The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The woman on the other end (who Ez was starting to get more convinced was a woman) took her time answering. It gave Ez time to sip her water and consider how to proceed. She should get back to her stream, but she was dealing with a guardian figure who was clearly concerned about what she had stumbled into. It made sense, being protective of her flock.
The water was a relief, and earned a lip smack and a refreshed, "Ah!" that could be heard quietly from the camera in the other room, she was sure. Just a reminder to the audience that she was still around.
The reply she eventually got was as expected. She could leave it there and perhaps Gemma would walk away, but Ez was feeling too empathetic not to be honest. Damn lapis lazuli.
Well, if you're trying to make sure of that, you'd need to block this site and a ton of others. Seenit, Rollr, Speedigraph. Adult content's everywhere, Gemma, and curious kids will find it. But we try to keep it safe and put up barriers.
It was what drew her to the platform in the first place, but she had the luxury of being picky.
Still, might be worth blocking the site if you have that authority. It's not really on the girls trying to make a living to police what smut kids can get to on the internet. And even my main chat dancing can get pretty risque, though nothing you couldn't see on cable.
Ez was not sold on the idea that she was dealing with an actual guidance counselor, but at the same time, what a weird f*cking lie to go with otherwise. She was interested to see where the conversation went, because if this was some kid trying to lie to her, she was genuinely wondering how he was going to turn a profit on the guidance counselor line of reasoning.
According to this Gemma, one of her students left the computer open. Maybe the kid was trying to get away with acting like an adult? Nope, made no sense with that username.
Late at night to be catching your students. Assuming you're an upstanding counselor who wouldn't be hosting a student sleepover, I'm guessing boarding school?
Her parents always threatened her with boarding school, but she realized eventually they would not have allowed that little control over her day-to-day life. She was sure they had some privacy-violating access to how and what she was doing in her local private school back when she was still Catalina.
The counselor asked about age verification, which could have been a question for a kid to ask so he could find a way to circumvent the process. Then again, a kid would have accessed it and gone from there. It made more sense that an older woman would ask her directly. New-fangled internet and all.
It's part of this site's hosting service. An ID has to be scanned in and it's checked against a database. I think it's part of a federal initiative for internet security or something? It's not perfect, but what would be, right?
Honestly, Ez's hosting site put way more effort than most into validation, but at the end of the day, if a kid could grab someone's ID, there was not much that could be done from there. Still, a genuine effort was made.
It was not uncommon for people to seek individual attention, and while Ezmeralda understood the desire for that private intimacy, it was also not her business. She was not making optimal money if she was indulging someone's fantasies that she was their exclusively. That kind of service would cost a pretty penny most people were not about to drop in her lap, as nice a lap as it was.
The Hello message came quickly, and Ezmeralda replied with a quick:
Hello back. What's up, hun?
While she waited for a reply, she lived up to what she said on stream and grabbed a glass from her cabinet, holding it under her faucet and turning on the stream of water. The crystal clear glass was full when she saw a new message pop up on her screen.
Well, this was unexpected and not the typical way men tried to get her attention.
With an eyebrow raised, she swiped back a reply on the phone:
That's a new one. ShyBoy doesn't exactly sound like a guidance counselor name. Also doesn't sound like a Gemma, though I'm not here to judge. What's up?
Not everyone cared if teenagers were hanging around in their shows. On one hand, Ez could understand not wanting to ward away followers with excessive security measures, and there was always going to be worse readily available on the internet. It did not make her feel less weird about the possibility, and she was doing well enough financially to be picky. It helped when she had no qualms about seizing funds left behind by criminals she judged.
The newcomer had made some earlier comments in chat that were… well, teen boy comments. Men could just be like that on the internet, but she was keeping the stream tamer while she sussed out the newcomer. She intended to switch to an age-verified stream soon anyway, but the most recent question from ShyBoy3456 concerned her.
Teen boys who came to streams like this weren’t generally going to try talking their way into a private show. They usually just lurked and watched, waiting for something to happen. ”Well, I don’t want to be pulled from the rest of the room, and I don’t see ID verified on your account, so no private shows for you, but… well, if something’s wrong or you have something you need to talk about, you can right-click my username and open a direct message.”
She was cautious with DMs because they were private, but if this person really needed to talk about something private, shouldn’t she make herself available? She had resources on hand just in case.
As expected, when she enabled DMs, other accounts took the opportunity to send her messages as well. Even checking the previews, she could guess what some would be like. ”In the meantime, I’m going to grab myself a drink. Feeling… thirsty tonight. That said,” she shifted out of her sultry turn and into a flat deadpan, ”whoever sends me certain unsolicited pics will be both banned and dragged publicly. You’ve been warned.”
Getting up and out of the camera’s line of sight with a little shimmy, Ez snagged her phone and kept an eye on her DMs through her phone app, looking out for one from ShyBoy. Even if this was some kid, if he needed to talk, she wanted to make sure it was nothing serious.
Brushing curled locks from her forehead, Charmz smirked and shrugged her bare shoulders at the webcam she was laying in front of. It was a tame night, but she was laying on her stomach across her bed. No one in the chat was complaining. That changed with her next breathy whisper. ”Alright you heathens, this witch is going to take a shower and call it a night.” Noticing the influx of comments, she giggled and added, ”Sorry. The shower’s a single-player game tonight. Til next time.” She closed out by blowing a kiss. The chat protested, but she already clicked the stop button on her stream.
Sighing, she rolled out of bed and to the floor of her apartment, transitioning into some pushups. She had been burning some Celestite all day, keeping her in a calm, almost spacy headspace all day. That was fine for a day of lounging and being ogled, though it also probably led to a tamer show and a lighter income day. She was doing fine for herself right now, so she could take a day like that. Still, if she wanted to go out and really party tonight, she needed to get her blood pumping.
Getting to her feet, Ezmeralda grabbed a smooth fire agate from the altar on her nightstand and popped it in her mouth, letting it pass her tongue and down her throat. That would keep her fed for a while, encouraging her courage, passion, and risk-taking the longer she let that burn in her stomach.
The steamy shower helped her focus. It was part of her ritual; a cleansing of the world and her distractions. It allowed her to focus and return to the world centered and ready to bring balance to New York.
Donning her costume in the bedroom, Ezmeralda opened her jewelry chest where she had a small collection of gems neatly sorted. After debating, she picked out an amethyst, a tiger’s eye, and a garnet and consumed them in that order. She kept one of each, along with a sapphire, stored in a pouch on her belt and escaped through her alley-side window, carefully scaling the wall from her second-story studio.
She had an earpiece listening into the police radios, hoping for something she could sink her teeth into. Crime was rampant, but she needed to listen for hints to something more sinister. Suspicious activity the police were not willing to address. Reports of criminal enterprises. If nothing came up, she could press some people on the street for leads on something more corrupt than a typical B&E.
For now, she would keep to the shadows and rooftops, treading areas she was treating as high-risk for mutant abduction. What was happening was a rot in her universe, and she wanted to do anything she could to heal it.
The Crystal Witch was good at pushing people. Low-level thugs were not looking to take a fireball to the chest, and the smart ones would offer information in exchange for self-preservation.
Supposedly, there was a man involved in taking girls off the street, and many of them were mutants. He was not the one doing the deed, but everyone was pretty sure Dean C. Hackman was finding ways to hide away these abducted girls. No one knew how or why, but he was a clear lead, and CW was desperate for those at this point.
Using a burst of wind to hop from a rooftop to gently land atop a warehouse roof, the vigilante looked around to ensure no guards would be positioned up there. It was an unconventional point of entry, but criminals were paranoid.
Finding a triangular row of windows on the rooftop, CW looked down into the space and what she found validated the criminal informant’s claim. There was a well-dressed man in a suit surrounded by larger men he employed. He was talking to a greasier figure who had his own people leading bound and blindfolded women forward.
Should she intervene now? She had to be cautious, because she would be very outnumbered. More importantly, maybe there was a smarter way to play this for information. What was he going to do with the girls they had? Where did they keep them? If she held on and kept her presence quiet, maybe she could find out.
Ezmeralda wanted to put good in the world and just as she was given gifts by the Goddess and the Horned God, she could in turn give those gifts to the world and have her offerings return to her threefold. Her sexuality was a gift from The Mother, so she felt comfortable putting it out into the world. Her feelings were mixed on offering this up for money, but that was less about shame and more about using her gifts to enable capitalist greed. Still, she believed the Goddess would understand and wanted her to survive.
Her sexuality was present as always, but she liked to believe the Crone granted her enough wisdom and compassion to offer an empathetic ear and some words of support when necessary.
Scanning through questions, Ezmeralda noticed a newcomer. It was a basic question and they probably could have checked her FAQ, but something drew her eye to the guest question and Ez trusted where her instincts led her. ”Oh, a new guest? Welcome,” she greeted warmly.
There was the possibility whoever was dropping in was wondering why she still had clothes on, though the way the question was posed, it seemed more innocent. She hoped this was not some kid who stumbled onto her; this was why she had strict rules about what she did and did not do in public rooms. ”Well, in this public chat, I mostly just relax and hang out. Chat with who’s around. Maybe dance a little if the right song comes on shuffle.”
Not exactly the way she made her rent money, but you could not just come into the channel hot and heavy. The session had its own foreplay, so to speak. ”When I get into the right mood to put on a bit more of a show, I jump behind the member wall. If I’m going to get scandalous, I need to know everyone in the chat has passed age-verification.” Another warning in case the guest was some delinquent looking to get his (or her) kicks. ”And when I’m really in the mood to get naughty, that all goes behind a paywall. And believe me, I make it worth it.” ABS: Always Be Selling.
”Am I your first camgirl, honey? Just looking for a little company tonight? Seems like loneliness is an epidemic tonight,” she admitted, noticing the theme of her chat today. That was what she could do for her fans tonight, right? Help ease that loneliness.
Ezmeralda was in a giving mood and she was going to blame the cheap lapis lazuli she ate earlier, before she started streaming. It had a way of heightening her compassion and empathy, which always made for a more engaging stream. She sat on her bed, legs folded beside her and a wireless keyboard in front of her. When she picked out the miniskirt and cropped haltertop, she had expected to get some requests to dance early, but so far, it had mostly been just... talking. It was about as wholesome a day as she had as a camgirl.
They were in relationship talks of all things, and it ranged in tone depending on what the audience was willing to share. Some people came to streams looking for instant-gratification, but some just wanted to connect. There was plenty of spice online for those who needed it, but people liked that she was a real person. Some of the audience were not socially-adept. Some were just attention-starved. Thankfully, Ez was in the headspace to help whoever was coming through today. "You're still in your twenties. I know things feel completely derailed, but life puts us down paths. Maybe this is just a time for your paths to diverge. Life's long; maybe they rejoin or maybe you both find new paths. The universe doesn't just lead us down dead ends, and it's a long way to forever."
She saw a thank you and a promise to try keeping spirits up from the heartbroken member of the chat and another followed by asking her if she had a boyfriend on her path. Ezmeralda laughed. "I'm not big on relationships," she admitted when asked. Her voice on stream was smooth and breathy, both to distinguish Charmz from Ezmeralda and because sex-appeal did pay the bills. "I'm still young; plenty of fun left for me out there. Still, I'd be lying if forever doesn't have a romantic ring to it. Whether I believe in it? Well, there are crazier things in this realm."
Looking through the comments for the next person she wanted to reply to, a notification came up in the corner of the screen to get her attention. She offered a full-lipped pout at the camera. "Okay guys, I'm really enjoying our talk today, but I got a notification that someone failed their age verification." She ran fingers into her hair, tousling it. "If I think any kids are hanging in the chat, we're going to switch to a private stream before I even think about dancing. And I want to dance," she purred, "So if you're under eighteen, leave. Everyone else though, talk to me. What's on your minds this lazy Sunday?"

Mutations
Mutation description: Crystal Metabolizing Rather than eating food, Ezmeralda derives her nutrition from mineral crystals. Ingesting the stones as one would food, her mouth, esophagus, and digestive system are built to handle the hard, potentially jagged stones and break down and process these minerals. To derive enough nutritional value from these stones to go about her day normally, she needs to eat roughly half a pound to a pound of crystals. Her system processes crystals throughout the day, “burning” them for fuel. Gemstone Property-Based Elemental Bursts When certain high-quality cut gemstones are consumed, they are stored in Ezmeralda’s body and can be burned as fuel as a last resort, but they are otherwise stored. Depending on the type of stone, Ezmeralda can “burn” these gems to access elemental abilities.
Garnet, Ruby- Ezmeralda expels a burst of flame from her palm.
Sapphire, Lapis Lazuli- Ezmeralda rapidly expels a dense mist that can hang in the air for minutes.
Peridot, Tiger Eye- Ezmeralda’s skin is reinforced to a rock-like durability. This effect starts from her palms and covers her back from there.
Amethyst, Citrine- Wind whips up and forms around Ezmeralda, spinning around her as the eye.
Strengths: Ezmeralda does not need to eat food for her nutrition, and quartz crystals are surprisingly inexpensive. She can also keep three gems “stored” at a time as a resource. These allow her some flexibility with offensive and defensive capabilities. Weaknesses and Limitations: Money Money Money While eating cheap crystals is affordable, gemstones are pricey, so using her powers actually comes at great monetary cost. Dinner Dates? Nope Ezmeralda gets no nutritional value from actual food, and if she does eat it, she’ll get sick akin to someone with lactose intolerance eating a sundae. The food will quickly become weight gained and she will have to work it off through exercise. Burn, Baby, Burn Gemstones burn when they are used for their properties, and while the burn rate can vary between gems or intensity of usage, 1 carat will generally burn with about ten to fifteen minutes worth of usage as a baseline. Limited Gemslots Ezmeralda can only have three gemstones stored to burn at a time. If she tries consumes a fourth gem, the oldest stone she stored will be passed through her and unused. This means she can only have three elements maximum at any given time. Over the Lips, Through the Gums, Look Out Stomach, Here It Comes… Soon Eating a gem does not make it immediately available. It takes about a minute for a gem to go from swallowed to stored, but in that minute, if Ez has three gems already stored, the third one will pass. This means for that minute, Ez only has access to two gems. Elemental Weaknesses and Limitations
Fire- Bursts of flame cannot travel far before dissipating, being most effective within ten feet. She cannot sustain a stream of fire, cannot control the flames she creates, and individual bursts of flame burn more than sustained usage of the others. Excessive use of these gems in a short time will drop Ezmeralda’s body temperature quickly.
Water- The mist is dense and Ezmeralda actually has no greater ability to see through it than anyone else. It can generally cover a hundred-foot area before dissipating completely, though it would be less dense at the edges. Excessive use of these gems in a short time will dehydrate Ezmeralda quickly.
Earth- The rock-like skin is durable, but not unbreakable. High-caliber gunfire will shatter it, and it will not keep her totally unharmed from standard gunfire, though it does hold up well to knives. The rate at which it coats her skin is about an inch per second, so there is time where she is vulnerable. This skin also makes Ezmeralda slightly less maneuverable. Excessive use of these gems in a short time will leave Ezmeralda lethargic.
Wind- The gusting wind is strong enough to make it hard for people directly around Ezmeralda to balance and it will kick up small items around her, but she is not creating a tornado. This is enough of an air cushion that she can use this gust to soften her descent when falling or dropping from a high place. If she wants to burn her own stones rapidly, the vortex could be enough to take someone off their feet, but this will burn up her gem about sixty times faster than her standard burn rate. Excessive use of these gems in a short time will make it harder for Ezmeralda to breathe.
Crystal Emotional Side-Effects Whatever crystals Ezmeralda is metabolizing will influence her based on the traits they are said to encourage. Burning Clear Quartz helps her stay calm and clear, Amethyst makes her less prone to stress, and Garnet makes her prone to passion and intimacy. These are effects she cannot turn off, and if she burned gemstones, those effects will be stronger and linger for hours after the stone has finished burning.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Ezmeralda’s Strength, Reflexes, Stamina, and Flexibility are all above average for a woman of her height and weight due to her time training as a gymnast and a fighter. Her speeds, she admits, is nothing special and roughly average for a woman of her build. Fighting Style: Since her parents did not pay close attention to the ways Ezmeralda occupied her time, she used their money to take courses in kickboxing and aikido. Up close and personal, she uses a mix of techniques from those lessons to defend herself. She also learned to shoot a firearm and got her license to carry, so at a distance or in a firefight, she can hold her own under pressure. Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Between her lessons in two styles, Ez has a firm grasp on grappling and kicking to control space. That said, she is 5’2” so her reach with both her arms and legs is limited compared to some attackers. Her strikes are also not as aggressive, particularly in hand-to-hand, which is a style that can be exploited by someone who can defend against her initial strikes and take advantage of the sloppiness of those strikes to counter-attack.
While she learned to fight foes larger than her, there’s a limit to how effective that can be. This is why she supplements her fighting style with her powers and, when necessary, a gun. She is no on the streets to sacrifice herself.
History Of Your Character Ezmeralda will not talk about it, but she was born into a comfortable lifestyle. She was also born as Catalina Pérez. Her parents’ wealth allowed her to enjoy relative luxury and while they were never the most affectionate parents, Catalina and her siblings were spoiled to make up for it. When Catalina wanted to learn the guitar? She was given lessons. Gymnastics? A coach. Witchcraft? Okay, that one they were less willing to approve of, but Catalina kept studying that one in private. It was not like her parents paid enough attention to care about what she was up to in her private life. As long as their children were happy, healthy, and occupied, they could focus on their own affairs.
The problem came when a fourteen-year-old Catalina stopped being healthy and no one could figure out why. By all accounts, she was drastically malnourished and no diet was fixing her. The family was concerned she had some undiagnosable illness, but they never considered the truth; she was a mutant. Through a stroke of luck, delirious and alone in her room, Catalina needed to eat something—anything. A piece of nearby quartz triggered a hunger response in her and, without overthinking it, she let herself eat the stone, choking it down only to find it passed through her throat surprisingly easily.
And then, much to everyone’s surprise, she started making a full recovery. No one could explain it and Catalina was not about to explain to her parents that she was eating rocks and throwing away her actual dinner. They were happy to see things returning to the status quo, so Catalina focused on avoiding meals when she could, realizing they kept making her feel sick.
Once she was on her mineral diet, Catalina found herself blossoming into her adolescence, bolstering her confidence and social skills at the private school she was enrolled in. After a string of early boyfriends, her parents considered putting her in an all-girls school and she responded by bringing home a string of girlfriends in her junior year.
It was the summer leading into her senior year when Catalina discovered how her parents made their money. Sneaking around the mansion late at night with a classmate, Catalina overheard her parents conducting a private meeting in a hidden study. She listened in horror as they spoke about their plans; M distribution, human trafficking, blackmail. She was faced with the truth that her parents earned their power through crime and exploitation.
Angry, Catalina held her tongue, biding her time until she was eighteen. It was apparent to her that the freedom she had as a kid was an illusion. They would let her indulge in her curiosities, but her lessons were all at home. Her school was private and closely watched, as was her time as a gymnast. She waited, taking up new hobbies like martial arts and firearms. When it was time for her to go to college, despite her parents’ protests, she applied to a school in Chicago. They were not keen on letting her so far out of their sight, but she argued defiantly for why it was the right school.
And it was all a lie. In the first week of school, Catalina staged her own disappearance and ran. She ran and retreated underground, using whatever money she snuck off with to get her new life started. She did not want to use her parents’ blood money, but it helped set her up with a false name and ID, giving her a chance to become Ezmeralda in a city too crowded to care about noticing her: New York City.
Continuing her training while she laid low, she let a few years pass. She let herself continue to blossom and used her looks to start a career online, flaunting what she had to make enough money to buy herself cheap crystals. She waited three years before she started showing her face online, finally convinced her appearance had changed enough to make it harder for anyone to associate her with an eighteen-year-old who went missing years earlier in a different city.
When looking over her collection of crystals that came with her into her new life, Ezmeralda felt a rising anger when she held a ruby necklace her mother had bought her. In an act of defiance, she forced the gem out of its setting and ate it. She was surprised to realize something felt different when she ate the gem. Something… powerful. Seeing this as the goddess giving her a sign, she started exploring the effects gemstones had on her and the effect she could have on the world around her.
Ez was focused on keeping herself safe, but after hearing news reports of a widespread mutant-abduction epidemic, she felt her blood boil like it did when she first discovered her parents’ crimes. She wanted to do something about the crime that kept some oppressed and others thriving. Finally comfortable with her mutation, her fighting ability, and her sidearm, she hit the night streets as the Crystal Witch.
