History Of Your Character
Zelda was born to Barbara Wilder and Dave Gray. Her parents met during college and quickly fell in love (and also fairly quickly had her.) Barbara was born into a family of wealth – and unfortunately, did not approve of the quick romance, the sudden marriage, and the surprise baby on the way. They promptly disowned Barbara, since they already had an older son who they preferred anyways.
It wasn’t too big of a deal to Barbara, since she was already living with Dave and were established. Both had good jobs. When Zelda was born, she knew she made the right choice. Dave and Barbara provided Zelda with a stable, nurturing environment that helped Zelda grow. Zelda knew she wanted to be a doctor at a fairly young age – she was very interested in the body. She “played doctor” with a lot of her younger friends (no, really, they would be literally sick and she’d try to diagnose them and tell their parents what to do.
When Zelda was old enough to finally go to college, she primarily subsided off government grants & loans. Her family simply didn't have the necessary funds or resources to provide the money for her education. She graduated with all of her medical requirements in Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, right after her fellowships, her father was involved in a fatal collision & she had to return to Oklahoma City. Her mother was distraught and no longer even wanted to live in Oklahoma City.
Lucky for them both, she was offered an internist position at the New York- Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital, along with a secondary role for research in genetics and immunology. Barbara and Zelda left to make a new home for themselves in New York City.

Zelda took a deep, labored breath as she unpacked a few of her boxes in the new, two story house her and her mother had moved into. Zelda was grateful that they were able to sell their home in Oklahoma City so quickly. Even more surprising, they were able to almost entirely buy off the two story house they’d just moved into. They’ll only have to make payments for a short loan period. Zelda was very upset over her father’s death, but it was bittersweet that her mother wanted to move with her to New York after she got the job offer. She knew her mother would go with her literally anywhere she went though and Celeste never would refuse to her let her come with.
Zelda patted her mother’s shoulder, who was now in her mid 50’s, she gave her an encouraging smile. “You know, Zelda, your father would be so proud of us – a bunch of country girls moving up in the big ole’ city.” Zelda couldn’t help but laugh – none of her family had been family, none of them even had accents, but Zelda understood where her mother had come from. She couldn’t help but give a smile towards her mother, “It’s pretty crazy, right?” She led her mother outside to the front porch, “We have plenty of gardenable, if that’s even a word, um, dirt, for you. I know how much you love to garden.” Not to mention, Zelda was able to take in the view of some of the hard working, attractive men and women who were moving the Gray’s family larger furniture into the house.
Zelda put her left arm around her mother’s shoulders pulled her in for a half-hug, “It won’t be the same as Oklahoma or without dad, but we’ll make it work.” Her mother laid her head against Zelda. She heard some sobs from her mother, and unsure of whether it was bittersweet tears or depressed tears, Zelda simply kept her in the half-hug. All of these changes was hurting her, but there wasn't much they could do about the now. At least she'll have a job where she can keep her mother and herself comfortable. “It’s home now,” Zelda said quietly to her mother. She gave her a small kiss on the top of it her head.
