The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The rest of the lights were dimmed, however the stage lights shown brightly on his golden wings that flexed occasionally to catch the lights. He was a showman after all. As he wrapped up his cover of one of his favorites “Rare old Times” he wrapped it up with a higher note. ”In the rare ol’times!” he strummed the guitar a few times then stood up.
”Ladies n’ Gents. Been a great crowd. I’m Carrick thanks for listen’, make sure ya tell the beautiful ‘tenders n’ waitress’s how great I was. Otherwise they’d stop bringing me back eh’” as usual with a newer venue he set his guitar down took a bow and then pulled the triggers on each hand he accumulated during the bow. Two fireballs erupted out of his hands then died out his wings in unison with the act. Carrick laughed took another bow then grabbed his guitar and kind of skipped off stage his tail flailing back and forth behind him.
”Right. I’ll just wait at the bar?” Carrick asked as he slipped his now protected guitar through one of his wings. He tightened the strap across his chest, comforted by the fact that it was impossible to steal said guitar as long as it was on his back. His tail would have detected something or his wings.
With an awkward pant adjustment he slid onto the seat and tried to flag down the bartender. They waved and then went back to work. Carrick smirked and gave a thumbs up. ”Na, don’t want a drink or nothing.”

Melissa even working had a lot of free time. Running your own business and making much of your own product was far different then just working an eight hour shift. Her land lord was certainly happy she had cleaned up her act a bit. Neighbors complained a lot less about the smell of liqueur that had permeated her apartment and gotten her kicked out of a few of them. Most assumed she was a simple worthless drunk which was far from true. She had been successful and she smelled like booze do to her mutation and water.
She showed up to the bar, Bar none which made her smirk, the Midnight sun had been killing the place in business while she was running it. She was dressed a fitted black strapless dress that revealed just enough t draw the eye, her hair was back in a loose braid and her nails and lips were red. She looked like a woman out to slay and she was though lately that had been thrue drinking games that she won easily. Sam however has asked about the guy in his bar a few times and so Melissa had slowed playing the game as she realized no matter how good her control was she could hurt someone.
Her eyes were drawn to the Mutant with golden wings right away. She finished watching his performance from the Bar. She smiled at his comment on singing his praise to the bar staff. If sales got better when an act was there and the crowd liked them they would return. She only caught site of the tail when he began approaching the bar.
"Play here often? Would of loved an act like you when i had my old bar" she said trying to make casual conversation. She was still awful about talking about her old bar and bars in general, it had become natural to her. "Do you sing a wide range of songs or stick to a certain genre or set of bands?" she asked curiously sipping on her own drink. She could not be sure they were here because of Carrick but the bar did have a good crowd.
”Often ‘nough.” Carrick said noticing the woman in a tight dress. His mismatched colored eyes gave her a quick glance before he averted his eyes. ‘Smooth’ he thought to himself as he awkwardly cleared his throat. ”Pays bills, not that I have much but.” Carrick shrugged and smirked. His tail flicked behind him as he kept his eyes towards her face so he wouldn’t get in trouble for gawking something he never tried to do but always seemed to end up doing it at some point. He still didn’t understand women. Which was fine. He was still playing showman anyways.
”Would have loved to perform at your old bar if you still had it.” Carrick smiled and offered his hand to shake making sure not to touch anymore about what was. She might have been upset about her lock of bar still. It was none of his business anyway. ”Name’s Carrick.”
The bartender walked past them and Carrick waved his hand trying to get the guy’s attention before passing him. His tail twitched behind him in irritation. ”Little bit of everything. Depends on the mood of the room. Then again, an Irishman singing stories of home is always a classic when it comes to drinking.” the shifter flashed his pointed teeth in a grin, ”Accent helps too.” Carrick said as he winked still playing the part of showman.
”Enjoy the show at least?” Carrick asked looking to the woman again now sure he wouldn’t get the barman’s attention. He had wings, should have been easy to get people’s attention.

She smiled and caught his looking her over. The quick glance did not bother her much. "Bill's the bane of existence" she said glancing back for the bartender. She kept her eyes from wondering to much but the wings really drew the eye. She had to wonder how much tough they made just putting on a shirt.
She shook his hand gently. "got leveled when the portal to that other earth opened up. I always knew running a pro mutant bar could have it's dangers though. Im sure you have seen more then one mutant lose his will to the booze" she said having seen it quite a bit herself. "Nice to meet you Carrick, I am Melissa"
As the bartender passed them again she got a bit annoyed. At Carrick spoke, she glanced to either side, leaned over the bar and quickly found two glasses, filling them both with water, before slipping back into her seat. She had filled each glass maybe a bit over two thirds, so that she could swirl it without spilling much.
"you read a room better then this bartender" she said shaking her head at the poor service. It was something that annoyed her on a personal level. "I did, yes and let me put one on for you" she said swirling the glass of water with her finger, keeping the flow of water passing over her finger. In a few minutes she extracted her finger, and inserted into her mouth to dry her finger and other reasons.
"Try some of this, won't have much flavor this way but it is strong" she said with a smile, taking one more glance at the bartender, before looking back at carrick. "This bartender normally like this?" she asked, taking a drink of her own procured drink of water. She was unused to this bar but she had to wonder if this guy did not like Carrick himself or mutants, or what the deal was. Melissa had always take money from human and Mutant alike but she saw the future as one Mutants were on top.
”What I’m sadly realizing.” Carrick said his tail flicked behind him at the thought of bills. His older form probably knew all about them. Maybe he should diversify he did get a do-over of a few years.
Melissa seemed to understand, she did own a bar meaning she knew when people were being ignored. The shifter flashed his pointed teeth in a curious smile. His eyes followed her fingers in the water then followed it to her mouth. Carrick quickly looked away and cleared his throat. ”Eh… right…. Quite a show.”
He eyed the drink and raised his eyebrows. He debated taking a sip but shook his head slightly, ”Da would kick my arse if I turned away a drink but not sure what yer handing me.” he slowly grabbed it his tail flicked behind him as he studied the contents. It wasn’t really hygienic but his curiosity was getting the better of him. He was part cat. Even if he didn’t like to admit it.
”Not sure, think it might have something to do with me not having the right…” he laughed, ”assets?” Carrick then raised an eyebrow ”Mind getting his attention for me love?” Carrick asked as he took a little sip of the current drink and shook his head and set the drink down.

She smiled softly as he looked away. "I do try" she said taking a look around the pair of them. "Smart dad. It's my gift to make booze" she expanded on just a bit. He clearly had apprehension which in hind sight made a lot of sense. Still he was curious enough to take a drink and she knew it was harmless. SHe supposed she should have explained what she could do first.
She had to admit that could well be. She nodded as he asked her for help getting the bartenders attention. She could certainly draw some attention. Her first idea to simply threaten the man with a random mutant power she lacked, it had been a tactic back in her own bar but she decided to shelf that for now. The last thing she wanted was to be arrested for being violent tonight.
She tugged at her dress for a bit more cleavage and leaned over the bar again, but this time she was not subtle about it. She gave a short but loud whistle and As the bartender looked her way she drew her finger over the neckline of her dress and gave a decent pout. The bartender took a few minutes to comply but began making his way over for them. She slipped back into her seat as he did, keeping eye contact with him to draw him in. It seemed her winged friend was right about this guy liking certain assets.
”What the hell you dining in America then love? You’d make an Irishmen a very happy husband.” Carrick laughed as he puckered his lips slightly the taste sill on them. He licked his lips slightly and grinned towards Melissa. The shifters mismatched colored eyes widened as she started to adjust her shirt to produce more cleavage. His face reddened quickly and he averted his gaze not sure what to say other than. ”And look at that. Right on cue.” he noticed the bartenders attention snap towards them after the whistle and then he continued to stare towards her watching the show.
Carrick smirked and grinned, ”Look at that, if only I was blessed with similar assets instead of wings I’d never not be served.” Carrick puffed out his chest a bit and leaned onto the bar as the bartender approached. In a husky voice, ”I’ll take a pint and a shot of whiskey and whatever my new frien’ is ‘aving.” the bartender took a second to take his eyes off Melissa’s chest before looking to Carrick and nodded his head.
”Not the only gift you ‘ave.” Carrick grinned to Melissa, ”Thank you.”

A blush came over her cheeks but she gave a shrug. "was always more interested in work. Took the collage money my parents saved and fled to found a bar. Never helped i use to be a workaholic" she said thinking back. Her parents were still not happy with her and it had been over seven years.
"Maybe but your more interesting this way, wings are a rare gift and i have seen a lot. Well with me you wont have to worry about that" she said resisting the urge to laugh as the Bartender came over. Part of her considered telling the bartender she could turn bones to jello but she decided against it. Lyeing about her real power had been a game for her over the years. She ordered a drink low in actual booze but with flavor.
"I may even have one or two more gifts laying in reserve." she said quite enjoying the Eagle man. "You have quite the gift yourself in that voice. I'm sure you have melted more then one girls heart" she said playfully. She had always been glad she had been born with an annoying but profitable power that was not visible. Those wings as gorgeous as they were, had to caused him pain in his past.
His wings flexed a little behind him out of habit when someone mentioned them. His tail flicked behind him, ”Wings are great for flying sure,” he agreed, ”Not so good at getting a buzz.” she said with a small chuckle.
When she ordered, the bartender walked off to fill the order. Mismatched colored eyes went back to Melissa. ”Oh? Thank you, if only me mother ould hear that she always said I was much better with my mouth shut.” he said breaking into a laugh. ”Naw, she’s- was the one who suggested it. Thought it be for me.” he said remembering his mother had been dead for a few months now. Stupid de-aging memory. ”Me? Never!”
Melissa’s drink was set down first and then Carrick had to wait for his to be set in front of him. His eyes watched the bartender with a toothy grin. He grabbed the shot, ”Cheers, thanks.” he looked back to Mellissa and toasted to her.
”Just one or two? Meaning I can a take guess?” he knocked back the shot, ”Making booze n’…. getting the attention of dense bartenders?” the bartender from behind the bar snapped his head in Carrick’s direction. Carrick smirked and waved, ”Sorry mate.” he looked back to Melissa and raised his eyebrows.

She shared his chuckle but shook her head. "I suppose not, all int he tip the bartender wants.Never cared for Huamn's myself for example but i will take their money all the same" she said awith a shrug. It had been rare at her old bar but now at Sam's it was much more common, as the bar did not cater to one audience or the other unlike her own. Some of the clever humans had even figured on claiming to have a power that could not be shown off since it was almost impossible to prove. It was a tactic she had long used herself as make beer was not exactly threatening and while she could make boose that was flammable, that could have meant way more trouble.
She toasted him back enjoying her time with the griffin man. Her own parents she had talked to infrequently over the years, they had slowly gotten over her use of her collage funds but had almost cooed with i told u so when they had found her her bar was taken a bite of the dust.
"Im quite good at pretending i have far more lethal powers then i do, and if i ever get the marketing, I'm going to be rich" she said tilting her head toward the self made drinks. She had never quite found the marketing and a lot of fake set up would f been needed of course but once she could openly sell and with her overhead, she would have the market. "If you want to guess another i am game?' she said setting a hand on his shoulder as she drank.
‘Mate?’ a voice called out in the back of his mind when she touched his shoulder. His eyes shifted from the hand back to his drink and he took a swig ignoring the voice. His instincts while sometimes good weren’t always followed for obvious reasons. His cheeks filled with red a bit, ”Might ya see double on occasion?” he asked making a joke about her other mutation to distract himself from the fact that he was suddenly nervous.
His tail flicked behind him, ”Alcohol is pretty lethal,” he said, ”no need to pretend more sides, don’t always need a lethal power. Not that great.” he said into his pint glass. ”Not that I’d know first hand or anything.” his wings flexed behind him to help him create the self delusion he just had wings and a tail.
”Wondern’ if you could identify diffren’ alcohols in a mixed drink.” he smirked, ”Be a good way to make money offa drinkin.”

She smiled, it had been awhile since she had seen double. Most bars cut her off well before that point but she had when she ran the bar sampled her own creations to check on flavor, and the proof of it which she had then eyeballed so to speak. "I try to avoid it" she said truthfully missing the joke entirely.
"That is true, it ignites and that can deter people pretty well. I'm just glad i don';t turn the water in peoples bodies to booze" she said thinking how lethal that could actually be. It was something she had never considered while working at her bar. Maybe she just did not give herself the time. "Well if ya did you would be far from the first i have known" she said with a shrug. She was no fighter and she had doubts if she could actually kill anyone, human or not.
"Never tried but i would not think so. Not without considerable practice anyway" she said rolling the idea over in her mind. Her resistance would let her drink enough and keep her mind focused enough where she might be able to.
She took a drink and considered the man wings and tail again."Must be hard being so visible. Clothing must be a nightmare as well" she said wondering how he found anything that fit. "Can you fly with other people?" she asked curiously.
Carrick too was glad she couldn’t do that. While he liked to get sloshed on occasion he didn’t like getting to the point of seeing double. He didn’t know if it was because of his ability to see super far but seeing double from something so far away was weird. Even for him.
”Seems to be a lota’em round ‘ere.” Carrick said sipping from his glass.
”I seem to do alright for me ‘self” he looked to his shoulder and then down at the rest of his clothes. They were like all his clothing custom as in he had to create holes for everything. ”Only an issue putting ‘em on. Sinch takin ‘em off.” The shifter gave her a smirk and a wink.
Finishing his glass and setting the glass down he laughed, ”Need a lift?” leaning into the bar, ”You might need to get me another drink first.” still waiting on the manager to hand off his payment for the evening.
”To answer you’re question, Yes. I can fly with others. Depending on the size of the people, really.” he realized what he said then stopped smirking, ”Not that I was saying you’d be an issue.” his hands shook trying to help express what he was saying. ”I mean, multiple people. Depends on the size. You love? Cake.” he said trying to correct himself hoping he didn’t ruin the only chance he had at getting a drink short of reaching over and making his own drink. He was still waiting to get paid.

"When the bar was up, i was somewhat close to sanctuary so i would get all kinds of questionable folk stop in" she explained though she had taken their money without question like anyone else. Still she had made it clear that she would not shield anyone from arrest either back then. She simply would never have risked her business she was beginning to understand the perks of not owning onces own business.
She smiled when he asked if she needed a lift. He had a friendly and disarming nature to him. She did not understand why it would be different taking them off ot putting them on but she was also not the one with giant wings, so what did she know?
She laughed at his she tripping over his words, it was rather cute. It's all right, i was mostly just curious. I think most people consider what being a bird would be like at some point" she said with a smile. She did wnat to go flying with Carrick but it was something she would not want to impose on him, assuming a lot of people likely asked him for rides.
Her smile faded a bit however as she looked at the bartender still seemingly ignoring Carrick. She kept her temper in check and used her feminine wiles to bring the bartender back over so they could order a few more drinks. The bartender saw her annoyance.
"When i find the right people i want to get my liquor recognized for sale, would be a lot of cash, but best laid plans and all. Would be a lot of faking equipment" she admitted considering what she might do to the bartender if he dared ignore them once more.
The shifter gave her a toothy grin as she brought up the subject then dismissed it. She was playing it off as if she didn’t want to fly. Something Carrick doubted. Everyone wanted to fly, if they had wings they would have. Carrick did and it was one of the many gifts he was willing to share other than his voice of course.
”Wouldn’t be a hassle really, especially if we are heading in the same direction. Faster and cheaper than getting a cab… okay maybe just faster.” he said as he grabbed another one if the drinks she ordered, glad she was there to order otherwise he’d just be bored and sober waiting on for his payment.
As if on cue the manager showed up with a big grin on his face looking to Carrick like he just got the best deal of his life on a new car. Carrick knew what that meant. The shifter should have charge double. Fek. “Great show, can’t wait till you come back.” The older manger said through a bushy beard. “Honestly, didn’t think the show be that great seeing as it isn’t St. Patti’s day. You exceeded all of my expectations.”
Carrick shifted a green eye from Melissa to the manager with a smirk. ”Aye, hard for the Irish on the non-Irish days. Glad you enjoyed the show though.” the manager stopped smiling immediately, “That wasn’t what I meant.” ”No, I get it. You weren’t expecting much and I well… out performed, as usual.”
The manager looked from Melissa to Carrick then to the bartender. “Right, well let me know when you want to perform next here, I also got another bar in queens. Sure they love to have ya.” He motioned to the bartender who showed faster than when Melissa was trying to coax him for a drink and Carrick rolled his eyes. “Next two rounds for Carrick and his date are on the house.” The manager handed Carrick a small stack of bills and the shifter smirked. ”Too kind.” Carrick pocketed the money and gave the widest smirk to the bartender.
Once the manager left Carrick, being Carrick grinned his toothy grin. ”Stick close chief. Haven’t decided what I want those drinks to be yet.” he raised a pint glass to Melissa, ”Be a lot of hoops to jump through I’m sure and while I just got paid the money’s already spoken for other wise I’d offer it to ya. Better than shine… by a lot.” he said with a little laugh, ”Tried a swig with that when I was with the circus and couldn’t see out of me blue eye for a week.”
