weren't they? Hugging himself proved to be a useful defense against the desire to borrow her power and against the cold. Winter really was here.
"Changed." He parroted the word. The way Svetlana was talking, it sounded like a good thing. "You know, I don't sink I know any of your friends." He didn't have a face to put with Agnes' name. Of course, Svetlana didn't know any of his friends either... and as she had so deftly pointed out, they hadn't really done anything since the incident with the deer.
"So you can stop ze boosting now?" He let his arms loose and changed to rubbing them together in front of him. He should have brought coat to go on top of his sweater to block the wind. "If you sink we can manage it, I am more zan willing to try."
His power waggled and waved and pointed at Svetlana. If it could, it would have made him touch her. Instead, he let her go. He shouldn't have manhandled her in the first place. Especially if this was about her powers.
"Oh." That one syllable held both disappointment and severe relief.
"What about your powers?" If he had sounded worried before, now he was (in the manliest way possible) terrified. Jude folded his arms across his chest and put his hands in his armpits. There. Now he couldn't touch her. Ha! Take that greedy power!
His eyes always pointed forward and looked slightly unfocused. He probably looked a bit nutty, a look that had suited the old geezer way better than a strapping young, old-enough-but-not-too-old man like himself.
"Yeah, yeah. I got a vision sing." Jude twirled his finger around to indicate 360 degrees. It didn't help his appearance of crazy to be doing that so close to his head.
> "I have some news for you."
Now that stopped his breath altogether. Jude caught her arms at the elbow and tried to focus as much of his attention on Svetty. "Twins? Already? Are you sure?"
"I told you I was older." He reminded her in the most kind voice he could muster. Yes. Playing pirates and princesses had been fun, but as an adult he could do some more fun things. Also some less fun things, but mostly more fun since people stopped questioning why a kid was alone wandering around.
"And I'm a mutant now." Okay. He grinned because he couldn't help but brag a little. Also, because Kaitlyn was a friend. Not one he had seen often, but they were pals.
The adult in him realized that she hadn't recognized him. She'd just walked in off the street to the shop of a half clothed man and started spilling her secrets to him. He should have told her to be more careful with sensitive information. Instead, he found himself teasing her. "Guess what I can do!" It sure wasn't the psychic stuff he'd told her about before. That was the future. This was the now.
Safe power, safe power. She didn't give him too long to make his excuses and get out to the park. That left him even less time to find the safest power possible. It wasn't like he could call up Aedus. His power was active and besides, activating that power had been a little bit of a nightmare.
Jude let his own power guide him. Whatever it wanted really bad, he was definitely not choosing. Jude was bouncing in his seat on the subway when his power gave a half-hearted flicker toward an elderly man. He jumped at the chance to snatch that power up and once it had settled in, it was immediately obvious what it was.
360 degree vision.
Holy moly.
It was almost too much information. Jude heard his stop called over the intercom and got up to exit off the train. He was momentarily distracted by the drummer who started drumming behind him and the suspicious glance of a lady who looked like she had sticky fingers over to his left. Jude ended up walking smack dab into a pole that was right in front of him.
Okay. So he could see in all directions. That didn't mean he could really pay close attention to all of those directions. He put his focus in the frontal directions and jogged up the stairs to the street in order to get to their meeting place at the park.
"Hey!" He raised his hand when he saw her and slowed to bend over at the waist. He really, really needed to work out more. "I'm here. What's up?"
"Ze police are looking for a twelve year old." He couldn't figure out how to remedy that without the possibility of getting deported or passed off to a foster family. He would get it straightened out soon as he figured all that out, of course.
"I don't have your power, I have Alister's." Duh. Otherwise they wouldn't have seen the future they would just be looking at each other and both of them would be stupid cats. "Keep zem...? Don't be stupid." Keeping the physical mutations past his copy date was bad enough. Juggling multiple powers would be an absolute nightmare.
> "So. Why'd you run away from home?"
"Why do you never stay home?"
And why wasn't Calley out looking for Ghost? Jude was disappointed. "I sought I would see Ghost in your future." Jude frowned with his whole face.
He was mad and entirely too pessimistic. Where were they? Where was anybody?
> "Hey, guys..."[/color]
Shin. And Kealey. It was like magic. He didn't have a summoning power did he? No. Aedus was supposed to be lava. Jude needed to go see Svetty.
"I..." He had questions. He really did. But instead his eyes started watering and his throat started closing. This was horrible. Manly men didn't cry in front of pretty ladies like Kealey. He used the back of a clenched fist to wipe at his eyes. "What happened?"
Calley's future was one of the most disturbing he'd seen. There was no Ghost. And Katrina... there just weren't words to express the conflicting feelings about everything he'd seen. Some of it was new, some of it just confirmed his worst fears.
They were doing something wrong. Something seriously wrong. What changed things from here? How did Sebastian degrade so far? Every event seemed so interconnected, Jude couldn't untangle the strings. So he settled for something that he could do.
Jude put the sunglasses back on over his eyes and tugged at the short hairs on his upper lip as he thought through it all. Calley seemed to need the moment too. (To be fair, Jude had told him to sit down before.)
"No. I'm not Alister. I'm Jude Csendes and I copy powers."
Blink. "Well zat is one way to do it." Now Jude was wondering how many people were following Sebastian around. So far the count was up to two at least.
He tried to catch the password she typed in, but all he really saw was that there was an "A" in it... at least, he thought he saw the A key go down. Now he was even second guessing that.
"So you're still at ze Sanctuary zen?" Jude was just trying to make polite conversation, really, since he wasn't sure where the whole listening device under the be thing was going. He remembered dropping her off there with Ghost and thinking that he was lucky to have someone adopt him. Of course, that was back when they were both kids. Now at least one of them was grown up.
Jude grunted his apology out just to prove that he wasn't all the regretful. Calley could pay? That money had to be ill gotten. And it wasn't the usual fare, but it was cash. Plus, he had a shot at seeing Ghost.
"You should sit." He waved the purple coated one over toward the purple couches. Jude set his drippy cup on the floor next to one of the legs of a poofy chair so it had less of a chance of getting kicked over. "I'm not waking up Alister." Jude sat, well sank, into the chair that was artfully posed to facilitate conversation. "I'll do it myself."
Was he looking this way? Because Jude was edging his sunglasses down off of his nose.
Cancels powers...? Jude wasn't entirely sure he liked the sound of that. "Zat must be nice for you." He tried to make it sound diplomatic instead of lame. He had worked pretty hard thankyouverymuch to have an active mutation. There was no way he would take the chance of shrinking back into a midget with his girlfriend and the future mother of his children around.
Also, the chocolate had simply disappeared from his hand. Jude traced the disappearance all the way to a ever so slightly familiar looking girl who was laughing and joking around with Ami. Well. He had brought it to appease the women.
Jude took his seat on the other side of Muse and tried not to fret about his mutation getting zapped by the brunette. He waved shyly at Shin and Kealey from across the table. With as often as they shared holiday meals, they were as close to real family as he had at the moment.
A bug? In Sebastian's room? Jude was more than happy to help her find a plug. He had to move one of the plush purple chairs, but there was one there. He remembered seeing it when he future gazed them setting up the Christmas tree... which would go right in front of the table where the kids usually did their homework.
> "Does Jude already know what Sebastian did?"
Was that a trick question? "I know Sebastian went crazy and moved in withz a brown haired girl." Maybe it was talk in third person day and someone forgot to tell him? The Frenchman plugged in her power cord and came back to the glowing screen that was would give him answers.
"How did you know we've been watching zem? Or even get ze listening device in his room?" She was a Christmas angel. Seriously. She came out of nowhere and brought presents!
Alister had kicked him out. Apparently, copying a light based heat power was not conducive to sleeping and something about having two Crows was really freaking Julia out. It hadn't bothered Jude any, but it did get him exiled from the bunk room to the front room's purple couch.
That was where he was when he heard the knock since he had been so rudely jabbed in the ribs and told to move. On the purple couch buried under a fleece blanket that was far too short to over both his feet and his shoulders.
"I am going to kill Calley." Kill him dead. Then he could never ruin one of Jude's mornings again. The frenchman peeled his face away from the couch arm and ran his hands through his hair where it stuck up on one side. He'd ditched Crow's power for Elias' even though that would mean a trip to see Chase soon. Shark teeth was the easiest mutation to sleep through.
He slung the fleece around his shoulders like a cape and opened the door for the cat boy. Only, it wasn't cat boy. "Kaitlyn." Jude changed his fleece tactic from cape to boxer shorts cover up. "Uh. Come in. Let me help withs zat." He scrubbed his eyes and tucked the blanket around him like a towel before helping with the big, bulky bag.
