The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tarin didn't answer her question. Well, he did, but not verbally. The grin that he gave her after she had said that she was alright told Lee that Tarin was alright.
Before Lee was able to say anything else, Tarin was pushing himself up, closer to her. Not even bothering to actually get off the floor.
Lee giggled as she leaned in to kiss Tarin again. Lifting her hands, Lee put them on either side of his face as she deepened the kiss.

Once the initial shock of the fall had ended, Lee realized that they were laying on the floor just inside the doorway to her bedroom.
Tarin’s arms were still around her, and Lee’s one hand was still on his side under his shirt. Her other hand was still in Tarin’s hair, between his head and the floor. And while her hand was sore, her more pressing concern at the moment was that they were no longer kissing.
”You okay?”
Lee nodded, releasing his hair and shifting as Tarin pushed himself up onto his elbows. ”Yeah, are you?” she asked. He was the one who had hit the floor. She’d just landed on him.

As her hand moved up Tarin’s side, Lee felt him tightening his arms around her, trying to pull her even closer if possible. Lee’s breath caught in her throat as she tried to slide her hand around to Tarin’s back, but was unable to because he was pressed against the door.
When she heard Tarin moan into the kiss, Lee felt a shudder run through the entire body. Wherever Tarin had been trying to get them, they needed to get there. Quickly.
Suddenly, they were moving. But not the way Lee had been expecting. She was still moving toward Tarin, still pressing close against him. They were also falling.
It was so unexpected that Lee didn’t even have a chance to react before Tarin had hit the floor with her landing on top of him.

When they started moving again, even with how distracted and occupied Lee’s brain was with Tarin and the kissing, she noticed that they were moving quite a bit faster than they had been. The fact that they were moving faster wasn’t a problem. In fact it was a very good thing. The problem was that she was trying to walk that fast while standing up on her toes and pressed so tightly against Tarin.
He also didn’t seem to care that much; his arms around her pulling her with him when she wasn’t moving fast enough even as the kiss had become more urgent and passionate.
They ran into something, the sudden stop of their momentum caused Lee to press even more against Tarin, and she moaned softly into the kiss. Lee didn’t even realize that one of Tarin’s arms ahad disappeared from around her.
Why were they still standing? The small part of her brain that was still forming actual thoughts wondered. Why were they still wearing so many clothes? The hand that was not in Tarin’s hair dropped down, slipping under Tarin’s shirt before sliding up his side.

Lee was up on her toes, to reach Tarin’s lips for the kiss and to be as close to him as she could be while standing. Her arms around his neck and his around her waist helping to keep her balanced.
A balance that was thrown off when Tarin seemingly suddenly turned them and started walking. It was hard to walk while they were kissing, even harder when she was pulling her up and as close to Tarin as she currently was.
But Lee couldn’t help but smile into the kiss. If Tarin was trying to get them to walk, it meant that kissing in the kitchen wasn’t enough. No matter how amazing the kissing was.
Then Lee stumbled slightly, though somehow managed to not break the kiss, and her hand tightened in Tarin’s hair. It only took Lee a moment to recover before she was walking along with Tarin again, though she didn’t loosen her grip.

Lee hadn’t even thought about her siphoning until Tarin had mentioned it, but was very glad for the reminder because the next evening, with having to go to the airport to pick Kevin up was going to lead to a long, very energized night.
But that was a problem for future Lee. Present Lee was back to being very distracted by kissing Tarin, feeling his arms wrapped around her waist.
And as she tightened her arms around Tarin’s neck to pull herself up and closer to him, the fingers of one hand slipped into the hair at the back of his head.
It was a little strange to Lee still to not feel her siphoning, not to feel any energy when she was touching someone. Never mind touching someone with this much contact. But the benefit of kissing Tarin, no matter where they were, was that it didn’t take long for Lee to forget about even that. Which was very good as every second that ticked past was making Lee wish there was more than just kissing going on.

As they stood there kissing, Lee couldn’t help but think that this was a good way to continue the night after the tension and stress she’d felt while they were cooking.
Yes, Lee knew that she hadn’t needed to be that stressed about cooking, that most people weren’t. But knowing that hadn’t stopped the tension from taking over her body as she and Tarin had cooked. And even when things had actually turned out well with dinner, there was still tension leftover in her body.
Feeling Tarin’s arms around her waist as she hugged herself closer to him, while they kissed, that stress and tension was not only leaving her body, but she was forgetting about it.
At some point later, Tarin broke the kiss and pulled back to look at her.
And reminded her to shut her siphoning off.
”Thanks,” Lee said softly. Closing her eyes for a moment, Lee shut her siphoning off. ”Now where were we?” Lee stretched up again to go back to that whole kissing thing.

Lee smiled as she heard Tarin speak. ”I love you, too,” she said softly. As she stood there, and felt Tarin’s free arm wrapping around her waist to pull her closer, Lee moved the hand on his shoulder to wrap her arm around the back of his neck.
But then Tarin was leaning closer as he spoke. Lee smiled wider even as she bit her bottom lip, looking up the small distance to Tarin’s eyes.
”I like the sound of that…” Lee murmured just before Tarin closed the small distance to kiss her. Returning the kiss, Lee released Tarin’s hand, moving it up to join the other wrapped around his neck, pulling her up and closer to him.

Lee smiled when she heard Tarin’s voice and felt him grab her hand to pull her back. ”Forget baseball?” Lee asked innocently as she turned to look up at Tarin again. ”But I thought you loved baseball, Tarin?”
Shifting her hand in his so her fingers entwined with his, Lee smiled up at Tarin. She lifted her other hand up to rest it on his shoulder as she looked up and into Tarin’s green eyes. ”If we’re not going to watch baseball, and definitely aren’t going to watch either of those documentaries, then what are we going to do?”

Either the Mets game or her ‘something else’. Lee smiled as she stepped even closer to Tarin, lifting her arms to wrap them around Tarin’s neck. ”I think this something else is rather tempting,” Lee said softly as she looked up at Tarrin. ”We can watch baseball any day, afterall. Whether Kevin is here or not.”
She then stretched up to give Tarin a kiss. ”But if you really want to watch the game we can.”
That said, Lee gave a slight shrug as she let her arms drop again and started to turn so she could head to the living room for baseball.

Even though there was a fair bit of food left over, it really didn’t really take all that long for Lee to get it packed into a few containers. Passing the now empty pots over to Tarin before she turned to put the containers into the fridge.
Once everything was put away, Lee stepped over to Tarin, who was still washing dishes. There certainly were a lot more to wash with cooking yourself. Since she couldn’t exactly help with the washing, Lee grabbed a towel and started drying and putting away dishes.
It really didn’t take too long for everything to be washed, and as she handed Tarin the towel so he could dry his hands, she smiled up at him. ”So,” she said. ”Mets game, documentary, or something else?”

Lee laughed as Tarin suggested how they tell Kevin that they had made the chicken alfredo. Video of his reaction and all. ”That’s a great idea,” Lee replied. ”I wish I had one of when he tasted the pie and realized that it was good.”
She was going to get to pick the recipe for the next time they cooked. How was she supposed to know what recipe would be simple enough for them to make? Were there recipes that had better directions than what they had made tonight? Was she going to have to go through hundreds of recipes to find one that not only made sense, but was simple?
Seeing the smile on Tarin’s face, Lee knew he had suggested it as a way to make it easier, better. For her.And maybe the actual cooking would be better, less tense and stressful if she picked the recipe.
”Ok,” she said with a nod, then laughed slightly again as Tarin listed off other things that they could do. ”You know, I think there’s two new soul crushing documentaries that we can choose from. Or watch both for double soul crushing.”
Tarin was finished eating now, and was gathering up his dishes. Lee shook her head. ”No, I think I’m good,” she replied. As Tarin made his way to the kitchen, Lee ate the rest of her pasta and followed him a minute later.
”We do still have a fair bit left, don’t we?” Lee asked, pulling out containers for the leftovers as Tarin put the extra ingredients away.

Tarin’s excitement and assurance that this was something different but fun that they could try before Kevin got back home is why Lee had agreed to try this. But the difficulty at the grocery store, and then the overwhelm of realizing they realy didn’t know what they were doing as they had stood in the kitchen looking at the ingredients on the counter had brought back the reasons why Lee didn’t, and really had never, cooked.
Yet they had done it. And though Lee had been more tense than she had initially expected to be, it had kind of been fun.
”You know, even if we leave him leftovers, I doubt Kevin will believe that I helped make this,” Lee said. But then Tarin pointed out that the next time things would work out even better.
Only a small worm of apprehension moved through her, much less than she had been feeling in the kitchen earlier. Tarin was right. This had worked out well, despite the early failure with the chicken, and it didn’t have to be a one time thing. They could cook together again like this.
And maybe now that she knew she was actually able to do it, it might be more fun. ”Just let me actually see the recipe beforehand next time?” she asked. Hopefully that would help as well.
It was then quiet for a few minutes as they ate. Ate the food that they had made.
What were they going to do with the rest of the evening, though? ”Watching the game is one option,” Lee agreed. Then she smiled across the table at Tarin. ”This is our last night with the apartment to ourselves. I’m sure we’ll be able to come up with something.”

They did do everything in order, at least as it was written, and somehow it had worked out despite the fact that she and Tarin had been left with questions on when to do things and what certain directions meant.
It was almost unbelievable that they were sitting there eating food they had made, that she had helped with making, food that was more than throwing something in the oven for the amount of time the box said. And that the food they were eating was not only edible, but it was GOOD.
”Honestly, this is something I never thought I’d be doing,” Lee said before taking another bite of food. And she shook her head slightly, still marvelling over all of it.

Tarin had been worried when the pasta was all stuck together as well? Good thing he didn’t say anything about that, Lee thought. Not that she would have completely given up at that point, but she definitely wouldn’t have been smiling and be hugging Tarin like this right now.
”Well, if the directions had been a little more clear on how and when to do things, we could have had it timed better,” Lee pointed out. Because that part was clearly not their fault in any way. The directions had not been good enough.
But they were done, and it was supposed to be their dinner, and there was no way to know for sure how it had turned out without actually eating it. And while Lee was happily surprised that it seemed they had made a good dinner, there was a part of her that was still apprehensive about it.
Tarin was already grabbing plates, and just a few minutes later they were sitting at the table with the chicken alfredo sitting in front of them.
”Together?”
Lee nodded, a little nervous as she picked up her own fork.
And took a bite.
Lee chewed for a few seconds before her eyes widened in surprise. ”This is actually good,” she said once she had swallowed the food in her mouth.
