The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Oh, ok,” Allegra said. These games were more technical than she thought. “Does RPG stand for ‘Real Confusing Game?’ Um, or whatever P stands for."
“Oh. Ooops,” she said when she got the main character mixed up with the creepy dad. “Pure bloodline? So that’s kinda like Hitler, right? I guess he has to be stopped then. But why would you want to play a game about a medieval world where you’re not a noble and things totally suck? Wouldn’t you rather play a noble? There should be an option to play a princess who is against Hitler. Then the princess falls in love with a hot soldier who doesn’t have a scar on his face. Then their love defeats all evil.”
“Wow. did I just think of an awesome story or what!” Allegra said. “Maybe I could write these video games. What do you think?”
“Your grandma tried to push you in an arranged marriage?” Allegra asked. “I didn't think that kind of thing still happened here. I mean except for in Iraq and maybe Mississippi. Why would she do that? If she likes this guy she’s setting you up with, then she should marry him. You’ve got too many hot girls to chase to waste time with that. No wonder you’re so angry at her. I really hope your mom can help. I’m sure Serena is on your side and you know I am.”
Allegra laughed when Alice said that she couldn’t be off the market long. “So true,” Allegra smiled. “The world needs to learn of your irresistible hotness and they will courtesy of my awesome makeover ideas. And, no. I’m not into girls but I’m trying to think of someone here to set you up with. That’s why I want to know your type.”
Choices, choices, choices. The guys were all hot. Well, for cartoons, at least. “Let’s see. Jocks are out,” she said. “Don't tell anyone but I think football is the most boring game ever and a lot of the football players are too. But since I'm a cheerleader, I need to at least pretend I'm interested. So no jocks. Now the dashing bad boy sounds more like my type. Hmmm…. No, scratch that. I’m trying new things so why don’t I try for the nerd. Should be the easiest right. And I can dazzle him with my vast knowledge of RGP and shooty video games. So what do I do next?”
Sparkle loved having her ears scratched. She nuzzled up against Alice. "Looks like you've found a new BFF," Allegra laughed. "Now you'll never get rid of her."
Oh my god! That....thing is standing right there. I'm really going to die, aren't I?
Those were the thoughts batting around Allegra's head but she was too afraid to actually speak them. She looked around for a weapon and clutched onto one of her ruined $700 diamond laced shoes. She held the heel up to show she meant business.
"Se-cu-ri-ty?" Allegra asked in a trembling voice. She wasn't quite ready to put her 'weapon' down but she thought about it. Only Xavier's would hire someone for security that made you feel far less secure. It made perfect sense. Maybe this creature was telling the truth.
"Rules?" Allegra asked. "I'm not breaking any rules. I just got lost in the maze. Can I go home now?"
Her mind raced fear as she tried to reason with this security person/mutant/thing. She was speaking half coherently but what she really wanted to say was Please don't kill me. Please don't eat me. Please don't kill me. Please don't eat me. Please don't kill me. I don't want to die. etc. etc. etc.
"I imagine it does feel weird," Allegra laughed. "I can't imagine what it would be like to be a boy. I mean to have that thing between my legs 24/7. I don't think so."
Derek seemed like (s)he was doing alright. "Here, sit down," Allegra said. She led him/her to the beach chair but (s)he started convulsing again. Allegra held his/her body up as (s)he slumped into unconsciousness and then to death.
"Someone call DocProf," the blue student shouted.
"No, he's okay. I think," Allegra answered. Derek was himself again. She set him gently on one of the chairs. "Derek, please tell me you're okay. You were dead."
"Really?" the blue student gasped. "Dude, what was it like being dead?"
"Oh, hi," Allegra smiled. She ran her hand though her hair which was a nervous habit she had. "Wow. You remembered my name."
She remembered his as well, but not at the moment. Nervousness created a serious mental block. She was sure Francisco wasn't his name but somehow that was all she could come up with.
"Uh, you haven't met Chocolate and Sparkle," she said introducing her dogs instead. Sparkle stood there wondering why Iggy took the ball away. He should at least throw it and let her chase it.
"Sure," Allegra said. "I used to play volleyball all the time back home." She swung her arm back and sent the ball flying over the net. "How about you?"
"I'd much rather have old parents. Mine are really immature," Allegra said. "Honestly, I'm more grown up than they are." That wasn't too far from the truth.
"You know, you talk like a grandma," Allegra laughed. "But the most awesome grandma ever." She elbowed Charlie playfully. "I like your philosophy. When they're being petty, be more petty. We're gonna take endless selfies of us having way more fun than them so I can rub it in their faces. Ha!"
Allegra had to be sure it was okay for her to get the dress and she squealed with delight when Charlie said she could. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Allegra hugged Charlie then went to try on her new outfit.
"I'm sorry," the shop owner said. "I thought you two were around the same age."
"I'm not a PRE-teen!" Allegra shouted from the dressing room. She had been an official teenager for a couple years now. She was downright ancient.
Allen was mesmerized by Charlie. Memories were swirling though his brain. His first love. A fire that burnt brightly but briefly. She had disappeared leaving him heartbroken. There was a rumor she had died but he never found out for sure what had happened.
"Dad, please don't stare at the customers," the shop keeper said.
"Sorry, miss," he apologized. His face was full of longing and sadness. He compared every day of his life to the few months he shared with her and every day since came short.
"So, can I interest you in anything," the shop keeper asked Charlie. "I'll give you a great discount for all your troubles." She glared at her father again.
Allegra came out of the dressing room and spun around in her new outfit. "Ta-daa! How do I look?"
“I’m going to die! I’m going to die!” Allegra gasped as she stumbled through the hedge maze. Dare she look behind her or should she keep running in vain. She always wondered what the last thing she’d ever hear right before she died would be. She certainly didn’t expect it to be..... "I'n not gonna hurt you. I'n on security. Duh nor uzz ny tine you waste, duh nore trou'le you're in!!"
What would happen if you crossed Charlie Brown’s teacher with a shrimp? It might have sounded something like that. Considering that Jack didn't have any lips or tongue, she did a rather admirable job of enunciating. Allegra wasn't quite sure how to interpret 'bug-speak.' It might have been a warning advising her that she wasn’t going to be hurt but she better turn herself into security before she got in more trouble. Allegra was more convinced that it meant ‘I don’t need any ketchup. I’ll just eat your gizzards raw!’
That second one was a bit of a stretch but Allegra’s imagination was running in overdrive. Her Entomophobia (fear of insects) wasn’t helping any. Since she was sure she was going to die anyway, she cautiously retraced her steps. When she got close to the entrance of the hedge maze, she quickly peered around the corner to see…. "Nooooooo!"
Allegra screamed. Those pincers or mandibles or claws or whatever you call them looked even scarier up close. So did the rest of it.
Allegra took off running but she had used the last reserves of energy and only managed to round one corner of the maze before collapsing on the ground.
Her mind raced trying to think of a way out of this. She leaned against the ivy wall and pulled her phone and her charger out of her purse. Maybe she could charge her phone enough that she could make a phone call. Then maybe she’d have a chance to make that call before the giant killer bug could get to her. Then maybe help would come before the bug chopped her head off.
Not very likely. The bug only had to walk around the corner.
“I’m going to die. I’m going to die. I’m going to die!”
Sometimes it seemed like Alice was speaking her own language. "Do you make these words up?" Allegra asked. "RPG? What's that? The Russian version of the CIA? And who decided it was a good idea to make a game about some Polish book no one has ever heard of? Why don't they base it on Vampire Diaries or something cool?"
Allegra looked at the picture of Geralt. "Hmmm, not my type," she laughed. "That scar is a definite turnoff. And wanting to marry his daughter? You think that's just a LITTLE creepy? Ewwww." Allegra didn't mean to be so negative about something Alice obviously loved but she just didn't get it.
Alice mentioned that he did some immoral things to save his daughter. He sounded pretty immoral all around. “I guess I like my heroes to be heroic. Or at least hot bad boys,” Allegra said. “Not skeezy creepy daddies.”
Allegra was relieved that Alice didn't have to wake up every half hour to get something to eat and even more relieved the people here were taking care of her. "Were you ever out on the streets?" she asked. "How would you survive out there having to eat that much? Did you run away because you were a mutant?" That was a pretty personal question but if you don't ask, you don't learn. And if you don't learn, you can't help. Besides, Alice seemed like the type that would let Allegra know if she was going to far out of bounds. "So things were worse with your grandma than your mom? Did you live with both of them?"
"If you need any help getting your stuff back, let me know. My family has money. We can help ship your stuff here. I want to do whatever I can to help," Allegra said. "Even if you are too embarrassed to admit to me about all the action figures you have," Allegra winked at Alice trying to lighten things up a bit.
Allegra's face lit up when Alice agreed to some makeup. "Sure. Whatever you need," Allegra said. "I've got all the best brands. Chanel, Estee Lauder, Lush, Artistry. And I have some killer makeover ideas if you'll let me. We'll get you looking wicked sexy in no time."
"Oh, shooter is a type of game. Got it," Allegra nodded. "I kind of thought they were all... shooter games. Well, except for those 80's games where you play a yellow dot-eating pizza or a short mafia plumber." None of those interested Allegra at all.
Picking and choosing among a bunch of cuties and trying to reel them in? Allegra was sold! "I didn't know games had cool stories like that," Allegra smiled. "Way better than Polish papa pedophiles. So what happens next?" She was genuinely excited about this game.
"Yeah, sure after I've had my fun, let's switch," Allegra offered. "I want you to get your chance to find true lust too."
So Kendra didn’t know much either. No problem. Allegra had it covered.
“I’ll just check the information on my tablet which I’m sure to have realy before starting a heist like this,” Allegra said. It had worked before when the Danger Room provided them a van. Allegra turned her hand over expecting the tablet to magically appear. She would then be able to look up all the info they needed.
Except, there was nothing. There was obviously a limit to the Danger Room’s generosity. Had Allegra thought of this when they were in the van, she might have been able to learn more about their target. As it stood now, they were both going into this blind.
“Okay. Plan B. Learn on the fly and adapt,” Allegra repeated. She didn’t even have a Plan A. This mission looked to be over before it even began.
The door swung open letting Allegra into the mansion. She was now realizing that Kendra probably could have gotten her inside all along. Suddenly Allegra was jealous. Sure the bit about never really sleeping had its downsides but Allegra wished she could just teleport all over the place like that.
Allegra clutched Kendra’s invisible hand. It did make her feel safer. Not safe, but safer.
“Okay, I guess we need a plan, huh?” Allegra said. “Ok. Plan #1.” She held up a finger so she could count all the plans she was going to have. So far, there was just one.
“Plan 1 is that I continue with the cheesiness,” she said. “I pull the flowers out of the garbage and flirt with whoever owns this place and hope he or she gives me some information because that always works in the movies.”
“Plan 2 is you go searching 20 rooms while everyone is distracted because we could get lucky after just one or two rooms. Plus you can go wherever you want and you’re invisible and you can teleport.” Allegra was starting to think that Kendra could pull this off on her own and Allegra was just along for the ride.
“Plan 3,” she continued happy she was counting these plans on her fingers because she’d lose track otherwise. She was obviously winging it. “For this plan we check out what all those guards are rushing to check on. It looks like we’ve already got a distraction with whatever is going on. Maybe it’ll inspire us to come up with another plan where we can just fly by the seam of my dress or whatever it is you’re wearing right now.”
“Plan 4 is we create our own distraction,” she said. “I can use my power on one of the guards. There’s downsides though. First, they have to be a mutant for it to work and I’m not gonna know who’s a mutant or not until I try it. Also I might not be able to create a suitable distraction because my power’s pretty random. I turned one guy into a human volcano. That would be a good distraction. I turned Derek into a hot girl. Come to think of it, that might be a good distraction too. But I can’t guarantee what it’s gonna do.”
“Plan number….what number are we on? Oh five I think,” Allegra said. “I don’t have a Plan 5 unless you do.” She waited to see if Kendra thought any of these ideas were any good or if she had some of her own.
Or maybe they would just be out of luck. That would probably be Plan #6.
A fashion shoot. VIP treatment. Free food. Limo. Plus a chance to hang out with her friends.
"Yes! I would love to!" Allegra exclaimed. She was supposed to be relaxing but she was excited about the idea. "Thank you for inviting me. That sounds so awesome!"
Allegra was looking forward to hearing Xavia's music as well. This was shaping up to be a really great day.
"The mud is supposed to soften your skin and detox your body," Allegra answered Derek. "I had looked into it but I never tried it until now. It's so relaxing."
Allegra couldn’t believe she was doing this. Sneaking out of the school like a teenager on a school night. Well, yes, she was a teenage sneaking out on a school night but it still felt solt so strange. Allegra’s mother never set a curfew so she never experienced the rebellious thrill of blending into the night in search of forbidden adventures. To be honest, she didn’t enjoy it much.
It started with a text from her friend, Rayna. Rayna was staying in the city for another night and would love it if Allegra could join her tonight at an exclusive club Kristii was getting them into.
To say Allegra couldn’t stand Kristii was an understatement. When the two got together it usually ended with a fight and one of them stomping off. But Rayna was apologetic and said that she really wanted to see Allegra. So Allegra agreed.
Allegra had made the acquaintance of a fellow student at Xavier’s named Lilly who clued her in on the way to get past all the mansion’s sensors. It involved climbing down a ladder from the third floor then sneaking through some of the wooded area and then around the hedge maze. A bit scary especially at night, but it was a guaranteed escape route that had been used by the students for months.
What Lilly didn’t mention was that she was a shapeshifter mutant with an even shiftier personality. Everything she said was a total lie. There was no way to evade the mansion sensors but it would be fun to see this sweet little cheerleader jump through hoops trying. Maybe Allegra would break her neck falling off the ladder. At the very least, Chief was sure to get her. Everything Lilly heard about Allegra was that she was terrified of mutants so this should be awesome. Lilly rubbed the clawed hands of her true form together. Lilly would have cackled in an evil, maniac laugh if her true form had a mouth.
Allegra wore one of her favorite dresses, a strapless black lace number. She held her stilettos in one hand as she cautiously made her way down the ladder. She wasn’t afraid of heights but descending down three stories on a wobbly ladder was nerve wracking. The damn thing would shake with each cautious step she took. Lilly had assured her it was sturdy. Take it slow. One step. Good. Two steps.
Allegra’s foot slipped. Her free hand clutched the rung and she felt sick as the ladder wobbled. She let go of her shoes so she could have two hands to clutch on to the ladder. Looking down wasn’t a good idea. Allegra watched her shoes crash to the ground and almost lost her grip afraid that she would plummet down as well.
For endless seconds Allegra breathed heavily as her hands gripped the cold rung and she forced her eyes closed. She could have sworn that rung was slippery like someone had poured oil on it. She was tempted just to climb back up but that would mean going even higher. No, she’d have to continue her descent and hope she didn’t crack her neck in the process.
She didn’t know how long it took her to reach the bottom but she finally made it. She was definitely going to be late meeting up with her friends. Allegra retrieved her shoes from the ground. The straps of the shoes were lined with real diamonds and some of them had come loose when they crashed to the ground. Allegra cursed the loss of a $700 pair of shoes as they were basically ruined. But she was still going to wear them tonight. She was not climbing back up to change.
She moved away from the mansion towards the wooded area as Lilly had instructed. Under the cover of the trees, it was almost pitch dark. Allegra thought she heard some animal howling. There were coyotes even in the city weren’t there? The howls seemed to be coming closer.
Allegra pushed her way through the woods batting away the bugs flying in her face. God, she hated bugs! She had to keep going. She felt her dress catch on something and because she was in such a hurry, she was sure she ripped it.
“No!” she shouted. This was a disaster. She loved this dress so much and it was ruined. Well, maybe she could text Rayna and borrow something from her.
Allegra pulled her phone out of her purse only to find that this night was destined to get even worse. She had forgotten to charge it!
She cursed to herself. The night was a bust. She just wanted to get out of these woods. When she did, she’d walk right up to the front door of the mansion and admit to anyone who asked that she had broken curfew and would gladly take detention or whatever punishment they saw fit. She just wanted to get home to her nice safe bed.
Wait. What was that? Allegra was sure she heard something in the woods. She felt like she was being watched. She pursed her lips to say ‘hello’ but only a wisp of breath came out. She was too afraid to say anything. She glanced back into the darkness one more time then took off running. That’s when she felt something sticky wrap around her face.
A spider web! Allegra screamed. She was fairly brave, but when she encountered spiders, bugs or any other kind of creepy crawly thing, she just lost it. She clawed at her face trying to get the sticky webbing off and just barrelled forward.
She was convinced something was still following her. Probably enjoying all this. She just hoped they weren’t dangerous. She just ran. It was difficult in her four inch heels but by running on her toes she was able to keep from tumbling down to the ground. She just hoped she was running fast enough to get away.
She veered off the path and just pushed her way through the tangle of trees and bushes. If something was after her, she’d be less of a sitting duck than on the path. Branches cut into her arms as she brushed against them but she didn’t care anymore. She just wanted out. But by running off the path, all she had done was get herself more lost. She didn’t even know where she was going was anymore. All she could do was fight through the angry foliage until she couldn’t go on anymore. Then she would just collapse and die in the woods where her body wouldn’t be found for days.
Okay, that was a little over dramatic. There really wasn’t that much forest to cut though. Seconds later, Allegra cut through the last of the wooded area to find herself on the perfectly manicured lawn. And less than a two minute walk away, she could see the hedge maze.
Allegra ran towards the maze then collapsed on the cool ground. She laughed, mostly to keep from crying. No one had been following her. She was just yards away from the school the whole time and she had imagined everything. Okay, not everything. Her outfit was ruined but she was never in danger.
She forced herself to get up. What she needed was a nice hot bath just to wash this evening away like it never happened. She took her shoes off and shambled around the maze and to the the sidewalk that would take her to the front door of the mansion.
That’s when she saw…..it!
Allegra didn’t know what it was. It’s silhouette was illuminated by the light from the mansion but it looked like a giant bug. It’s antennae were waving in the breeze as though they were sensing prey. Looking down its oversized arms she saw spikes leading down to claw like hands. She figured that thing could rip her head off with no effort at all.
The thing came closer. It was almost as though it were walking on tentacles for feet. She could almost hear the squishing sound with each footstep. And the things didn’t have a mouth but rather a series of freaky alien like things that no doubt would be shredding her brain after it had torn off her head.
None of her nightmares about insects (and she had a lot) could compare to the horror of this insectoid creature. It was all her worst fears come true.
Sure it was a prawn and not a bug but Allegra really wasn’t noticing any difference. She was just convinced this insect monster was going to kill her. She took off running into the maze. Maybe she could hide in there.
Once she ran inside, Allegra realized what an awful idea it was. She had never been in this maze in her life and this creature probably lived in there. Perhaps it’s clawing, snarling carnivorous little baby grubs were waiting impatiently for the creature to deliver living flesh for them to devour.
Allegra was completely exhausted but adrenaline kept her going. She rushed around the corners of the maze certain that at the next turn was certain doom. The creature was probably just inches behind her, ready to decapitate her pretty little head.
“Thanks,” Allegra said. She didn’t want to admit out loud that she really didn’t like Alice’s hair color. It was just too punk or something. Not Allegra’s style, though for what Alice was trying to go for, she guessed it was perfect.
“You play as the father?” Allegra asked. “You know that’s kinda lame, right? Who wants to play some middle aged guy. I wouldn’t even want to date some middle aged guy.”
Allegra let Alice continue explaining. It seemed interesting that you would be playing multiple characters; both the father and the daughter. “I don’t get why you can’t choose who you play,” Allegra said coming back to her original objection. “Is the dad at least hot?” Sure that wasn’t Alice’s area of expertise but she could at least judge whether he was handsome.
“So when you say you go through hell, is that literal hell? Like with the demons and stuff?” Allegra asked. “If so, he’s so not getting any father of the year awards for letting his daughter go there. He’s even a worse parent than my mom. Speaking of, where is the mother during all this?”
Allegra wasn’t going to admit it, but she was kind of intrigued by this game just because Alice was so into it. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever, but it was a challenge learning about it.
“You can eat whatever you want? You know I hate you right now,” Allegra smiled to show Alice she was just joking. Then she thought about the downsides to such a ‘gift.’ “Wait, every thirty minutes? How do you sleep then? How do you even afford all that food? Okay, let’s get more snacks than popcorn then.” She grabbed a few cereal boxes. “I’ll help you carry food to your room if you want so we’re all set.”
When they got to Alice’s room, the gamer answered questions about her decor or lack of it. “Wait. You're stuff's all at home but can you even get your stuff back after running away? Do you want to see your folks again? Can your sister, Serena, or someone get it for you?”
Allegra felt sorry for the girl. “Look, I have too much stuff,” she said. “I’m gonna have to send things home because they refuse to get me a decent sized room. I’ve got clothes and furniture and accessories and stuffed animals and makeup and a bunch of other stuff. If you want to stop by, you can ‘shop’ for what you might need before I have them pack it all back up again.”
“Oh they’re the best behaved puppies ever! Aren’t you.” Chocolate yipped loudly in agreement. Sparkle was too busy exploring Alice’s closets to listen.
“A shooter?” Allegra asked not knowing Alice was referring to a video game. “Ick. There are too many crazy people with guns. I don’t think you should make posters and artwork about them.”
Then they started the dating sim. “Oooh! So it’s like design-a-guy,” Allegra laughed. Ok, so sitting around drooling over a cartoon was pretty pathetic. But since Allegra didn't have a bae in real life, why not have a little fun? The controls were pretty easy. She chose a well toned but not too muscular tanned guy with a bright smile and dark hair and dark eyes. He had this expression that said ‘I’m a bad boy but not too bad.’
“So are you gonna create the girl of your dreams?” Allegra asked. She was interested to see what Alice’s type would be.
Allegra was ready for some random special effects. She wasn't ready for reality to twist and turn around her. The walls and the ceiling disappeared and there was suddenly a cool breeze brushing her hair. Allegra was standing outside.
"What?" she exclaimed. "Where did the door go? Where did everything go? How are we going to get out of here?"
There had to be a way out. Right now Allegra was tasked with finding a way in. That looked pretty impossible too.
"You're the invisible one, not me," Allegra said. "There's no way I can just walk into that mansion."
She stared at the mansion with all the cameras and just imagined all the security guarding it and the diamond. "I'm fresh out of ideas," she admitted. "Okay I never had any to begin with. I guess I should have watched more cheesy heist movies. Hold on! I just got an idea for a cheesy plan. Not a great plan, but an plan."
"Okay, so getting me in isn't all that important," she continued. "But you're the invisible one. If I can get them to let me in then you can just follow me since you're invisible. Then you sneak downstairs like Casper and nab the diamond while I try to keep everyone else occupied. Let's go to our van."
Allegra was still thinking out loud as she led Kendra down the street away from the mansion. "The Danger Room can create anything, right? So I'm thinking that if we're going to break into this place, we wouldn't just walk in. We'd have a plan and supplies."
This was just a theory but Allegra reasoned the Danger Room would provide. Despite the dumb blonde act she put on most of the time, Allegra could be clever when she wanted to.
Down the street was a nondescript black van. Allegra suddenly had a keychain in her hand. She pointed it at the van and the vehicle beeped in reply. Allegra went to the back and slid the van door open.
"Okay, hold on. I'm going to get changed," she said. She hopped inside. A few minutes later she emerged dressed in a short flowery lace up dress and holding a huge bouquet.
"This is embarrassing, I know," she said. "I told you my idea was cheesy. But it should hopefully get me though the gates and give you a chance to follow and sneak it. Now, tell me what you know about the person who lives in that mansion. Oh, and the diamond."
Allegra walked up to the gate's buzzer. She smiled trying to look as confident and sexy as possible.
Allegra sighed. Kendra’s hand on her shoulder felt comforting despite the fact Allegra couldn’t exactly see it. She was getting better with this mutant stuff after all.
“No, they’re not permanent,” Allegra said. “Derek’s back to his old self. And the guy that I turned into a volcano is back to normal. But the lava completely ruined his precious Mercedes.”
She started laughing uncontrollably. “Sorry,” she said. “It’s not funny. It was frightening when I saw him change but ….the look in his eyes.” She started laughing again. God, Kendra was going to think she was insane.
“We were on a date and he just pulled over and he got….” Allegra’s voice trailed off. “What I did to him was no worse than what he probably did to a lot of other girls. Maybe it even taught him a lesson. “
She turned in Kenra’s direction. “I wouldn’t do that kind of thing to anyone on purpose. I'm just warning you that my power is dangerous. But no one has gotten permanently injured. They've all gone right back to normal.”
“Whoa!” Allegra exclaimed as the walls changed color then went all IMAX on her. “This is what? Like a giant video game? Alice would totally love this place."
Allegra looked at her choices. Laser tripwires? Allegra was good at yoga and Twister but didn’t think she’d be flexible enough to maneuver through that. Her first impulse was to help the guy tied to the chair. Maybe he was handsome under that bag over his head and would be grateful to the gal that saved him. But there was no way she could take down those guards. And, let’s back up here. Was Allegra just admiring a hologram? Ewwww. Did people come down here to get off on holograms? That was a whole new level of creepy.
That left option one. A giant diamond. No brainer. Allegra liked diamonds. Again, more guards but they probably weren’t as mean as the ones holding the poor guy hostage.
“I guess I’ll go with the diamond heist,” Allegra announced as if she were a game show contestant. “So how exactly does this work?”
She told herself to relax. It was just holograms. Beams of light. She couldn’t get hurt in here could she?
Well, of course she could. Otherwise they’d call it the Pretty Ray of Light Room instead of the Danger Room. But Allegra wasn’t going to wimp out.
If she got seriously injured, at least she wouldn’t have to take that History test.
