The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The fact he couldn't directly answer Liz's question was only mildly frustrating. For all he knew this was completely normal though a more instinctual feeling told him he would survive at the very least. The specifics were as clear as mud however. "Yay food!" Only having to force the enthusiasm a bit. "If you don't like it you should try feeling it. Indescribable really. I also know that word, but can't tell you for sure. Everything feels.. off. Very informative I know."
"I believe my body is going through a cycle of tumoring, realizing its not right, exploding and trying again. Feels about as comfortable as it sounds." Listening intently at her explanation before chuckling darkly. "Oh yes.. the man that can barely stand on his own is such a security risk. Hmmm wouldn't it suck if I was some weird imperfect clone power created by some bad guys to infiltrate the place before I explode? Not that I feel particularly combustible at the moment." Would an evil creation out itself as being evil? He didn't think so.
His face visibly fell then he sighed. "Or some serial killer.. or mass murderer. Could I be tried if I don't remember doing those things? Be a curious legal study either way.." Eyeballing the flies out of the corner of his eye then shaking his head and with some effort and help from Liz managing himself into a chair. "Ahhh that feels good. What's on the menu Chef Elizabeth?"

It hadn't been all that long since he had show up at the mansion, but he settled in quickly. It was actually a bit weird to have so many mutants around him. Not that it should since his memories were about as straightforward as an egg in a blender. Lacking anything better or pressing then 'recovery' he was driving about on his modified scooter to hold his asymmetrical bulk when he heard what could marginally be described as singing. Art was subjective afterall. A very vibrant and chaotic Hawaiian shirt that almost hurt the eyes to look at draped over his frame. A pair of huge novelty sized sunglasses perched on his nose and only matching half of his face. When you had to pilfer the lost and found and live off donation you took what you could get.
He zoomed next to Carrick on his silent and obviously quite modified shopping scooter, refraining from the temptation to drive into the the other man's vulnerable kneecaps. "Is there some particular reason your interrupting their academic pursuits or are you just one of those people who gets off on being an annoying?" Delivered in utmost curiosity and reserving judgement for later. For all he knew Carricks powers were powered through people hating him. He had heard stranger things from the fellows at the school.

"Hinestly be more worried about the introduction of a non native species to a biosphere. Proving once again humans are the most dangerous animal of them all." Grinning right back at her. He had sort of gotten used to the feeling of fire across his body and was doing his best to ignore it.
"Ugh, I literally just pushed a bullet out of my chest. Explain how a doctor is going to help when I can do that hmm?" OK maybe he was a teensy bit hurt she implied he was crazy. "Fine, so after your doctor gives me a looking over and sends us on our way yiur no longer going to be able to dodge your responsibilities of being a good hostess and feeding your weary gun shit visitors."
How long was this private road anyway. Ah finally a gate to the school. "Looks like a third world country border checkpoint. This place filled with a bunch of rich kids? Because dealing with that sounds worse then death?" Man why did his pre discombulated self think this was a good idea?

"At the current time I am looking forward to having a sit in in an ungodly overstuffed chair. The identity crisis can wait.. honestly the last thing I remember right this moment is just minding my own business walking down the street." Shrugging slightly as there wasn't much else he could say. "Oh wait a minute." Looking down at the ground and holding a hand to his chest a moment later a chunk of lead vaguely resembling a bullet burrowed out of his chest in his heart region and plopped into his hand covered in blood. The hole in his chest slipping closed shortly after leaving. "A clue!" Chuckling darkly at the turn of events before slipping the lead into his pocket.
"Hey I am a doctor I can take care of myself." he grumbled out in a grumpy manner before brightening a bit. "Hey I was a doctor.. or something.. I think. Damn my head hurts. What makes you think I have a concussion?" Arching an eyebrow as he peeked over at her momentarily.
He cyclopsed a look at the butterflies and chuckled some. "Dark humor, I like it. Though I just cant find it in me to be scared of butterflies. Being some sort of undead minion would be recycling wouldn't it?" Sure his good mood may have been inappropriate to his level of pain, but life was what you made of it. Suddenly he froze and gripped onto her for the typical wind up to a righteous sneeze. Covering his mouth and turning away from her in some modest attempt to not be an even worse memory for the poor lady. Shuddering a bit as he finished and glancing at the results and hiding it. "Uh.. Miss Elizabeth.. I don't mean to be gross, but I doubt a doctor is going to help. Last I checked being able to sneeze your brains out was supposed to be a joke correct?" Tasking a moment to show her his hand covered in bits of what was unmistakably blood covered brains.
"I feel.. a bit better actually." Wiping the mess of on an already grimy part of his tattered jeans and resuming their walk towards the mansion. "Still hungry though maybe even more so."

It was a bit akward to get helped up as he was much denser and heavier then he looked. After a bit of hopping and shuffling to get his mismatched and semi fused legs under him it was much easier when he was settled on his own weight. Perhaps a happy side bonus for her was while he certainly did have a fair share of blood on him closer inspection revealed his skin that wasn't eastern European was actually crimson red not unlike a devils might be.
"Its good to be upright again. Pretty sure I was laying on like the only damn rock on the road." Levity was always good in uncomfortable situations right? "Nice to meet you Elizabeth. I'm.-hssst. Ow ow ow." Putting his free hand to his temple. "Ugh nope. John Doe I guess today." Almost stumbling as he lost his Penguin walk stride. It wasn't fast progress, but they were going to make it to the school eventually.
"I do wonder why I was heading towards a school for help and why I suddenly feel.. uncomfortable about going there. As for what to do. A scalpel and some steak would be a great start.. hmm no. Something with more calories. Eh why not both? Or if that's too offensive a lovely vegetable smoothie would be awesome. Eh who am i kidding I would eat straight lard if that is all you have." A disconcerting level of grumbling escaping his abdominal region. He kept one eye closed as it was the only thing keeping him from being dizzy and ralphing whatever he did have in his stomach all over the place. Glancing over at his helper a moment before focusing on the path ahead of them.
"Sorry about the dress I will be happy to pay for a replacement once.. whatever this is is over. Despite my bit of melodrama I feel like this is very unusual, but not life threatening. Of course I wouldn't trust the word of an amnesiac so there is that too." A small chuckle leaving his lips before a gurgle caught his throat and he swallowed whatever he was about to hack up without even really thinking about it. "Fair warning if we reach the top of this place and its a cemetery I am going to roll away as fast as I can. Way too weird late night TV-esque for me thanks."

Staring up at the kaleidoscope of colors wasn't about to do his own system any good so he focused very intently on his potential savior. It was pretty hard to miss how pale she suddenly got and he allowed himself a small smirk. "Imagine how it feels, take your time.. well sort of, would rather not die in the road at the very least if that is what is happening." Nodding ever so slightly at the apology and waved a hand drunkenly. "Your quite alright miss. Not exactly a predictable circumstance."
Depending on your definition man might be a bit of a stretch. He was certainly masculine, but the parts of him that weren't red or messed up didn't make him look a day over 18. "I hope so. If I am not a mutant I am sure death is all that's left. I get the feeling ill be fine. Though my while body feels like it's on fire and I can feel.. well you don't want to know the argument my livers are having with my kidneys let alone everything else.
"It was more an expectation of a skeleton with a scythe then a pick up line.. Why would I be heading for a school for help? Not remembering much at the moment." He gave her question a moments thought. "Some sharp stuff and some food would be lovely. At this point I think I need help up and someone to keep me from falling." Thenbof course he had to go and try and snack in a butterfly and stopped himself at the last moment before letting it go unharmed to rejoin the flock.
"Must be a vegetarian if your some sort of empath or bug controller, sorry. Very hungry." He rocked a bit and with way more effort then it should have taken he managed to sit up. "Whoah." Wincing painfully and closing his eyes as he suddenly got dizzy and blood ran from his nose for a moment. He opened a blood red eye to look and look at her. "I really could use your help. Promise not to bite." Extending a shaky hand towards her and tilting his head some as he wondered what she would ultimately decide.

Butterflies? Now wouldn't that just be the epitome of irony if the 'old gods' were real and he was about to be taken away but butterflies to some fae circle. That would be a pretty awesome way to go. Wait nope, still in intense pain and not dead. There goes another hopeful theory. Oh wait a voice!
He turned his dual colored face towards the voice and would have perked an eyebrow if he had control over it that particular moment. "Just fantastic, decided to lay down in the road for a bit to really get inside how roadkill feels." Snapping a bit and his face instantly conveyed regret. "Sorry, its been a day. No I am most certainly not okay. Was on my way up the hill for some reason I cannot currently recall when my femur and tibia decided to fuse.. er knee. Would that make it a fibia.. temur? Anyway.. it was hard enough walking with the giant size 20 on the right. I recall dragging myself into the road and hoping for help or death. Which in particular is it?" Turning his face to look at the woman as a worm like ripple etched itself across his face. "Quite alluring for an angel of death I have to say."
Shock, adrenaline? Sure why not both. He was about 200% certain his biochemistry was absolutely wrecked right this second. He attempted to snatch at a butterfly that drifted too close like a clumsy drunk, not realising he hand't caught it until he brought his hand to his mouth and frowned. "Damn I'm hungry."

"Well at least the sky is pretty." He was taking the wins where he could get them. Laying on his back staring up at the sky as the red hues moved to dominate the usually soft toned blues. Normally sky watching wouldn't pose that much of an inconvenience. It was New York and people could ignore someone laying on the sidewalk. Put yourself in the middle of the road and you became an inconvenient obstacle for someone to forcibly remove and interact with. Given his vicinity near the mansion he did hold out hope for some form of altruism to help complete his journey to people that could hopefully help him or at the very least keep him tended to while he got over whatever the hells was happening.
His clothes were in a tattered state, jeans split in half at each leg, shirt seams ripped, and all around fairly grungy as if he had attempted to pull himself along at some point and gave up. Not to mention the angry looking red that assumed itself over half of his visible flesh and most of his face leaving one eye its normal white and brown and red on black. The worst of the visible maladies was the fact one leg from the knee down was much larger and out of proportion to the rest of him. If one bothered to approach the freakshow doing his best impression of roadkill they would notice his skin visible moving and writhing about in no discernable pattern. He inhaled to take in a deep breath and steel himself to make some sort of progress when he choked halfway through coughing and sputtering as he turned his head to expel what suspiciously looked like a blood clot a ways from him and with and almost resigned slowness tried to wipe the rest off his face with his hand. "Right." How long did it take a normal person to die of thirst? Not soon enough.

It had seemed like forever since he had been in the same vicinity as Andrea.. of course it always felt like that even if a day had passed. THis time however it was true. It had been one of those weeks where a bunch of people had tests or big assignments due and she had been off hiding in the mansion from one incident or another. This time it had actually been a decent stint of time since they had gotten together and he found himself longing for her peaceable presence now that he didn't have school to distract him. Too much time had given him the opportunity to think about the future for the first time in forever. College had been almost a promptu endeavor, a silly misunderstanding on his part and shortly he would have a Bachelor's degree.
For the first time he had a sort of.. anxiety. Was he making the right choices? It was true he wanted to help people and he had an aptitude for biology. Was it the right course for him. Were he and Andrea going the right direction? Shoving his feelings down he put on a not entirely faked smile as he pulled up to the exterior of the mansion and sent her a text to inform her he had arrived. A little stirring of excitement in his chest as he climbed out of the van and stretched. All the crazy ideas swimming around incessantly in his head forcing him to pinch his nose and close his eyes. Despite the chilly day he was happy in his typical t shirt and pants for the short amount of time he would be standing outside.
Then he saw her and his mind went blank. Unsure when he started moving towards her he picked her up off her feet in a grand hug and gave her a kiss that more than made up for a week apart with absolutely no shame at who might be watching them through the camera at the front gate. Only pulling away once he felt like she might need some breath did he blush a bit. "My Mechta, I missed you." Moving to pull her into his side as he walked her to the passenger side. "I don't really have any plans except a bit of a drive if that is ok? I grabbed some food for the trip. Unless there is somewhere you want to go?" It was hard not to be a bit awkward about going out and about. His own preferences usually lying in picking up something and heading back to her place to enjoy the mutual good company. Helping her into her seat before scurrying back around the van to hop into the driver side and head out.

Erik managed to keep from rolling his eyes.. barely. Plucking the money from her grasp rather disdainfully and unceremoniously shoving it into a pocket. Then shot her a look that spoke volumes to how amusing he found it which was precisely 0 out of 10. "I will." Not that he didn't regularly donate money to the place.
Ah his psychology book could explain that one. Though he found it weird there was a complex about helping people. As if civilization itself wasn't built on mutual cooperation or something. "Your welcome, though gender really didn't play much of a part in my decision. People should help each other out is all." Shrugging and looking a bit uncomfortable as the subject keep getting brought up. So he trudged on to hopefully bury it six feet under.
"Erik. Nice to meet you Quin. New to smartphones? Only had one a few years myself." Thankfully few could mean two otherwise he would have had to found some other roundabout way of trying not to raise the hackles of his impromptu companion. Picking up one of the many danishes he had stacked on a plate and eating it in a methodical pleased manner.

Whew! Herman suddenly disappearing was a streak of luck he hadn't predicted and slowed down a bit. Going at an all out sprint even in a park was bound to attract unwanted attention. Of course the relief was short lived as the oversized hamster ball popped back into existence in front of him with a streak of light. "Sh-" He skidded to a stop and threw himself to the ground, protecting his head with his arms as Herman crunched over him with contemptuous ease.
Scowling he stood up looking worse for wear as Herman took a long rolling ark to come back around.. seemingly unphased at his disappearance. The wail of sirens seemed to jolt the big man to a stop. It appeared the food fight free for all had dropped the food part. Now it was just an all encompassing brawl of people, food trucks were starting to get turned over. Herman's was on fire and chaos was breaking loose. It was time to be somewhere else! Herman went off one direction and Erik was content to just job casually the hell out of dodge. Shooting a glance at.. well whoever the heck it was that had been chasing him.
Ah well New York wasn't that big of a place. He was sure they would run into one another again.

New Yorkers.. you try to do something nice and they get all... offended? Worse they hunt you down and try to pay you back. Granted he hadn't gone very far, but he wasn't about to abandon his pastries and tea to avoid an aggravated no longer damsel in distress. The biology book he had just begun to start rereading on anded up abandoned once again. Erik was pretty sure he head it cry a bit probably just a projection of his own state of mind.
Yes she was miffed to use some American slang. For no good reason in his expert opinion. Without making a go for the money he gesture for her to take a seat. With any luck she would be interesting to talk to and not some sort of 'Karen' archetype he was vaguely begging to understand from his own girlfriends by play of her work gossip.
"Would much prefer you paid it forward to a place like Sanctuary instead of trying to reward me for a purely altruistic endeavor. Sticking around for a thanks would have been a bit.. self aggrandizing wouldn't it?" Or something like that. Hopefully the point would come across clearly. His own face rather placid having considered and decided against a smile as that might come off as condescending at the current moment. That and getting thanked for being what was simply being a decent person made his skin crawl a bit. Ugh, he really enjoyed how he could be himself at home, but it left him out of practice for faking his way through situations like this.

Erik quirked an eyebrow from his spot on the floor. "Destiny is a rather heavy word for it don't you think? There are simply the choices we make in life or the choices we have had made for us." Destiny implied fate and fate could just go right to hell in his opinion.
"My uncle taught me 'formally' I guess. Military martial arts and I earned my bruises and broken bones. He figured as a mutant I should be able to take care of myself without using any powers." Which to this day was sound wisdom in his opinion. Far too many off their kind relied solely on their powers where the proper application of more mundane skills would be better and more subtle.
"That is good news I suppose. Again, mostly just applied out of boredom truth be told. I also like to keep people from having the same crappy childhood of survival I did for numerous reasons." Rolling backwards he stood back to his feet. "I would have to figure out appropriate moves for kids that still lay the groundwork. My style tends to focus on breaking the other person before they break you kind of thing." He had to agree about the interviews being interrogations. Just speedy ones with less physical or mental anguish.. for most people.
"In all fairness however just about anything can be redirected from nonlethal to lethal intent. It is all a matter of mindset of the user." Reflecting somewhat that if he was in any way reformed he should just walk away and call the xmen or something. Not the cops.. no definitely not the cops. "So what else you want to know Ms. Syndicate? Actually you have an office perhaps? And maybe some pants? I feel like a bit of a creeper with you in that and me in street clothes."

Somewhere one of the unfortunate souls to cross his pass and find him in a belligerent mood probably would have found the engine of crippling pain and furious beatings completely at odds with the peaceable and content person he was currently. True the décor felt just a bit too much like stepping into a rpg wizards library replete with a stuffed owl on a perch and faux bookshelf wallpaper. Not that he really knew what an rpg was. The place however had quite the exotic tea collection he was content to work his way through on a fairly regular basis. While some were a bit more exotic (disgusting) then others the pastries were on a level of their own and more then made up for the stranger choices like dandelion stems or something similarly exotic (awful).
To better blend in with the clientele he wore some simple black framed glasses with no prescription and left it at that. He noted with some satisfaction that he was amongst the most fit of the patrons despite his several uneaten pastries on his plate he had every intention of eating. Settling in with a bit of light reading with his advanced biology textbook until something put his general sense of order out of joint and he looked around.
His first instinct was that perhaps he subconsciously noticed danger or a crime. Instead he realized it was far simpler then that. An individual was holding up the line and looking genuinely flustered. A cute redhead if he was being entirely honest with himself. In typical fashion of New Yorkers (and humanity in general) everyone else in the line seemed far more intent on being irritated then doing anything worthwhile to help. With a light sigh at the foibles of mankind he got up and meandered his way casually over to the line. Shooting his best 'I will kill you all' death-glare at the line to settle them down before materializing at Quin's side.
"Miss? Please allow me.", he attempted in his gentlest and most understanding tone. It wasn't as if he had spent much time with smartphones himself and there was certainly a learning curve. It was something he experienced far too much at Sanctuary and the people there that had never even had a mobile phone. With a few thumb presses he got his phone to the right screen and paid for her order before she could object and gave her another smile. "I hope you enjoy." Just like that he was heading back to his seat to get back to eating and pasties, no strings attached.

Light flashed by him in his periphery and he tried not to divert too much attention to it, but noting it was there. Afterall getting distracted in a fight was as much of a no no as allowing yourself to lose general awareness of your surroundings. Not that it was a fight until Herman came rolling in like a bad cartoon character intent on rubbing unseemly parts of his body against Erik. That was not going to happen.
Well running was his objective at the moment even if it wasn't particularly manly or whatever macho term people used to justify doing things to prove their manliness and overall stupidity. Dodging around the spinning mass of flesh and beginning to run. That was until a red orb appeared and deposited an annoying obstacle in his way. Herman was coming back a thim and no matter what he did it was going to slow him down. Jumping to stand on the edge of the table and leaping off of it as Herman smashed it to bits and zoomed off.
Glancing around for the perpetrator for obstacles only to see mr. 'yell at you to stop but can't do crap about it'. He gave a what the heck gesture towards the guy and rolled backwards to avoid the zooming Herman once again before resuming his sprint away.
"I have to be dreaming. This is just too wierd." He muttered aloud to himself. Central Park New York was truly a magical place.
