The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The window opened and she stepped back after a noticeable eye roll. The shifter smirked in response, ”Which one’s got the better appeal?” he asked folding up his wings and pulling him into her room with a chuckle. ”You should really keep yer windows shut never know who try to climb in.”
He brushed off his pants and leaned against the window. She didn’t really invite him in but the shifter figured it be better than him hovering on the girls side of the mansion near a window. That’s just asking for detention or worse.
”They let me go after I smoothed thing’s over and you didn’t want me to talk at all.” he folded his arms and grinned at her. He looked around and spotted the shiny jewels on her bed. The realized it was her bed and how late it was. His eyes averted immediately and his ears got hot.
”Whatcha doing up so late anyways? Worried ‘bout me?” he flashed his teeth in a grin while his tail flicked behind him as if he was toying with her.
His heart was racing when he made it back to the mansion. Did he, just accept a job from S.U.P.E.R? What the hell did that even mean? He was half listing when they asked him distracted once again with the image of the Princess illuminated in the lights from the date before. What a day.
All he knew was he had to work for someone instead of being locked up which for the time being was okay with him. At least he could finish school. The shifter started to laugh as he flew back to the school, knowing that was the last thing he was really worried about. No, his first task was to make sure the Princess got back safely. It was late he knew that. He also knew she’d give him a hard time for getting picked up again and for bugging her so late. Eh, she’d get over it.
He swooped in low to the mansion grounds as he cleared the property line his tail guiding him till he got to the point he started to slow, her light was on. Good, at least he wasn’t going to wake her.
Still in his partial monkey suit from before he shifted uncomfortably as he knocked on the window softly but in the pattern of a song he was thing of making it apparent she wasn’t hearing things.
>>>"Try to stay out of trouble. Just... don't talk more than you need to." "Or... at all."
Carrick smirked and jerked his body in a small skip before walking where he was pushed along, he didn’t hear a no. It was entertaining at least. His tail swayed behind him as he had a little more swagger in his step.
”it was entertaining.” he said looking back to the agent who was behind him moving him along. Carrick almost detected a smile.
>>>"I'll let the Mansion know."
”Thanks love! Get home safely.” he called back before yelling, ”All part of the show everyone!” Carrick met the vehicle with a smile on his face. He was picturing the Princess’s face being lit up from light show.
Carrick’s wing didn’t move from the princess he wasn’t going to leave her. ‘Fight’ the voice called out in the back of his mind again this time a little more alert and angry. The growling stopped when her hand met his chest. It was calming. The shifter took a breath and his pupils started to round.
>>>"What is happening?" "He didn't do anything wrong!"
She was worried. He ruined the date. might of …” he muttered looking at the situation again this time a little less on edge. The agents didn’t shoot yet. Slowly he raised his hands up. A card in his sleeve rolled down his arm inside his shirt. There goes that trick add that to the list of stuff they ruined.
”**** yer timing!” he yelled. His hands went back behind his head, he’d seen it a dozen times when he was a kid in life and television. He was surrendering. He didn’t want the princess to get in danger again. ”Ya show up now? Couldn’t let me have like another minute **** you guys!?!” this was about him not calling them about the circus weekend he took with Zek.
The irate Irishman’s wing slowly removed it’s self from the Princess’s back as he heard foot steps behind him. His tail was the only thing that fought back swatting at the officer when his wrists were grabbed and cuffed. ”Sorry, love.” he apologized as he slowly got up. Looking back at her he offered a wink and a smile. ”It’ll be fine. It was entertaining though right?” he struggled for a second when they tried pushing him to start walking. He was waiting for an answer.
He realized she was looking at him and he was staring. His face started to get red the more he stared he needed to look away but couldn’t. Still purring ”Ehhh just admiring the show.” he smirked hoping the lights that were on her face were reflecting on his face enough so she couldn’t see how red it was.
His wing pulled in a bit and by extension the Princess, his tail flicked beside him excitedly like he was hunting as his heart raced. ”Great show.” he said as he started to lean in to the princess. His eyes started to shut as he leaned in further readying to kiss her.
‘Fight!’ a voice that had been quite for a few days suddenly shouted in the back of his head while the hairs on the back of his neck started to rise. He was in danger. Of what though? His eyes opened and he saw them. S.U.P.E.R. agents were walking towards him. ”Fer **** sakes!” he muttered and stopped leaning in. His purr turned into a low growl as his pupils turned to slits.
They had them surrounded.
“Carrick O’Conner....” two of them had the familiar dart gun un-holstered and aimed in their direction. “You’re to be brought in for questioning.”
”Never again.” Carrick said flatly half joking or was he? There was a couple close calls that made even him uncomfortable. Sure the pay was fine for a while and the attention was nice but it got to the point where he wasn’t even allowed to fly. Just sit pretty. He hated sitting pretty.
His eyes followed hers as she looked at his instrument and smirked, ”Always found words far more comfortin.” he smirked, ”All I heard was that yer blessing me with luck. Which Canadians always need, not like their blessed with the Irish luck.” he flashed his teeth back at her.
Her next question caused him to laugh, ”Me? Training to be an X-men? No, Why would I do that?” he asked shaking his head and laughing. ”More of a lover than a fighter. Can take a hit sure, but not like I like getting punched around.” he folded his arms, ”Do I look like a hero to ya?” he raised his eyebrow.
The shifter rolled his mismatched colored eyes art her and watched the lights start to appear. It was to the sound of violins playing. One first then a few more the more that joined the more intense the lights got. It reminded him of photos he had seen of the Northern lights.
>>>"You? But you are a musician" "An entertainer"
The shifter detected sarcasm. His eyes glanced over at her and saw the grin, ”Damn good one at that. It’s true. Used to be quite and shy as well. Awkward really.” he laughed, he still was but he thought he hid it better he was trying to convince himself more than anyone. ”But I figured if everyone was gonna stare at me and me glorious wings anyways figured I’d give them a reason to.”
The sound changed, as there was a build up of other instruments they started to add their sound and now color into the fog. The shifter was distracted from the lights and was now staring at the princess as her face was illuminated by the different shades of colors each instrument changing the color slightly. He didn’t realize it but he started to purr.
”True, but cash is kings. Just as easily pay me to sing songs bout ya.” he smirked, ”Be easier than the whole enslavement thing I’m sure. Have a tendency to be difficult.”
”Kinda like dragons, don’t got scales or nothing. Better looking too.” he nodded his head before laughing, ”Just need a can opener.”
Watching her mist out into another form, he stood and took a step back not sure what to expect. ”Well, I hid me tail I’m sure I could pull of the whole angel thing. Bad luck’s nothing to divine wrath. Right?” his tail wrapped his leg and he opened his wings fully making sure to avoid any bushes.
”So you can do bad luck fer a lifetime, what about good luck. Wouldn’t mind me some of that.” he folded his wings back behind himself and his tail went back to doing it’s own thing.
”Yeah, well…” he sighed and shrugged, ”Just won’t spend them anywhere then. Just the mansion.” he said reluctantly. His tail flicked at her touch before flicking back at her finger. Carrick might have controlled that one.
Carrick chuckled ”I saw that, hilarious by the way. I didn’t participate though, might have found some earlier that day.” Raising an eyebrow and cocking his head so he was looking at her, ”Technical questions?” he was gonna ask further but decided not to, he was curious but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to hear the questions.
”Aye, beautiful. Not as beautiful as you though.” he chuckled and smiled. He was serious, but was aware how corny it sounded. The princess made that one too easy not to.
The fog was now high in the sky and focused over the water. He couldn’t imagine what it would look like if he was flying towards it. A cloud maybe? ”Well, at least ya get attention fer it.” he said with a laugh ”Used ta hate it.” he said, ”The attention, if ya can believe it.”
>>>"My breed is believed to be most vicious, and particularly spiteful toward humans... devouring them, enslaving them, raising their dead to do our bidding."
It took him a second before he smirked and laughed a bit as well. It was an odd having a cat giggle before him. Even weirder he was laughing with it and talking with it. ”Right on.” he raised his hand, ”Can’t imagine I’d be worth eating or enslaving. Takes away… me flare?” he said trying to find the right word.
The shifter’s curiosity got the better of him and he reached over to pet the cat-girl? She said she was born like this so did that mean he was talking to a cat of a girl who was a cat. It was starting to get confusing the more he thought about it so Carrick did what he did best and stopped thinking.
His tail mimicked hers and went behind his body out of view. ”Got no idea love.” he laughed again ignoring both other voices in the back of his head. Both of them were asking if she was food. He made a mental note to stop eating animals on the property when in his Gryphon form. Last thing he wanted was to eat someone.
”Preach girl.” he nodded his head, ”Normally it’s just fight n’ flight but me instincts keep asking if yer food.” he flashed his pointed teeth. ”I don’t eat people… or cats now.” his pupils turned to cat like slits to oppose hers.
”Gryphons don’t enslave, devour sure. We like gold, women and above all else protecting our hoard. Because it’s ours and no one elses.” his hoard was currently under his bed. No one was dumb enough to check under there what with the food and garbage. ”Apparently we’re hard to kill. Knights would try and claim fame by offing ‘em.” he shrugged. ”So if ya see any knights, I was never ‘ere.”
”And here I am ruining it by starting a barter system around the mansion.” he didn’t make eye contact with her instead he watched the body before them disappear in a fog before it started to move upwards.
”I- I’ll try to stop it.” he said apologetically his tail draped across his body and landed in her lap. ”So a bit easier fer you though eh?” he asked curiously from the sounds of things she was caged all the same. She was important because what she could do, he just saw it as a way to exploit her. Which he was doing… ”****” he scratched the back of his head. Now feeling bad about collecting the gems he found around the mansion like it was some game.
”You like yer mutation? Or is it more of a pain. Can’t imagine keeping it secret is easy.” he asked curiously.
The shifter clarified, ”She could control how gravity affected her. So she made me the target. Couldn’t out fly her. She cheated. I’m faster at flying.” he said while his eyes scanned the skies and city line for the faller. Carrick doubted Melissa would have had fun if he got into another ‘race’ with Raine. That was for more experienced fliers.
”Innit? Look at the traffic ya missed!” he asked flying over a cross walk that was littered with people. His eyes caught the occasional flash of something reflective and he fought the urge to look for its source he had to remind himself that he was on a mission and had no need for distractions.
”Me too! Would never have gotten a drink with that bartender.” he felt her looking at him and his pointed ears turned red. ”Skies are always more enjoyable with company. Gets too quite up here sometimes.” he said turning his whole body along with Melissa to avoid a flock of birds who weren’t paying attention. ”Little turbulence sorry. So oblivious!” it apparently was a bird thing.
”Not too cold are ya? I can get lower to the city just more moving is all and ya don’t get the view.” he was used to the cold.
”Being Irish?” he smirked mischievously. A chill ran down his spine when she ran her finger over his wing. It was a good chill.
>>>"Or did they grow later?"
Carrick knew what she meant, he was just being difficult. ”Happened when I was twelve.” he started, ”Started with wings, painful at first. The way they sprouted from me back. Wanted to pull them off. Brother offered to cut ‘em off. Pretty sure he still would given the chance.” he said while his tail flicked beside him reminding them it was still there. ”Tail was next, that one was easier to deal with. Kinda does his own thing anyways.”
On the other side of the water an older gentleman walked up to the waters edge and raised his hands causing mist to rise up over the water.
The shifter’s wing might have pulled the princess in a bit as Carrick continued, ”Suddenly I wasn’t just a pipsqueak. I was a pipsqueak with wings. Easier target. No one realized I could fly with them.” he chuckled and held up a finger. ”Ya put someone on top of a flag pole one time…. Then it’s off to America.” he said with a laugh.
”What about you? Sure it was a surprise when ya found out yer blood does that.”
>>>"Two?" "And here I was thinking you people do this all the time. Since you don't have concubines and all."
The shifter raised an eyebrow to the princess, ”Aye, what’s wrong with two? Been meaning to go on more I guess. Just been busy.” he said a little defensively trying not to think on said dates too much. He was here with the princess meaning she got his attention.
”They got an app on phones fer that.” he said trying to recall the name, ”Kindle? Something to do with fire.” he said shrugging, ”never used it though. Never had trouble meeting people.” he said trying to brag because he felt the need now. ”Everybody loves musicians.”
>>>"Aren't you cold?"
He looked down at hands and then shrugged, he was a little but it didn’t warrant for him to ask for his jacket back. Worst case he could just use the blanket he was siting on. With the sun setting it was only going to get colder. ”There.” he said taking a little bit of the bottom of her dress and put it on his leg.
”Kinda used to it. Get’s colder up there.” he said pointing upwards. ”Especially when flying.” he shrugged and opened his wing closest to the princess and draped it on her back to add extra protection from the cold. ”I can sit closer if ya like.” he smirked.
>>>There have to be better clothes for you than this. "But hey, you got me taking your clothes off in public."
”Aye, however I don’t look as good in them.” he said smirking. While the monkey suit was extremely uncomfortable to be in he also knew he looked good in it. He did blush at the comment though. He could feel his face redden and he suddenly wanted to press the Princess’s buttons even if she was helping him. ”Usually it’s just me taking me clothes off.” he smirked.
After the jacket was placed he and the princess took off from the show and went over to the embankment where there was already loads of people gathering. Couples and families littered the area. Carrick did his best to find the best spot then went to work on laying out the blanket, which took less time than removing his jacket.
>>>>"You really planned this""What went wrong with the other dates, if this one is the best yet?"
The shifter paused as he was sitting down next to her making sure not to sit on her dress. ”Haven’t had the date ruined by shifting or had someone throw anything at me.” he said with a smirk. ”Only been on two others?” he asked having to think about it. He didn’t mention Liz because that was a still apparently a sore subject. Pouring some of the contents into the lid he offered the cup to the Princess.
