The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For as much trouble as it got her into Remy as glad she followed her instinctual whims, especially on a night like tonight. A gorgeous blonde with a great personality who enjoyed playing the opposite to her preferred position. The stars had definitely aligned tonight. There was the gentlest little pleased shiver from her body at the attention. Her eyes turning a bit more red to orange and her cheeks turning a bit purple. "I am certain my enthusiasm will tire you out.. Well that certainly solves seating arrangements for tonight's festivities doesn't it?" Unable to help the very pleased grin that dazzled brightly before she pulled Pen in tight.
It was immediately apparent that she was as endowed as she looked and without any torture devices to keep them defying gravity as their bodies squished together. Not to mention she possessed a good bit of strength. Not that the way Remy's lips nibbled down Pen's neck wasn't doing everything possible to distract her from these lovely truths. Finishing her silky travels with a gentle nip once she run into clothes instead of blonde's lovely skin.
Leaning back to smile at Pen before reluctantly prying an arm free to grab at her glass and take a sip before bringing her glass close to Pen's lips. "Care for some? It is dangerously smooth. Definitely something to sip." She offered in a genuine if rather plain manner, before continuing in an almost off hand manner. "Not as delicious as you probably are, but a fair substitute till later." Winking at Pen briefly and once the matter of the drink was resolved setting the glass back down.
The hand on Pen's back gently caressing while still providing support. "While it isn't very sexy we should talk logistics. Is there anywhere you've always wanted to stay? The Ritz perhaps. Or we could be more on the nose and go to the Hard Rock?" An amused giggle escaping her before she nuzzled into the smaller woman's shoulder. By mentioning the Ritz she hoped Pen would get the hint she didn't really care what it cost as long as it was comfortable for them both and enabled the spitfire of a blonde to experience something she wouldn't otherwise get to on the long off chance things went sour. "You can always think of all the things you want to do with my very willing body when your back on stage afterall." While she wasn't about to let things boil over quite yet she was definitely going to keep them simmering along.

"Typical bullies thinking a gun makes them hot shit. Not unusual no matter where you are." She hedged, trying to delay venturing into talking about her least favorite subject, the past. Who would when your past was basically a catalogue of contrafct killings and revenge slayings.
"Eh, the world gets more dangerous every day period. As technology advances so does the hum,,-sentient capacity to cause destruction and violence. Far as I can see it you only have a few options going forward. Push on continuing as you have, change in someway, or kill yourself. Pretty much the choice everyone is given at every crossroads in their life. Still the fact you feel something is probably a good thing. Who knows how deep that mind scrambling BS went. How sure can you be that all your actions were your own?" Shrugging again as she laid out possible thoughts for Aura to consider and took out a sentry on a balcony with a quick double tap of her rifle.
"Not sure what you mean by leaving it behind. True I relax and am semi retired at the moment. But my life is violence and death. Well unlife such as it is. Sort of the dark version of a pheonix. As for not coming for you.." She considered a lie then shrugged. Of all people Aura deserved the truth.
"I went through a period of rebirth. Little more then an animal following instinctual desires. Somehow went from Canada and ended up in Europe somehow and traveled south leaving a trail of retribution in my wake. By the time I had gained self control and awareness I left everything behind and became a mercenary. Guess somewhere along the way I worked through what had happened in my own way. The only thing that kept me around the camp was constant brainwashing. Wasn't a true believer like an impressionable youth like yourself was. As for not coming to see you, I wasn't sure if I wanted to kill you or save you. Or if it is even possible to do either. Not that I even guessed you were alive for several years. Following the news hasn't ever been a real priority for me. Doubly so when your in countries you dont speak the language. If it makes you feel better to hate me for not trying to be your guardian angel or trying to stop you go right ahead."

It wasn't difficult to stay smiling through their exchange. Being a comfortable back and forth with neither of them capitalizing on the time. "Ah I am afraid you saw my grand entrance. I thought showbiz was all about flashy entrances and being fashionably late?" Shooting Pen a wink as they stared at one another.
Remy admired how well the rockstar in the making reacted to the firearms. When people could go around with lasers in their eyes Remy felt pretty justified keeping herself and the ones close to her safe. "Of course hun. I just didn't want anything to go off in a way neither of would like." Flashing another one of her playful grins. "Time for what though I wonder? Things seem to get wild around me pretty quickly." Most of the time she was pretty sure it wasn't her, ok at least half. All the crazy things in her life certainly weren't more then 50% her fault.. right?
As the blonde got more comfortable so did Remy. Her hands slipping down low then back up underneath her companions jacket to get a hands on evaluation of her backside and slipping back up to her lower back to give woman's sides a gentle squeeze of appreciation, before slipping her fingertips in the backside of her pants to just below the waistline, it was another bold move, but the green eyed beauty in her lap was sending all the best of signals. Of course through this Remy wasn't silently admiring her lap guest. "If I had known someone so attractive was playing I would have been here at the start. I will have to make up for my absence enthusiastically as I can manage." Purring out the world with all the multilingual skill and sexuality she could muster, which she thought was a fair bit at least.
Flicking her hair to the side she showed off some of the tattoo that crawled up her neck, a simple tribal design, and took the long way around to Penelope's ear so she wouldn't think she was going in for a kiss quite yet. Instead whispering into her ear close enough to almost feel her lips brushing against the skin. "You chose well earlier. I rather enjoy my girls on top of me." Leaning back with a grin and the faintest hint of.. something gracing her cheeks, watching the rock stars reaction to her words. As busy as she had been the last several years in other countries.. she wasn't exactly up to snuff on all the particular American slang and jargon for more tenderly approaching the subject. It was a good thing bold and upfront was far more her way of approaching things so she doubted she would ever bother to learn.

The lack of having a heartbeat made situations like these so much easier to play cool. She was sure if it wasn't stopped permanently it would have been a lot more difficult. As it was there was a faint purpling of her cheeks at Pen's little implied innuendo. A little amused 'hmn hmn' was her equivalent of an impromptu laugh. A dazzling smile on her face as she responded in kind. "I am finding the scene less interesting than the people in it. Especially one in particular right now and her practiced fingers. Though I have been known to tie a cherry stem with just my tongue before.."
It wasn't often Remy was surprised at something, and rarely was it in a pleasant manner. So when not only was the offer taken the blonde decided to straddle her lap instead of sitting on her leg. Her eyebrows raising amusedly as the smile spread to a full grin. "Only fairly boring? Damn I will have to try harder!" Inhaling a bit so she could laugh happily. Setting her drink down on the bar so she could wrap her arms around Pen's waist and not worry about falling off. Her body a bit cooler having no heat source of her own and having only just come from outside not too long ago.
"Hmm I was right, your even more beautiful up close. We are probably making everyone else jealous. The two most beautiful people in this joint sharing a single stool. It is a good thing I knocked out that pervert otherwise we would probably be swamped with your admirers." She kept her hands at the small of Pen's back, not travelling or doing anything inappropriate. Instead just pulling the blond in tighter so they were as close as their endowments would allow their faces only inches away from one another. Her own face held just the tiniest bit of makeup. The rest being just good genetics.
"Normally this is the part where I would consider a bit of fondling and maybe some making out, but you have a show to finish. We don't need you getting all weak-kneed and... soggy before you go back on." An impish smile on her face as she pushed her chest into Pen's just a bit. For all she knew Pen was the sensitive chested type and that would be all it took to get the motor running so to speak, but she couldn't and wouldn't help herself. "Also mind the literal guns, we don't need the wrong sort of explosions in this place afterall." Momentarily taking a hand off her back to show off a piece she had under an armpit, all silver and chromed out. Remy liked getting the potential ah shit moments squared away even as she idly wondered if the blonde had noticed a lack of heartbeat.
Maybe she could get used to this metalhead atmosphere afterall. She had turned to explain herself to the bartender who just shrugged and waved a bouncer over to clear the human obstruction out of the way to recover from his I'll concieved drunken shenanigans. Well alright then, usually she had to use what little charms and a massive dose of feminine wiles to extract herself from sticky situations like that. She settled in to watch and absorb the rest of the song while sipping casually at her drink. She had just settled in to enjoy the little blonde firebrand belting it out and being a bundle of energy when, much to her dismay, it ended.
It didn't have time to turn I to a pouty frown when the person of her attention had been made an admirers of sorts to her and she couldn't help but have a warm smile in place when the cutey arrived. Judging from the eyebrows and roots of her hair, natural blonde, God's help her. It didn't escape her that she was being sized up as well. She hadn't set out to find someone to enjoy the rest of the night with, but now she would kick her own ass if she didn't try. A warm smile settling itself easily on her face as she was complimented.
"Wasn't even my good arm?" Tinkling the ice in the scotch glass settled in her right hand with a juggle of her wrist before showing off a small flex that made the bicep fill fill and stretch the jacket some. "My friends call me Remy." Even going so far as to put the real French with the rolling R in her name as she said it. "You have a great voice and can really shred it out I think the term is. New to the whole metal scene honestly." She sure as hell wasn't about to try and pose or bullshit about it either.
Softly glowing yellow amber eyes checking out the empty seat next to her before the smile cracked wide to a grin. "Well you certainly can take take that boring seat if you want, but I could offer you a better one." Sitting up framed her assets nicely by way if the open jacket without a conscious thought as she shifted to Hitch up a well worn combat boot to catch the rung of the stool and spreading her legs to show off a toned thighs which she followed up with a pat. "You won't hurt my feelings whatever you decide." It was clear she wasn't bullshitting or even being sleezy about the offer. All being made in the spirit of fun and mutual attraction. Ah what a great night this was turning out to be.

The recent holiday had given the city of New York and adjacent territories a reprieve from her presence. NYC had a special sort of something that she found hard to put a finger on. The constant changes and whirlwind of odd shit happening probably just played to her anarchist side. The good kind that were all about freedom in all its forms, not so much the homegrown terrorist kind. Those sort gave all of them a bad rep. Following that vein of freedom she decided to hit up one of the music bar venues with cover bands that were all supposed to be good to enrich herself a bit. She enjoyed rock and roll but years overseas listening to it in other languages didn't give her much of a chance to understand the American nuances of the music. Anything was better then country though. Whoever invented that crap should be shot!
Her roommate was off doing his own thing so she had to fly solo tonight with no wingman. She'd done it for years, but having the insight of her precious gayer than a rainbow unicorn shirt covered in sparkles and said "I'm Gay!" In bold polychromatic colors friend point, out potential problem lays would be sorely missed.
Still he was nice enough to help her pick out an outfit and settled on something appropriate for the venue. Jeans that looked painted on, a simple grey blouse and leather jacket completed her outfit tonight. Her tank top and daisy dukes look having been set aside recently. Bracing herself for the sudden shift in decibels assaulting her ears she bypassed the line with a well placed hand shake courtesy of her friend Benjamin Franklin and a grip that could easily shatter bones got her inside.
A quick scan gave her the location of the bar which she made a beeline for, taking a moment to eye the band playing not at all terribly and with some well placed shouldering got herself a seat at the bar. The reputation of the place was well deserved as her sole goal for the evening of not listening to crappily played rock music. "Scotch top shelf." Pointing it out and slapping the cash on the bar before anyone could offer to buy her a drink. Most beer was for desperate suckers.
Drink in hand she turned around to lean her back against the bar and watch the cutey singing and shredding it out on the guitar. She had just started bouncing her foot to the tune a bit before her glass was pressed into her body and felt a hand fondling onto her. Sighing as she had enough situational awareness to know the guy hadn't tripped at all. As if the obvious squeeze wasn't enough of a giveaway. The curse of being stacked lending itself to attracting the bad kind of perverts who had too much to drink.
"Oh sorry abou-" The man had started a half hearted apology, bastard hadn't even bothered to stop smiling to try and act. Her fist slammed into the under side of his chin with all the precision her special forces training had given her. Gross Pervert Guy's feet lift completely off the floor and even in the sometimes sporadic lighting a glint of ivory could be seen flying through the air. She hadn't even bothered to watch the guy hit the floor before she was turning towards the bartender to explain what happened. She wanted to at least be able to finish her scotch dammit.

This was the worst sort of reunion, awkward. Remy was under no illusions that she was any sort of people person. She was a badass warrior valkyrie in her mind first and everything else sort of fell in line behind that mental self image. The worst part of it was Remy had avoided making contact with Aura for a reason. Would and should Remy do what she can to put Aura down like some sort of rabid animal or would they be able to be some sort of mutual understanding. What she hadn't expected was some weird best friend leaning towards mother complex. Which was ironic since not only was Aura older looking then her now, but an actual mother as well. Talk about surprises.
She however gave Aura her the full attention she could in a potential combat zone and wasn't about to make light of what could potentially be a important moment in both their lives. Pulling out a pack of cigarettes from one of her numerous pockets she tapped one out and lit it, giving it a long puff before offering one to Aura to see if she wanted it.
"Helping our kind is a noble. The means are important too." Taking a deliberate moment to inhale so she could sigh, the human actions so much easier when she had an excuse to make her lungs work by smoking. Gesturing casually to indicate they should walk, but didn't set the pace fast. In fact it was sort of lazy as if they were two friends just on a walk and their happened to be bodies nearby.. which was sort of the vibe Remy was going for as she started to reload the spent magazines.
"Look I have never been the greatest socializer or anything like that so if I fuck this up or trigger some strings hold back till we finish before you stab someone over it. It is clear you need to get some things off your chest so we will just take it easy on our way to our next stop on the Badass Chicks Express. I doubt anyone will stop us." Shrugging and smirking at Aura with a cig jaunting out at an angle.
"You did the right thing, leaving the woods. I was dead and still am for the literal definition of the word so don't feel anyway bad over that." Stowing away the magazines as they continued their sedate stroll. Reaching over with a gloved hand to poke a finger into one of the holes and draw it back to show off the black blood before wiping it off on her pants. "Miracle was the most convincing sort of liar, twisting the truth into a pretzel to make it serve the goals of the, lets face it, cult. Add into all the mutant and mundane powers of brainwashing and psychological twisting I saw we both turned out.. if not great acceptably."
Unable to handle the serious for so long she lightened it just a notch by smiling over at Aura. "Happy to hear your a mom.. and that you haven't gone on any rampages for awhile. You should find a hobby or open a shop and settle down somewhere and raise your kid and try and be the best mom you can be. Sort of just let Aura fade into obscurity and die for anyone but criminal statistic nerds and people who get hard over killers." Shrugging again as she stated her version of the truth.
"So I am sure you have questions. Lay them on me and I will try my best to answer. Can't guarantee you will like any of the answers though, but that's life."

It didn't take an expert on body language to watch as Aura tensed up as she threw shade on the whole kookie religion those bastards had dreamed up. Remy was never much for obscuring her opinion on matters, but if she had guessed Aura was still touchy about it she might have tried to deliver the blow a bit softer then she had.. maybe.. just a teeny bit. Not that she wasn't bitter herself about the whole affair. They had stolen her life from her in the literal sense.
"Sorting out tha bullshit from the truth is an important life skill. So is having an appropriate level of self respect." Remy felt like she was mentoring the woman all over again, only this time it was more true to her real feelings on matters and none of the crap she had been forced to say. Winking at Aura as she was looked at for confirmation of the plan before shrugging as it was a good a plan as any for her.
Aura broke cover and started drawing fire and Remy broke from her cover once it was obvious that most of the attention had been drawn to the 'easier' pickings. A burst of fully automatic fire sweeping the balcony on the left and moving to the right in a seamless one handed fashion. The accuracy less of a concern then forcing heads down with a few examples of their less then swift fellows. Her other hand yanking off a grenade from her webbing and tossing it left then another right shortly after their perspective sweeps. Explosions and their accompanying debris killing or wounding the men to keep them from shooting back long enough where they weren't Remy's concern any longer.
A feral grin on her race as she charged the remaining men, heedless of the few shots she took to her torso in the intervening space as she drew her pistol and executed the remainder with a single bullet a piece. The street almost eerily quiet in the wake of their combined brutal violence save for the moaning of a few temporary survivors on the balconies.
"The rest are probably holed up in their base. You up for rescuing some mutants from a cult or have you had your fill of fun for the day?"
It didn't seem to bother her that their were a few bullet holes in her fatigues. Not that she particularly cared if Aura suspected there was something different about her since their last meeting all those years ago.

Like so many things Remy was ignorant of Aura's inner turmoil. For the most of humanity she was a casual observer and if she was honest with herself Aura was simply a anomaly of interest on another otherwise straightforward day. Feelings were for the living, at least she liked to tell herself that. Being around Des was.. trying her undead fortitude in a multitude of areas. It was actually a bit of a vacation to return to the familiar circumstance of being paid to kill.
"Well those crazy a**holes in charge had lots of weird ideas kid. Kind of like their religion." At the final bit shooting a direct look at Aura as if to say 'you still believe in that crap?'
Then Aura had to go straight to the meaty questions and Remy inhaled so she could force out a bark of a laugh. "Sorry hun, I am not even alive so to speak. Far as I ever knew you were the only one who made it out alive." Not that she thought that was a bad thing. Being brainwashed was a long process to undo. Even for the dead. "If you want to get all emotional and questioning, I suggest you save it for after we deal with these bastards."
Watching Aura charge off to deal with one of their current assailants she unslung the assault rifle from her shoulder and fired at some men attempting to move into position from the second story, adding her own gunfire to the general swirl of chaos. Hastily moving to take cover behind a car and trading shots with the armed gang members with a grin on her face. A lucky ricochet or bit of shrapnel took a bit of the side of her neck out, oozing her typical black blood for a moment.
Reaching into her medkit she pulled out some duct tape and slapped some over it to conceal the wound before raising up to finish off the shooters as she moved closer towards Aura. "What a lovely day for a firefight. I think we have killed most of the stupid ones, so I'd be expecting an ambush."
Not that Aura had much cause to worry with her damnable forcefield.

Remy waved a hand in distaste at the mention of adapted's. "They eat lead like the rest of them. Damned inconvenient though." She wasn't about to go into more in depth particulars on her powers with someone who was still basically an unknown in the grand scheme of things.
"I have to say your taking the whole undead thing pretty good. Most people sort of give the ole eye boggle, unless they are judgmentally impaired somehow." Taking to roll her fingers on the arm of the chair for a moment as she thought.
"Any other pertinent questions you would like to ask? Or am I going to get the whole don't call us we'll call you schtick?" A slow deliberate grin spreading on her face as she was actually quite amused. They could have grabbed her and tossed her out and she wouldn't have put any sort of odds on how the whole situation was going to pan out when she enacted it.
"For what it is worth you have my word that if ya want me to leave I will. I'll leave some contact details with your secretary on the way out and you can keep me in your little black book. " Waving a hand a bit in a lazy gesture of unconcern one way or another. She never had any particular liking of hurting people for fun and that went double for mutants. Probably somewhere triple for a smart, beautiful mutant business woman.

Remy was surveying the carnage and looking for any potential survivors when Aura landed on the nearby car roof. Hearing the crash she whirled with her pistol coming out of the holster, pausing as.. whoever the hell it was aimed a very familiar power that she hadn't run into before. If meeting Aura in Africa didn't throw her off the tears certainly did. Slowly she slid her pistol back into its holster and tilted her head down to look over her sunglasses, eyes faintly glowing a soft orangish red.
"I am not sufficiently nicotined up for this shit." Pulling out a cigarette and lighting it up with a zippo and taking a long draw off of it. "Eh, local gangs looking to salvage the weapons before the cops move in." That was certainly easier to say then processing the sheer incalculably small probability of this whole occurrence. Fate was a bastard with a sense of humor all right. Aura also thought of her as a friend. This was going to be a weird ass day, she just knew it.
"Shoulda figured it was you. Always were messy when it came to kills." Gesturing for Aura to follow her towards where the various vehicles had come from. "Got a job to do and the only way to keep clean in a shit hurricane is to stay right in the middle. Seems some of the darker aspects of religion are making sacrifices of mutants and eating them in the belief it makes them stronger somehow." One of the highlights of being dead was she wasn't particular worried about if Aura stabbed her. It would just mean a slight delay in accomplishing her goals. Whoever was taken was probably already dead anyway so it didn't matter much to her.
"Well, uh, kiddo you certainly got big." Small talk had never been a strong suit of hers. The rest of the cigarette burnt down to ash and she flicked the butt into the burning truck.

When ones life was essentially one long stretch of hunting down the worst the fleshy bipedals that were to offer on the planet Earth it was hard to get excited about any sort of cause or movement. Being dead certainly didn't help matters either. Her admitted biggest threats in life were boredom and poverty. The unspoken threats were harder to pin down, loneliness most likely if she bothered to be introspective enough to try and figure it out. So in search of excitement and money she ended up taking a job in Africa.
Personally she thought Africa was a beautiful place and a wonderful country. Like anywhere though certain groups just seemed too want to fuck everything up for everyone else instead of stopping to smell.. whatever flowering plants existed in Africa. Take a swim at the beach. Instead you got warlords, dictators and religious zealots mucking everything up. When one had rats, you called the exterminator.
One of her mercenary contacts got in touch with her which was pretty impressive given how much she lost her phone. Des said something about being able to use the same phone number for different phones so she left all the techno babble nonsense to him. One of the few people of means in Somalia had lost a child. In all non first world countries a lack of contact after more then a week probably meant dead or in hiding. Before she knew it she had a plane ticket and a promising paycheck for a search and destroy mission. It gave her a chance to get out of the house and smuggle back some choicer pieces of hardware back to the states.
It would probably cause Des no end of surprise that despite her usual dress of daisy dukes and a tank top she did dress for the occasion. Fitted in some multi terrain bdu's and a combat vest with plenty of magazines and an assortment of guns and she was ready to party. Much to her surprise someone had started the party without her if the staccato of gunfire was any indication. Then a distinct krumpt of a mortar. She did a little shiver at the sound then ran in that direction. The sound of her gear slapping against her body drowned out by the usual sounds of warfare. The inhabitants sadly not unused to the sounds, still fleeing away from the area impeded her progress a bit.
Hearing another fwump she shouldered through a door into a taller building that overlooked the area. Bursting onto the rooftop and paused a moment to let her eyes adjust to the light while two men stared at her from the wrong side of the sandbags. She slipped one of her pistols out of her leg harness as the men scrambled for their ak's. She sent them both to their perspective gods with a single shot to the head a piece. "Still got it." Tucking the still smoking gun back away. "Well don't mind if I do~"
Hefting up an RPG onto her shoulder and kneeling behind the sandbags. Taking a moment to sight in the gun on the mortar on a different rooftop with a pleased hum. The projectile arcing gracefully over the buildings to drop into the sandbags just short of the mortar.
Grinning to herself as the mortar went up with a flash and several secondary explosions even as it tumbled into the building. "Using mortars like that in a place like this is terribly irresponsible you know." Talking to no-one in particular. A habit she got into from many years working alone. "It would be a shame to just waste it." Picking up the last RPG and loading it into the launcher. Leaning out over the street she was about to fire on the cluster of people shooting at a brick building, pivoting her shot to fire at a jeep filled with some pissed off looking people and a big gun mounted on the back. It plonked into the engine block and flipped it over in a fiery explosion as the gas tank went as well. The few who survived the meaningless seconds in between crushed as the truck a landed on top of them.
She tossed the launcher over the side of the roof casually and ducked down as she took fire from a pair of remaining people. "Well someone's pissy!" Laughing a bit as she grabbed a dead guys AK regardless of the two larger guns over her shoulders. "Waste not want not my momma always said on leftover night." Leaning over the building again to fire into the men on fully automatic, once it clicked dry loading another magazine and continuing to fire. Nothing being quite as cathartic as opening up a gun on full auto on someone else's dime. The current group of baddies dead she dropped the gun and moved down the stairs and into the street. "Shit who the hell uses a sword these days?" Spotting a few of the more grisly looking bodies. "Anyone still alive around here!?" Calling out to whomever her potential ally might be. The people had been shooting at someone.. if they weren't already dead.

Ugh, she was making Des even more antsy than anticipated. Did he hate the idea of living with her in a nicer place and giving people the wrong impression? She was self aware enough to admit that hurt some and had spent far too long bottling up her emotions, encasing them in concrete and dropping them into the ocean to let it show. Slowly she realized that Des had completely the wrong idea and it soothed her unseen ruffled feathers and paused and held up a hand to him, thankfully still out of easy earshot. "Look you know fancy people are odd. If they want to turn the place into a rental unit they'd want to do it without their neighbors knowing and being able to complain right? Makes perfect sense to have middle person looking for potential renters and using a management service to gauge interest and fill up the place before people can really do anything about it but bitch."
Perfectly happy to lead her giant cat companion along the wrong road and remove the worst of the anxiety so he can inspect the place without anxiety coloring his perceptions. A bonus was being able to happily surprise him later.
Once he looked a tad less anxious she resumed their walk up the sidewalk and gave the agent a perfunctory nod. "We are your 8 o'clock appointment."
The poor woman gave the quickest of glances to her guns then the looming cat man before resting back on Remy's face, the professional, polite smile never wavering. "Perfect right this way please." Des with his amazing gay senses would be able to tell even the agent was high end. Her clothes tailored and her shoes weren't anything to sneeze at either. Instead of leading them inside she unlocked the door and gestured for them to enter, following after them and closing the door and standing off to the side, clear of the door, but not leaving the entryway.
Remy gave a slight nod to the woman as if it was planned and looked to Des. "Well we have the run of the place. I gave it a good look on the website before coming over and your going into this blind so I will let you lead the way." Not to mention it was easier to watch him and gauge his reactions when she could peer around to look at his face or watch how his tail was acting.

The physical affection had been.. different. It was also perfectly safe and without ulterior motives as surreptitious testing lead her to believe that when he said that he was gay it wasn't any sort of weird lie to make her comfortable. In fact Remy figured he was probably in the top 10 for New York's gayest male bachelor's list. In a single night of cuddling she had received more physical affection in a single night then she could remember in the previous decade. One night tumbles in the sheets excluding and not really counting for wholesome affection. She enjoyed it, but wasn't about to ever admit it to Des.
She shot a look at Des and shook her head. "No we are not taking your tank on wheels." For a multitude of reasons. Not least of which the place they were going was in a nicer neighborhood and they weren't about to roll up for the first time in anything less than a luxury car of some type. First impressions mattered and she was self aware to admit they were probably going to be the only good impressions they were liable to leave.
"True enough, DJ Des." Shooting him a smirk that didn't reach her eyes, but softened imperceptibly at his happy wiggle dancing as the rode along. Happy to enjoy his good mood if only from a secondary position. Letting him drive wouldn't have honestly been that big of a deal except she didn't want to give up where they were going until the last moment and she didn't want to feel the closest recreation to her still heart having a heart attack. It was just safer for the denizens of New York and the surroundings states that way. A true woman of the people she was.
She shot him a look with a pinched face of confusion. "Uh, we can figure out the deets later." If he really wanted to pay her rent, she wouldn't object. Everyone had to adhere to her own principles. That was what he meant right? This domestication shit was complicated.
Before long they crossed over the Hudson river into New Jersey and headed north on the highway a bit before taking an off ramp and heading west again. The neighborhood was clearly upscale place, the houses were all in good condition and the cars that were actually parked in the street were all newer and high end. She stopped suddenly and glanced out the passenger window. "Almost missed it." Not bad for not using GPS she figured. Admittedly it was off the main road so it limited things a bit. Their was also a woman in a nice, skirt and jacket holding a leather portfolio case. She backed up slowly into the driveway and took in the property as she did so.
"Yard space looks pretty good." Giving it an approving nod, as much for the clear sightlines to the street as its aesthetic presentation. Not having a yard was a big no go for her which is why her search for a place in New York was fruitless and the houses she liked would have been more than an hour commute for Des. Neither of which were winning propositions.
"Initial impressions? Anything stand out to you before we go talk to the agent?" Looking pointedly at him for... some undefinable something. Giving him a moment to respond, before slipping out of the car with her usual easy grace. Taking a moment to wait for him to follow so they could walk up and give an impression of solidarity. Poor real estate women.

"Im impressed you managed to put your clothes on in the right order on only one cup of coffee." It was pure teasing on her part, she knew he could probably get dressed under fire and shoot back before his brain caught up with itself. As a peace offering for waking him up she handed over another cup and a breakfast sandwich in a paper bag from some small place, not fast food. She doubted he would notice the extra little touch, but it made her feel good about herself and that was increasingly important to her for some reason she couldn't fathom.
"Well if you want to live here forever we can, but figured you might like a place to stretch out a bit so to speak." Giving him the come hither gesture over her shoulder as she sauntered out the door in her usual no nonsense manner. "Keep up, didn't think you'd sleep in so long. Going to be late for our appointment." Pulling out the key fob from one of the tiny front pockets of her shorts and starting the car out of sight. Leaving it at that unless he was feeling particular talkative this morning she left it up to him to be conversant her mind clearly on other things. Rounding the corner and exiting out the parking lot a luxury model Bentley was already running. A few people were an admiring distance away, no doubt assuming it was a rental for some special occasion of which they weren't entirely wrong. It was a rental.
"Your on radio co-pilot." Unlocking the doors with a beep and giving a shooing gesture to some too close people before clambering in. Waiting a moment for Des to slip into the passenger seat before backing out and setting off for the highway heading west. "The house in Jersey, but the commute to the mansion should be under 20 minutes if you can believe the internet." Alright maybe she would try and converse with her friend and enlighten him somewhat.
