The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She was not sure what it was, but she was sure it was something.
Pacing around in her room, Sveta was thinking. If what she figured with Agnes did stand true to all mutants... that was going to change everything. She was not sure what happened, or where it came from; but something did, and whatever it was, Jude needed to know.
She was excited and scared at the same time. What if she was wrong? What if it was going to wear off? What if it didn't work? She tried not to get her hopes up, but it was really hard to do. She deserved something good to happen to her. She did.
Picking up her phone, Sveta typed a text message.
Meet me in the Park at 5. Bring a safe power. I have something to tell you.
She knew he would understand.

Safe power, safe power. She didn't give him too long to make his excuses and get out to the park. That left him even less time to find the safest power possible. It wasn't like he could call up Aedus. His power was active and besides, activating that power had been a little bit of a nightmare.
Jude let his own power guide him. Whatever it wanted really bad, he was definitely not choosing. Jude was bouncing in his seat on the subway when his power gave a half-hearted flicker toward an elderly man. He jumped at the chance to snatch that power up and once it had settled in, it was immediately obvious what it was.
360 degree vision.
Holy moly.
It was almost too much information. Jude heard his stop called over the intercom and got up to exit off the train. He was momentarily distracted by the drummer who started drumming behind him and the suspicious glance of a lady who looked like she had sticky fingers over to his left. Jude ended up walking smack dab into a pole that was right in front of him.
Okay. So he could see in all directions. That didn't mean he could really pay close attention to all of those directions. He put his focus in the frontal directions and jogged up the stairs to the street in order to get to their meeting place at the park.
"Hey!" He raised his hand when he saw her and slowed to bend over at the waist. He really, really needed to work out more. "I'm here. What's up?"
Sveta turned and looked; Jude looked a bit out of breath and a bit disoriented. She suddenly felt a pang of guilt over making him rush all the way out to the park without an explanation. Did he think she was in danger? Maybe some more details next time...
"Hi" she smiled, walking over to him "Are you okay?"
He did look... dizzy. Sveta tilted her head to look at him.
"I have some news for you."
That came out more excited than she intended.

His eyes always pointed forward and looked slightly unfocused. He probably looked a bit nutty, a look that had suited the old geezer way better than a strapping young, old-enough-but-not-too-old man like himself.
"Yeah, yeah. I got a vision sing." Jude twirled his finger around to indicate 360 degrees. It didn't help his appearance of crazy to be doing that so close to his head.
> "I have some news for you."
Now that stopped his breath altogether. Jude caught her arms at the elbow and tried to focus as much of his attention on Svetty. "Twins? Already? Are you sure?"
Oh. That explained the eyes. Sveta had the weird feeling that Jude was not really seeing her... or maybe he was seeing too much? There was not much of a difference, either way. But after his sunglasses-phase, she was kind of used to that. She knew she had his attention. Especially when he grabbed her.
>>"Twins? Already? Are you sure?"
She blinked, and then sighed. "Wh... no! Jude, you need to relax. I'm not pregnant. We haven't even kissed since... eh, never mind. I am not pregnant."
Guys. Meh.
"It's about my powers."

His power waggled and waved and pointed at Svetlana. If it could, it would have made him touch her. Instead, he let her go. He shouldn't have manhandled her in the first place. Especially if this was about her powers.
"Oh." That one syllable held both disappointment and severe relief.
"What about your powers?" If he had sounded worried before, now he was (in the manliest way possible) terrified. Jude folded his arms across his chest and put his hands in his armpits. There. Now he couldn't touch her. Ha! Take that greedy power!
She almost chuckled at him as he pulled his hands back. It was obvious he was relieved. She was too, for that matter, but still. Guys can get so scared sometimes, of the most trivial things...
"I think they changed." she confessed, sitting down onto a nearby bench and pulling Jude with her by the edge of his jacket "I was... training, with Agnes, she is a friend and she needs to control her powers just like I need to control mine. So, we trained together, and I was trying to... you know, not boost her. And, something changed. So, I wanted to tell you, and see if we can try. To see if it works with you too."
Because that would be awesome.

He was tugged onto a bench. All of the important moments of their lives were going to happen on park benches, weren't they? Hugging himself proved to be a useful defense against the desire to borrow her power and against the cold. Winter really was here.
"Changed." He parroted the word. The way Svetlana was talking, it sounded like a good thing. "You know, I don't sink I know any of your friends." He didn't have a face to put with Agnes' name. Of course, Svetlana didn't know any of his friends either... and as she had so deftly pointed out, they hadn't really done anything since the incident with the deer.
"So you can stop ze boosting now?" He let his arms loose and changed to rubbing them together in front of him. He should have brought coat to go on top of his sweater to block the wind. "If you sink we can manage it, I am more zan willing to try."
>>"Changed... You know, I don't sink I know any of your friends."
"You met Ami and Aurum." she pointed that out. They were definitely friends. The others at the Thanksgiving dinner were nice people too, but she would not venture as far as calling them friends yet. But Jude was right. Not like a power mimic and a power booster would have a lot of people who want to spend time close to them...
>>"So you can stop ze boosting now? If you sink we can manage it, I am more zan willing to try."
She shook her head.
"I... I don't think I can stop the boosting. And my aura is bigger now." she explained, glancing around. She did choose a meeting place where she could see around fairly well. To avoid accidents. "But I boosted Agnes, and then she walked out of it... and the boost was gone."
That was the best way to explain that.
"So I thought... maybe we could try, and see if it works with you too."

"Okay. So." He thought over what she had told him and what was actually going on here. "You boost me. We see what happens. If it'z bad, I run away until I find the edge of what you can do. Because zere is an edge now."
He grinned. She really wanted to try this. She said so. Twice. He did too, though how it really helped them he wasn't quite sure. "Okay. Pucker up." He had plenty of reasons to be okay with this plan. Jude rubbed his hands together and winked at Svetlana before offering his hand to her. Once he had captured her fingers in his, he planted a smooch across her knuckles. What was a kiss without a little romance?
>>"Okay. So. You boost me. We see what happens. If it'z bad, I run away until I find the edge of what you can do. Because zere is an edge now.
She nodded.
"I boost you, and you try. You don' have to run." she chuckled. With his current vision, he looked very likely to run into something. Or someone. "I just want to see if you can walk out of it."
Because if he could, and he did... that would mean all kinds of things.
She pulled off her gloves; Jude took her hand and planted a kiss on her knuckles. She smiled at him playfully, and waited. She would give him enough time to boost his powers. She was not entirely sure what would happen with his vision... but at least he was not going to blow up the neighborhood...

Jude couldn't help but think of the candlestick and the duster from Beauty and the Beast as he planted a kiss on Svetty's fore arm and then one above her elbow. He kissed a little trail that led him closer and closer to those dangerous, dangerous lips. All that was missing was the playful exchange of "Oh no!" from Svetlana and "Oh yes" from Jude.
Oh no! He grinned at her by way of asking permission to kiss her neck. Oh yes. Next the jaw... at last his hand cupped her face and turned her lips in to his.
"Oh get a room, you two."
Jude couldn't help but smile his lips against hers before pulling back just enough to touch the tip of his nose to hers and open his eyes.
Detail. He saw eeeeeeverything. The pores on her nose, each strand of hair, the peeling paint of the park bench. Given enough time and boredom, he could have counted the blades of grass that had brown tips on them due to the cold weather and then counted the healthy ones. "Whoa."
Jude was being playful too. Sveta found herself giggling like a teenager as he kissed his way up her arm, but the giggling ran out by the time he got to her jaw, and turned into a purr when he finally reached her lips. Dangerous or not, he was damn good at this. Maybe even better because of the danger.
>>"Oh get a room, you two."
Sveta smiled too, pulling back to look at him, making sure he was okay. Once he let go, his eyes were just as unfocused as before, but the expression os his face told her he was seeing something else.
>>"Whoa."
"Are you okay?" she asked, pulling her hand back to break the contact. They had long minutes left before the boost would wear of... "Can you walk?"
In a straight line, that is.
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
"I can walk." Jude shifted after she let him go and he pushed up off of the bench. He saw a leaf transfer from the bench to his back jeans pocket. He could see his own butt. Jude chuckled and brushed the leaf off. He could see himself all the way up to neck if he wanted to. Jeans, white undershirt and a wooly brown sweater that had a lot of texture to get lost in now that he was looking for it.
"I look good." Though he could stand to cut back on the Christmas cookies Letita kept cooking. The Frenchman smoothed his sweater over his tummy and sucked in his gut. What was he supposed to be doing again?
"Right. walking." He could walk. He could even watch the grass getting crunched under his feet until he'd covered them too much for his boosted sight to keep track of. This was so cool. Well, it was cool for him anyway. For anyone else Jude appeared to be imitating the people walking on the moon. He walked with tall exaggerated steps.
He kept Godzilla tromping over the grass until he hit the edge of Svetlana's limit. Then he straightened up and looked around as if he'd noticed something. Which he had. He could no longer see the detail. His sweater was just a sweater, not the texture rich distraction that it was before. The grass was just a mass of green. He could see he blades if he wanted to focus on them, but picking out individual ones would have meant that he would need to get closer.
"I found ze edge!" Jude waved at Svetty. At this distance, she was still pretty even without all the pores.
Sveta laughed. Jude looked like he was high, more than anything else. Or drunk. Or both. The way he seemed to be looking at himself while his eyes were focused ahead made her giggle. She cleared er throat to pull him back to reality.
>>"Right. walking."
She watched him silly-walk away from her, hoping he was not going to end up hitting a tree or stumbling head first into a dumpster. He didn't. After a while he stopped and turned.
>>"I found ze edge!"
She couldn't help but laugh again and clap her hands. It worked! She waved at him.
"Dat's great!" she smiled, bouncing as she sat "Now come back!"
