The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Dan
"I've never had one of them, but it sounds nice." He had never heard of a double chocolately chip frappe before, there was so many fancy coffees out there he wasn't even sure what one a frappe was. "Sounds fancy-pantsy." He might have to add one of those onto his list of 'things to try one day'...Really, there was an actual list.
"Yeah. I do it all the time. Ask for it to take away and they'll put it in a to go cup and you're golden." He assured her confidently when she asked if he could walk and drink soup. It wasn't that much different from drinking coffee on the go really, at the end of the day it was sipping hot liquid from a cup.
"No, no. I don't need to stay to eat. I'm totally down for explorin'." He replied to her offer to stay until he had finished eating...or drinking, whatever one you did with soup. "Like I said a to go cup with a lid on it and I'm golden." As long as it wasn't alphabet soup or the kind of soup that had chunks in it then it was easy for him to sip it out of the cup without the need for a spoon. Right now he was in good spirits after a successful street performance and he was itching to go exploring in the pleasure of Celeste's company.
Once Dan paid and they had collected their order he headed to the door and looked at Celeste as he reached out his hand and pushed it open, "So where do ya wanna go?" He held his cup in one hand and the door open for her with the other, "Any particular direction you wanna go, or any particular area you've been wantin to explore? Or do you just want to go on a random walkabout?" He asked. "Or follow the wind maybe?" He offered in a lighthearted tone. Though he wasn't joking, he did go on random walkabouts around the city and had some nice memories of doing so...he had also literally followed the wind one or twice, though maybe Celeste would think he was actually mad if he told her that.

"Oh great." Dan replied with a small grin when she confirmed the place did have some kind of soup. His dreams of being a famous illusionist aside Dan was easily pleased with the little things in life. "Isn't it fantastic!" He said with a bigger grin when she retorted with her saying yes and living comment. With that he turned to face forwards again and by Celeste's side.
Once they reached the place Dan pushed open the door and held it for Celeste. Following in behind her he looked he looked at the menu as they approached the counter. There was three choices of soup today but sadly none of them was pea. Dan rubbed a finger on his chin as he thought over his choices, "Hmm. Think I'll go with the tomato soup and crackers." He looked at his new friend as they stood in the queue "Wot you 'avin'?" He asked. He had gotten a few notes in his hat today so this one was on him, even if she didn't realize that yet.
The next decision was if they wanted to order it to sit in or to take away, "You wanna grab a table? Or do you wanna walk around some more and see what gems we might find?" He asked. It was up to her and he was enjoying her company either way.

Dan
At least someone else saw reason and thought letting people hop between realities was not wise. Why was it an unwritten rule that only people who have little to no common sense could be in positions of power and decision making?
Dan quirked an eyebrow when Devon said an alternative version of himself could exist, honestly that one was a bit of a mind bender to think about. Though on the other hand it was kind of cool to think that another version of him self excised. It was a lot to process, two minutes ago he was riding the train and sipping his soup having a normal day, and now everything he had known about reality and the universe had been tipped on its head. But he was handling it well considering, just a range of understandably surprised tones and expressions as he talked.
"That must 'ave been trippy." Dan replied when Devon said he'd met his AV self. "Meetin' yourself had to be out and out mind bending." Learning that the theory of alternate universes excising was now a fact was mind bending enough for Dan right now, let alone the idea of meeting himself. Who knew how many other realities was out there and what he was up to in any of them.
"Yeah I am." He confirmed optimistically when Devon said he seems like he was in entertainment. And he frowned slightly when Devon warned him to be careful his double doesn't sully his name. "Oh great. Not only could there be another me running around someplace, the guy could be a jerk too." He shook his head as he let out a sigh.
"I'm Daniel Tyler. The illusionist known as The Escapist." He introduced in return. "Maybe you've 'eard of me?" He added with a little bit of a hopeful twinkle. "But you can call me Dan." He offered with a friendly smile. Hardly anyone called him by his full name...unless he was in trouble.
"So Devon, do you work as part of the RIP committee? Or do you do something else for a livin'?" He asked. As fun as it was to guess and make up vocations, Dan was curious what pretty boy did for real. He seemed very articulate and abreast with current affairs and political policies for a model, but then again he also seemed to have too much common sense to be an actual politician.

Dan
Dan smiled at the compliment when she said he didn't need his back up career, "Thanks." He replied enthusiastically. "Actually, it's come in very 'andy in my career." He happily admitted. "That practical course I took in collage was carpentry. So now I can make my own props and stuff for my acts. Saves me a fortune." He told her with a pleased grin. Sometimes life just worked.
"Oh, there are some right gems around. Amazing out-the-way places that most people 'aven't 'eard of." He told her. "And a few that can only be found in good ol' New York. Not places like Regina or even London." He mused.
"You need to learn to make time, darlin'." He replied with a wink when she said she didn't have much time to do stuff like this. "Schoolin' and all that's impor'ant, but so is life." He squeezed his fist tightly as if trying to drain juice out of an imaginary lemon, "You only get one life in this world and you need to squeeze every drop you can out of it." He said with passion. "Say yes a little and try new things and watch, you'll have some of the best times of your life. Even if they are just the little moments."
He smiled again when she said she'd keep an eye out for one of his shows. It always felt nice when someone liked his work or said they was a fan, "Great. Yeah, sure. It would be great to 'ave you come to a show." Only he had no idea when his next official show would be. He was between shows right now and his manager was taking care of it all. "I'm between gigs right now, but if you check me out on social media it will say where I'll be next an' all of that." His official FaceBook page was regularly updated with a list of upcoming performances and times and locations of planned street performances. As well as clips, photos and videos of tricks and past performances, amongst other thing designed to promote him and propel his image (not to mention contact info to inquire about booking a performance).
"Do the reviews say anything about soup?" He asked as they began to walk, like it was a totally normal question to ask. He sometimes forgot that most people didn't love soup as strongly as he did. But hey, it added to his lovable quirkiness.
After they had walked a few meters Dan looked at Celeste and couldn't help but say what he was thinking, "Of course, you do realize you are currently going to get a coffee with a random street illusionist, from a place you've never been to before because it has been recommended by a bunch of strangers on the Internet?" A little smirk made its way on face. He guessed it wasn't the type of thing Celeste would normally do, of course he didn't know that for sure, but she struck him as the more serious and sensible type.
"See?" He asked, before walking backwards so he could face her as he squeezing the imaginary lemon in his fist again. Reiterate his earlier point. "You never know where life will take you if you let it." He said with a bright expression.
Only now he was a couple of steps in front of her as they walked and talked, and she was the one who knew where they were going. Ah, he could follow her from in front, it would be fine.

Dan
Dan understood what the man was saying about people moving on quickly so as not to disrupt their lives, but still. Even though he had been out of town working how was it no one had said anything to him? Not even his family!
Dan raided his I brows a little and nodded as if to say 'Yeah, I suppose so' when Devon chuckled that the city was famously resilient, "That's true." Dan had lived there enough years by now to have noticed that for himself.
"Travel?" He said, a hint of disbelief in his tone at the notion. Not that he couldn't actually believe it, there was little that surprised him in NY now, "Wow, leave it to New Yorkers to pitch a tent and charge admission." He commented nonchalantly before relaxing back in his seat, seemingly accepting the news as quickly as any native borne New Yorker.
He frowned a little when Devon went on to say about things not being so great for mutants on the other side, "Oh dear." Even though he kept his own mutation a secret from most people Dan knew he had it pretty good, and he always felt for others who didn't have it so easy.
"Is it really wise to let people just go hoppin' into another universe though?" He asked. "Aren't people worried about messin' up the space time continuum or somefin'? He knew nothing about nothing when it came to all this kind of stuff. All he knew was what he had seen in the movies and shows like Star Trek

Dan
Dan chuckled when she asked him how his parents reacted, "Nah, they were suppor'ive. Well, suppor'ive but realistic." He said. One side of his mouth rising in a smirk. "I've always been interested in this stuff since I was little so it didn't come as a big surprise when I start'id sayin' I wannid to be an illusionist as I grew up. They said if that's what I really wannid then I should go for it, but they also told me to take a course in somethin' more practical at collage so I'd 'ave some kind of back up career." And it was the time he took choosing that 'practical' course that had left his parents sweating a bit.
He could still remember the thrown off looks on their faces the morning he told them he was going to take a course in carpentry. Not that they didn't think that carpentry was a good a back up as any, it was just far from the first thing they thought Dan would pick...Though technical he didn't pick it, he just closed his eyes and pointed at the list of available courses. Not that his patents knew that.
Dan shrugged when she said she'd not heard of him. It was like anything, if you wasn't into pop music you wouldn't have heard of the latest rising boy band, and if you wasn't into magic tricks you wouldn't have heard of Daniel Tyler.
He looked at her when she said she lived near by and was scouting the area, "Good for you." He said, "I love to walk around and to check the little restaurants and side streets an' all of that. There's so much to see in New York, I've lived 'ere a good few years now and I still 'aven't seen all of it." So many people travel miles and cross boarders to go sight seeing, but they hardly ever take the time to see the things on their own door step. It was a shame really, there was so many unique experiences and adventures they missed out on.
He smirked when she asked if he escaped from handcuffs and the like, "I escape from a little more than just ancuffs, luv." He replied. Try a chained and padlocked steel box inside of a large tank of water that was locked with a padlock of it's own. "And it's not judgy at all." He assured her. He had chosen the stage name 'The Escapist' because he was an escapist and in his book people had to be a little slow on the uptake if they didn't pick up on that even a little bit.
"No, no I do more that just street acts. I performer at all kinds of venues." He answered when she asked if he only did street acts and he grinned broadly when she told him she's love to see one of his shows, "Yeah?" It was always nice to hear when someone wanted to see his acts. "I don't 'ave anyfing lined up right this minute, but I perform at different thea'ers and places, wherever I can get a decent gig. Maybe you could keep an eye out for one of my shows."
He just looked at her with an appreciative smile when she told him that everyone would soon know who he was. She seemed like a lovely girl, kind of reminded him of his younger cousin.
Dan was more of a soup than a coffee man but the place sounded nice, "I'm 'eading that way too." He replied, motioning his head towards that general direction, "Care to walk together?" He asked casually.
Dan could relate when Celeste said she hadn't decided what she was going to do at school and that she was going to figure it out there, "I left that til the last minnit too." (I left that until the last minute too) He replied. "My parents start'id sweatin bullets, I left it so late." He smiled warmly at the amusing memory. "But it all worked out." He finished with a shrug. Assuring her she didn't have to have it all figured out right now.
He nodded as he listened to her say she was only here to study. And he smirked when she asked him if he had the desire to be a famous illusionist. "Already 'alf way there, luv." (Already half way there) He replied with a charismatic wink. "If you 'aven't seen any kind of act like this until today then ya won't of 'eard of me, but I'm already a known Illusionist." He told her. "The Escapist." He announced, lifting his hands with half-hearted dramatic flair as he did so. Well, he hadn't let his stardom go to his head yet and couldn't take himself too seriously now, could he? "Not everyone's 'eard of me yet. But I do get reconized. On me way to becomin' an ouseold name." (Not every one has heard of me yet. But I do get recognizes. On my way to becoming a household name)
He wasn't bragging, he was just telling her how it was. But he did enjoy being able to say he'd made a name for himself and it showed on his face...Ok maybe he was bragging a tiny bit, after all what performer wasn't even just a little bit narcissistic? And he had worked hard enough the get where he was so he had earned a few bragging rights. "I've been on the telly a couple of times. Had a few acts live streamed on the internet. Now I've got a couple of things in the works, if it pans out I've got it made. Dreams really do come true." He said casually, as if it was no big thing. And with that he bent down and picked up his things.
"So, Wot way you 'eadin?" (What way you heading) He asked. He figured he could walk with her if she was going his direction, if not he would bid her adieu and they could go their separate ways.

"Yeah. Well it's very expensive now at least. But I'm from the East part of London myself, it's a little less expensive there." He told her. Though a little less desirable, hence why his accent was less like the Queen's and more like Del Boy's from the show Only Fools and Horses. Thankfully that worked in his favor this side of the pond. Most Americans seemed to love it for some reason and he used it to his advantage on his road to fame.
"Aw nice, congrats. Wot ya gonna study?" He asked cheerfully when she talked about school.
"Ah, the land of beer and bacon, nice." Or was it the land of maple syrup maybe? "Wot made you decide to move 'ere then?" He asked casually. "You come 'ere to study?" He shot her a playful, cheeky grin, "Or did you come 'ere to try and get famous?"
Ok, he was playing with her a little. But hundreds, if not thousands, of young, star-eyed women came to New York every year with a head full of dreams and a bucket of enthusiasm, so it wasn't too much of a stretch. Unfortunately he knew most of those girls' dreams ended with them waiting on tables...or a lot worse if they weren't careful. But hopefully nothing like that would happen to this girl, he liked this girl.

Dan
"Well, I live 'ere now, but I've been outta tan." He replied. (Well, I live here now, but I've been out of town)
Dan listened as the man spoke about everything that had been happening. When he said the weather had been off Dan wasn't all that surprised, there had been a lot of weather phenomenons around the world the over the past decade, so hearing that it had happens in New York wasn't a stretch to believe. But Dan squinted slightly when the guy continued to go on about the flow of time and about a portal to an alternate universe.
When the gentleman finished talking Dan stared at him for a moment...What?
After a moment his slightly puzzled squint was replaced by an amused smile and a light laugh, this guy was pulling his leg...Wait, the guy didn't crack a smile as if to say "I got you there" and Dan's smile turned back to a more serious expression. Was this guy for real?...Nah, he couldn't be. New York was full of all kinds of crackpots and comedians and this guy had to be having a laugh. Dan grinned as he saw the funny side...But pretty boy was staring back with a straight face, he was being serious. Dan's smile faded again as he realized the man wasn't joking.
He looked at the guy with blank squint, "You wot?" (You what?) He blurted. "You pullin' my leg?" He asked rhetorically.
Portals and alternate universes was very believable and easy to accept in movies and tv shows, but in the real world it was a lot for him to wrap his brain around. He leaned forwards as he took out his phone and did a quick search, pulling up a load of news headlines. It was a whole thing for sure.
"Wait. So a portal opened up, and it leads to an alternate universe?..." He reiterated. "...Why wasn't I told about this?" He all but exclaimed.
His thumbs tapped this phone screen in lightning speed as he typed his manager the message "Portal. Alternate universe. wht, Gavin?" He hit send before he rested the back of his hand on his leg. "An alternate universe opens up, that's the kind of thing you text someone about." He stated, looking back at Devon.
"So wot appened?" (so what happened?) He asked. "Wot's appnin about it now?" (What's happening about it now) He asked relatively calmly before taking a sip from his cup.
It took a little more than learning about the discovery of an alternate universe to shake him for more than a couple of minutes. Now seeing it in person might be a different story.
(Ooc: As I said elsewhere I'm gonna attempt to write a cockney accent for a bit I'm not confident that it's gonna go well, but it's fun to try and it'll be good for a laugh if nothing else haha)

Dan
Dan looked at the man as his head lifted from his phone and he definitely had the bone structure of a model, if he actually was a model or not was another thing. But Dan had a game of looking at people and making up stories for them, so until he found out other wise the guy modeled cologne or underwear...or both. And he had a frufru dog of some kind that just lived on his lap the whole time he was in his dressing room.
“I was reading over some of the governmental policies they’ve enacted for crossing the RIP."
Well that answer was what he was doing and not where he was going, but that was close enough. It got the conversation going, not that Dan had a clue what they guy was on about. Policies for crossing the RIP? Since when did you need a policy about resting in peace?
Dan looked at the man with a slightly confused expression, he must have meant a different kind of RIP. "Crossin' the wot?" He asked. (crossing the what?) As far as Dan was concerned the dude might as well have been talking another language.
And pretty boy was talking about politics, so maybe he was a politician's son or some kind of lawyer and not a model?
"How’s the soup? Smells great.”
Dan grinned a little as he clasped his styrofoam cup in one hand, "Oh it's luvly." (lovely) He replied, as he uncrossed his leg. "So is reading about government policies a job or a hobby?" He asked. The guy didn't look like the type to be interested in politics for work or as a pass time, but if there was one thing that Dan had learned as an illusionist it was that things were not always what they appeared.
Dan just looked at her with a smile when she began thanking him for the show. Honestly it was his pleasure, doing tricks was what he loved to do and being able to earn money off it was a dream come true.
His eyebrow raised slightly when she said she had never seen an act like his before, "Really? Well I'm glad you liked it." He replied, giving her a flattered smile.
He was glad to have introduced her to the world of magic tricks, though he personally liked to call them illusions and himself an illusionist. A different name for the same thing yes, but magic tricks and magician implied there was real magic involved, when it was really all just slight of hand or smoke and mirrors and Dan didn't pretend it was anything more than that. Not that he had a problem if other people called them magic tricks or referred to him as a magician, after all that was the most common terms.
He chuckled when asked if he was from New York. "No, luv. I'm from London. But I live around 'ere now." He answered. "Got myself my own apartment 'ere a few years ago." He said, subconsciously motioning in the vague direction his apartment was in.
"Wot about you, you live around 'ere? Or you just visitin'?" He asked. He could be wrong but with her accent he doubted that she was a native New Yorker by birth. But he was no expert when it came to accents and couldn't place where he thought she was original from.
(Ooc: I'm gonna attempt to write a cockney accent for a bit lol. Not confident it's gonna go well, but it should be good for a laugh if nothing else haha.)
