The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The bird flapping in his face was a momentary distraction. One that caused him to activate his strength a little in case the man of ice attacked again. The air was still pretty cold from everything and with the tunnels behind him he didn’t want to be an easy target. Because let’s face it. There was nothing easy about the demi-god.
”He damaged a bank?” Sam asked watching the show after the healer Doc was done working on him. Just in time too. The icemancer was a little more confident in his abilities now that he was healed. Doc watched as the tattoo’s around Hercules person lit up.
”I did!” the giant mound of muscles said as if it wasn’t a bad thing. ”In fact that was how the Lizard Queen and I met! Though I don’t know if she is still a queen of lizards any longer now that she seems to be a bird now...” Hercules looked to the bird and studied it clear the wheels were turning as Hercules was trying to find the best name for the woman.
”I was new to the era and wasn’t exactly sure how to accumulate wealth quickly. Then I recalled I had seen a few movies recently about bank heists and why people did them. I thought my cause was just!” there was a flex as he moved to step over the broken glass. Both Sam and Doc seemed a little on edge. ”Never fear though! She stopped me with reason and hope that I could come collect... I mean use the talents of your glorious healer!”
”I... apologize for my entrances. I require your talents you see, my master’s mother is sick. In curable they say! Modern medicine can’t do anything to bring her out of the...” Hercules leaned in as if he was about to name a dangerous disease. ”A coma....” there was a dramatic pause from the giant waiting to hear the audible ‘gasp’.
The raven relayed the message and Hercules gave a meaty thumbs up with his massive thumb. She didn’t have anything else to say on the comment so he dropped it. He was on a mission after all he could flirt later.
”..... I understand...” Hercules said as he followed the corridor of ice. If he didn’t approach the school in the way that he did he would have been insulted if the ice was there. However the demi-god understood the want and need of being precautious. There were kids here after all. ”As I said before, the children have nothing to fear from me. Only those that would prevent me from my goal!” he said watching the figures on the other side of the ice cast shadows into the hallway. It reminded him of Hel, and then of his uncles realm. He pushed that thought away though, mortals had gone mad recalling those places.
”No, I am... however if the healer healed him before his mother I have no doubt someone would be kicked with his newly healed legs. The boy is quite stubborn. If we are only to heal one person he would prefer it to be his mother.” Hercules said staring forward as a few tears rolled down his face while he beamed with pride. ”My master is so selfless!”
”I’ve never been more impressed with a mortal than my current master. The qualities I hold in such high regard make up his personality. I don’t think I even had a more impressive master in all my years on this planet!” he said continuing to brag about the boy.
”I don’t believe he is.” the god said as he rounded a corner and eyed the glass doors that read infirmary, his stride increased as he moved with more purpose. ”I found those who channel magic often do not have the abilities that you’d associate with a mutant.” he scoffed, ”I find the word grotesque, we used to called them blessed or cursed. Depending on their abilities.” Hercules said recalling his earlier years. Before he joined the pantheon.
”I great deal of power and the willingness to sacrifice everything is required to materialize me in this form. Most mortals who try to tether me to this plain of existence die before I can form. But a child!” Hercules started to laugh still in disbelief, ”a child in this era!” he sighed, ”What a time to be alive!” he said before walking through the sheet of glass when it didn’t open for him in time. Hercules thought it was one of the ‘push doors’ instead of one that opened on it’s own. The glass shattered around him and he looked around hoping no one saw them. They did.
”They are more of goals, to live by in my case. They also give me an idea of who I am serving. While my main focus is you young master I am a god, one who is known for protecting mortals. From themselves, each other and from those who wish to do them harm. To only protect one person.... I tend to go stir crazy. So my first stipulation, Allow me to protect others than just yourself. Like I said you will always come first being my first master to this era.”
“Can you stop calling me that?” the boy asked clearly uncomfortable with the word.
”Second stipulation, allow me to continue to prove myself to both you and myself. I’m a god of strength and must test it regularly. If not I tend to get bored. Things get broken when I’m bored.” he as a massive figure, even in this age. He could level the hospital they were in if he chose to.
”And finally the third, if for any reason I deem you unworthy of my protection I shall sever our bond. Should I have another master my powers will shift to them making them the primary. If I don’t have one I shall cease from this plane of existence rather than serve someone I deem evil!” he said his smile fading. There were three masters he had in the past that he severed his connection to, they were all painful experiences.
Hercules was about to speak then William spoke clearly as if he had been aware of what he wanted all along. “I want to know who killed my father and tried to kill me and my mom. I want them to pay for what they did to us. I will do anything to make it so.” Hercules didn’t give the boy the lecture about digging two graves but rather held his tongue. This was an important moment for them both.
“I want my mom back. If you can’t give me my father help me figure out a way to get her back.” William didn’t say anything else but offered his hand to the demi-god a fierce look of determination and will behind it. Hercules stood, tore his shirt off with ease and flexed offering his own hand to shake with William. ”We have a pact then! I Hercules, god of strength and will shall protect you. I shall become whatever you need, friend or weapon! May I call on your power as you call upon mine!”
The air seemed to grow thicker and the lights seemed to dim as Hercules’s tattoo’s started to glow. It was soft at first but then became blinding as he held the handshake. The power Hercules’s was siphoning was great. WIlliam’s body grew heavy and his eye lids started to drop as if he was suddenly exhausted. After a moment Hercules let go of the hand and then gently caught the boy before he fell backwards onto the pillow.
”You have much power for one so young. You will grow stronger with our pact. I look forward to see the man you grow into young master!” Hercules said beaming with pride as he sat back down in the chair. ”Now rest, no harm shall come to you while I exist. This I promise and I’m a god of my word!”[/color]
The demi-god blinked and processed the comment then started to laugh again his laughter now shaking the bed. ”I didn’t know you were such a comedian!” Hercules said the laughter coming from deep inside as he shrugged off the ridiculous notion that someone didn’t want to summon a god on command. Especially him.
”I’ve toppled cities, single handedly fought back armies and decimated titans! Even the fire that seemed to try and pull you’re parents back into the crash was no match for me!” he said folding his arms and leaning back into his chair near the bed. That seemed to catch the young teenagers attention.
“What do you mean?”
”Hmmm? The flames? They were enchanted, they grew quickly and consumed the air faster than normal. Did you not see the shapes in them?” Hercules asked figuring the boy was a little distracted to see the shape of horses in the flames. Some would have thought it was a trick of the smoke in the firelight. Hercules knew though. He punched one into oblivion. Flames typically didn’t have a thick as form or hold a shape like those that he had encountered after the crash.
The look changed on the young teenager as the information was given freely he suddenly had a look of shock. “You’re telling me.... someone tried to kill my parents and me?” Hercules shrugged, ”While I can not attest to what has happened in the past I can tell you what I saw and felt. The air was thick with magic that night and not from you just summoning me. Maybe you summoned me to protect you?” Hercules mused as he too changed his facial expression though instead of concern like William, Hercules’s look was more smug. ”And protect you I shall!”
Hercules stood up and offered a hand to the young boy. ”I have protected kings, queens, gods and man everyone dies eventually, except me. You however, with my protection shall not have to worry about dying early.” The boy didn’t take his hand, “Inspiring words....” he looked down then out the window thinking.
Sitting back down Hercules waited in silence, ”As long as I deem you worthy of my power, you shall have it. I too will give everything to protect those I love.” William didn’t make eye contact but rather stared at the hole Hercules put in the wall. Only now did William realize there was a metal stud dented behind it.
“What are the stipulations?” the boy asked finally.
”Oh?” Hercules asked walking over to the raven and lowering a shoulder as the small creature jumped onto his shoulder, ”What a shame. I would have preferred in person. I remember you’re beauty fondly.” he said looking over his shoulder and smirking before walking towards the mansion entrance.
His demeanor changed once his mission progressed and he felt like he was no longer being slowed or obstructed on this trial. ”Gladly!” Hercules boomed ignoring the lizards on his person still. They didn’t harm him in any way and if he was to remove one of the lizard queen’s vessels he was going to ask permission. Like a gentleman!
”Though young William, would probably chastise me for talking about him to people he doesn't know let alone someone in a school of kids his own age.” Hercules said opening the door and noticing a tunnel of ice covering the halls. Shadows could be seen on the other side of the tunnels where the hallway’s split going in different direction. ”It seems my path is laid out for me! What a shame. I was looking forward to seeing a school for mutants.” he said before trailing off and continuing on about his master.
”Thirteen years old and the boy was able to have the willpower to summon me. Though he is modest I believe he might be one of the most powerful and intelligent magical users I have ever come across. It takes a great deal of power to be able to give me form and even more to give me my godly strength!” he said beaming with pride the way a father would brag about his kid.
Hercules passed several smaller opening the size of children as they passed clearly some of the kids didn’t want to find a way around the tunnel of ice but decided to go through. ”The young master is patient as well, I’ve never seen a child more determined to find out who attacked him the night I was summoned. Let alone explaining to me the intricacies of this era. I recently discovered the ability to record programs on the television, boy was that a long lecture.” Hercules said rambling on.
”He’s resourceful and responsible as well, top of his class at his school, even skipped a grade! Though I believe the other children in his classes are jealous, they tease him constantly for being in a wheelchair still.” he said his eyes filling with tears as he thought more on the burden that his master was under. Which was one of the reasons the god was here. To help William with his burden.
His tears stopped and the behemoth started laughing, so loud in fact one of the nurses passing by poked her head in to make sure everything was okay. ”William! HA!” Hercules boomed taking his finger and wiping away the tears, ”Merley you jest! You summoned the strongest god in all of the pantheons and ask what good is he!?!” his booming laughter shook the cart with the water on the other side of William’s bed.
”You, a child! The one who summoned me? Disappointed in me. A god! Ha!” Hercules continued laughing while William just raised an eyebrow ”This truly is an auspicious day! A child disappointed with summoning a god!” he continued to laugh, ”Those who sought out my power have trained for lifetimes and failed to summon me. Many even died thinking they had the mental fortitude to make a pact with me....”
“We didn’t make a pact.”
”Oh ho! So you noticed! Well the timing wasn’t right to stroke up a bargain with you I could tell you were in distress and feel your pain. I didn’t have time to wait! I’m a god of action! So I rescued your mother and pulled your father from the wreckage and then waited till help arrived to bring you hear. While I haven’t formed a pact with you I have been siphoning your magical abilities to give myself form. Just enough to not cause you any discomfort until we speak our stipulations!”
William shook his head trying to understand it eyeing the tattoo’s shifting on Hercules’s arms and neck, they were moving. Some of the sigils looked familiar like the manacle he was holding in his parents car before the accident. “So... these stipulations... you steal my power and what do I get out of it?”
Hercules grinned and stood. ”Me! The strongest of gods in all of the pantheons! No god can rival my tenacity and willpower! My strength alone has been sung about for ages! Have you not heard of the trials of Hercules!?! Or maybe Heracles? I have gone by many names over the centuries. My deeds etched into ancient poems and stories!”
There was a look of recognition, if not for the names but for the slight glow Hercules was demonstrating as he boasted about his name and heroic deeds. That or William was realizing there was a siphon on his magical abilities either way the boy now seemed to understand the gravity of the situation.
The room was silent. Except for Hercules sniffing and crying. He should have been faster he was too busy focusing on everything that was different than the task at hand. In the past not noticing lead to more issues. It was his way of adapting over the years. New master, meant new era meant new things he had to look out for. Unfortunately for him he had been summoned so many times in his life time it was second nature at this point.
“Why are you crying?” William asked.
”Beacuse I’m sad.” Hercules stated.
“My father said it’s okay to cry.”
”It most certainly is. Sadness is just one of the many emotions you mortals can experience.” he said sitting back down in the chair next to William who was staring at his feet. ”Medicine has come a long way from what I have seen so far. I have no doubt you will make a speedy recovery. Your mother as well!” Hercules said confidently.
“How can you be so sure...” William didn’t look up but rather shook his hips trying to move his legs fighting back his tears and frustration. ”I’m a god. You live long enough to see miracles you start believing anything is possible.” he said even more confidently placing a hand on the bottom of Williams feet. ”Rest.”
“You’re a god?” the teenager asked raising an eyebrow tears no longer welling up. It was like he turned it off, ”Aye, and you summoned me.” “I summoned a god?” ”You did.” “So you can fix me and my mom right?” William asked almost looking hopeful for a moment.
The tears stopped flowing down Hercules’s face. ”No, William... I... I’m not that type pf god. I protect, I can’t heal. For if I could you’d be walking and your mother would be up and moving.” “Can you bring my father back?” William asked looking hopeful but then regretted asking when Hercules started to cry some more.
”No, William. Once a soul passes they enter the realm of my uncle. Even if I brought him back it wouldn’t be the same. Whose to say he didn’t move on from there.”

”I agree! However I not only lost my phone but the shirt pocket where I had your contact information was destroyed in an inferno.” the demi-god said as a matter of fact before lowering his arms. The glowing softened as he talk. Sam took that as a ‘we don’t need to fight’ at this point he didn’t want to, but rather wanted to discuss the proper protocol for inviting strangers to the mansion. Though the more they talked the more she seemed to be a voice of reason to the big guy.
”.....Yeah.... let me head that way first so I can heal up. I think your ‘friend’ cracked two of my ribs.” he said the ice around the grounds started to melt slowly as they were no longer under his control. Just the ice on his person. Turning and walking back to the mansion, ”Give me a shout if you need me to.... help your friend find the exit...” the icemancer said through gritted teeth.
”I believe I’ll use the way I came! Thank you for your offer!” Hercules said with a wave of his hand not getting what Sam meant. ”I am very capable in finding entrances and exits!” he said looking around. With the open sky he could have just jumped the gates. Security didn’t seem too tight here. ”Right....” Sam said looking to the bird wishing Liz could see his one-eyed stare down.
The icemancer slowly backed away eyeing the whole situation then making sure any kids who were about to go outside didn’t until he made it to Doc. Once he was healed he’d wait to see if Liz could handle the muscle head. Seriously... where was Saph?
Hercules watched as the winter warrior exited the field of battle slightly relieved and slightly upset. The demi-god didn’t advertise it but he was a breaking a sweat and wanted to see what else the one eyed ice-man was capable of. The god of willpower grew tired of talking to a bird however. He felt like he was about to get a quest. ”Hmmmm?”
”.....” his fists and jaws clenched and he suddenly felt rage like he hadn’t felt since he was summoned to this era. Mainly because he was amped up from the fight and now was tired of waiting on the healer. ”Very well...” it wasn’t like the verbal agreements or pacts he had with his master. They could be broken if need be. Even if he hated going back on his word. His master needed him. Hercules wasn’t sure he could sit idly by if William started crying again.
”I agree to the terms, as long as I am not attacked I will do my best not to break anyone or anything.” his tattoo’s would have glowed if she was capable of forming a contract with him. Instead he flexed and clenched his jaw. ”A boy’s mother depends on it. He already lost his father. I’m desperate to help him and will do whatever I can to convince this healer. Even give my life for it.” Hercules said boldly knowing that some things required a price. His master was going to do great things. Hercules was going to see to it that he could do those things.

”Ha! Mortals, you continue to surprise me with your arrogance! Me, a god! On your level!” he shouted shaking off the flecks of ice that dared try to slow his pace. Two more formed and grabbed onto the prince of powers legs slowing him. ”I do admit I enjoy a challenge! However I don’t have time for this!” Hercules said glowing more while tears welled up in his eyes thinking about his master’s recent breakdown over his mother. Rage filled his resolve and he kept moving forward towards the school.
”You’ll find it here!” Sam shouted throwing his hands up and directing the ice to take shape latching on to the man, if he couldn’t hold him in place he could at least slow him till he could figure out what to do next. If all else failed he’d at least have his ace in the hole. Problem with that he would have been next to useless after.
Hercules stopped when he heard his name, looking up to the raven again. ”If I have a say in it I always get what I want!” he shouted to the bird doubting now it was one of Not-his-All-Father they usually didn’t talk like this. From what he recalled they spoke in riddles. It flew in front of him distracting him. He could afford it. This ice was nothing but a nuisance.
”Oh-Ho!?!” animals were often regarded as sacred, Hercules had a habit of avoiding killing any animal unless necessary for his list of gods that he had offended over the millennia was long enough as it was. When the bird swooped he didn’t swat it but rather opened his hand to the offering of lizards as it spoke. ”I had hoped you’d be the one to great me!” he said not hiding his irritation. ”Far from welcoming!” he said allowing the lizards to rest on his face.
After seeing the change of attitude and determination Sam’s sudden need to protect the mansion from a stranger that could knock him around like it was nothing lightened.... slightly. Enough for Sam to question Liz. ”Liz?” he asked the air cooling slightly around the giant and lizards. His power focused more closer to himself.
The comment made Hercules smile and give him a small chuckle. No matter the era he was summoned he was always a ‘big one’ He didn’t know if it was because he had the blood of his father Zeus running through his veins, but he was always considered big. Maybe the mortal who was talking to him couldn’t see very well in the dim light of the establishment. His fingers twitched around the glass and it cracked. Instinctively he set the drink down so it wouldn’t break further.
Mortals.... always so quick to challenge. Hercules however was working and unless his employer or someone else was attacked Hercules had no need to finish anything. The drunk man frowned at the lack of response then looked over to the newcomer, “Hmmm?” he gave the bouncer a once over then looked to his friends who were busy staring at the stage. “The big guy is bugging me, was trying to focus but he just keeps talking.”
Hercules raised an eyebrow and looked to the newcomer who he saw working the door as Cerberus guarded the entrance to the underworld. To say the man was lying would no doubt cause more of an issue and he was being paid to not start anything. Just finish it.
”I guess I have a tendency to do that.” he said looking from the bouncer to the other patron Hercules said stretching the truth. Hercules had bad habits when it came to lying he found it underhanded and wrong so whenever he was caught telling a lie he’d give away a tell of some kind. This time it was with lack of eye contact and a massive hand rubbing the back of his neck causing the suit jacket he was wearing to stretch to the point where a few threads broke free.
”Thirds.” Hercules corrected with a slight smirk to the woman who chimed in behind them. Humans could break people in half, as a demi-god he’d break them in thirds to send a message.
“Little man?” the drunk guy looked to the woman now and gave her a squinty glare.
”I believe this was called an apple-tinni.... I asked them to put it in a sturdier glass.” he said holding the beverage up. ”I seem to have a problem with glass wear.” he said smiling to the woman.
The ice quickly overtook the mass of muscle and within seconds his body’s glow started to dim obstructed by the thick layer of ice that continued to grow on him from Sam’s control. There was no movement for a second then he heard the crow’s voice and knew that Liz was somewhere nearby. ”Misunderstanding? He’s openly threatening anyone who interferes with him kidnaping Doc!” Sam shouted at the bird still laying the cold on.
”Oh ho!” his head was free but his body was restrained currently frozen in position of him blocking. ”I threaten all who stand in my way, most people get hurt otherwise!” Hercules looked to the speaking raven and wondered if it was one of the one-eyed gods ravens. Was Odin alive as well? ”Raven! I was told by the queen of lizards I can find the healer here! I have come for him!” Hercules boomed to all who would hear. He had no idea the raven and the lizard queen were one and the same.
”I don’t have time for this!” while they talked the glow of both the demi-god and the ice continued to grow until there was a loud ‘crack’ like a glacial movement hundreds of miles away however this was right here on the mansion grounds. ”There is no prison that can hold me once I set my mind to something! HMMMMMMMRRRGGHHHH!”
There was panic on Sam’s face all but for a moment as he realized what was about to happen. The density of the ice the strength behind the giant.... Sam stopped shooting the beam of cold and quickly waved his hands free allowing Hercules to break free without sending dense chunks of ice everywhere. The school would have been an easy target with the ice flying everywhere. Instead the ice shifted and grew down to the man’s feet instead of his whole body.
”Liz! Send Doc to the danger room and then get Saph out here yesterday!” Sam shouted as ice clones started to climb out of the ice formed around the hulk’s feet reaching up and pawing at him trying to use him to climb out from the sheet of frozen liquid surrounding them.
”I grow weary of this! No matter how you form your power you will only slow me!” Hercules said grabbing the nearest golem of ice and ripping him from the sheet half formed. The golem grabbed onto his arm and held tight as Hercules brought it down with a loud ‘thud’ ”I’m becoming irritated!”
”Well....” he said spotting one of the ravens fly by as he inhaled quickly even the ice he was layering his ribs with did little to dull the pain. Short breaths were all the icemancer could muster at the moment but that would have to be enough till someone could come give him a hand. Shin, Mirror, Becca, Saph? Any of them would have been a welcome distraction to give him a moment to figure out how to beat this brute.
”That’s good! Don’t want to have to worry about the kids too.” he said grunting and bringing his hands up into a guard. The air got colder when the kids started to scatter back into the mansion. That was good. Sam didn’t want them to see what was about to happen. Cold erupted from Sam as he pushed out as much cold as he could muster. ”You see.... this is a school for kids. Where they can grow up and be kids.... you’re ruining that for them and well.... I don’t like it.” two clones crawled out from the ice next to Sam all of which had similar bodies to Sam the frozen one.
”An admirable goal, but like I said! I just want the healer!” Hercules said his skin coating in ice for a moment till his fists struck into each other and he exhaled himself activating a surge of green light from his tattoo’s. With this he could withstand the cold a bit longer than normal meaning he had to end this quickly. ”Allow me to take him and use him and you can have your peace.” Hercules stepped forward lodging his feet past the layer of ice into the ground then pushed off high into the air.
”Give up! You can not win!” Hercules came down hard on the area where Sam and the ice clones were standing both clones reached for Sam and slingshot him out of harms way as Hercules came crashing down to the spot they were standing moments ago. The impact alone was impressive, a crater formed where Sam had been as the massive demi-god brought both hands down to where Sam was seconds ago the ground gave way and the vanquisher of titans stood upright smacking once clone away and the other apart as he turned.
Sam slid to a stop and turned reforming the one clone and having it grab onto the bulky man. ”That’s fine I just need to hold you off till the big guns get here.” Sam shouted and shot an ice beam at Hercules again this time with a little more ‘umph’ knowing that he can withstand his normal attacks and that the kids weren’t about to see their teacher kill someone.... again.
The cold littered the demi-gods body, something he wasn't expecting this was however a place for mutants to learn in safety from what he heard about the place and while Hercules didn’t want to break the peace they had the man was on a mission. He was here with purpose. The healer. Hercules’s hands were brought up to his face as he waited the cold blast out. He could feel his forearms starting to go numb until hey stopped. He lowered his arms and then took a punch to the face as the one who was wielding the chill with ease.
The punch connected and Hercules didn’t falter, or seemed to react at all to the punch Sam gave him. So he wasn’t just big he was strong too... and now glowing. Why was he glowing? Was he a mutant as well or one of the others that had been popping up all over the place. ”Good, you’re strong. Was worried I was going to kill you!” Sam said as he tried to sweep the leg which didn’t move either when Sam attempted it.
”Ha! A mortal killing a god? You mortals amaze me! Thinking yourselves more capable then you are! Excellent! This will be a great warm up!” Hercules said then started to laugh when realized the pun a few seconds after he made the comment.
Sam wasn’t as amused as the demi-god was apparently. He increased the distance while Hercules attempted to grab him. He was big , but slow. Which Sam was used to dealing with, as long as he didn’t get caught it would be fine. What wasn’t fine was the group of spectators who were now gathering to see Sam fight a stranger. ”Everyone inside now! Grab the teachers and tell them what is happening!”
”Yes! Bring all the staff for all I care! I only want the one! The healer!” Hercules repeated himself again as he charged the icemancer with heavy fists one contacting with Sam after a series of missed blows. The one was enough to shatter the ice armor that was quickly growing around his opponent the punch also sent him a few feet back.
Flung backwards more from the ejecting out of his ice armor Sam wheezed as he tried to empty his lung. That one punch that connected must have broken two ribs. ”....Shit... you’re strong.” ice quickly reformed around Sam denser than before hoping he could at least gain a little time till the kids were all in. There were a few stragglers and with them around Sam couldn’t do what he needed to to win. ”Go!” Sam shouted stepping out of a grab and returning with a kick to the ribs.
The kick landed and Hercules showed little reaction other than booming, ”The children have nothing to fear from me! Just you! And whoever else will get in my way!” brushing off the kick he charged again.
The man was a giant. If that was the one word to describe the hulking, now shirtless mass of muscle before him that was the word he’d use. ”I don’t care who told you about him. The man is busy and you need to schedule an appointment!” Sam said sternly folding his arms and looking up to the man who introduced himself as Hercules. The icemancer didn’t like when people demanded stuff like the mansion’s healer.
”I will not repeat myself again! I demand the healer! The lizard queen told me about him and I’ve come to collect him!” Hercules was angry, filled with rage and an incredible amount of sadness. His thirteen year old master had a bad day, a break down and it was painful to watch his master experience such emotions. The boy should have been running and playing like the children around the school here. Maybe he’d bring him here? ”I want the healer.” he said repeating himself.
”And I want you to leave and call the school to make an appointment.” Sam said the air around them becoming colder. Doc was irreplicable in the mansion and a friend. Sam didn’t like the idea of a big guy stopping by and potentially injuring him or worse. ”Last chance...” Sam said his breath now becoming more visible as the air grew colder.
”Oh? Are you challenging me? A god? Very well. When I defeat you I will take him.” Hercules said slamming his massive fists together. ”For I Hercules, god of strength and willpower shall quickly dispatch you to obtain your healer! I gave you a chance!” mortals. Always wanting to test themselves and the gods. Hercules was not in a mood for it today. Not after seeing William break down over his mother like he did.
”Fine by me, not really a religious type anyways!” Sam said raising a hand and blasting Hercules with a cold beam after the hulk of a man started to glow.
Things have been going well for him, Hercules was on cloud nine at the moment proud of himself as he re-read his post in the classified section of the local newspaper. The demi-god was told by one of the village elders in the park as they played the game of ‘checkers’ things were simpler when it was just looking for someone or something in the paper. Which was why Hercules spent some of his money on an ad, not just any ad. One that could change his life and the of his current master William.
Hercules re-read the ad again beaming with pride,
“Generous, seven-foot-tall Greek chiseled god looking for new master/s must be flexible and willing to take direction. Open minded is a must. Applicant must be capable of magic, if you know what I mean! Men or women, all genders are welcome! The more the merrier! Serious applicants only, not looking for a one time use. Must be willing to demonstrate abilities and perform on demand. Applicant must have great stamina and can go all night if needed! Call @@@-@@@@ to schedule face to face.”
His voice carried in the early hours of the morning as his master’s wheel squeaked into the room. “Did you make coffee? I’m pretty sure I’m hearing things.” “Not only coffee but I made waffles as well!” he boomed as he stood up from the table he was sitting at. ”For you and my guests!” the god poured a cup of the black liquid into a mug and offered it up to his master. Teenagers loved coffee!
“I’m not hungry... and guests?”
Hercules frowned and didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer as he plated three oversized waffles and some strips of bacon. ”Nonsense!”” he poured a few more cups of coffee and placed them at the table. ”No master of mine will skip the most important meal of the day!” “I’m gonna be late for school, I don’t have time to eat.” “William!” Hercules scolded the teenager. William sighed and picked up a fork and wheeled himself closer to the table to eat. “Fine...”
Hercules left the paper out on the table already forgetting to mention to his master what he had done. ”Mornin’, is that coffee?” “It is! And breakfast!” the demi-god boomed glad someone seemed excited for his meal.
William almost choked on his coffee when three people walked out of the room that belonged to Hercules. A male and two females shuffled out looking disheveled and exhausted from a long night. All three of them had lipstick smeared on their cheeks. That was when William finally noticed Hercules had some on his cheeks.... and his chest. “Put on some clothes...” William sighed loudly and tried to ignore the situation by looking over the morning paper.
”Whose the kid? the man asked. “Owner of the place you are staying in.” replied the teenager as he bit into some waffles. “Master, these are my guests. I met them last night after I called them from the personals. I discovered the newspaper yesterday!” Hercules beamed with pride as he offered a plate to the two women. One of the women shook her head and Hercules handed the plate over to the next guest.
“Herc... tell me you didn’t take out an ad... calling yourself a god.”
”But of course! Why wouldn’t I?” he smiled chewing a large piece of bacon. ”Why would I lie? I am a god!” ”I’ll say.” one of the women said slapping the prince of powers rear.
“..... I can’t deal with this right now.... I’m going to school early... just make sure this is all cleaned up when I get back.” The squeaking of the wheels led for a dramatic exit as the door slammed behind him.
Hercules sighed, ”Apologies for William. He’s not much of a morning person. Maybe he doesn’t like waffles?” looking over to his ‘guests’ ”How much do I owe you for last night? I did not expect to have that much fun!” he asked curiously sipping from an oversized mug that fit in his hands perfectly.
”Free of charge. You did all the work.” the first woman said. The man gave a thumbs up and pointed to the first woman who commented and then the other woman nodded in agreement. ”If you ever want to show us any other things you know, it was nice learning something new!” Hercules nodded his head, it was common to have such a reaction. He was a god after all.
”I’m afraid it will have to wait, I’m expecting many phone calls today with potential masters!” he said eyeing his phone enthusiastically. Surely there was another mystic out there who was willing to help the god of willpower with his burden.
