The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. The penny minted in ‘71 felt heavy in his hand, a piece of his soul now tethered to it. It was mighty weight one that he’d get back upon his death or that of his masters. Hercules frowned at the lack of confidence Rex of the Inferno had. It seemed he wasn’t happy with who he was. The demi-god clenched his jaw and his eyes watered as he started to feel what Rex of the Inferno felt. He pitied his new ally.
There was more he wanted to say but it seemed Rex of the Inferno was done here, looking for an excuse to leave. Hercules decided to give it to him. No longer thinking it be best to form a pact with the man. The god needed someone who was confident in themselves someone like William, his current master. Maybe Hercules should find another teenager to tether to teenagers seemed to be overflowing with self confidence.
”Very well....” the penny dropped like it was something Atlas struggled to hold up. Hercules forced a smile and then waved, ”I will steal no more of your time Rex of the Inferno. I wish you safe travels, and if you ever need me seek me out! I’m not that hard to find!” Hercules said lowering his head in a bow.
When Rex of the Inferno left Hercules was alone with Brazen and his minions, ”As for you! I shall now lecture you until the police arrive!” Hercules boomed as he turned to the villains eager to point out why what they were doing was wrong.
The demi-god stopped searching as Rex of the Inferno doubted his abilities again. He only had one master... of course his power was limited however with ‘club’ and his newest ally Hercules had the utmost confidence in himself. That was all the god needed. At least that was how he felt. ”You insult me yet again!” Hercules laughed trying to shrug off the insult, Rex of the Inferno didn’t know what he had done in his lives to have such confidence.
”I have fought armies, legions and hordes. Natural disasters, and assassins. Creatures that haven’t existed in this world for centuries. I’ve even held my own with titans. What can a group of mortals do to one such as I?! Maybe give me the challenge befitting one as great as I? I have seen the oceans rise and fall and mountains fall. I’ve guided and protected countless lives.” he said now over compensating for the fact that his abilities were being doubted. If he had more masters and more to draw from... ”You might not believe me. That is fine.”
Hercules found a penny in his pocket. One he was planning on giving his master who he noticed had a penny collection. This penny was minted in 1971. With this penny his master would have a penny from every year of the decade. ”You lack confidence in yourself. You might not believe you are a protector but it is difficult to deceive one such as I.” Hercules said chastising his new ally.
”and no, I am not your god. I’m a god. You may pray and believe in whoever you wish. I am not the type of god who demands worship. I’m a god that protects those who need it and guides those who need it. That is my purpose. My curse ” he said never meeting the god Rex of the Inferno was talking about. Hercules knew what he was, he didn’t need anyone else to believe him.
”Tell me Rex of the Inferno! Why did you come to my aid today!?! Why did you join me here!?!” he asked holding the penny from 1971 in his now healed hand. His fist clenched around it as a few of the sigils on his forearms lit up.
The god of willpower grinned when he was asked if he was crazy, he was neither his half brother Dionysus or one of his followers. You want to see crazy? Try partying with a wine god. One of the few drinking matches Hercules lost to. He didn’t like to bring it up. ”Far from it, quite sane actually.” he added a flex to show off what he meant. How could he be crazy?
”Oh? You’ve seen me in action and you still doubt my power!?!” Hercules flexed some more and slammed his fists together activating his pull on power. It was foolish on his part but he wasn’t really thinking about it after Rex of the Inferno questioned his abilities after seeing first hand what he could do. What a time to be alive, mortal after mortal questioning him? He shook his head and scoffed as his tattoo’s flickered a few times with light before Hercules decided he didn’t have enough power. Or rather William didn’t have enough power. His poor master! He almost forgot to stop drawing power!
His lights died down.
”All the more reason to help! Show them who you are! You are Rex of the Inferno! Protector of the innocent! A master of mysticism!” Hercules boasted. The demi-god was still a little upset his power was being doubted. Hercules shook his head having watched several dirty cop movies recently. Unfortunately most of his knowledge of came from movies and television shows. ”We don’t yet know how deep the well is, my master doesn’t trust a lot of adults! Thus we are alone! Well other than you now Rex of the Inferno!” he said confidently.
”Do you still really doubt my abilities as a god?” he asked curiously? Looking around for a piece of junk on the ground. His master would be upset with him if he saw him in his state searching for any old item. Ideally one that was easy to carry.
Hercules stared for a moment the tears starting to dry up, when he cried it wasn’t for very long. His emotions could change quickly and they often did. So when the tears stopped he did what he normally did and let them air dry. No need to wipe the tears from his face not now at least. ”........ Very well.” he said knowing he could force the information out of him.
Even with his fire magic Hercules could close the distance quickly, intimidate and threaten. Or.... no... he would have to discuss that with his current master first. That was a decision he’d most likely want to be apart of. Though it would lighten the burden a bit for his master.
”You’re conviction! It’s truly inspiring!” he said folding his arms ignoring the groan from behind them. It seemed Brazen was either trying to ignore the conversation of fight his way free. Either way Hercules didn’t pay much attention. ”While it would make things far easier on me to know where they meet I also know at the moment I’m in no shape for it. My master grows weaker by the moment.” he said looking at his nearly healed hand.
”So they attacked you before.... I understand. There will not be a second time. For I am in your debt! Let it be known Rex of the Inferno! You have made a friend of a god today! You’re courage and eagerness to help me best these villains puts me in your debt. Never stop doing what’s right!” Hercules walked over and offered the man his newly healed hand in a handshake.
”If there was a way I discovered their location.... could I count on your support if I need it?” the giant asked wondering what depths Rex of the Inferno’s strength. ”I can promise you they won’t harm you again.” he said confidently.
The Son of Zeus raised an eyebrow after his bow confused as Rex of the Inferno seemed to lose his composure, stuttering and then stumbled backwards. ”Oh?” he asked curiously as if the cult was the reason he was acting this way. Was he under the influence of someone from the cult? Did Hercules have to defeat them as well?
His master William, was no doubt passed out now over whatever books he was studying. Hercules needed to put him to bed first at least. He doubted he could muster much more power for the next few hours. If he wasn’t engaged with Rex he would have retreated to the ethereal plane to recover using less power in the process.
The demi-god stared at Rex of the Inferno for a moment trying to find the words needed to support his new ally. ”Ha! No apologies needed! You spoke your mind! Is that so wrong? Clearly there was a misunderstanding however....” the giant snapped his fingers with his good hand. ”I do know the cult of drinkers from the well you speak! I just remembered! They crippled my master! It seems this is a glorious day indeed! I have more reason to dislike them now! Knowing that they too wronged you!” Hercules said getting fired up. His adrenaline coursing through his body giving him yet another second wind.
”Apparently my master stole my totem from them and they responded by killing his father, crippling the boy and putting his mother in something of a coma.” tears welled up in his eyes the more he thought about it. ”My poor master.”
”Tell me Rex of the Inferno all you know of them and where they meet! I have words and actions I must share with these Well drinkers! They changed the course of a boy and his family and I will promised I’d help him right the wrong.” tears streaked down his face as he continued to stare at his new ally.
The god’s smile dropped when Rex of the Inferno insulted him at least it sounded like an insult. ‘You people’ the immortal wasn’t sure what to make of the words as his ally suddenly seemed like a threat. Hercules sighed loudly and held up a large partially charred hand his palm now pink with new skin as it slowly grew up to the fingertips. ”Welldrinkers?” had he heard about them before? Had his master mentioned them in passing? He thought for a moment.
”I have no allegiance to the Welldrinkers you speak of. Have they crossed you Rex of the Inferno? Do I need to meet them?” he flexed trying to be blunt with his meaning behind it. ‘Do you need help?’ Hercules was a man of few words having always believed action was far louder than any spoken word.
”I did not mean to offend or startle you. This era is new to me. More mutants and masters of the mystic arts than ever before. I’m curious that is all. You are an ally and I wish not to lose you as one. You’re powers are formidable and you seem to be on the side of good. It was only a question. I’ve been told secrets don’t make friends.” he smiled awkwardly and lowered his healing hand.
”I’m sorry if I offended you!” Hercules said lowering his head in a bow. Hercules bowed to many in his time, out of respect this one was no different. Hercules hoped he didn’t offend his new friend.
”No... I know I am one.” he said flexing and admiring his own muscles in a reflective surface. His body’s tattoos moved around in the dim light from the steel mill. It was usually more impressive when he glowed and said that. Hercules doubted he’d be able to glow at the moment he needed more power to do that and William was in no state to be lending such power.
”Hold fast Rex of the Inferno. Where’s the fire!” Hercules said almost holding out a hand to stop him then it dawned on him what he said. The giant of a god started laughing holding his side as he continued to do so. ”Fire! Rex of the Inferno!” he shook his head, ”Too bad the god of jokes was already taken when they gave me my powers.” he shook his head and wiped a tear from his eye. Normally he’d let them flow a real man was capable of crying the strongest of men were proud of their emotions. However there was some dust in them and he was feeling too good to ignore it.
”I wanted to ask you, not that it matters to me. Your powers. Are they mutant in nature or magic?” he asked stepping closer showing off his tattoos some wondering if any of the moving markings on his body spiked curiosity.
”It’s so hard to tell in this era and I liked to be informed of my allies capabilities if I ever need to call upon their assistance. Mutants were more durable, less likely to die. Mystics were more creative but still squishy.
The demi-god laughed and gave him one more reassuring pat on the back for extra comradery. It was important to show support and encouragement in one’s allies and Rex of the Inferno was no different. He needed encouragement. All mortals did.
The looks they got from the hostages they just freed was something Hercules was familiar with, you defeat a king and those loyal who still served under said king were often hesitant to accept what happened.
The hostages left and Hercules waved his injured hand regretting the move immediately but kept smiling as the charred flesh gave way for new skin and muscle tissue, ”Fair well citizens! Remember your loved ones are in police custody. It is important to contact them and let them know a god is true to his word! Hercules! Son of Zues is true to his word!” he flexed a little just incase any of them turned back around to get one last look from their heroes. This too encouraged mortals.
”Let them leave Rex of the Inferno! They have had a traumatic day today I’m sure. We rescued them and captured their loved ones, it is a lot to deal with for any mortal.” Hercules stated as he relaxed a little now it was just the two of them. His hand hurt. At this point losing the limb would have been better than the burn. The nerve endings were still there. Just damaged. He shook it again trying to get rid of the feeling as more nerve ends repaired themselves. His hand still felt like it was on fire.
”We should! While I don’t understand the proper protocol yet I found the police just want to get the captured villain and return to their duties. Very rarely do they want to stick around to chat.” he said speaking from experience. Most of them tried not to interact with him if they could help it. No doubt they are insecure around him. Hercules was a whole lot of god.
”Excellent work Rex of the Inferno! Without you it would have taken me twice as long to rescue them!” he said giving a thumbs up. His thumb was the first thing that was partially healed reverting back from a sooty blob of flesh to a normal thumb. At least normal for Hercules.
The god corrected him, ”I win every round! I’m a god!” he said trying not to show he was in pain. His body would heal this pain would only last for a moment. William’s his master however... that was a different story. The energy it will take to heal his wounds. The smell of burnt flesh filled his nostrils and he released Brazen’s hand leaving some of his flesh on it when he pulled away.
”I will admit you were a challenge. Take solace in knowing you pushed me further than I have gone in months. If only you weren’t a criminal I’d look forward to meeting you again.” he said shaking his hand then realizing it was a mistake.
Hercules grabbed the nearest piece of metal, a long metallic pole and bent it in a circle. Careful not to use his injured jabbed it into the concrete with a loud grunt his tattoo’s flickering to life once again. He was running on fumes now, any more other than the healing he’d probably kill his young master. The thought brought some tears to his eyes. The boy had a promising life ahead of him. Hercules wasn’t going to be the cause to his demise.
Brazen looked at his temporary situation and scoffed, “You think this will hold me? I’m Brazen I’ll get free then hunt you down. I’ll make you pay.” he shouted now yelling and trying to fight despite his own pain and coughing up blood. Hercules shook his head and walked away though his usual swagger and confidence reduced to a slower stride. The day was won but at a cost. He had to return home at once to make sure William passed out on the floor.
Puffing out his chest Hercules cleared his throat, ”Citizens! You are freed thanks to Rex of the Inferno and Hercules!” he shouted letting his false bravado echo throughout the steel mill. The people looked around still confused and terrified. Hercules wasn’t sure what to say so he made his way to Rex of the Inferno. ”Well done!” he slapped him on the back with his good hand. It was on his opposite side so it was awkward for him.
”I have to say that was one of the most entertaining bouts I’ve been in, in.... centuries!” he forced a laugh. ”Truely was an honor to fight by your side Rex of the Inferno!”

The giant scoffed and laughed as if the answer was an obvious one. ”Me.” Hercules stood and flexed some more his glowing tattoo’s shifted along his body making it more difficult to read the curse however his exploits became apparent. Ships shifted along his chest as monsters flickered to life from his many trials and even the ones that weren’t as famous.
”The power to summon the strongest god from any pantheon.” he bragged and sat back down beaming, ”Depends on who you ask but very few can best me in a fight.”
”I also come with knowledge eons of history having lived through many of the eras myself. I also developed numerous skills along the way. Right now I’m currently learning how to cook pizza. The dough needs to be kneaded properly and so far it escapes me.” he said hanging his head a little in shame.
”I help him accomplish his goals as I do with all masters. His however seem to be more noble than most. Which is why I agreed to serve him.” Hercules nodded his head proudly a tear forming in his eye the more he thought about the plight of his master.

The fighting continued for the giant and the evildoer. Brazen was tough, not his toughest and with him trying not to draw too much power from his master he tried to be smarter about how he used his powers. The god ducked and blocked the punches with his forearms leaving other parts of his body less protected by his strength. It was clear Brazen was a handful however after glimpsing over at Rex of the Inferno and his display of fire Hercules had less to worry about.
”It seems we now have the upper hand!” he shouted throwing a fist into Brazen’s jaw when Hercules sidestepped the red fist throwing his arm up to help protect his face the glowing more intense on his upper torso and the brightest around his arms. “You think so? How’s that?” he asked spitting out a piece of metal which Hercules assumed was a tooth.
Flexing and pointing he identified the cause, ”It seems we won the day!” noting that the hostages were now free. “So hard to find good help.” Brazen sighed turning back to Hercules, “I’ll kill him after you then and then I’ll make a few more examples. You guys really pissed me off.” Another fist this time Hercules wasn’t quick enough to move nor did he want to at this point. Brazen played to one of Hercules’s weaknesses; threatening his allies.
”You will do no such thing!” Hercules stated his body glowing more than before as he decided to abandon his previous plan on being careful. Hercules caught the fist which was still red hot and frowned feeling the searing pain. His eyes grew dark he seemed far more imposing than he was moments ago. A look of fear passed in Brazen’s eyes as he looked from Hercules’s hand to his own. The smell of burning flesh could be smelled around them as Hercules’s hand tightened around the villain.
”As long as I am alive no one shall harm my allies!” it was a bold claim but Hercules was a bold god. ”You’re reign of terror is over Brazen, there is nothing you can do I can’t withstand! You are nothing to me but a burden to carry!” Hercules’s tightened his grip on Brazen’s hand then lifted him off the ground.
More fear in Brazen’s eyes was apparent when the Demi-god flipped him over and onto his back the concrete breaking under the weight of the force. Air escaped from Brazen’s lungs. ”Submit!” Hercules commanded.

”Fair assumption.” he smiled, ”I have a hard time holding onto cocktail glasses actually. Prefer a large mug. Wooden ideally.” why was everything in this era made of glass? Wood and metal made excellent and far more resilient drinkware to the demi-god.
”Circiculum?” Hercules asked raising his eyebrow, ”No, I doubt I am. Very few are capable of summoning me.” he said truthfully, ”Only the most skilled can channel enough magic for me to use.” he continued knowing his master wouldn’t be thrilled with him sharing all of his information.
”I form a pact with one or many, after certain conditions are agreed upon I can then channel their magic to hold off the curse that binds my power. It requires a strong will and mental fortitude that few seem to possess. In this era and others.” he flexed showing off his curse accessing the power his tattoo’s started to glow while his body started to gloss over.
”My current master is wonderful, a bit moody but he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. It was fitting he was able to summon me. Here I thought I would be forgotten.” he laughed and slapped his knee his voice booming. ”Me! Hercules! Ha!”

Allowing the blanket to drape over his shoulders it seemed to flow as Hercules walked creating almost a cape a child would be seen with. Not his master but rather other kids his age. His master for as brilliant as the young teen was had little in the imagination department. After repeated comments about it his master stopped talking to him when he brought it up.
Following Serena out of the room and back into the room they were before they engaged with the ‘meltdown’ Hercules gingerly took her hand in a shake his massive hands curling around hers. ”I’m Hercules. Son of Zues, king of the gods at least the Greek and Roman pantheons.” he said thinking about something he owned, ”I own a club.” he made note not to think about the thing in his hand otherwise he might have summoned it.
”Any deal you would need to negotiate should first be brought to my attention.” he stated finding a seat walking over and sitting in it the blanket fell behind him leaving him bare chested. ”He’s currently studying right now but if the deal is too good to pass up I’m sure he will agree to your terms.” he nodded confidently. ”So you too channel magic?”
“Is that it? How’d you manage to take down my sister? So hard to find good help these days.” Brazen scoffed and then brushed some dirt off of his shoulder eyeing yet another nuisance. “Another one? That’s fine everyone can learn by example then. You don’t cross me.” Brazen turned and started to walk towards the newcomer but stopped when he heard metallic clangs behind him. Hercules was ready for round two.
”HA HA HA! YES! MORE!” he boomed and threw a broken catwalk that was apart of the pile. His forehead was bruised but it was sturdy how many times has he taken a punch to the face before? ”I’ve been practically begging for a good fight all night someone to test my abilities.” standing among the metallic leftovers from projects Hercules flexed his glow even brighter than before. He was pushing himself now. Which meant he was also pushing his master.
”It’s been weeks since I had a good fight! One that showed me why I’m in this era!” Hercules pushed off and closed the distance as Brazen turned already throwing a punch. ”I was afraid I might break you!” the Demi-god boasted as he sidestepped the crime lord’s white hot fist. The color was fading on it meaning it was less of a threat. However Hercules knew he couldn’t keep drawing his power like he had been. Poor William!
Hercules’s fist rushed in and hit the same spot this time the thunderous ‘ring’ of his fist hitting metal seemed to do far more than last time. It lifted Brazen off his feet. He didn’t get far because when he went airborne Hercules followed kicking off the ground sending him upward to unleash a flurry of blows. Every strike sending Brazen higher and higher until finally Hercules grabbed the man’s foot and launched him into the same pile of metallic scraps Hercules found as a landing moments ago. ”A rare opportunity indeed! I finally don’t have to hold back!”
Brazen was dented. Nobody could dent him. How long had he been evading the police, mafia and X-men? Where did this guy come from? “Okay, I’ll admit it. You’re strong.” brazen laughed pushing himself from the rubble, ”The Strongest.” Hercules corrected. He might have not been the strongest he seen physically but his strength came from his will power.... and his master Will.
“Let’s keep this up. I don’t even know if I can sweat!” Hercules charged again closing the distance Brazen’s white hot fist which was now a steady red glow grabbed the nearest piece of scrap and tried to lodge it into the charging demi-god. ”You can not best me this day! Not when I have Rex of the Inferno to inspire me!” Hercules boomed catching the metallic weapon and then pulling it away from Brazen.
The demi-god threw another punch and then another blocking the red hot fist. It was clear that was his game plan to burn the hero. Mark him. Make him remember. However Hercules already had enough scars and reminders. Today was not a day to add another from the likes of him.

”Ha ha! Yes! Excellent!” Hercules encouraged loudly as he threw more singles on the center stage. It wasn’t his money so he didn’t care too much about it. However after being there for a few hours already Hercules was starting to develop mental critiques for the performances on the stages the better the performance the better the ‘rain fall’ and verbal encouragement.
He had a one time job, well at the moment it was a one time job. The demi-god wasn’t sure he wanted to be a full time body guard at least not to the individual in question. His motives seemed.... sinister. However all Hercules knew about the job was he had a body to protect for the evening seeing as his current bodyguard was off. The person in question though had been in the back sitting on his own. Hercules was just supposed to come when he was summoned. Something the Demi-god thought he could handle well having centuries of experience.
The son of Zues was worried however and voiced his concern, the god had other skills than just looking big and imposing so the man he was to guard for the evening handed him a stack of singles and told him to go and make it ‘rain’ after asking a few other patrons Hercules figured he picked up on the meaning.
Another handful of bills littered the stage as a few of the smaller gentleman next to him were commenting on his need to show them up. ”Are they not entertaining?” he asked placing his massive hand on small cocktail glass careful not to break it. He had a bad habit of doing that.
“You aren’t so big...” said one of the men sizing him up. Hercules ignored him for the moment, either to the slurring of the words or the fact that the current dancer the demi-god thought was too captivating.
