The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Dan
Dan saw as the mutant reformed the shards into a gauntlet on his arm. That was one he sure hadn't seen before and he was both surprised and amazed. Considering the fact that he was one himself Dan didn't know an over abundant amount about mutants. Though he found the various kinds of powers they could have fascinating.
Most any normal person would have been left visibly flabbergasted after witnessing Shin's display of power, but for the eccentric Englishman it just sparked the beginnings of an idea for a new illusion. But now was not the time! He pushed the thought aside and grabbed the hand Shin offered to him. "Pleased to meet you."
Dan shook his hand with a grin, "I don't know what that was, mate. But it's amazin'" He said referring to everything Shin had done to form the shards and morph them.
He gave a nod, in and up it was. "Right you are then." He didn't waste a second following his new companion inside.
At first he nodded in agreement when Shin said he hoped they would find the kid soon, but then the not stopped and the rock-star styled illusionist gave a slightly awkward chuckle, "Never said I was a mutant. But I'm not bad with kids if I do say so myself, so don't worry." He replied with grin as they began to ran up the stairs.
Technically he hadn't just denied being a mutant, but he wasn't gonna admit it to a relative stranger either. Dan wasn't ashamed of who he was, he just didn't go around telling every Tom, Dick or Harry was all.
Reaching the top of the first flight of stairs Dan looked around. Then spotting George he pointed, "There!"
The magician hurried towards the Monkey-Boy who had come to a seemingly unmotivated stop. As he got closer Dan slowed down a little so as not to frighten him off, "Hey, little buddy." He used calm and happy baby/pet friendly voice.
George tilted his head slightly, looking at the pair calmly before he casually hopped on to some pipe work before the men got too close. He wasn't gonna make it that easy.
And just as quickly as he had stopped George took off again scurrying along the pipes, "Oh he is a right little monkey isn't he?" Dan vented with very mild annoyance. No pun intended.

Dan
Hearing the lad's reply about being chased Dan lifted his head and looked past the young man seeing the three burly and tattooed miscreants in question. A mild peak of interest crossed the face of the the laid back Englishman, who's demeanor was naturally that of a half baked rock-stare, "Huh, I see what you mean."
Dan turned his head as the boy hurried past him and headed towards the back. Then seeing that the three reprobates were making a beeline for the store, obviously still in pursuit of the young Russian, Dan quickly put on a clumsy act and knocked over a small table.
He purposely caused it to fall right in front of the door so that it would hinder the men from entering as the waitress set about tidying it up.
"So sorry, Luv." The Cockney apologist with a convincing performance as he took a couple of steps backwards.
Then taking the opportunity, while people were distracted, Dan dashed towards the back after the young Russian. "S'cuse me. Sorry!" He offered, bumping his way through the workers.
The three geniuses pulled the door open at the front of the store and scrambled to get inside at the same time, of course getting in each others ways and almost squashing themselves in the door frame like a cliche cartoon sketch. Only to then be slowed down by the table and the waitress who was picking it off the floor.
The leader groaned in annoyance and proceeded to bulldoze his way through. "Hey!" The waitress exclamed, shooting the men a look.
In the rear of the store Dan caught up to the plucky Russian.
Seeing the back exit the eccentric illusionist reached out and grabbed the doorknob. Sensing it was locked Dan used his power to pick the lock with his mind. An act that took only mere seconds.
"Here!" He called out, opening the door so the lad could slip out.
That was the good thing about Dan's lock picking mutation, there was no viable manifestation of power. No poof of smoke, no rays of light. It was just mental concentration and he could pick a lock without anyone being any the wiser. It was an upside of his power that helped him keep his mutant status hidden from those he didn't want knowing about it. Not to mention it gave him an infinite advantage in his career as an escape artist.
But as quickly as Dan had opened the door for his fellow mutant he could hear the three dimwits heading their way.
"Move out of my way!" Came the approaching voice of the leader, followed by the sound of them all brutishly crashing their way past the staff.
Dan quickly followed his new friend out the exit and he pulled the door closed behind himself. Though he didn't slow down to lock it again.
"Hurry, Kid. This way." He said, directing the young man to a side alley.

Dan
Dan's mind barely had a second to process that he had just been leapfrogged by a capuchin and that it was scurrying down the side walk in the middle of NYC when he felt someone bump his shoulder as they hurried past in a tremendous rush. And before he knew what was going on Dan heard the the man shout the words 'Sorry! Baby monkey mutant!'
Most people would have been left wondering if this was real or if they needed to get a psychological evaluation, but the quirky Englishman's natural response was to join the pursuit. Leaving his hat of change there on the ground the street performer took of running after the Asian man who had a small lead on him.
"Sorry! S'cuse me. Comin' through!" He said as weaved through the foot traffic as fast as he could, seeing the monkey climb into a building several yards ahead. As Dan neared the building he heard the man muttering a few choice words and complain about encountering a locked door. An issue he knew he could help solve, no problem.
Dan reached the dark haired man just as he formed an axe out of light blue triangles. Ok that sight made even the offbeat illusionist's eyes widen a little. Even he didn't see stuff like that very often and hadn't expected it, at all. Not that it phased him much, after all there were stranger displays of mutant powers out there. Point and case they were chasing a baby mutant with apparent primate morthing abilities. And right now they had said monkey-boy to concentrate their attention on!
"Whow! 'old up, Mate." The cockney man exclaimed stopping him from putting the axe to the door.
"I can 'elp with that." He said pulling two bobby pins out of his pocket and moving to the door. "Dan, your friendly local illusionist at your service."
Dan wasn't ashamed of being a mutant but he very rarely made his mutation known to random strangers. For the most part he usually only displayed his powers freely around the inner circle of people in his life because not everyone was warm and friendly towards mutants, not to mention it could ruin his career. He would probably be condemned and branded as a fraud if it ever got out that 'The Escapist' could controlled locks with his mind and his life as an illusionist come escape artist would be over. Perish the thought!
So no, he put the bobby pins in the keyhole to make it appear he was picking the lock manually, but his eyes squinted ever so slightly as he harnessed his power and used his mind to get the lock open in literally three seconds.
No time was waisted before turning the handle and opening the door, "Did you see wot way he went?" He asked as he entered the building alongside Shinbo.
Dan had been developing a new trick he was working on and crafting props for it in his workshop since 7am, and after putting in a good eight or so hours he had decided to take the rest of the day off.
At 5ft 6 the eccentric illusionist didn't stand out of the crowed, with the exception of his rock star like attire. But in New York even his rock star fashion sense hardly made him stand out as he walked amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy avenue. He loved how alive New York was. It was the city that never sleeps and it was a much faster paced place then where he had grown up back in East London. Which afforded someone as spontaneous and impulsive as Dan plenty of opportunity for fun and adventure which fitted his 'live life' personality perfectly.
Taking a side road Dan left the main street and entered a less busy section of the area. He pulled into the soup store deciding it was a good idea to grab a little something now that it was late afternoon, taking off his sunglasses as he entered.
He looked at the menu as he queued, deciding what flavor soup he wanted. He loved soup and pea was his favorite, he'd been to the store a few times and knew that the pea soup was good there, but nothing was better than his mother's peas soup, so he decided to go for minestrone.
After paying Dan turned around and headed for the door, he took a couple of steps when a fair skinned young man collided into his chest.
"Watch it." the Cockney man said calmly. He wasn't annoyed but if he hadn't managed to hold his soup cup out to one side like he did then the boy could have been scolded, and he was sure that wouldn't have made the lad's day.
"You alright?" He asked. Dan partly meant was the boy alright after bumping into him like that, but he was referring more to the look the boy seemed to have on his face. A look that led Dan to suspect that the guy wasn't running because he was in a rush to get some soup and a sandwich.
With his gradually rising fame as 'The Escapist' and the somewhat constant venue bookings he was starting to get for his illusion acts, Daniel Tyler didn't really need to busk anywhere near as much as he still chose to.
But Dan didn't really do his street performances for the money, not now he wasn't neighboring on broke anymore...though the few extra dollars he always made from it didn't hurt. But no, he did it out of passion for his craft, the thrill of performing and the love of seeing the looks on peoples faces.
Dan was on the sidewalk entertaining his captivated crowed with a card trick, while on the other side of the road a mother stopped to tend to her two year old who was fussing in his pushchair.
The mother crouched down in front of her son, hushing him soothingly as she adjusted his blanket and seat belt in attempt to settle him down. But as she did so her son's skin began to ripple in an unnatural way. The mother's face dropped and her eyes widened as her son began to morph. His face began to change and a light coat of fur began sprouting out of his face and arms.
"No, no, no. What's happening now?" His mother said very tensely. Her son had been doing strange things lately and she knew by now that he wasn't...normal.
But it only took a few moments before the light coat of fur exploded into a full body of fur as the boy morphed into a White-headed capuchin.
With his new formed body now small enough to slip easily out of his belt the monkey-boy slipped out of the pushchair and he quickly scurried along the sidewalk, darted past his mother.
"George!" The mother cried as she spun around to face the direction he was going.
George moved with insane speed and agility, weaving through pedestrians before zipping between the legs of a hazel-eyed Asian man.
"George! C-come here." She said in a baffled and defeated tone as she ran a few yards chasing him. "Stop him, please somebody stop him!" She cried desperately. Her arm outstretched as if reaching for her baby who was quickly gaining distance.
Dan finished his final trick with a flourish and he smiled he received his much loved applause. He crossed one leg in front of the other and stretched his arms out to the sides as he tipped his head forwards in a bow of a true showman. It was in that moment that George leaped into the air and jumped onto Dan's shoulder, leapfrogging over him.
Startled and confused Dan shot upright and looked about with a 'who-what-why-what-the-heck!' expression, only to see it had been a monkey...A monkey? He took a few blinks, even for New York that was not normal.

Dan
Dan smiled and chuckled when she asked him if he was okay and that he wasn't going to actually jump, and then he realized how that must have sounded. Especally to someone who didn't know him.
"Haha oh don't worry, luv." He said putting a hand on her shoulder assuringly. "I was thinking for an act, you know?" He explained casually. "I'm a rather happy soul, I'm not inclined to you know..." He lifted his hand and then arched it quickly towards the ground as he let out a whistle.
No Dan was full of life and adventure and he had not intentions of doing anything to shorten his precious time on this earth by even so much as a day. Even if some of his escape acts might suggest otherwise.
"Do... You think we can get up there?"
He turned his head to look at her and grinned widely. Oh he had a few tricks up his sleeve, "There's one way to find out." He replied.
"Come on!" He said grabbing her wrist and pulling her towards the building adventurously.
He led her through the frond door and stopped running as soon as their feet stepped inside, "Follow my lead." He muttered.
Dan didn't even know what the building was used for but he put his sunglasses on and stood up straight like he owned the place, or at least like he belonged there. He looked like a British rock star so he simply began strutting confidently across the floor like he was one. The building was a place of business so if he just avoided eye contact with the front desk and acted as if he was heading up for an appointment with a record label, it might get them past the lobby.

Dan
Dan shrugged when Celest said she'd believe it when she saw it, "I don't know how true it is, it's just wot I've 'eard." He said with a light grin.
"I'll 'ave to find out one day." He mused casually, mentally adding it to his to do list.
He enjoyed the walk with Celest as they headed Downtown, finishing off his soup as they went. It didn't seem to take long before they found themselves in the center, surrounded by the really tall skyscrapers.
Dan threw his empty cup in a trashcan, not missing as step as he looked up admiring the architecture and impressive height of the buildings with slack-jawed awe while they walked along. Then Dan slowed to a stop as he looked up at one very tall building, tipping his head slightly as he went silent in his own thoughts. An idea of a grand illusion was forming in his mind. Oh if he could work out the finer details and pull it off it could propel his career into a whole other level of success.
Dan realized he had just stopped without saying anything. He checked to make sure Celest hadn't gone too far then looked at her, "Sorry. I was just thinking about jumping off one of these buildings." He said casually as he started walking again, like it was a totally normal thing to say.
When they reached the next street Dan saw the tallest skyscraper this side of the city. He looked up at the very, very top of it, "I don't know about stars, but I bet you can see the entire city from up there." He said, looking at Celest with a little smirk forming. He was getting another idea.
Surly it wouldn't be too difficult for them to go to the top of the private building and check out the view...
Dan nodded with a smile then took a sip of his soup when Devon said they'd set it up.
“Well my stop is next. I’ll look up your manager, Dan and see about that tour and a booking or two,”
When Devon stood Dan set his soup for and sat forward on the edge of his seat ready to shake the mans hand but Devon offered his card before Dan offered his hand.
“Feel free to reach out to me if you’ve any need or interest,”
He flipped the card over in his fingers, quickly looking over before he put it in his pocket, "Will do, mate."
“It was nice meeting you.”
"Yeah, it was nice meetin' you as well." He said shaking his hand with a firm but friendly grip.
Dan sat back again and picked up his soup up. Crossing his leg and relaxing back in his seat with his free hand resting on his ankle, "Feel free to look my manager up, or you can just use the card in your top pocket." He said with a charming wink, before the man got of the train.
Oh yes he had flawlessly slipped his own business card in Devon's pocket, making it appear there 'magically'.
Dan listened as Devon explained everything Haven did. He wasn't gonna lie, he was kind of impressed. He tilted his head a little and he listened as Devon went on to talk about Sanctuary. "Yeah, sounds very interesting. A tour would be great." Why not? It had piqued his interest and Dan was the type to say yes to most things. It certainly helped to keep life interesting that way and he never knew where it would lead him, and that's the way he liked it.
"Yeah, I do private bookin's." He replied. Even with his rising fame Dan rarely turned his nose up to a job. Especially when the venue sounded so interesting. "Just speak to my manager. He takes care of all my bookin's and wot not. He'll be able to see when I 'ave any openings for a booking." He said very relaxedly.
As inclined as Dan was to say yes to things he was still sensible enough to direct Devon to his manger, Gavin. One; Because his manager did organize and arrange most if not all of his bookings. Two; So that he could have Gavin tell Devon that there was no openings in the schedule on the off chance that Dan decided that Sanctuary wasn't his kind of place after all.

Dan
Dan grinned as he watched the girl twirl. It was nice seeing other people being spontaneous and adventurous, something about it just made him happy inside. After all what was life without adventure and spontaneity? Oh how unbearable it would be if EVERYTHING was planned all of the time!
He nodded with a smile when she stopped and chose a direction, "Down town, 'ere we come." He said. Handing her coffee back to her and immediately heading in that direction.
"Just stick close, it could be easy to get lost down town in a big city like this." Not to mention New York could be a dangerous place too and Dan wanted to keep an eye on Celeste and make sure she was alright. Seeing as she was a young woman and that he was the one getting her into this walkabout in the first place.
"I've 'eard some of the buildin's are so tall that if you go all the way to the top, you can actually see the stars at night." He commented casually as they began approaching some of the taller skyscrapers. How true that was he didn't know, but he loved the idea that it could be.
(Ooc: Sorry it's taken so long. I was sooo busy with work at Christmas, then I was ill, then it took me a little time to get back into the swing of writting.)
"Like wise" He replied when Devon said it was a pleasure.
He listened as Devon talked about what he did. A psychologist as well as working on a board for charities, "Wow." He replied. So definitely not a model then. "That all sounds very philanthropic." He commented, "Sounds like interesting work."
Dan nodded lightly with a pensive frown as Devon said about mutants preferring to live on this side of the RIP. "Yeah. I can imagine." He replied in a low tone. Being a mutant he felt for them...though he was very careful who he let know that.
Thankfully Dan hadn't had that much trouble himself over being a mutant, but he knew that not all mutants were so fortunate. And it was sad to think what they must be going through on the other side of that RIP if things were so bad that they wanted to leave their own universe. Think about it, moving country is a big enough thing but moving universes was a whole other level.
"Sounds like Haven does a lot then?" It was more a comment than a question. He wasn't sure what Haven was but he was interested in it. Or at least curious about it...And about what they did to help mutnats.

Dan
"Fair enough." Dan shrugged when she said about liking and not liking coffee. He could relate to that one, coffee was useful but it wasn't always tasty. It all depended on what time of day it was and how much sugar had been pumped into it!
He smiled approvingly when she agreed they should just go exploring. Dan had a very spontaneous side to him and right now he was in the mode to just 'go and see what happens'.
One corner of Dan's mouth curled up in little smirk, "That..." He started. "Sounds like a very excellent idea." He finished, taking her coffee from her so that she would be free to spin around without spilling it. "You lead, I'll follow." He grinned.
