The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
Jorge blinked and immediately jumped away as he stared up at the largest, goofiest looking plant that he had ever seen in his life. It crept out of the green pipe he hid behind, it’s red, bulbous head was spotted with white and it opened his mouth, hissing and showing off its rows of fangs. It was like a parody of real venus fly trap or something, only this look far more dangerous than something that just squeezes bugs to death.
Hiiiissssss!!!!
It growled again, saliva dripping from its mouth before it suddenly lashed out and snapped at Jorge once, then twice! The detective gasped as he suddenly stepped back, side-stepped, and then rolled out of the way, trying to dodge the beast’s open mouth. It snapped shut on open air so many times it grew frustrated and reared back, hissing and growling even louder.
The detective returned to his footing and tried to keep himself loose and ready to dash in either direction should he need to.
“You are one…ugly…mothe—“
HHHHHIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
The beast roared into the sky before suddenly it lashed out again, attempting to take another bite of Jorge. The detective dashed off to the side and soon realized that he was out of the creature’s reach. He took a second to breath in relief when, he noticed the plant inhaling and puckering its lips. A red glow could be seen from between its teeth and, suddenly, he felt things around him get hotter. This was definitely not a good feel.
“COME ON!” he shouted and ran off. Suddenly the plant shot its head forward and spit out a swirling, undulating fireball directly at him. Jorge ran as fast as he could until he managed to dive behind a series of those raised bricks that were littered about. He was ready for this to be over.

Jorge
Jorge arched a brow.
“Mario?” he replied.
He looked at the VERY oddly shaped man and shook his head. He was not liking this at all. Obviously this was from one of Game Lord’s games but to which Jorge had no idea. The name sounded familiar but whatever he was from, the detective had long since forgotten. He really was not the video game type of person. Instead he shook his head as he kept his defensive stance, glaring at the vastly disproportionate man.
“Listen, um, Mario, I really don’t hav—SHII--!!!!” the detective leapt to the side and suddenly the fat man in overalls hurled a fireball at him.
A strange sound follow each time the man hurled another fireball and another and another to the point that the detective knew to keep running over the pixilated landscape and not look back every time he heard the sound echo out from behind him. He could feel the heat from the fireballs so he knew they that probably hurt enough like the real thing. But there was only so many places that he could run to. Still, he found one of those large, green pipes and quickly scooted behind it as another ball of flames smashed against the metal and fizzled out.
He breathed a sigh of relief as he remained behind the pipe, trying to look around for anything that could help him. There was no water nearby that he could use. If there was then he would more than likely have been able to sense it. Unfortunately he was feeling absolutely none of it right now. That meant that either there was no water around or somehow Game Lord was messing with his head.
Hissssssssssssss!!!
Jorge arched a brow as he turned his head. Where was that hissing coming from…

Jorge
Jorge explained and watched the boy closely. It seemed that at a point or two he made Chase a little nervous but the kid quickly caught on that that was never his intention. And really, it was not. Jorge did not mean to put the boy on the spot or anything, but this was going to be a significant change and, more than likely, he was going to have to adapt all over again to a new member of the family. That was why he was asking him for permission. He did not want Chase to at all feel like whatever concerns he may have had were not going to be voiced. That was what this meeting was about, to make sure that Chase was okay with this.
When the boy smiled, it was enough to cause a sensation of relief to wash over him. Chase seemed fine so far, that was at least a plus. But soon his face twisted into an expression of confusion as he looked at Jorge closely.
>> “I thought you already were part of the family…I didn’t know you had to ask permission.”
It was comments like that that really struck Jorge hard. It was so simply and yet so powerful at the same time. Chase assumed they were all pretty much a family already; he didn’t have worries about legalities, ceremonies, things like that. To him, they were a family and had always been one. The detective couldn’t help the smile on his face as he watched the boy, the same boy who used to be so shy and scared of him, who worried that he was going to snatch him up and drag him back to his horrible home life. The pair of them and grown on their own.
Wasn’t that what a family was all about? Growing together? Loving each other? Accepting one another and having one another’s back when need be? Jorge trusted Gemma implicitly and he could definitely say the same thing about Chase. In a way, Chase’s statement actually confirmed for the detective that he felt exactly the same way.
They were a family. Jorge was just wanted to make sure it was legal.
He smirked as he nodded.
“I’m happy to be a part of your family, Chase,” he smiled. “What I mean is…I would like to make it official,” he said as he fished around in his pocket until he pulled out a small, black felt box. He sighed as he opened it and turned it around to show Chase the silver diamond ring that sat inside. “I want to ask your mother to marry me, Chase. And…that means that,” he chuckled nervously as he tried to find a right way to phrase it. “I guess…that would make me your step-father. If, you know, that is okay with you?”

Jorge
>> "He has hurt someone else...?"
Jorge nodded. Maybe he shouldn’t have told her that, it was police business after all. But she had a right to know, in his opinion. She was just as much a victim of Rafael as Gina was so it was only natural that she should have a right to know that this man was still out there, still harming others. The last thing he wanted was to find Andrea had been attacked again because she let her guard down. Of course he didn’t want her to become paranoid either, but what else could he say? She needed to be aware.
At least that was his justification for telling her this. He hoped that she wouldn’t not going completely paranoid but he wouldn’t blame her either. Whoever this Rafael, Lion Man, whatever his real name was turned out to be, he was a real monster and he needed to be stopped at all costs.
>> "...I should have stopped him...I had a chance to do it... but I did not. If I had, he could not have hurt anyone else...There are a great many things in this world that I have been taught to ignore, overlook, or forgive.... but I do not think I can forgive this man for everything he has done…I will forgive him for the harm he has bestowed upon me... I am not so lost that I cannot at least relent that. But... I will never forgive him, or any like him, for hurting others.”
His heart was tugged at by her words. It was not fair of her to make the assumption that she should have done anything to stop him. Yes, she had power that he was well aware of. But it was not her job to use them for such a purpose. She did what she had to in order to survive and she was not a killer like that man was. If she ever took a life, he didn’t know, but the less it was done, the better; even if the man deserved it.
It was not Andrea’s job or duty to proclaim justice on the Lion Man; therefore she should not have had any guilt over not doing anything to end his life when she had the chance. But try telling her that. The knowledge that he harmed others, that he was still running around free, it was bound to instill her with the smallest bit of guilt.
>> "I wish it were so easy, to forget... As much as it shames me, I know that I would not hesitate to let every terrible thing that has ever happened tumble out from inside my head, never to return...But.. I would only be harming myself in doing so, as well as others. I did not act back then, when I had the chance, but I will not pass up the opportunity to be of some use when you catch him..."
He shook his head as he reached over and gently squeezed her shoulder (while trying to avoid to antagonized snakes).
“Andrea, it was not your job to pass judgment on him,” he tried to explain. “You did the most important thing that you could have done…you lived, you survived,” he sighed as he retracted his hand and looked out over the rest of the park. “No one can ask more of you than that; even you.”
Survivor’s guilt was always tough. He hoped, eventually, that she would get over it…

>> "That is very true...Though... I cannot be held responsible for any of the terribly silly things that I must have said."
He smirked. To be quite honest he did not remember much either about anything she said, at least things that did not pertain to the case. He did remember that out of everyone that she could have called for help, she called him. He did care for her greatly and hoped that she was sincerely doing well with her life now that things seemed to be calming down for her. After all, how does one simply move on from an attack like without have a mental scar or two?
But…she seemed to be doing well. She had not even asked anything about what had happened to her! Normally a victim, by now, would have asked if there had been any breaks in the case. Maybe Andrea had really moved on to a point that she could leave it all behind her…
>> "...Did... did you ever find him...?"
Or not.
The detective sighed a little. He hated this part of the job, telling people like Andrea that there were still no answers, still no justice after everything that had been done to them. It simply was not fair because they didn’t deserve that. Andrea and other victims like her deserved to have to peace of mind that their attackers were behind bars. It killed him that he could not deliver that same news to her.
>> "..I... I know it is not easy... and I do not expect you, or anyone else, to run yourself into the ground to find that man... but the thought that he is out there, possibly hurting someone else...I... am sorry. That came out different than I had wanted it to. You have done more for me that I ever would have asked of you, and I do not want to seem ungrateful..."
He nodded as he gave her an understanding smile in response. It was obvious that he was going to have a hard time getting her feelings together concerning this matter. But it struck him when she had stated that she didn’t want this man hurting anyone else; he already did. Gina was another of his victims, and probably countless others. He doubted the man actually stopped in his endeavors simply because Gina and Andrea got away.
Gently he shook his head towards Andrea.
“You don’t seem ungrateful, I understand,” he said with a nod. “Sometimes, after something like what you went through, the best thing you can think of is to just forget it ever happened.” he shook his head a little sadly. “No, we don’t have him, yet. At most…we have a possible name but so far it is proving to be little more than an alias. And…the only reason that we learned that much was because he attacked someone else. Another young mutant,” Jorge explained. That was also why he wanted to meet with her…to warn her that indeed the Lion Man was still out and about. “Andrea, I do hope that you are being careful with yourself…”

>> “Sure, No problem… What’s up?”
The kid was straight to the point. Jorge had to definitely be thankful for that. That was one of thing he really liked about this kid was that he took things in stride. Though Jorge should not have just expected the kid to not get a little tense with what he was going to propose, he was glad that Chase didn’t lose his cool. He was as cool and calm as a cucumber. Jorge could only wish he had that type of strength when he was on the job.
But he needed to stop. The conversation had shifted back to him and he needed to be ready to do this. Maybe it would have been better if he waited until after they had eaten something? Damn him for being so quick on the draw with this kind of stuff.
He really, really hoped that Chase was going to be okay with this. Otherwise it was going to be an extremely awkward ride back home.
Ahem he cleared his throat lightly. There was probably no time like the present to get this started.
“Chase, buddy,” Jorge started. “You know…I care for you a lot. I really do. You and I have a lot of fun and…I really enjoy our relationship. The last thing I want is to change things but…”
He sighed as he tried to think of the right words to say. How could he just come out and say that he was going to be changing this child’s world forever? After all, Chase seemed to be thriving with just him and Gemma; would he really want to deal with the sudden addition of a new adult? A new person in his life who would pretty much be his father?
“I really love your mother,” he explained. “So much so that…I would like to make a family with her…and you.” He finished with the warmest of smiles. “I want to ask your permission to join your family, Chase.” That was the plainest he could probably say it. And god that was probably the most exhausting thing he had done yet. In the end, he tilted his head as he looked over to the boy. “What do you think?”

Jorge
Jorge looked up as their waiter appeared. The man was…colorfully dressed to say the least, but on top of that he was a chipper as a bluejay first thing in the morning. He had turned, bright smile on his face, as he asked Chase for his order. While he did so, Jorge turned back to his own menu and really tried to decide what he wanted. He was simply not sure of it but it really did seem like he should go with Chase’s opinion.
>> “May I please have, uh, The mac’ n’ cheese?”
>> “Sure thing, sport! What would you like to go with that?”
>> “The… fruit, and the sweet apples, please?”
>> “And what would you like to have, sir?”
Jorge nodded with a small smile.
“I’ll have the same. But make mine with a root beer, please?” Jorge said as he collected the menus and handed them back over to the water. The man quickly nodded and skittered away to put in their order and grab their drinks.
Once he was gone, Jorge turned his attention back to ideally surveying the rest of the menus on the table and checking on the puzzle that Chase was working on. He himself was rather good with puzzles, but Chase seemed to be enjoying his time figuring out the game on his own that the detective really did not want to bother him. It was surprisingly important for him that he did not irritate Chase right now, especially since he really did not have any clue how the boy was going to react to his question.
He lounged for a second, trying to think on how he could segue into the very important question he had on his mind. It was not until after their drinks arrived and were placed in front of the that he made the decision; maybe it was just best to be blunt? Well, not too blunt, Chase was 9, after all. So, honestly, there was really no point in just dragging it out, right?
He took a sip of his soda before he turned his gaze onto Chase.
“Hey Chase, ugh,” he said as he idly scratched the back of his head. “listen, I need to talk to you about something. And, I don’t want you to freak out or anything, okay? But…would you mind if I asked your opinion on something rather important.”

Jorge
>> "Ice Age does not have singing…But, y'know, I hear screaming is acceptable as music too these days."
Jorge smirked a little but said nothing in response. He was just a little too preoccupied with the several larger wolves that were staring him down. The odds were really not in their favor but what was he really supposed to do? As awesome as it would be for him to announce that “Hey! I punched a wolf!” that was obviously not the best option for him at the moment. He needed to get to that water source that he could sense up ahead.
The beasts snarled at snapped in their directions but none of them had made a move towards them. Instead they all seemed to be hanging back, as if waiting for exactly the right moment (or word from their leader). Teeth bared, eyes focused, they looked like truly malevolent beasts that wanted nothing more than to rend their flesh from their bones. It was a horrible course of circumstances but, unfortunately, they needed to adapt.
The boy notched an arrow and Jorge saw the wolves instantly snap to attention and burn their gazes into Gawain’s body…
>> "Oh. Right…Those, kids, are dire wolves. Useful as mascots for holier-than-thou pseudo-medieval families, top of the food chain around here. You got that water yet?"
He shrugged as he turned back around to the water source he felt up ahead. There, of course, was another large, very white wolf that looked particularly mean and snappy. An eyebrow arched as he glanced to Mirror.
“Why, you thirsty?” he smirked. “Keep those busy as long as I can. I’ll be right back!”
With that he man bolted, running straight for the source of water he felt and the snarling albino wolf and snapped and growled at him. This…was going to turn out to be interesting.

Jorge
The darkness in the next room was disorienting at first. Jorge didn’t know how deep the room went, how big it was, or even if there was anyone else in there or if he was completely by himself. It was rather disturbing and a circumstance that he truly and deeply just did not want to be in. But unfortunately he really didn’t have a choice in the manner. There was no other way out of that white room and while he would have loved to call for back up, he knew that it was impossible. No cell phone, no x-communicator, no nothing. The man was on his own until he could get out.
Breath held, the detective eyed the darkness and peered about, trying to see anything in his inky blackness. He did not want some two-bit thug to get the drop on him now. Not after everything he had done for the MRC, not after just getting ready to start a life with both Gemma and Chase. He was not going to die here.
Fist clenched, he snarled a little as he whipped about, trying to orient himself to anything. Then, as he felt he gone on long enough, there was a suddenly illumination.
Jorge hissed and covered his eyes from the suddenly brightness. When he finally did caution to uncover them, he blinked…and noticed a lot of blue. He was standing in a rather massive looking space with blue skies…blocky white clouds, green hills and green pipes sticking up and out of a brick colored ground? Jorge felt his senses being thrown for a loop as he tried to make heads or tails of what he was standing in, but unfortunately his mind simply refused to wrap around it. This had to be one of Game Lord psychic worlds.
“Great,” he grumbled as he looked up to notice the word “World 1-1” hover in the air. “What the hell is this supposed to be,” he said through ground teeth.
It was as he began to step forward and suddenly he heard a rather strange sound. It almost sounded like a spring, or a pogo stick…or…jumping?
Jorge turned, trying to find the sound of the sound until he looked over to some brick blocks that were floating in the air and noticed a shape leaping, somersaulting, and shouting “Ya-hooo!” over and over again. The detective slowly backed up took a more defense posture as he waited. Finally, with another leaping sound, the creature landed in front of him.
The man, dressed in white shirt and hat, and red overalls, stood proudly as he twitched his mustache. Suddenly he grinned as he lifted his hand and, with a spark, fire formed in his palm. Jorge blinked and backed up as suddenly the creature hurled his hand forward, lobbing the fireball straight at him.

Jorge
Game Lord…Jorge had been looking for this man for at least a solid year now. About a year ago he was called in on a case; one that involved a former snitch who was found dead in an alley. It led to a rather interesting encounter in which Jorge fought what many had described as a “video game character”, some female elf creature by the name of Lynk. At first Jorge didn’t believe it but after digging deeper into the case he found out that the person behind it was a criminal, a crazed, self-proclaimed mob boss by the name of Simon LaRourke, aka, Game Lord.
LaRourke came from the west coast and was mutant with a rather terrifying ability. It turned out that the man had a certain type of psonic power to manifest video game characters and/or settings into the real world. They were illusions but they were illusions that could definitely kill (as evident from the previous case). Rather insane by nature, LaRourke cut connections with his past and fully encompassed himself in the persona of Game Lord, a rather insane, child-like, and maniacal creature that took pleasure in torture his victims with horrendous mind games.
The man left a large death toll in his wake and now he was setting up roots in New York City. Jorge had been chasing the man for awhile now and he was just now remembering why he was in this situation. His location had been traced to a certain series of abandoned warehouses. The detective had only arrive to confirm the man’s presence and then call back to the precinct for back up.
Apparently he never got that chance.
That was why he was in the white room, that was why he was stepping cautiously to the white door, and that was why he tried to steel himself up for whatever came his way.

Jorge
With a gasp, Jorge awoke and was blinded by the light of an overhead light bulb. So deep was his gasp for breath that his lungs screamed at him, greedy for more oxygen. But the series of coughs that followed made it harder for him to breathe, to the point that he was struggling to keep his breathing stable. When he finally did manage it, he sighed as he placed his hand over his chest and massaged the muscles, trying to ease the pain from his lungs. It took a couple seconds but finally his coughing stopped and he could breathe normally.
Slowly he opened his eyes but winced at the brightness of that cursed lightbulb. It really was far too bright to be normal. Or maybe his eyes were just sensitive. Either way, his inability to really open them had caused a miniature sense of panic since he could not just sit here with his eyes closed. He needed to see what was going on.
Gently he massaged his eyes lids before she cautioned to open his eyes. The room was bright still but slowly it came into focus until finally he could squint without making his eyes water. His resistance to the light built up, little by little, until finally he opened his eyes all the way with a satisfied groan. Still sore but definitely feeling better.
When he finally managed to open them the whole way, he blinked when he realized that he was actually in a rather small room.
A glance down and Jorge saw that he was sitting back on a recliner, but one that was completely old, tattered, that looked as if it was ready to fall apart. The odd thing, though, was that he was not tied down to it, nor was he at all bound in away. Except for his sensitive eyes and the dull pain on the back of his head, the detective did not seem to be held against his will. But one glance at the tiny room and he could tell that this was not normal.
White. Everything was so, absolutely, white. Except for the chair it looked as if the room was new; freshly painted walls, a desk, a shelf (but no books), a computer (missing a screen), all as white and clean as fresh snow (no wonder the hanging light bulb hurt his eyes).
He stood up and turned to the only door in the room. That had to be the way out but what was he going to find on the other side? Guards? Thugs? Mutants ready to tear down anything person affiliated with the police? Automatic sentries? It was just crazy the possibilities. And, as fruitless as he knew it would be, he reached down to pat his pocket. Everything was gone (wallet, cell phone, his gun) all that he had left was his badge.
He was…on the job when this happened? Wait…WHAT exactly happened? The last he could remember…he was investigating…something…
Damn it…he couldn’t remember. This was not good.
But just as he set about trying to figure out how to get himself out of this room, he heard a click of the door and spun to see it swing up. Beyond it, he saw only more darkness, and a voice suddenly rang in his head…
“Come along, detective! Step into Level One.”
It was then that Jorge began to remember and he snarled as he spit out the one name he knew would be connect to all this…
“Game Lord,” he growled disdainfully. He knew he was in trouble now…
