The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gemma seemed satisfied that both he and Chase were getting along just fine. He was thankful for that since even though he and Gemma were dating before Chase came into her life, the boy was vitally important to her. Anyone with eyes could see that, whenever the two of them were together, there was a connection there, like a link that had bound mother and son one few people would every truly be able to experience. It was as if the two of them had known each other their whole lives; for Gemma and Chase, it was a natural fit.
That why Jorge was glad that indeed he and Chase got along. If they hadn’t, well, he didn’t know how this situation would have worked out. He was just glad that the boy liked him enough to trust him with being in his life; and vice versa.
>> "Superhero huh…I'll need to keep an eye on you. Maybe he is right, and you are just busy because you are fighting crime in your free time.”
He snorted a little at the comment. Great, now he had Gemma on him about that too. A laugh fell from his lips as he shook his head. It was a funny thought, him running around in spandex or a cape or something cheesy like that. He was an X-Man after all; god he hoped that he was not going to have to wear spandex for them. A shudder ran through his mind at the thought.
“If that’s the case I should check your closet for any super hero costumes too,” he said with a wink. After all, she was busy most of the time as well so logic dictated that the same conditions applied to her being a hero.
>> "Sounds good to me…I am starving."
“That makes two of us!” he said with a nod.
He definitely knew Gemma’s tastes by now. Restaurants may be fancy and all the rave, but it meant nothing if they served you a portion the size of a couple of rice kernels. That was simply now how people like Gemma and Jorge rolled. If they were going to eat, it was going to be good food with regular portions. Thankfully, this place seemed to fit all those criteria.
Once out of his car, the detective smiled as he moved his way around to her side and opened the door for her. Elegantly he offered his arm to aide her in stepping out and then lead her inside…

>> "Fair enough."
Triumphant! Gemma knew better than to expect any other answer than the one that he had given her. Jorge prided himself in working hard to try to plan the perfect evenings and to surprise Gemma with them whenever it was time for them to go out. So far any nights he planned proved to be wild successes. Therefore, he really had high hopes that this evening would turn out the same way. It better, after all, this was probably doing to be the date to end all dates considering how it ended.
The lights of the city loomed high around them as he drove through the streets, aiming for their first destination, dinner. Jorge had found a particularly romantic spot that would work just wonders for setting up the rest of the evening. He hoped it would be a place that Gemma enjoyed as well.
>> "So, how has the guy time with Chase been going? He is always really excited to see you. I'm just glad he has someone to look up to. He needs people who care about him..."
He smirked as he nodded, looking quite happy actually.
“Been going well,” he admitted. “He’s a good kid and…we’ve really gotten to know each other.” He chuckled a little as he remembered one of their last meetings, when Chase brought his comic book with him, the one that he could have sworn had Jorge inside as one of the main characters named Christopher. “He’s, heh, kind of got it in his head that I’m some superhero from one of his comic books.”
Though it was a little funny to be confused for a comic character Jorge was not going to just shoot the kid down with his assumptions, which was probably why he never fought the issue all that hard. Jorge was just a cop and he reiterated that to Chase time and again. But he never got mad for the parallels that Chase constantly brought up between himself and that comic character. So long as the boy did not run around with complete delusions in his head, he was fine.
“But…he’s good. You’ve done wonders for him,” Jorge complimented his girlfriend. “He seems far different then how he was when I first met him.”
Jorge mused on this as he turned the corner to a row of buildings. One of which was a restaurant with the name “Bouley’s Restaurant” scrawled on a sign on its exterior. It was actually a pretty nice looking place and he always heard such rave reviews about it.
“Stop number one,” he beamed. Just in time too, his nerves were making him hungry…

>> "Wh... oh…And you look very handsome.”
He smirked and nodded his thanks for her compliment. Inside he felt his pride swell just a little. At least he managed to look decent for this night. He had feared that he was going to come off, looking way too tired or exhausted because of the way work had been these last few days. His days really had been crazy with his case loads but despite all of it, he still managed to pull this night off.
And people said that they didn’t believe in miracles. He chuckled inward as he moved around the car and thanked whatever higher force was out that that helped him to plan this evening. He only hoped, as they were saying earlier, that everything would work out with any type of madness.
Thugs, monsters, mutants, those were the last things that he really wanted to deal with tonight.
He slipped into his car, revved the engine and pulled away from the mansion, leaving it as only tiny dots of light in the background. There was a small sigh of relief ([i[which apparently was mutual) as the pair of them drove away from the school. It was a great place to be, with many awesome people, but they definitely needed to get away, even if it was only for this one night.
They shared a smile and Jorge turned his attention back to the road ahead of him.
>> "So, where are we going?..."
“Going? Hmm…I don’t know. I thought you had this planned out?” he grinned a little devilishly. Because, seriously, after nearly two years of dating, when had the man ever revealed the secrets of their destinations when it was a serious date night? But, he smiled as he nodded to the lovely woman. “I have some things planned for tonight,” he beamed innocently. “All you need to do is relax…and trust me.”

>> "I am running away with the law"
The detective chuckled heartily as he nodded and continued to lead her away. He was more than willing to be Gemma’s knight in shining armor tonight. She had a tough job and what made it worse was that she lived in her workplace so she was almost always on call. That is what made her statement for them to get the hell out of here have all that much more weight to it. More than likely she had just barely managed to get away from some incident that required her guidance counselor duties.
With that in mind they definitely needed to get out of here as quickly as possible. He smirked as he held the door open for her to exit and step out into the cool night air.
>> "So, how many cops do you have patrolling around us so no one can mess up the dinner?"
At that comment he had to laugh out loud. They definitely had their fair share of dates that went south because of duties that they both had to uphold. He was a cop and she needed to keep an eye on her students and help any young mutants she came across; it was needless to say that their lives were pretty much wrapped up in their jobs. But, they always managed to find time for one another.
God, he hoped that tonight was not going to be an example of one of those crazy evenings. He really, really did…
“At least the whole precinct,” he said with a chuckle. “As well as snipers on the roof of the restaurant.”
He smirked and shook his head as he led the lovely woman back to his Chevy Impala (freshly washed and cleaned out) as it sat, waiting for them outside the gates of the mansion. He tilted his head as he opened the gate for her and watched her momentarily. When she caught him watch, he just grinned from ear to ear.
“You look particularly lovely tonight, you know that?” he smirked as he leaned over and kissed her softly.

Jorge was patient, but he really could not stop his pacing. His mind wanted to fall back to think that maybe he was wrong that he shouldn’t go through with this. Not at all because he didn’t love Gemma deeply, but more out of fear that he really did not know how she was going to react. Was she going to be happy? Would she be terrified? Again and again he had the argument with himself about this evening to the point that he almost felt like he was on a merry-go-round! Deep down he knew he shouldn’t over think it but…it was just too hard not to.
He sighed as he glanced at his watch. Nope, still on time, she was not late in the least. Maybe Jorge was not as patient as he originally thought he was, though. For whatever reason he really just wanted to get this evening started before he actually did entertain thoughts of backing ou—
Movement occurred out of the corner of his eye. And he turned, with a smile, to see Gemma Taylor crossing the lobby of the mansion in order to meet him. As usual…she looked absolutely stunning. It was in that second, the moment he looked at that face, those eyes, that he remembered everything that they had ever gone through since they first started dating.
He loved this woman, and he wanted to marry her. There would be no backing out of this evening and he would take her answer, whatever it may be…
>> "Oh good, cavalry is here…Let's run before they catch up to us."
A chuckle fell from his lips as he gently leaned over to give her a hug. The pair of them had been so busy that they most definitely needed this date night. A quick kiss and he still embraced her as he leaned back, arching a brow little suspiciously (thought still grinning).
“Catch up to us, huh? Why, Ms. Taylor, you wouldn’t happen to be on the run from the law, would you?” he grinned as he turned, still keep his hand on the small of her back. Gently he steered her towards the front door of the mansion. “Come on, Gem, your getaway car is waiting for you outside.”

The movement was so fast that Jorge had nearly missed it. A sudden raising of the man’s palm and Jorge watched as a something that he could only describe as being a harpoon shot forth. The detective, a bit faster than he expected himself to be, twisted his body as quickly as he could and, thankfully, managed to dodge the pointed harpoon that sought to impale him. Sadly his movements was so jarring, and the bridge so small, that Jorge stumbled and nearly lost his balance.
Arms flailed, Jorge gasped as he forced himself to pull back and straighten up. Though all of this was more than likely part of Game Lord’s constructs, many people had lost their lives so such video game shenanigans and the detective was not about to add his name to that list. He breathed heavily, tried calm his heart but paused when he looked up to see that the Scorpion character had vanished from sight.
“Damn it,” he grumbled as he looked forward and then back behind him. No sign of the yellow clad ni—
A flash of fire and suddenly Jorge gasped as he felt a punch to the back of his head. Jorge tumbled forward, on the bridge, but managed to regain his footing rather quickly. That was a sudden and cheap shot! He spun around to see Scorpion standing there, his pale eyes narrowed in challenge. But before the detective could move, the ninja turned and made to flee in the opposite direction…only the disappear into shadows and another burst of flames.
Sh*t!! he mentally yelled.
He spun around and put his arms up to block (a boxer’s stance) and, sure enough, the yellow ninja appeared in another burst of flames, lunging forward for a punch. So the ninja was a teleporter who liked to sucker punch, huh? Jorge had blocked the move, which momentarily caught the ninja off guard which was all he needed.
His hands sprung out and latched onto Scorpion’s wrists. Quickly Jorge lunged forward and slammed his forehead into his opponent’s face. Pain and rage fueled him now, watching as Scorpion staggered backwards, urging him to jump on the attack. Jorge followed up his head butt with two extremely quick jabs to the man’s face and quick punch to the man’s bread basket! Each punch was hard, fast, and connected with harsh sound that would have made the strongest of men shudder.
Scorpion gasped as he stumbled down to his knee, hand held against his chest. Jorge narrowed his eyes as he kept his fists up, ready to continue to fight. He hoped that maybe, hopefully, the ninja was going to just call it quits. But he doubted that Game Lord was going to allow something like that. That was far too simply. No…his constructs fought to the death.
That was probably why, as Scorpion stood up, that his hands suddenly started to crackle with fire. It was only then that, as Jorge looked down, he noticed that the spot underneath his shoes were was beginning to feel very hot…

The badge was left in front of him and Jorge watched as the boy struggled to come up with another question. He was quickly beginning to realize exactly how hard this was for him. Maybe he should have just had a child psychologist work with the boy to get these question answered instead of coming to him himself. But, Jorge knew the mansion, and its residents, far better than any child psych would. He dealt, specially with mutant, he would know just a tad bit more about working with a mutant who had gone through such trauma than anyone else.
At least that is what he told himself as he worked with cases like Michael’s. The boy had gone through such terrible abuse. So far he was keeping him from completely breaking down and Jorge hoped that he could keep that up. He did not want to lose this boy to his memories.
Thankfully, though, the game continued as Michael, after some more struggling, finally managed to come up with a question to ask. Jorge was a patient man, he just didn’t want Michael to get further traumatized by having to remember everything that happened. But at least the attention was off of Michael again, just long enough for him to recuperate (or so he hoped).
>> “Did…did anyone ever…hurt Mr. Police…policeman?”
Jorge thought about Michael’s question for a minute. At first he was not sure exactly what Mikey was asking of him but slowly it dawned on him; he wanted to know if Jorge had gone through similar abuse. Had the boy known Jorge’s parents, the answer would have quickly been made apparent; it was a resounding ‘no’! The detective had loving, caring, parents as he grew up, who only wanted to give him everything that they didn’t have when growing up. On top of that, once his mutation developed, they were more than supportive.
No, Jorge didn’t have the kind of experiences that Michael had; but he had seen others go through just as bad…if not worse…
He shook his head as an initial answer.
“No, that didn’t happen to Mr. Police,” he responded. Then…he took a breath before he continued. “But Michael, I’ve seen…a lot of children go through similar experiences. You are not alone. And…it was none of their faults…just like what you went through isn’t your fault.” he tried his best to explain. “Sometimes…mommies and daddies, they can be wrong, and they can be bad. A lot of those times…it has nothing to do with the what a child has or hasn’t done. It’s sad but…it just happens.” He sighed as he glanced between the bear and boy before he adverted his gaze. Would he ever understand it was not his fault? Jorge had faith he would, but one glance at the scars and wounds he bore, and he knew it would be a long and difficult road…

>> "You are right, it is not my place to pass judgement upon others. That is the place of god, and court rooms... But, what type of a person would I be if I took my life and ran with it, without trying to help other victims? I would be shallow, selfish, and cruel."
Jorge said nothing. It was evident that really nothing he said was going to appease Andrea or how she felt about this matter. She blamed herself for surviving and as much as Jorge did not want her to believe that, he was not a psychiatrist. He could only smile a little sadly and try to be as encouraging as possible to her. She made up her mind that she should have done something when she had the chance, but no matter how many times she beats herself up over that, there is nothing that she could do to change it. It was done and she needed to move on. Jorge couldn’t be the one to facilitate it though.
He only squeezed her shoulder on last time before he retracted his hand and say back against the bench, staring out at all the people who wandered left and right. So far absolutely no one looked like the Lion Man that he knew. He really needed to stop watching random crowds for him…
>> "Everybody holds you, as an officer, to very high expectations. You are supposed to pit yourself against terrible people, give your life if need be... But we must all do our part. It is more than just surviving... It is living as one. We must all think past ourselves to the greater good, should we not? If we all just survivedthere would be no police. There would be no army, no X men, no heroes…I would not be able to live with myself if I did not attempt to offer a helping hand, even if it is just in re-count my story before a judge."
She did have a point. There were a lot of people out there who were not cops who tried their damnedest to make the world a better place. They put their own lives at risk, they faced the greatest fears that the world had and yet they kept coming; they didn’t always receive pay or benefits but people still fought on. Jorge looked up to them. What was sad was that Andrea did not count herself among those people. She was strong and her strength was an inspiration.
It made his job worthwhile. But he didn’t say so just yet. Instead he continued to survey the rest of the park in front of him.
>> "I... think I am no longer making sense.... Can you tell me if the other mutant is doing alright...? Maybe I could meet... him? Her?... one of these days, though I fear I would not make for very good conversation..."
He smiled a little. A meeting like that would definitely be interesting. He wondered if he could be able to indeed set up a meeting between Gina and Andrea. After all, with both having similar incidents in their lives, maybe they could find some kind of solace in each other? That was definitely something that he should check into.
“I’ll see what I can do,” Jorge said with a nod. “And…she is doing fine. I see her quite a few times and, while she still is a bit timid about what happened, she is starting to move on. But, she did have it nearly as bad as you Andrea. Almost just as bad…” he muttered as he thought about everything the two girls had gone through. He was going to find this psychopath; if it took everything he had, he was going to find him…

Jorge…was a wreck. That was probably the best way to describe the man. It had been days since he had spoken to Chase and; with the boy’s blessing, he struggled to find the perfect way to actually perform this task. He was going to ask Gemma Taylor, a woman he had been dating for well over a year-and-a-half now to marry him. He had to somehow make the night special but, honestly, the detective was a little unsure of what would constitute perfect. Would it be something memorable? Something important to just her? Just him? Maybe it was some elusive combination of all of that.
In the end, Jorge did actually find a combination of things that both reminded him of Gemma and their relationship. He had pulled strings and managed to get a day off that would coincide with his girlfriend’s days off and, after convincing her that Chase would be fine for the evening with his friends (thankfully Chase already had an idea of what would be going on), Jorge managed to get a date alone with this absolutely beautiful woman that meant so much to him.
So…the day was set, the time was set, the evening was going to be a surprise. All he told Gemma was that he was whisking her away for a much needed date night and for her to dress nice (not that she didn’t dress nice all the time and all! Sigh, he really needed to stop being so nervous!). He sighed and shook his head. He really needed to hold himself together. It was a hard thing to do though.
The detective had thought and thought about whether or not this was the right decision. After all, Gemma Taylor was a beautiful, loving woman, but she had done the marriage thing before, even had two kids with the man before they were divorced; what made him think that she would want to go through such a thing again with a new man? What if she had secretly hoped that he never asked her? After all, it is not like he was doing this out of hints she dropped or pressure or anything. To be honest, she had never once broached the subject to him.
Maybe he was wrong. Maybe this was not what she wanted…
“Ugh, stop it, Jorge. Just…stop it,” the man grumbled as he ran his hand over his beard and mustache. He was not going to psyche himself out of this tonight. Though he secretly prayed that Gemma would say yes, he was prepared for the obvious alternative to the answer.
Pacing back and forth in the foyer of the mansion, Jorge Cervantes looked rather dashing in his black suit with black shirt underneath and equally dark slacks. He didn’t go completely formal by adding a tie or making it a tux or something (he was sure that probably would have tipped her off) but he still managed to pull off the look by appearing pretty well put together.
But that was not all the man wore. Deep in his breast pocket, he felt it press hard against his chest, the tiny, black felt box that he had been carrying nearly every day now. The box containing the ring that he would present to Gemma felt heavier than it should, but the detective didn’t fiddle with it. Obviously the last thing he wanted was to draw attention to that particular pocket.
Wow, he really needed to calm down. He pulled up his sleeve to check his watch. There was still plenty of time but he glanced at the stairs anyway. He never could wait to see her walk down those steps in her elegant manner…

The detective paused and surveyed his surroundings. Everything looked so small and fantasy-like. The stone bridge lacked a railing but was lined with spikes and skulls and various other evil signs. A volcano in the distance seemed to constantly be spewing molten rock while a large, heavy moon huge in the sky and offered light to this most nightmarish of settings. Jorge was not liking the looks of this. He turned and spied the opening that he had just walked through was now sealed with spiked bars of iron and steel. There was no leaving in that direction.
A glance down the length of the bridge and he paused as he saw another opening on the other end, only this one was not barred. Of course he would have to cross.
He peered over the edge and was nearly overtaken by vertigo. The fall was long and…were those spikes he saw at the bottom.
“You’ve got to be KIDDING me!” Jorge shouted to the heavens. This was going on long enough. Jaw clenched, Jorge steeled himself up and began to long walk forward. “I swear, I’m going to throttle you myself, Game Lord!!”
“You should worry move about me!”
Jorge paused as, in the opening ahead, he saw a pair of fierce, pale eyes staring at him. The moved force, slowly until a form walked out of the darkness. There, stood, another interestingly dressed man. This one looked like some undead ninja/samurai or something, decked out in yellow, swords strapped to his back, and dead eyes that still managed to glare.
The police officer cracked his neck to the side as he assumed a fighting stance.
“Really, buddy, you don’t want to get in my way today,” Jorge warned the video game construct. “I’m just NOT in the mood!”
The ninja laughed darkly behind his skeletal mask. As he stepped out past the doorway, suddenly bars sealed it shut that looked just as menacing as the ones from the other opening. Jorge was quickly putting it together that his only way out…was to win.
Standing on the narrow bridge, the detective glanced out of the corner of his eye and arched a brow…there were two floating red bars, one with his name written in it, and the other with the word “Scorpion.” Really? SCORPION? He shook his head as he turned back to his opponent.
“Get out of my way, last warning,” he muttered.
Scorpion’s eyed lit with amusement as he shook his head and suddenly raised his hand…

In the blackness of the room, the first thing that he noticed was the smell: blood. It was the metallic scent that automatically made him check his nose to make sure that he was not having a nosebleed or something like that. But as he kept walking forward, he soon heard the roaring of wind, felt the bitterness of cold on his skin and even the smell of smoke mixed in with death. He was already not liking where he was headed now. Still, though, he pushed on. Though he knew that Game Lord was not someone to be trusted, he really had little choice in the matter. Hopefully the longer he could keep the man distracted, maybe that would make someone down at the precinct notice his absence. Someone had to find him.
Another couple of steps and Jorge saw the glow of moonlight up ahead. He really didn’t know what he was getting into but he tapped his belt and felt the hammer still there. At least he was able to carry the weapon over.
He peered through the opening and momentarily he was blinded by the light of a very full moon that lie ahead. He staggered, blindly for a moment out into the open and breathed in the cool, disgusting air. As he stumbled, though, his eyes adjusted and suddenly he gasped.

“Wa-HOOO!” a voice suddenly called out.
Jorge spun around, awkward with the big black shell on his back, but it was still just in time to see the plumber plop down and ready himself to hurl another fireball. But the detective was not going to fall for such tricks again. Twirling the hammer in hand he smirked as he suddenly pointed it at “Mario” and unleashed another wave of hammers at the over-all wearing fat man.
“Wahh!” Mario leaped up, out of the way, and aimed his two boot heels directly on top of Jorge’s head.
Jorge barely had time to dodge out the way as Mario crushed the very brick blocks that made up the ground that they stood up upon. When he recovered is when the fight truly began. Mario punched and kicked with a speed that Jorge had vastly underestimated but the detective managed to maneuver his way around to keep from being pummeled too badly. In the end Mario had smashed the shell off of Jorge’s back, but the detective still held fiercely onto the hammer in his hand. He was not going to lose his only weapon in this twisted game.
It was not until Mario had misplaced a kick that Jorge finally found his opening. A sudden lunge forward and he rammed his shoulder into the mustache-wearing man’s chest and caused him to stumble backwards. Momentarily at a loss, Mario took a second too long to breathe. Jorge aimed the hammer again and breathed a sigh of relief.
Another trio of hammers flew out from the end and struck Mario, twice. One hit him, causing him to returned to red and blue overalls, another strike caused him to shrink, and finally, the last hit him in such a way that he actually leapt up into the air, and faded into a cloud of pixels. Jorge sighed and stood, staring at the spot the plumber disappeared from. He always willed the man to return. When he didn’t, though, the detective tucked the hammer into his belt as a strange music filled the air around him.
“Heheheheehe!! Congratulations, detective. I didn’t think you were going to figure the game out, yet,” a voice cackled in the air. In front of him, suddenly a small, brick tower rose up with a black door big enough for him to walk through. “So many fail to. Anyways! On to level two!”
Jorge growled. “I’m done, Game Lord! Show your face! You’re under arrest!”
“Ah, ah, ah! That’s not the way the game is played, detective. You get meet the final boss after the first level! So, come on, you want me, you need to get through level two…”
Jorge narrowed his eyes. He then spit with disdain off to the side before he stormed through the doorway of the tower, wondering where this mad man was going to lead him next.

Jorge
Jorge actually “EEP-ed” when he felt the fireball disintegrate against the low, brick blocks that he was hiding behind. These all may have been from video games, but damn it felt real. The detective really had no idea how he was going to get away with this. There was no water for him to exploit, he didn’t have his gun and, honestly, he doubted his hand-to-hand skills against such creatures. But there had to be something…right?
Hisssssss!!!
Another fireball was thrown and Jorge fell back as the block exploded into tiny bits and pieces. He could not allow himself to be roasted alive! There had to be something that he could use here, right? Game Lord loved to play games, he cheated, but he normally allowed his victims a fighting chance. Damn it, if only Jorge knew a little more about video games then he could use something to help him. He could definitely use Chase’s help about now.
He scurried backward as the plant reared back and readied another fireball. As he readied to dodge, Jorge suddenly lunged backward and—
THUD!!
He groaned as his head his something hard. The pain was loud and deafening and while it did daze him, he still had enough sense to roll away. A new fireball exploded against the ground where he was; he was definitely running out of steam. The blackened, charred ground was smoking so much that he had to turn away. He looked over to find the block that he had bumped his head against earlier. Though this time it was not brick looking, it was solid brown. And something actually hovered above it…
…a glowing, black, hammer.
Since it was not attacking him, he figured that it was there to do some good. So, he reached out and wrapped his hand around the handle, just as he was suddenly encased in a flash of white light. When it died down, he gasped and found himself standing upright, a hammer in his hand, and his back a little heavy. He glanced behind him to find out that he was actually wearing a black shell and wielded a black hammer.
He really, really had no idea what he was wearing ( it was a Hammer Suit), but he figured it had to be up to some good. A quick glance to the plant and it was rearing back again. Not this time. Jorge hopped over the block, dashed forward and made ready to throw the hammer. But just as he held it out, suddenly the copies of several hammers flew from his hammer and struck the plant square across it’s bulbous head.
Hiissssssss!!
The plant shriveled and gasped as it shrank down until it disappeared completely into the green pipe. Jorge smirked as he straightened up. Well…round one goes to him! Now…where was the fat man into the overalls?

Jorge
>> “So, you’d be Mama’s husband…And my daddy?”
Jorge nodded. Chase finally seemed to be connecting the dots and, thankfully, he seemed to actually be warming up to the idea. Not that the boy seemed at all terrified or objected to it or anything like that. Instead he really seemed to like the idea and wanted it happen. It was enough to really send Jorge over the moon. His biggest fear, of messing up Chase’s careful existence, was now calmed so he felt no tension over it. Now…he just needed to steel himself up for the biggest and most scariest part of this whole endeavor…asking Gemma.
But that was a heart attack to save for a later day. For now, he needed to focus his attentions on Chase. After all, the boy was sitting right in front of him.
>> “Well I know Mommy loves you…And you’re already like a daddy to me anyways. I think it would make Mommy really happy. And it makes me happy, too…So… yeah. Yes, it’s okay with me.”
Jorge beamed. Not just a small, shy smile or anything like that, but a huge grin that made him feel as if he already got that “yes” from Gemma that he was looking for. Chase was okay with the idea, so for him, all was right with the world. At least for right now.
It was an odd feeling, though, sitting here, having a conversation with a boy who could end up being one’s son. Obvious not by natural means, but through marriage, a son was still a son, right? Jorge Cervantes, police officer, MRC detective, X-Man…was going to be a father. The truth of that dawned a little brighter upon his head as he tried to keep focused. Could he handle it? What if he screwed that part up? Then again, he and Chase already had a pretty damn good relationship; this whole marriage would simply make it legal.
He blinked as Chase began to talk again…
>> “Can’t you be my real daddy though? I don’t even know what a step-father is.”
Jorge smiled, warmly, to Chase. It was an honest question, one that he had an honest answer to. He sighed as he nodded to the young mutant…
“Chase, step-father, step-son, those are just legal terms. Just something that is written on paper,” he explained. “Here,” he said as he pointed to his own chest, “and there,” he pointed to Chase’s chest (he, of course, was referring to their hearts), “I will be your real daddy...and you will be my real son. And in our hearts is where is counts the most, buddy.”
He winked and beamed happily as their waiter returned, bearing cheesy smelling mac-and-cheese and bowls of fruit.
