The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Syn nodded in agreement to Mars explanation on why they were in the labs. She longed for the day they could return to Sanctuary. "See you around and good hunting Mars."
Once the big man was out of the room Syn turned back to Shade. "Do you have more questions?"
Watching the little display Shade provided for Syn and Mars served to intrigue Syn more. Creating solid shadows in forms of knives and such. Objects that disappear after exposure to light. Oh yes, very interesting.
Syn nodded to mars comment about Shade fitting in. "Yes indeed. I could definitely use someone like you on my team." The wicked girl was already contemplating some possibilities for Shade. Such ideas like assassinating a few people as well as spying.
Syn listened to Shade talk about wanting to join her group, but when he mentioned the muntants from the mansion not letting him have fun Syn smiled. "Well, we don't like to keep our members from having fun. In fact we tend to embrace such activities whenever possible. However, everyone also knows when it's time to be serious and focus at the task at hand."
She looked him over once more. "Lisa didn't give me much detail of what you can do so if you don't mind...I'd like to see for myself."
As Shade started talking about his mission with Teresa, Syn placed a finger over his lips and shook her head. "That's enough. There will be time to talk about that later." She then looked around making sure no one was trying to listen in on the conversation. When she was satisfied that they were ok she looked back to Shade with a smile. "I'm glad my efforts to be hidden aren't wasted. Though I would rather be out more we have to be cautious for the time being."
Syn looked the new mutant over and noted his wound but she didn't comment on it. "So, tell me why you have been seeking me." Her eyes narrowed as she gauged Shades response.
Entering the infirmary after the delightful assistance of some of Hunter's personnel Syn looked around. She spotted Mars standing near a hooded figure and she approached them. "You must be Shade. My name is Syn. I hear you've been looking for me."
The little story Katrina spilled out before Syn made the young girl sound very alone and somewhat helpless in a way. It was something Syn was unfamiliar with. When she was young she had her siblings for a while but after the death of their parents Syn was on her own. It was a nice feeling as she was able to do what she pleased so there was never really any time for remorse or loneliness. She was nearly always surrounding herself with others either by tricking them with mental games or by the use of her power.
"Well, I live in New York City. With how things are right now it's much safer to be here for the time being so I don't mind. Hunter seems to have alot of resources here so it makes being here less of a burden. I live with family though since you asked and I don't have a job." Katrina's last question immediately made Syn think about the X-Men. "Well, I'm sure there are jobs we can do but i don't know of any off the top of my head other than working as an X-Man."
With the current topic focusing on the X-Men Syn wanted to see what the girl knew about them. "Do you know the X-Men?"
"Yes, there are times when I get lonely. I try not to let it happen very often though." Most of the time Syn was interacting with others from her brother or his clones to other mutants. In fact she had only opened up her emotions to Omen when she shared her room with the blue skinned girl. Otherwise Syn made herself appear to be rock solid. She had to make herself that way. How else was she to be seen by those she was to lead or conquer?
Placing her hand on Katrina's Syn smiled sweetly and spoke in a reassuring manner. "Don't worry about that. I won't say anything." She finished by also taking a bite of her cracker. It had been a long time since she had a graham cracker. In fact she too was roughly about Katrina's age when she last had one. Memories of her parents and her sister started popping into her head and for a moment Syn let the images make themselves known before shaking them from her head.
Syn smiled when Katrina thanked her for helping to calm the girl down. "I'm glad I could help." The girl certainly had an interesting power. It was definitely something that could be very useful. Syn couldn't help but wonder if Katrina just imagined the things she created or if the girl had seen the people and places in person.
While Syn was somewhat lost in thought Katrina scooted off the chair and retrieved a box. When the girl returned Syn could see it was a box of graham crackers. Then Katrina offered some of her crackers. "Why thank you." Syn took one of the crackers and nibbled on it as she watched Katrina. "Does using your power take that much out of you that you have to eat after every use?"
Syn was delighted when Katrina said she would show what she could do. It didn't take long either. Visions began appearing here and there. Some were just people while others transformed the room's appearance entirely.
A smile snaked it's way over Syn's red lips even though she wasn't exactly sure if these were illusions or if Katrina was broadcasting the scenes into Syn's brain and making them all seem real. Either way it was an impressive display. Just before the visions stopped they were flooding in fast and furious. It was making Syn blink more rapidly than normal as her eyes tried to adjust to the various sights.
Finally when all was back to normal Syn looked to the curled up girl as she held her head. Moving to her knees she knelt infront of Katrina and caressed her head as well. "No need to over exert yourself my sweet. I think you got a little carried away." Syn spoke in such a way to make it seem as if Katrina's powers got the best of the girl on accident. So, Syn was now calming the younger girl. "Rest for a moment."
"You can trust me Katrina. I want to be your friend so I'd like to know more about you. Specifically what all your mutations are so that way I'll know if I need to stand back from you or if I'll be safe when you use them." Syn's tone was very calm and reassuring. Under normal conditions one might be a little leary of the statment but possibly go along with it. However, this wasn't normal conditions as Syn was manipulating the scene to go in whichever diection she wanted.
Musical talent and paper folding didn't hold any interest what so ever. The words vanished into the air but turning invisible, that held some interest. Syn remembered back to the battle at KP. The one called Fade was able to become invisible as well, but is that all this girl could do? The way she answered Syn's question was borderline smartass. So, Syn decided to answer Katrina's question in a much different way.
Smiling and scooting to the front edge of her own seat Syn had already begun releasing her pheremones. As usual she stalled for a bit to ensure the girl was unaware of what was happening as well as allowing time for her power to take hold. "Turning invisible is a pretty useful ability." Syn looked around briefly to ensure no one else was in the room. No one else was present so Syn continued. "I have the power to help people tell the truth. It's also a useful ability. So why don't you tell me what all your mutant powers are Katrina?"
Katrina's response was less than expected. Then again, she is a young girl. That was something Syn could relate to. "Very well then. Please tell me what you can do my dear Katrina." All Syn could hope was that the girl had a power that might be put to some use.
Syn nodded as Katrina spoke about what she knew of Calley. Though she was hoping for more helpful details it wasn't much of a surprise. Perhaps Calley was careful about revealing his powers. Things will come to light in due time she thought.
"Yes, they live in the mansion. They're famous for trying to be the protectors of both mutants and humans even though they fight their own kind. They are constantly fighting for a lost cause. Humans and mutants will never fully get along." Syn shakes her head slightly and expresses a look of shame for the X-Men.
"So, Katrina would you mind if I asked what you are capable of?"
The description Katrina gave regarding Calley matched up with Syn's memory of the boy. "So is he a mutant and if he is what can he do?" It was time to dig a little deeper.
Mentioning the X-men made Syn giggle softly. She played it off as Katrina was being cute, but really she was laughing on the inside at the X-Men. Syn leaned closer to Katrina this time and whispered in the girl's ear. "Well, from what I hear they live with the mutants at the mansion. They're pretty famous ya know."
