The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Luke nodded as the young woman spoke, but was quickly growing suspicious. Now that he was closer, she faintly smelled of blood, and her comment sounded like this was her car. But if this car had been smashed with a person's body, and it was her car...well, correlation isn't causation, but that was a weird connection, right?
"Sorry, I'm just passing through." He stepped a bit back from her, gaze drifting to the seemingly-unaware pedestrians; he wasn't really interrogating her or anything, but if she was threatened by asking questions, at least he wouldn't be physically menacing her.
"So just to be clear, this is your car, then?" Luke glanced down at the dent once more, now even more confident it was a person-shaped impact. "What exactly-"
Mid-sentence, Luke heard a voice hiss a bit of foul language, and instinctively turned to look. He froze as his eyes fell on the hooded young man across the street; for a brief, dizzying second, he felt that he was looking at himself, as he'd been before his mutation.
The hell...? Still in shock, Luke barely registered the doppelganger's own look of shock, only becoming aware as an eager, toothy grin split the boy's lips and he moved. The newcomer's hood fell back, revealing pointy ears and pointy projections from his hair, and his baggy-sleeved right arm whipped upward, knuckles outward.
Instinctively, Luke raised his forearms in front of his face, lunging forward between the young man and the woman. A stinging pain suddenly erupted across his arms and lower torso, followed by the intense smell of ozone, followed by a much more pronounced pain as his muscles tensed involuntarily, making him double over momentarily.
Gasping for a moment, Luke raised his head and watched the guy look from him to the girl, back to him, and then start running away in the direction Luke had come from. Once the initial pain had subsided, Luke looked down at himself, finding that about a dozen little brown needles, like porcupine quills, were embedded in him. Stepping back from the girl and the car, Luke looked at her wordlessly, then started pulling some of the needles out, wincing each time as an electric jolt seemed to run through him when he grabbed one.

I'm interested!
Luke Benson: Being strong and resilient, there's a few things he could do, most likely including clearing of obstacles or just carrying victims to safety if need be. Would also be able to use his senses to better locate people, particularly hearing.

It was good that Glitch had things organized. As much as this was a bout of troublemaking, it would be bad if they got off-track and smashed a window with a TP roll or something.
Leading the way towards the front gate, Luke kept up his sentry watch, now also listening for surveillance stuff. If they beeper or whirred, he could pick that up, though it wasn't always easy. Sticking to the front, he led the party along a path that, as far as he could tell, was all clear.
Now at the expansive front lawn, Luke put his hands on his hips and gave one more look around. "There's a couple somethings near the gate itself, probably watching the entrance there. Like..." He focused for a moment, then turned back to Glitch. "I hear a camera, whirring, I think it's turning?"
He looked back across the lawn, tilting his head to seek out any more sounds. Unfortunately, there were apparently crickets here, and the faint chirping was drowning out the minute sounds of electronics. "I dunno what else. Sorry." He shrugged, a sheepish expression on his face.

The poor guy looked a little unsteady, honestly. Getting around right after his mutation came up had been a little weird for Luke, but it was also like, built into his brain or something, so it had been okay after a little bit. Plus he'd not been as short as Chase was--well, normally was--before his mutation.
Once he was confident that Chase wasn't going to faceplant, Luke quickly parsed the younger boy's words. He was a bit distracted by his clone's very enthusiastic tail-wagging. He kinda figured that's probably why Chase was curious about him having one. Dang, had he planned this all along? Tricky.
"Oh, so you're like, made of rubber bands? Awesome." Luke grinned. That actually sounded cool. Chase had a twin, didn't he? He couldn't remember much about him though, having never really chatted with either boy.
"Wait, hold up." Luke paused, suddenly startled as he comprehended one of Chase's words. "You copy memories, you said? Like, what do you mean?" That put him on edge, as the slight puffing out of his fur and posturing of his ears showed. Physical stuff, sure, shapeshifting, being a wolfman? Whatever.
Stealing stuff from his mind? That was messed up. He put his hands on his temples. "Did you read my mind?"

Okay, good, Glitch really came prepared. He caught the roll one handed and tossed it upwards, watching it drop and bounce while leaving a white ribbon suspended in a branch.
He looked back at her and grinned. Of course, he needed to stay at least a little alert. It wasn't like, his responsibility, but if Luke could help it they'd know if they were blown.
"Nope, nothing...wait." Luke paused, ears pricked at attention at the sound of a distant thud. He instinctively assumed an alert stance, head forward and shoulders back, trying to notice any additional sounds. It sounded like a door slamming, if anything. No footsteps, or any further noises, and he relaxed.
"Nevermind, think we're good. Probably just a bathroom door." Luke scratched the back of his head behind his ears sheepishly. He didn't want to seem too on-edge, but it was better to be prepared.
Most of the section of garden was now a tangled forest of two-ply. Luke looked to Glitch. "This looks good. Where next?"

...Okay, yep. That was extremely weird.
"Uh, six and a half feet, last I checked." It wasn't exactly a mirror image, at least not to him; they looked the same, but Chase still smelled like Chase, just...also himself. It was kind of jarring to be made aware of his own scent, given he normally didn't like, notice.
At least, Chase's excitement was reassuring...sort of. Actually it kind of made him self-conscious, and he crossed his arms in unconscious insecurity. "So uh, what else do you copy?"
Luke tentatively gave Chase an investigative look. "Like, from me." It occurred to him that Chase's transformation had been accompanied by a weird, stretching noise. "I assume it doesn't hurt, does it?"
If Chase was going to be studying him or whatever, he could ask about stuff back. Only fair, right?

To be totally honest, Luke was a little apprehensive at first.
He wasn't against senior prank or anything, especially when it had the potential to be a lot more problematic, like, with the superpowers and such. The classic TP scenario? That was no problem.
Really, Luke was worried he'd mess it up by coming along. Like, dark clothes could only do so much when he had white fur, right? And he wasn't so great at stealth, either, so he didn't want to get them caught. He didn't wanna be that guy, or anything.
So far, things were going okay. He had his concerns, yeah, but he also had an advantage--being the lookout. With his super-senses, Luke had a good shot at picking up signs of people coming out before they got there. The mansion garden was now covered in long strips of white padded hygiene paper.
"Hey Glitch." Luke whispered loudly towards the ringleader, "Watch this." Rearing back, Luke sent one roll flying, all the way across the garden, almost to the woods. He grinned at her proudly, then paused, and said, " Wait, do you have any more rolls?"
He held up both hands, empty, and shrugged sheepishly.

Aw, that was kind of cute actually. Luke remembered the adventuring of his youth. Well, relative youth. Regardless, at least there wasn't something to be worried about now.
...Well, maybe. Chase offered a demonstration of his method, which involved...a personal item? That was kind of worrisome, but he assumed Chase wasn't going to like, run off with his phone or anything. Not for long, at least.
"Uh, sure." Luke started digging into his shorts pocket, pulling out his phone and held it up to the kid in the tree. As soon as the phone exchanged hands, it occurred to him that this might get weird, but it was a little wait. He put his hands on his hips and watched with apprehension.

Man, what a punk. 'Your mom' jokes? And Luke was worried about hurting his feelings.
Luke stopped and crossed his arms, glaring up into the tree. He was perfectly fine on the ground, thank you. Chase looked pretty stable up there, but Luke would feel a lot better if there was someone to catch him if he fell.
"I'm seventeen." Was that 'older'? That felt weird. He still kind of felt like a younger kid, even though he was living here and went out on his own and all. Age's relative, or something. "I dunno man, I'm just wondering what you're up to out here."
Luke shifted on his feet. "And then you went running off into the woods. I thought you might get lost or something, y'know?" He rolled his eyes.
Now, he might as well ask about what kind of trick the kid had pulled. "You and, uh, Toby, is it? Are you like, do you disguise yourselves? Like the other day. How'd you look like the girls?"

Ow. Ow. Ow. Sensory overload. Ow.
The good news was that Luke's vision was recovering fairly quickly. Everything was washed out and his eyes were watering but he could see, sort of. Of course, he couldn't really sit up or, you know, hear, so that wasn't helping. He felt like he was laying face-first on a boat, and despite being from Maine Luke hated boats.
So for the first ten or so seconds Luke was content to lay his face on the wet grass and try not to feel too queasy. Eventually, he was able to sit up onto all fours, left hand pressed over his face as if to steady himself.
"Gh...ugh..." Clenching his jaw, Luke downgraded from hands and feet to kneeling. His vision was getting better at least. As far as he could tell, Glitch and Janelle had vanished, as had Skye. That was her name right? They'd met before at the Con, and she'd just started staying here. Ugghh, not a great reunion.
There was one other person in the immediate vicinity, Luke recognized him pretty easily. Casper smelled like ink, after all, which wasn't a surprise from what Luke knew of his powers. Which were super cool. But magic tattoos apparently didn't do much for stun grenade powers. Yeesh.
"Ow." Luke sat back on his hindquarters and folded his arms over his knees, letting his face rest on top. His hearing was coming back a little, which was comforting. Having super senses was great until you didn't. Or until sensory attacks fry your brain extra-hard.
"So...you okay there?" He looked over at Casper, who was hopefully having a better time than he was.

Ugh, his nose was running now. Someone nearby was smoking, and that was just the worst for Luke. He swallowed and cleared his throat, then started moving on again.
It took another few minutes of walking in the vague direction of north, but since he wasn't even sure that he was on the right track there, it was a little hard for Luke to be optimistic. The surroundings were a little more bustling and crowded, though. If anything, that seemed like a bad sign. Craziness in a well-traveled area would draw a lot of attention, right?
Also, it was getting a good bit warmer. Taking off his cap and fanning his face with it--this did not help much--Luke stopped and noticed that there was a pretty smashed-up car off a nearby intersection. Looked like something had crashed into the side of it. Luke stopped across the street from it, appraising it as best he could.
Well, that was about how cars looked in the DR when he got thrown into them, so it didn't seem too out there for it to be a person-sourced dent. Also, a girl in sunglasses around his age was standing near it with a coffee. He wasn't sure what to make of that, but she didn't look like someone from the school. She was probably not like, a secret agent or the FBI or something. It might just be her car that got smashed.
As he crossed the street, Luke stopped next to the car and looked down at the mystery girl. "Got in a little fender bender?" He asked in a lighthearted tone. He wasn't trying to come off intimidating or anything, so hopefully she didn't get uncomfortable having him just go up to her. Sometimes he still forgot that he tended to put people off doing that.

Oh, he didn't seem so thrilled about him bringing it up. Was it a--wait what?
"Hey, wait!" Luke said in surprise as Chase ran off into the woods. He could here him walking off, and having placed a face to the scent he could track that too. He could follow him if he went too far or something.
That said, it wasn't like the problem was Chase getting lost, if he'd been here before. Luke maybe hadn't handled it right, as he scratched the back of his head (behind his ears) sheepishly with an awkward expression. Like, getting flashbanged had sucked, but he really didn't hold a grudge--he didn't have anything against the kid or anything.
"Hey!" Chase was now totally out of sight. Luke could hear him moving around, though. He could at least apologize to the kid, right? Straighten this out. He started moving through the foliage and trying to step over watery ground, and called more loudly, "Hey, I'm not mad! Honest!"

Oh, okay, he was just hangin' out. Wasn't like Luke could judge him on that. Poor kid, probably felt left out, if he was anything like Luke's brother back home. His expression got gloomy for a moment. He hadn't been in touch with Ethan for a while, and it was was a little depressing that Luke wasn't around to support his little brother.
Well, okay.
Admittedly that was a question he had heard before, though rarely from people actually asking him. He stepped up towards the kid, and out of the foliage and shade it was easy to see it slowly wave behind him. He crossed his arms and said, "Yeah." Truth be told, it was a little self-conscious for him. Like, of all the things that his mutation did, having an extra appendage was probably the least familiar thing. Like, normal human brain can't even comprehend the sensation or muscle movement. Took a long time to get used to, frankly.
Anyway, that aside, Luke found himself looking down at the kid. "What's your name?" He really did feel like he recognized him somehow, or at least his smell in particular, but it was hard to place. Trying to picture where he'd been was like, foggy?
Oh. Ohhh. Luke's tail stopped and he furrowed his brow. "Wait, aren't you the water balloon kid?" Man, that was a rough day for him. His ears had been ringing all day from poor Skye's explosion flash-thing. Technically that wasn't his fault, but it was hard not to hold it against him at all, honestly.
Luke put a his palm over his face and shook his head slowly. "You're lucky I don't hold grudges." He smirked a little as he returned to a normal posture.

If it helped, Luke was surprised to hear someone else too. Well, okay, that was a lie, but he hadn't expected the kid would notice him hanging around. Stealthy he was not, but he'd thought he was pretty quiet. Hard to tell, though, when nothing was 'quiet' for you.
It was a boring afternoon without much going on and Luke was feeling a buildup of restless energy. It was getting hot, and his fur coat was shedding, which meant lots of hair everywhere. It was gross, embarrassing, and unsightly, not to mention made his fur a less resilient defense. The first (and only prior to now) time this happened he'd been caught off-guard, not knowing it was a thing, and he'd been horribly on-edge for a month until it stopped.
With summer approaching once more, he'd actually talked to some of the professors about it, and with their advice intended to spent a lot more time outside where he didn't make a mess. Also, another fun anatomical quirk; wolves don't sweat. They pant. That's how they cool down, by radiating heat from the greater surface area of their mouths. Luke apparently didn't sweat either. Good news, he didn't need antiperspirant (applying it would suck too), but it also had some unfortunate social effects. It did help cool down, but he did it unconsciously and reflexively, so sometimes he didn't even notice. Other people did, though. It was kind of awkward.
All that basically added up to less time on-campus, more in the surrounding wooded area. He was planning to suggest some kind of semi-permanent lodging there for him (and others who might like the sort of thing too), but that wasn't a sure thing yet. Still, it was nice to be out in the greenery. He could bring some reading if he wanted, but mostly he just did some running and exploring. Sometimes on all fours; it was a little clunky and made him self-conscious, but he could go fast. That was cool and actually kind of fun, sprinting all-out like that.
Right now it was drizzling lightly, which wasn't bad because it kept the air cooler which he liked. There was also the benefit of changing his environment's smells. Luke wouldn't say people smelled bad, but they definitely had a strong scent, and since most everyone smelled different, it got a little draining. Like a concert; it might be fun, but it was also fatigue-inducing for the constant sensory input. He usually habituated to it, but being away from people was a nice change for his nose.
Of course, that meant Luke definitely noticed the distinct smell of a human where it was definitely commonplace. It was upwind, which was one of those things that sounded weird when you read about it but was totally true somehow, and he couldn't quite place them but it was someone...vaguely familiar? Crouched down and creeping, Luke had traced his way towards the person. It was a guy, younger than him, but beyond that, nothing. Scent on someone was like, you can know what someone sounds like on the phone without seeing their face.
He was pretty close when he heard the kid call out. He flinched, slightly. Being covert wasn't his thing, definitely. Luke stood straight and cleared his throat before calling out, "Hey, sorry. Didn't think anyone else was out here." He peered around at the kid, who looked about the age of a tween, twelve or so? He definitely smelled familiar, but Luke couldn't remember ever seeing him before. Hmm.
"Hi there." Luke crossed his arms and glanced around. Well he figured out who was hanging out in the woods, but now begged another question. "I'm Luke. Uh...whatcha doing out here?"

Something had gone down the other night. Emphasis his, because Luke wasn't actually sure what.
He'd been out jogging and heard a whole mess of bad sounds in the distance. Loud, crazy driving and, possibly, gunshots? He'd moved in the direction, but the distance had been more than expected, and he had no idea what had actually happened, or where.
But the next day he was out again, a slightly brisk but sunny afternoon. Luke was breaking his personal motto and wearing a hooded jacket and a baseball cap; normally, he skipped the crap. He was kiiinda wandering off into possible danger on his own, though. He wasn't going to be inconspicuous anyway, but it was worth a try right?
This was a crummy district of the city, with the kind of people who watched you like predators across the street. It wasn't exactly his favorite place; he wasn't worried personally, really, but the bad side of town made him feel guilty. He wanted to help people, like, that's why he was here and not back in Maine. This wasn't the place or the time, though.
One mixed blessing was that other visibly-mutants...mutants had a bigger representation, so he didn't stick out so much. Yay? Luke stopped on a corner and crossed his arms, surveying the surroundings. He closed his eyes and retraced his memory, shifting in place. He'd been near here last night when the squealing brakes and crashing and all had happened. What direction...? North?
Opening his eyes again, Luke looked north. Ugh, crap. Maybe? That wasn't exactly his most confident response. He grimaced and tried to refocus, but the street stank of strong smoke and broken-up buildings. Like, musty and old. It threw him off and made him irritable, like any unpleasant smell would, especially when he was trying to do something.
It also, as it turned out, distracted him from the rest of his surroundings.
