The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Dante froze as he looked at her. Did she even know he'd tried to call? Or did she think he just stood her up? Either way, it probably wasn't a very good impression.
Meanwhile, Duke wasn't as conflicted. He merely sat in front of Zoe and gave a happy bark, tail wagging as Dante finally caught up to them. Then, Zoe handed him the leash and he took it with a nod. "Yeah...he got away from me. I don't know what got into him...he normally doesn't do that," he said, shooting the dog a glance only for Duke to wag his tail, tongue lolling out of his mouth.
"So uh..." He paused a moment, looking at her. "How was Africa?"
Dante sighed as he went through his routine of walking Duke through the park. He felt like he'd fallen into a rut lately; he hadn't really gotten out much, hadn't heard from his sister in awhile, hadn't really done...anything aside from the usual song and dance. He was realizing that starting a new life was hard, especially when your only friend and companion was a dog. He loved Duke, the dog had been with him through thick and thin, but sometimes you just needed a human companion.
He'd met someone awhile back. Someone he liked, but when he finally got the nerve to call her about a month prior, he was told she had gone to Africa. Every now and then he'd think on that and find himself spiraling into a pit of sadness and self-doubt.
Suddenly, however, Duke perked up and took off at a full run, quickly exhausting the leash, which slipped out of his hand as the dog bounded through the park.
"Duke!"
He took off as fast as he could, trying to catch up to the wayward bulldog-mix but if Duke didn't want Dante to catch him...Dante wasn't going to catch him.
Duke followed the familiar scent of a woman he knew--a woman he liked, and stopped in front of her as Dante came walking up later, panting.
"Damn it, Duke! I--"
He looked up to see Zoe, and his face turned a light shade of pink. "Oh, uh....Hey Zoe..."
He shook his head with a smirk at her reaction. It was cute, if a little obnoxious, but it was letting him see a little more of her personality. It meant they could hang out a little more, besides, he owed her a favor now but whether that was a good or a bad thing remained to be seen.
Well, he owed a cute girl a favor, how bad could that be, right? Well, he soon realized that depended on the girl whom he knew next to nothing about. And she was going to save it, great....that meant he'd have time to squirm, to wonder what the hell she was up to. And then came the question, a wide curveball that looked like it was going to miss the plate but came right in at the corner.
"Mountain climbing? No, I haven't," he was going to elaborate but she had offered her hand by this point, so the young mutant reached out and took it, managing to put money on the bar to pay for their tabs before being led out the door. His mind was racing as she was leading him off; he had no idea where they were going, but something in his gut told him it wasn't going to be a motel or anything of that nature...
Dante chuckled at the other mutant's suggestion. "That isn't a bad idea, actually," he said before waving the bartender over and asking for a bag of ice. The bartender gave a smile and a nod, then quickly came back with a bag.
"Rough night, kid?" "Heh, yeah. Let's just say I learned not every bar is as mutant friendly as you guys are," he replied, holding the ice to his face with one hand as the other brought his drink to his lips. "Yeah, I understand that, but that's what you get for going somewhere else," the stout bartender joked before giving a grin and walking away to tend to other patrons.
Turning back to Ezra, he listened intently, then gave a nod. "Yeah, some people just like to provoke others. Hell, this isn't the first bruise I've sported for defending a mutant. Growing up, my baby sister was always a prime target for bullies who liked to pull her tail, or just mess with her. I got in so much trouble at school," he gave a slight, nostalgic chuckle. "But...given the chance, I'd gladly do it all over again. People can't help how they look, how they were born."
He paused, looking Ezra over. "Like I said, anytime." He gave a smile as he finished off his drink and set the empty bottle on the counter.
Dante quirked a brow as the larger gentleman spoke; it really didn't explain too much to be honest, but it was an interesting bit of knowledge. Then again, the two men had just met, even if the smaller man believed that getting the smoke punched out of him warranted a little bit more. But he said nothing of it, just raised his bottle to his lips with a nod. It was then that he felt this...odd, sensation in his face. It was a surge of pain in his cheek that almost felt like it had a pulse.
Pausing, he put the glass bottle to his cheek, letting the cool glass come in contact with the wound for a little bit. "That's not gonna feel too pleasant in the morning," he mused, shaking his head slightly. "Well, timid ain't necessarily a bad thing. Keeps you out of trouble," he said, taking another healthy swig of his drink as he looked over at the larger mutant.
For the first time since they'd started playing, the pair found themselves with their backs against the wall. They were doing a decent job at holding off the boss--though its HP was still barely dented, they were still putting up quite the fight. That is until the dragon's tail appeared on the other side of the screen, effectively bypassing the meat-shield that was Dante's barbarian, and laying the wizard out in one fell swipe.
He noticed Kitra's frustration, and her subsequent grumpy expression, and he willed himself to keep fighting. Her buffs had worn off, and his health wasn't so great anymore, but he was still giving it all he had. At least for about thirty seconds, at which point he fell, bested by the dragon's bite, and the big, bloody "Game Over" took over the screen. He was disgruntled, though he knew the second she went down that he wouldn't be far behind; as much as slaying that dragon would have hopefully impressed her, old videogames were not that cooperative.
"Hey, we gave it a hell of a go," he said with a chuckle as he looked into her eyes. Then, without even thinking too much on it, the shorter mutant leaned in, very briefly and gently letting his lips meet hers in a soft kiss that lasted all of a few seconds.

He smirked behind the kiss; it reminded him of their first--and only date, and it was sort of making him regret not calling her back. Though he really wasn't the kind of guy who did the second date anymore. Not often, anyway. But now, feeling her hands on his neck and behind his head, he was really regretting not calling her.
He pulled back from the kiss, tugging her shirt over her head and tossing it to the floor. "I will say this was a pleasant surprise," he murmured, diving right back into the kiss again, leading her to the couch.

Dante put his cigarette out and tossed it in the trash as he walked inside and took a breath of familiar air. His home turf, if one would venture to say.
He chuckled as his circumstantial drinking buddy ordered something with a little kick to it this time. That a boy; you've earned it. And then, Ezra was speaking to him, and he curled his fingers around his bottle and took a hearty swig before looking at him. "Yeah, the smoke back there kinda surprised me too," his voice dropped to a mumble as he added, "Never had it knocked outta me before..." A pink blush rose to his cheeks as he turned back to his beer.
"I can manipulate smoke, but I actually have to have breathed some in to be able to use it, hence the cigarette," he explained. "So what about you? What's your story?"
Dante listened to her words, and he was right about something going on, being wrong with her, but it didn't have anything to do with him. Or maybe, in a way, it did. As she finished speaking, he leaned back to look at her and everything suddenly just clicked, and now it was quite obvious what she wanted.
His arms around her waist, he pulled her into a passionate kiss, closing his eyes; somehow he missed that. He didn't know how he could have been so stupid with how obvious it was, but...well he hadn't quite pegged Zoe as that type of girl. Though there was nothing wrong with being wrong, right?

"That bad, huh?" he asked with a wince. Then again, if she was showing up at his doorstep of all people, she must have been having a rough time of it. He looked up at her, her arms still around his neck and his still around her waist as he gave a slight shrug.
"Though," he murmured as he continued looking up at her, "from your actions, I think it's safe to say you don't wanna talk about it?" He pulled her closer as he rested his head on her shoulder, just trying to process this whole crazy situation.

Sure, she'd had his attention the entire time, but there was a time and a place to argue semantics, and sitting at a bar drinking with a pretty girl definitely wasn't the time nor place. He laughed as she asked could she take her drink to go. "Man, I wish," he said with a slight smirk as he took another slow sip of his drink.
Then she made her offer, and he surveyed their drinks. Roughly even, so he accepted, not that he really chugged that often. Or ever, for that matter. But today was far from normal, so what the hell. "You know what?" he said with a smirk, "You're on." Their glasses clinked, and he put his to his lips and gulped it down as fast as he could. He really wasn't used to this; he was the guy that tended to nurse his drinks, and yet he still tried his damnedest.
However, as he finished the last swig of his drink and set his cup down, he saw that she'd beaten him by at least half a second, and he chuckled, shaking his head lightly. "Well...looks like you won," he said, his smirk dropping a little as his pride took that bit of a hit. This was going to be interesting...

Dante stepped aside so she could come in, and she pushed the door closed. But it was silent and he was still mildly confused as to what the hell was going on here. She'd just randomly shown up, and something was obviously going on, but he had no idea what--
Aaand she was kissing him. Her arms were clearly around his neck as her lips pressed against his, and he let out a surprised gasp, but....he wasn't one to argue with things like this, so his arms wrapped around her waist as he returned the sudden affection. But he couldn't shake the thought that something was amiss here. So after a few moments he broke the kiss.

He looked her over as she stood there. Something did seem....off, yeah. But he couldn't quite put his finger on what. Hell, they'd only had one date, and then he didn't call back, so there was really no way he'd know what was going on. It'd been long enough that this probably wasn't his fault, but...if not...why come to him about it? Or maybe he was just over analyzing.
"Nah, I'm not busy. Come on in," he said, stepping out of the way so she could step inside. "I can make coffee or something if you want it..." he said, not sure of what to say here. "I mean, what's on your mind?"

It had been a slow day at the office, so Dante had left work early, directing all calls to his cell phone in case he actually had an appointment to make or something. He'd gone home, since it was too early to go out drinking--at least by society's standards, anyway, so he did the next best thing. Sitting on the couch, shirtless, playing his acoustic guitar.
The soft music filled the room as Dante's eyes closed. He was in his zone, letting his fingers dance along the strings. But then...there was a knock on the door and he snapped to attention. His eyes flew open, and he walked to the door, setting the guitar up against the wall as he opened the door.
He blinked when he saw it was Zora? Zara? Zelda? Zoe. That was it, Zoe. That girl he never called back...and here she was at his door? He furrowed a brow, hoping she wasn't too mad at him.
"Hey, Zoe. What's up?" he asked casually. Yeah, that was perfect, he hoped.

Dante hadn't been playing with Duke long, maybe fifteen twenty minutes. He gave the ball a good hard toss and let Duke go running after it, thankful for the extra-long retractable leash that gave the big guy more freedom. As the dog got a distance away--almost the maximum length of the leash, Dante heard the familiar voice before he saw her. But it was unmistakable, followed by the unmistakable sound of Duke's happy bark.
She was following Duke to his spot on the bench where he'd been lounging, but as soon as he saw her, he was too his feet, walking briskly to meet her halfway. Once there, he wrapped the arm that wasn't holding Duke's leash around his baby sister in a hug.
"Hey, sis. Long time no see," he said, releasing the hug. "I'm glad you could make it; I missed you."
