The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tori kept her distance. She didn't need to be told twice about the dangers of electricity and then there was the fact that he said he had little control over it. Then the factor that electricity was actually one of her powers weaknesses as it could just carve its way through any solid object she could manipulate. Tori was hoping she would never have to battle an electric user, but we didn't always get to choose our battles.
Tori closed her eyes at the suggestion and waited for the light to die down before reopening them. Will had said there would be something cool in the sand now and Tori didn't know what that would be as she was hesitant to approach. Was she supposed to do something now too? Tori obviously wasn't a telepath and she was kinda glad she wasn't. Everyone's thoughts inside your head? Tori had a bad enough time sorting out her own thoughts let alone all the thoughts around her so respect to telepaths.

Tori suddenly grinned really big even showcasing her pretty white teeth she kept clean regularly as she got the idea Will was getting at.
"I see where you're getting at. Let's do it!"
Tori followed Will over to the sand based basketball court and then looked down to the sand. As luck would have it sand was one of four substances that she could manipulate that belonged to the soil of the earth. Tori lifted up her hands and carefully removed a medium size square out of the sand court and lifted it high up in the air for Will to hit.

Tori couldn't help but let out a big old giggle at how much fun Will was having with her powers. Or more specifically her ability to fly on a solid platform of dirt. She had read about the theory of geokinetic flight in the past, but never had the opportunity to test it out for herself until she came into her powers. It was interesting how something she once dreaded having immediately after the earthquake could bring so many people joy just displaying it.
"I'd do it more often, but you know the whole flying on a patch of land thing kinda turns some heads in the big old community."
Though it didn't stop her from doing it when she was in her Gaia costume since the helmet and goggles helped protect her identity from people who would want to do her and her family and friends some harm. After her mother found out about her sneaking out at night and fighting crime she simply said, "Real life is not a comic book. There are consequences to fighting crime in the real world," and as bad as Tori didn't want to admit it, her mother was right. But how else was she supposed to make up for the earthquake that killed so many people back in the plaza that she tore down? If people ever found that out they'd likely lynch her back in Kansas City.

"I'm one thirty-six so that combined with one-fifty would be..."
Tori trialed off in order to take out her green cell phone and use the calculator on her phone to determine the overall weight between them. Because who can add and subtract in their heads anymore? It was all technology based now. Don't have to learn how to count change just follow the computer. This generation was DOOMED! DOOMED I SAY!
"Two eighty-six. Not bad we're both skinny. This should be a piece of cake. Hold on."
Tori once again lifted the platform up. This time holding Will on it as well as herself, and started to circle the air right above the mansion as she shouted out, "WOOHOO!" before going up a little bit higher and then finally coming back onto the ground with a bang! Tori jumped off the piece of ground and landed back on the backyard.
"How was that? Thank you for flying Tori Airlines."

Tori paused for a moment when he asked if she could fly other people. Honestly, she didn't know. She never tried it before. Tori figured if the piece of earth was big enough to fit more than one person than maybe. But she didn't know how the weight stuff and what would work out as. But weren't they here to test their limits? So why not?
"I guess we can find out."
Tori climbed back on the piece of earth she pulled out of the ground and steadied herself on the platform before motioning for Will to follow her up.
"Hop on."
This was going to be a first time for Tori as she hasn't had passengers before. But with any luck one more extra person wouldn't be too much hassle to lift up into the air.

Tori allowed herself to smile a little bit. Whenever she successfully used her powers it made her feel good. Even if its a small application of it. He of course wanted her to try something bigger. Tori was sure the teachers here would've asked the same whenever they got around to training her. Tori wanted to be a superhero, so she couldn't shy away from bigger objects.
"My limit is a single metric ton, so six inches shouldn't be a problem."
Tori once again held her hands out over the ground and slowly began to remove a medium shaped square six inches deep from the ground and floated it up through the air. This one took a little more focus as it was heavier and she eased it towards the concrete. She took a breather and thought about what she wanted to do with it. Sometimes one of the limits to her power was just her imagination.
Tori decided to climb up on top of the piece of earth she removed from the ground and then placed a hand on the side of where she stood and begin to make it float in the air. She steered it accordingly with a hand on the side and turned around to face Will as she floated a few inches off the air. This object was a little bigger than what she normally used for platforms and gliders, but the effect was all the same as she went higher into the sky.
"Geokinetic flight. Pretty cool right?"
Tori sped around above the school for a bit before landing back on the ground and dropping off the piece of earth.

Well, when Will put it like that it didn't seem too bad. Few people got a second chance at youth. Once you're old and gray you're old and gray then you die and either go to some kind of afterlife or you're just dead. Tori believed in the latter as nothing she has seen yet has really convinced her of an afterlife, and she was certain she'd learn that once she was dead. But that's so morbid!
"Alright. Let's go then."
Tori felt herself become nervous. She always got nervous when she was about to use her powers. But at least this wasn't a combat situation where thugs were involved so there was no urgency or risk. She just needed to show a few tricks she has learned since coming into her powers and that was about it. Tori led Will outside of the mansion and into the back yard where there was plenty of earth and ground to manipulate.
"Okay. Here I go."
Tori held up both her hands and outreached her palms. She then focused her energy on the ground beneath her. In the minutes to pass she lifted up a small piece of the ground out of the grassy area and lifted it up into the air via geokinetics. Tori spun it around a bit and had it linger and float in the air for a while before she started to mold it like clay. She shaved off the edges and the bits of the ground and created a small statute of earth that resembled her favorite fictional character, Lara Croft. She then set it in her hands like it was a trophy and showed it to Will.
"Okay, so that's like a very minor use of my power, but I'm trying to learn to do small things before I do anything bigger."
Tori didn't want to mess up the yard too much with displays of her abilities. At least not yet.

It almost sounded like some kind of standup routine she heard before. "I was born in the 1960s, but in the year 2000 I was in my twenties." But it sounded like he was being dead serious. With all the things about mutants and humans Tori guessed it was possible, but it was really weird and she had no idea what to think about it.
"So, you lost a whole two decades of your life?"
That was scary. Now Tori was afraid something like that could happen to her. That she suddenly deages and is even younger than she already is and being younger than sixteen would freaking suck. Now if she was made to be twenty-one and officially old enough to drink and go to dance clubs and pick up chicks that would be great!
"Oh, well... we'd have to go outside for a bit. I don't want to break anything in here."
Tori knew that earth benders behind closed doors didn't mush well together. Not ever.

Tori blinked blankly when the guy said "in my day."
"In your day? You don't look much older than me."
Unless his power was also deaging his day would've been the same as her day. Then again that could be possible as a power. It would suck though. To deage and get younger. Well to an extent. What if you got so young you cease to exist? That would be scary. Tori would keep those thoughts to herself though.
"That's cool."
It didn't take much to impress Tori. She was a hormonal teenager after all and he was kinda cute. But that was a thought she would also keep to herself. He wanted to know her power. A fair question since she asked about his.
"I'm an earth bender. I bend the earth. You know like in Avatar."

Tori was on the final boss of the game after hours spent playing through the main story and entertaining the other students who came by to watch. Just when she was about to defeat it, the TV turned off after an electric jolt and Tori stared at it in dismay for a moment as she had no idea what was going on.
"CRAP!"
Tori grabbed the remote to see if she could turn the TV back on and after a while jiggling with it it did, but by the time it did the main boss had killed Lara and triggered a Game Over on the screen.
"My perfect streak!"
Tori sulked in her chair as the other students felt bad for her before wandering off as the hype was over. Tori then looked over to the man who apologized.
"Oh shoot! That was you? I didn't realize. Don't worry about it it's just a game and games these days have auto saves so I can start right back where I left off."
Tori stood up from her couch and went over to the man and extended her right hand to him. It was weird using her right hand as she was a south paw, but she knew that threw people off in hand shaking things to use your left so she always remembered to use her right.
"I'm Tori. I just transferred here yesterday. So, that's what you do? Electricity or something like that?"

It didn't take Tori long at all to make her way to the game systems in the living room. Being the Xbox nut she was she started playing on their Series X; some of their Xbox One games they had. And they just happen to have the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot game back when Square Enix published the property. To think she was only five years old when this game first came out and now she was sixteen.
Some of the students had came to watch Tori play. Tori had chosen the highest difficulty and was blazing through the stages in the game. Proving that this wasn't the first time Tori had played. Tori played the heck out of the Survivor Trilogy of the Tomb Raider games. They were her favorite games above all else.
"You can't get me I'm Lara Croft Tomb Raider!"
Some of the kids watching laughed as Tori continued blazing through the game's levels and showing everyone why Tomb Raider was the best game ever made. That was until...

"Social super secret what?" asked Tori confused.
He said they were all done here. That was indeed fast. Good. Tori hated paperwork and was glad she didn't have to answer many questions. The question about mutation was really the only question he posed so she was grateful for that. At some schools you basically had to give out your whole life's story. She was glad that wasn't the case here. He had offered to give her a tour. Tori was more than willing to take advantage of that offer.
"If you don't mind I would like that. I never been in a building this large before so I would hate to get lost."
Tori smiled friendly at the man. He seemed nice and would likely make a good professor. And he could probably teach her so much about Japanese anime if she was to press him enough.

Tori's eyes went crazy wide almost like an anime character when she saw the professor's power. The shard of energy colored her favorite color, green. As he explained the power she found it so cool. Of course a lot of the mutants' abilities she had read about online seemed cool. A lot more responsibility to actually wield and use them, but just reading about them on websites were pretty cool and now she was seeing someone else's power who wasn't her own in person. All around cool.
"That is so cool!"
Tori didn't even care about the bad joke. The coolness of his power well outweighed that. It made her think about what all she could do with her own power. There had to be more applications she could build upon instead of creating walls, digging tunnels, and sensing vibrations. As well as flying on platforms. Maybe she could learn all of that here.
"I'd show you my power, but I don't want to ruin the furniture."
Something she was really self-conscious about as you can imagine Earth Manipulation can have a lot of collateral damage.

Tori only smiled at the teacher's mysterious hand wave to what kind of Xbox they had. If anyone could eye what Xbox they had it would be Tori. She knew what all the Xboxes looked like and even the differences between Xbox S and Xbox X which confused her parents she had to admit. But they grew up with very different systems her parents. Xbox was the way to be, but now she had to focus on more important things like her powers.
He made a good point about either magnetic flair or a little telekinesis. Since Geokinesis was a play on that word when it came to earth bending. Tori was kind of proud of herself to have thought about flight when most earth users probably stuck to the ground because of their powers. Tori did know that earth magnetism existed, but she had no idea what that meant and even if she could tap into it. Guess she would find out here.
"That's pretty cool, but I actually went Greek with it. I chose Gaia as a name. You know, because Gaia was the Greek personification of the Earth. So that's what I went with."
If he was to look up news on the Kansas City Star he would even find an article that was dedicated to her small works in the Kansas City area with that name, but Tori thought he didn't need to know all of that just yet. She had already said too much with the name, but if this place also created heroes as well as responsible mutant citizens then surely they would support her efforts to fight crime wouldn't they? Tori wasn't sure one way or another.
"Razor blades?" she repeated curiously. Now wondering just what kind of power the teacher had.

Tori listened as the professor explained things. Tori held back on commenting on the "school work is fun" comment. As with most teens Tori could've done without school work, but it was a part of life so she usually just dealt with it. Her friend June would've said it was fun though. June was a genius and teacher pet. Of course the practice of mutant powers didn't come as a surprise, but Tori's face lit up at the Xbox statement.
"You have a Xbox? I love Xbox! I have a Xbox Series X at home. Are we talking original Xbox or Three-Sixty?"
She was genuinely curious how old they were talking about. Though Xbox One could be considered old now for all intent and purposes. Either way she was going to make use of that fairly quick. Tori loved video games and she was a big mark for Xbox. Her mood immediately changed though when he asked about mutation. Tori knew it was inevitable though. Can't have a school with mutants without knowing their mutation.
"Sure. So, I can manipulate the earth around me. Geokinetics I think is the technical term. From what I can tell I can only manipulate the earth up to five meters and about a single metric ton at a time. I've been able to mold objects like dirt, rock, and sand like clay and even made a platform for flying. It's pretty cool when it doesn't scare the crap out of me."
She was being honest. There were some perks to having superpowers. Like how she could help regular citizens. Ordinary people. That was what she wanted to do with her powers in the long term. Help people as Gaia, but her parents weren't having any of that. At least not until she learned how to control it. Tori didn't want another earthquake to happen. She could barely live with the first one. Let alone a second.
