The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Blue made a face at Juniper, giving something between a grimace and a scowl. "All things considerin', the amount of blood actually on your floor is minimal. I even made sure not to drip it through the building on the way up. Had I managed to save some clothing I probably could have kept it out of the hallway too." He did not mention his previous state of nakedness in the presence of the adult administering first aid. That was something best left for later.
There was suddenly a feeling from his stomach, and Blue felt his eyes snap open with surprise. It was less the sensation of his skin knitting, more the feeling of ... "Oh, that's what heat feels like." he almost looked like a child, temporarily fascinated by the sensation. It went away a bit too fast and he almost missed it. The disruption in his perfectly regulated body temperature was bizarre. More than anything that woke him back up.
While she checked his eyes Blue stayed still, then listened to the instructions. He inwardly cringed at the very idea of eating 'leafy greens'. What am I, a rabbit?. Again, he behaved. He said nothing. He remained where he was like a docile puppy, snuggling against the floor and looking for his lost math book. After checking he was no longer at risk of bleeding everywhere, he shifted to his side so he could collect it. Ah, sweet fire. he hugged it to his chest and little ringlets of flames came back to life between the pages.
He tried to keep the actual smoke somewhat smothered by his body. He didn't want to harm Juniper with smoke inhalation, but wasn't sure how to cuddle with a fire without any form of smoke being released. He just wanted the energy, comforted by the feeling of flames against his skin.
Blue obeyed all the instructions and didn't flinch despite the pain. It was easy for him not to react. He spend most his life pretending pain didn't bother him, and this was no different. He didn't know Andrea. He wasn't going to be weak in front of her. Yes, she was helping, but Juniper was his friend, and this doctor was not. He had his jaw set and kept quiet. There wasn't anything he wanted to talk about now.
She said he was lucky. Blue gave a slight nod as if acknowledging it. He knew that much at least. The angry knife-wielder had been aiming deeper, and it well could have been his lungs. He could feel just how close it had been, as if the knife had been a brush with him against death. Honestly, he hadn't expected to actually get injured. Confidence had been his downfall this time.
The doctor took off a glove and warned him. Blue didn't move, and had no intention to. When she offered another option involving blood he didn't flinch. "I'll just have to trouble you for option B. I'm not concerned, you can proceed." He shut his eyes, missing his math book. Without the fire he just wanted to sleep now. When he started to slip toward sleep, breath slowing more, he felt a persistent prod against one shoulder.
He opened his eyes back up lazily and looked toward Juniper. "You are...no fun today, darlin'." He didn't like the concern. It was annoying. But, at least she cared. It was a lot for his brain to think about, and his headache felt worse. He just wanted this to be over.
The doctor was...kind. One of those genuine kind people that honestly made it hard to dislike them. Blue was told to keep his flames from burning the nice lady and he nodded once to show he was listening. It probably felt weird sitting there with your hands going through fire that wasn’t really fire. It was warm though. By the way the snakes had been longing to get closer they must have sensed the heat source.
Blue grimaced at the mention of being knocked out. ”All the same t’ you, I think I’ll stay awake for the moment. Don’t fancy bein’ knocked out. Although there sure was a good attempt of that earlier...” he reached one hand up and touched his head. He was pretty sure that injury was fine, there hasn’t been blood at least.
The snake lady was asking questions again. Pain? ”Do what you need to, luv.” He was certain he was getting a heavy dose of karma served cold today. Oh well. He would be lying if he pretended it would fix him in the end. Nothing could fix someone broken beyond repair like Blue. He was stone cold silent as she worked, all the playing fine from his expression. He drew back on experience from his younger years, when taking a fist was normal. You didn’t cry or it would make it worse. You didn’t flinch and let him know he scared you.
The knife had missed anything important, that was the small miracle. The angry teleported had managed to wedge the blade in for the thin, deep cut. The angle suggested they had been aiming for something more serious, driven toward the heart, missing by luck.
When she worked, he didn’t flinch, jaw set and flames only occasionally giving a flicker of the pain he felt.
Blue felt a little bit of a smile again. ”Pretty sure we wouldn’a got along so well without your sticky fingers. An’ maybe you tolerate me because I don’t owe anythin’ worth stealing.” It was true he pretty much did what he wanted and he could lose a place to live and not worry about to. Being immune to cold and heat took away most the need to have shelter or a home.
Although, being here, and having someone help him was nice. This was nice. His math book was even more nice...
Blue has been resting with his new heat source when the knock finally arrived. Somehow in the middle of the situation he had forgotten Juniper could phase and therefore would really get burnt by him, but blood loss was a thing even the strongest seemed victim too. And he wasn’t the strongest. He as a lazy, long-legged cat who just wanted to have somewhere warm to bask and enjoy himself.
He blinked up at the snakes, and the woman. The woman with a lot of snakes on her head. ”Sorry luv, I don’t have the best concept of time right now. I got stabbed, an’ I walked here. And Juni found me some pants on account of me burning the rest of my clothes being a real ass. The stabbin’ was deserved, in case you were wonderin’. Don’ judge her for helpin’ though,” he used his arm to sort of smother the flame out of the math book, so only his blue natural light remained. He missed the energy he had been leaching, but felt it would be simpler to be treated without extra variables.
This whole conversation was getting heavy. Heck, it was like the world was getting heavy. He wanted to sleep, but she kept talking, and he knew they were both sort of forcing their way through this right now. Dying was bad. Dying was something he had no intention of doing today.
"I mean, at least you gave it a shot. Can't say feelings hurt when I never gave 'em a shot. Heck, this is the closest I've probably had to a friendship." Boy that was pathetic. This whole situation was stupid and ridiculous and he hated it. So why was he still even talking to her?
"I take it back, if you're parents made you feel that way then F*** 'em. You don't seem to have as many problems as you seem to think. I think you are one of the more tolerable people in this world."
He grumbled as she scolded him, and gently nudged her hand. "Jus'... get away so I don't hurt you, luv. Maybe...Maybe I can at least...burn something." He looked around, and spotted something nearby, reaching out and snatching what he vaguely recognized as a math textbook. Pulling it to his torso, he let the flames in his hands heat back up and lick the pages. It didn't take much for a fire to start and he awkwardly held his hand in the middle of the heat. He didn't want to create anything to big, just enough to leach some energy. He kept the book against his torso where he wouldn't risk lighting anything else on fire.
"If it ge's too intense, jus'....throw water on it, or somethin'...water won't hurt me." He felt like he had explained that once before, but it seemed worth noting again. The flames helped a little, he wasn't losing light so much now. He could never have guessed he would be cuddling a mathbook though as if his life depended on it.
Blue didn't read books, so he wasn't sure what a house elf was. He assumed it was some type of nerd code though so he just let it go. He relaxed more when she talked about relationships being too complicated. That earned a rare smile for him. For a moment, he almost looked like a normal guy. Well, as normal as he could when he was always covered in blue flames, although they had gotten a bit dimmer right now.
"Relationships are just another way to hurt people. Hurtin' people is somethin' I do jus' fine enough all on my own, don't need to add another person to the mix." Did he sound bitter? Certainly not wishful, he had no desire to be cared for, or 'loved', what have you. Though, the friendship thing hadn't been so bad. He wouldn't write that off as a lost cause yet.
He chuckled slightly as she described her parents, and the hand on top of his helped. He could feel his own palm shake a little trying to keep the pressure. F*** it all. This was a kick between the legs and then some. Talking feelings on her floor while she tried to keep him from literally bleeding out.
"My dad was just an ass. Mum's been long gone. Left me a name and good riddance. Learned to burn the f***er if he hit me, and when I was old enough, I left. At least your parents sound okay. Weird, but weird isn't the worst thing if you ask me."
Blue wasn't quite sure where Juniper ran off to, but she returned with pants. Odd...looking pajama pants, but they were pants, nonetheless. With as much dignity as he could muster, he held his hand to his stomach, and wiggled into the clothing. He did manage to shoot her one look while he did.
"Generally speaking, we usually have the pants going the opposite direction. This is a change." It was actually rather hard to get the pants on, but he managed without her help. He relaxed back against the floor, feeling tired from the experience.
"You look a lil pink. You steal 'em from your boy toy?" he chortled. While they had their own fun from time to time, he wouldn't be surprised if there was someone Juniper genuinely had feelings for. Blue didn't do feelings, but he couldn't blame people that did.
The towel was feeling wetter, and blue was having a harder time holding it to his stomach. This was an experience that was twisting with his emotions. This was what it was like to feel helpless, wasn't it? Just, laying there, in someone else's hands. He never cared who he hurt, or what he made them feel with, but he did not envy this sensation. His flames burned a little lower, closer to his body. He was tired. He really just wanted to curl up in a little fire and take a nap. He found himself leaning against Juniper again, but forced himself to stay awake.
Survival 101: never sleep when you're bleeding to death. "Did I ever tell you Blue is my actual name? Mum had a horrible sense of humor. Give birth to a baby who is always on fire, name him Blue," it was something he couldn't remember ever telling anyone. He couldn't remember the last time someone in this city knew his actual name. He was pretty sure April just kept calling him Matchstick or Tinderbox on and off.
Blue had actually prepared to be smacked once he admitted his crimes, but wondered if he looked worse than he assumed because no hits came his way. He looked up at Juniper as she scrolled through her phone, feeling that weird sensation again. Gratitude. Who would have thought that he, Blue, would some day reach a point he had to get assistance on something. Or actually needed a friend.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Who was using that word? Not him, nope. If there was any F word involved, what they had was not friendship. Although, listening to her on the phone with some type of nurse trying to decide how to stitch his wound killed that idea again. As did the sort of comforting contact she was giving. Hmm. Okay, that was nice. Blue shut his eyes like a lazy lizard again and sighed.
"Can't cauterize it anyway, luv. Immune to heat. Could grab a hot iron and not hurt myself. Makes it harder t' stitch." He rested his head against her leg when she sat down. Then she mentioned finding him pants and he sighed.
"Where're you gonna find pants that'll fit me, darlin'?" There was a rumble of a laugh in his question, and he looked up at her again. Maybe it was the blood loss making him so receptive to her. Or the head wound. He touched his head thoughtfully, feeling the small bump there where he got hit by the napkin dispenser. That would leave a mark too.
Blue had honestly never felt glad to see someone, but the emotion of gratitude filled him when the door opened. Standing watching your own blood force itself between your fingers was really an eerie feeling. Up until that point pain hadn't registered, and adrenaline had held him upright, but being pulling into the room reminded him that this frickin' hurt.
He managed not to get blood on anything until he was handed a towel, and he used that to secure the wound before standing there a little awkwardly. His flames made it less obvious he had no clothing, but he still knew it was generally rude to just sit anywhere when you were naked. He may not be the most well mannered human, but when you were begging for assistance, you generally tried to show some courtesy at least.
"You say that now, luv, but I'd rather not have you hollerin' at me later for gettin' blood on your only couch. Stealin' a new one would require a bit of effort on our parts to get into your place without suspicion," he teased. There was still a little humor left in him as he found a spot on the ground and sat there instead. He kept pressure on the wound, but blood was already drying all over his arm and hand. It felt dry and cake-y and he disliked that.
"What happened?" He almost looked sheepish for a moment. "There was a disagreement over a coffee, and there was fire. Then there was this girl, we exchanged words, she threw some punches, and I tried to set her on fire. So, her girlfriend stabbed me. At least, I think it was their girlfriend? Could have been a guy." Blue laid back against the floor, feeling exhausted recounting the story. He wished he had more time to stay in the fire he had made. It would have helped now that he felt so sleepy.
"I know, I know. I shouldn't set people on fire. Givin' the stab wound, I'd say we are even though. I take it you people call that karma, ya?"
Walking through the streets of New York didn't gather as much attention as you would expect. Given that Blue was A) on fire, B) bleeding from a knife wound on his stomach and C) naked, you would expect someone to at least look twice. But maybe he was just too odd to glance at. Did they worry they would be forced to help? Be attacked? Be caught on camera in some weird television show? Whatever the reasons, he made it to Juniper's house without anyone giving him trouble.
At the door, he wondered what he should say. He had cooled down enough now (literally) that he realized he hadn't made the best choices. Lighting a building on fire with people inside was a bit evil, even for him. Lighting a girl on fire was something he knew Juniper would certainly disapprove of. But he was in need of medical attention, and clothing, and this was the only person he knew he could turn to.
Unhappily, he knocked, and prayed someone was home. At least he didn't get cold, but having to stand in a hallway naked was always weird. He gave a nod to a random neighbor walking past. Yup, just casually standing here. Nothing to see.
Blue had one big flaw as a villain, and that was their confidence. When you could hide in the middle of an inferno, you didn't always plan on someone joining you there. The stranger joining them was not their usual target. The girl they hit on had been the usual, this was just the pissed off SO that was out for blood.
Blue generally tried to avoid those...
They quickly brought an arm up to deflect the punch, and returned with a swing of their own, slamming a fist into the punk's mouth. They didn't see the knife coming from the other direction, however, and cursed as it buried somewhere into his torso. Hell... Making a grab for hair, he snarled, wishing he had left some clothing intact. There had been nothing to stop the weapon from digging in, and he grabbed it, letting the metal go white hot.
He was immune to heat so there was no way to burn the wound closed. But he could make sure the punk didn't get another cut at him.
"You like to play with fire?" He lifted the knife free, a red blade in his hand now. "Come on, let's play."
Blue had taken the time after the two disappeared to go behind the counter and steal an almost finished coffee for himself. If he was going to sit and enjoy the flames, he may as well grab a drink while he could. He had only managed a couple chugs when someone returned, yelling at him.
Blue blinked, then smirked, setting down the cup.
"Wha'ssamatter? Jealous I hit on your girlfriend? Psh, she seems like too much of a b**** for my taste," he scoffed, throwing the empty cup at Seven. Blue was not a fighter, generally. He was tall, lazy, and while he was faster than most people he tended to hide behind his powers. The person in front of him showed none of that reserve. Heck, they just teleported into a burning building to yell at him.
Blue stayed behind the fire, drinking up the energy from the flames. He had already burned a lot of his clothing off, the rest wouldn't last long, especially because his torso was just sort of nesting in the middle of a fire now. The pants wouldn't last. They never did. He was going to be walking home naked it seemed.
Blue was bored, and when he was bored, things caught on fire. It wasn't his fault. Okay, it really was his fault. But he had been forced to behave a lot, especially when he was around Juniper. He didn't want to lose that...friendship? Whatever it was, he was good at not singeing her.
The incident at the coffee place had been hard to explain. He was tired one morning, and came here for a coffee. Some little snob had messed up the coffee, and instead of getting caffeine like he hoped, he got the worst black liquid he had ever tasted. He had come in to have words with the brat, and then found himself distracted. The blue-haired girl behind him with the nose ring had seemed amusing, and he took the moment to test the waters.
Shut down, locked out. Well, that was short lived. After a few more comments, he went to the front of the store and found the girl. "So, you and I need a chat about your coffee making skills."
The girl had a moment of confidence and glared at him. "Sir, I have other customers to deal with. Don't make me call my manager---eeeeek! Fire! Holy shh---you are actually catching things on fire over a coffee?"
Blue tilted his head and smirked, "No, I came in here to complain about a coffee. But I'm setting things on fire because the second little piece of work decided to mouth off to me. Maybe you all will learn to think before you speak next time."
BAM!!! Something knocked him over the counter. Off the counter? He watched the barista get dragged away, and sat up, feeling angrier. He had only set a few fires, but now he was mad. Fine. Let the whole place burn. See if he cared!
Angrily he got up and spotted the girl about to head for the exit. He grabbed her wrist and decided they should have a longer conversation. And she punched him. And then, there was another girl. Guy? Blue blinked at the new arrival, bristling as the blue-haired girl beamed. Oh, she smiled at them. This new punk?
"I thought you were shopping honey! Uh, is that...possible?" Mae gestured at a small shimmer near her neck as if asking a question. Blue didn't know what that meant, but he also didn't like getting ignored.
"That's the second time you've hit me, luv. And it'll be the last time!" his fire seemed to change, going from mild and colorful to full heat. There was a scream, and the girl was yanked away from his grip. They disappeared, leaving Blue glaring at empty air. Fine, let the building burn. See if he cared.
Blue was not opposed to a hotel. In fact, considering their situation it was probably the better idea. He had a card they could use, and any damages would be billed to his old man. The drunk ass would probably pay it without even knowing why he had spent so much in New York anyway. Blue was more than happy to take advantage of the free funds for this night.
The place they found was nice enough. It was probably some type of tourist destination with a plate of cookies, a well lit lobby, and an overly helpful front desk clerk. With a decent tip, and the credit card, they were taken care of and on their way without much problem.
Getting to the room Blue waited until the door was shut then finally drew his companion closer. His hands snaked along the line of her hips, up her back, slipping just under her shirt to find the warm skin underneath. The kisses traded fire for a moment before he pulled back just enough to smirk down at her. "So are you still teaching me manners, or have I been permitted leniency on good behavior." He was very eager to see just how much hotter she was than him.
Blue wasn't one who liked to be led along, but April was certainly a siren in her own way. The flames were just enticing enough to keep him wanting more, and the dancing gave enough contact to stir, well, the rest of him. Throw in one or two kisses, he was somewhat annoyed how tempted he was. Fine, she won. He accepted the kiss and decided if this was losing, he was okay with it.
"Lead the way, luv," there was a satisfied rumble to his voice, and he felt like a lizard basking in the sun. Fire had that effect on him, releasing inhibitions and relaxing his mind. It was better than a drink to a stressed mind. His powers made him feed of the flames, seeking energy from it, and she was probably using it to her advantage at this point.
There was something almost comical being able to reach through someone as hot-headed as he was and tease the almost animal instinct inside to burn.
