The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Allegra was really nervous. She wanted to turn back but Charlie was intent on jumping into this freak show. What was Allegra going to do? Just stand all by herself while Charlie had fun? Allegra wasn't about to go back to her own friends. And she knew she'd have no fun at this festival if she was all by herself. No, she'd have to prove she was ready to get out there and seize the day.
"I'm in too," Allegra said as her shaking hand signed the waiver.
"Here's yer cards to give back to me to get yer stuff back," the ogre said. Allegra looked longingly as her phone was locked away with her purse.
"And you'll need dese," he said handing the ladies glow sticks. "Wrap dem around yer necks when you want the music to start. He isn't gonna do anything wit'out yer permission. Take 'em off when you've had enough but I guarantee you'll wanna stay there forever."
"Yeah, sure," Allegra said. She looked up to Charlie as if to say 'are we really going to do this?' But of course, they were. Allegra wrapped the glow stick around her neck and connected the two plastic ends and waited for...
Nothing.
Allegra was just standing there. Obviously this whole thing was a hoax. She wondered if Charlie felt as stupid as she did. Allegra started walking to the entrance humming some song she couldn't get out of her head.
It was a lullaby her parents used to sing her when she was a baby. It was something about a rabbit but Allegra had been too young to know that. She just remembered those two giant people staring down at her lovingly. The words were still nonsense through the filter of a child's mind as they filled Allegra's head louder and louder with a pulsing beat.
The lullaby flowed seamlessly into a jumbled medley of her favorite childhood cartoon themes. Cartoon character voices repeated becoming part of the beat as guitar riffs entered the mix and boomed through Allegra's head. Allegra remembered the rock song even if she couldn't remember who sang it. She hadn't liked it at first but it was David Mitchell's favorite song and Allegra loved anything associated with her first crush. He loved her too but both were too shy to admit how they felt about each other and they drifted apart. But as this song now whirled around her head and mixed with some of Charlie's courage and in her remixed memories, Allegra was able to tell David how she felt. That was so easy. Why didn't she do it in real life? But, lost in this song, she didn't need to. She was now replaying their happiest memories together even though they never happened.
The tempo then increased and the pulsing beats echoed with random snippets from her favorite song ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwB9EMpW8eY. ) It was one that she and her best friends listened to together and considered their theme song. Allegra closed her eyes and she was with them again. In her head, she never became a mutant and never had to go to Xavier's. She and her squad would be forever. And now Allegra had a forever boyfriend and parents that loved her. A life she desperately wished could have been magically existed on the dance floor. Allegra spun, danced and whirled as she relived the perfect version of her life over and over again. She never wanted it to stop.
But it was interrupted. One of the dancers hurled himself at Allegra and slammed into her as he bolted away from the crowds. Screaming, he ran face first into the stage and banged his head over and over against the concrete.
With unbelievable speed, the orange giant ran over and grabbed him before he could give himself a concussion (though he'd probably suffer irreparable mental damage.)
"Nuttin' to see here. Just a bad trip. Enjoy yous'selves," he said as he carried the man screaming and crying over his shoulder.
Allegra was horrified at first but the music and the visions were just too hard to resist. So she closed her eyes and tried to put this sight out of her mind and go back to her fantasy world.
And she would have, except she thought about Charlie. Allegra didn't want her new friend to end up like that. So reluctantly she pulled the glow necklace off herself. The music and the ecstasy that went with them ended like a car crash.
The tears flowed down her face but Allegra barely noticed. It would be so easy to go back to the musical fantasy but she couldn't return. She pushed her way through the zombie like crowd. "Charlie! Charlie! Where are you?"
It'd be fun to get Kayla and Allegra together. They're both the same age and from California but they have quite different ideas about mutants. Could be interesting.
Allegra stood back. Derek was so good with flirting. Maybe she could learn something.
"Well, you gave me your number," Doug said nervously. "I was just wondering if you were dating anyone or if you're single. And if you like girls or guys?"
Oh no! Allegra completely blew it this time. Geography wasn't her strong suit at all and now she looked like a complete idiot in front of this cute boy. She wished she could just burrow down under the sand and hide there forever.
"I was just joking," Allegra said. "I knew it was in Latin America. That's why you speak Latin so well." She winked. "Another joke. Obviously."
Okay, that just felt so fake. Allegra didn't want to come off like that.
"I lied. I'm sorry. I know they don't speak Latin in Latin America but I admit I honestly don't know where Colombia is. I'm sorry. I want to learn about your experiences and your culture. That's more important to me than finding something on a map."
"I don't know if I want to be a trainee," Allegra said. "Sounds like a lot of responsibility and kinda dangerous. I don't know if I want to team up with the police to fight for mutant rights or whatever. And I'm afraid to go to the counselor because what if I say the wrong thing? Lots of kids are all about the mutant issue and how mutant lives matter and how oppressed mutants are." She whispered to Derek. "I feel oppressed here because I don't want to be a mutant. I don't have any mutant pride. I just want my old life back."
Allegra looked over towards the hallway to the bathrooms. Xavia had been there for a long time. "Is she okay?" Allegra asked. "She seems really happy but she seems kinda worried too. Maybe I'm imagining it. You know her better than I do. It just seems like she's kind of scared about something and not just about a baby on the way."
Allegra's eyes opened wide when Alice set her straight about her judgmental rant. The blonde wasn't expecting that at all.
"I...I'm sorry." She was speechless for a second. "I would never bully anyone. Never! I've been bullied a lot and it really hurt."
For Allegra it was especially hard. She was considered the popular party girl and people just assumed that meant that she had no problems. This just made the bullying ever harder. Allegra had been harassed by some of the goths and stoners for being a 'Barbie doll.' She also suffered bullying and gossip and the hands of her fellow 'beautiful people.' In some ways, Allegra envied the nerds. They didn't have as hard a standard to live up to.
It was all especially hard for someone like Allegra who lived for the approval of others. When someone said something good about her, she felt great. When they bullied or questioned her, she felt like she wasn't even fit to walk the planet. "Do you know how many times I've been called fat and ugly?" Allegra asked. "People call me a slut even though I've never even kissed a boy. I'm never good enough. My mom tells me how worthless I am and then I hear it at school too. And now that I'm here, things are even worse because I really don't fit in. The kids here are mean to me and some of the teachers are too because I guess I'm just not 'mutant' enough. Do you know how much I want to be accepted and encouraged too? All I was doing was giving my opinion that I think that game is silly."
Wrong thing to say. One of the first things Allegra learned was not to give her opinion. It was better to just agree with everyone. That was how you get to be liked and popular. Best to nip this in the bud.
"But you know, dragons are pretty cool so I can see why people like that game," Allegra lied. "Dragons are like big dinosaurs with wings. How cool is that?"
Not very. Ever since that field trip in first grade where she had to see all those boring dinosaur bones, Allegra thought dinosaurs were stupid. Recently Allegra met a mutant who could turn into dinosaurs and she decided she liked them even less. But she hoped she was selling it to Alice. Alice was so cool and Allegra really wanted her to be her friend.
"Maybe we can play the princess game some other day," Allegra said. "We've got this one to try out and maybe one day I'll play a game you really like. Even if it is about some middle aged Polish guy."
"That's so sad about your mom," Allegra said. "Sure, I want to travel the world and put on shows with my fashion line but if I had a daughter, she would be my number one priority. It sucks the only option was your creepy grandma. I think that's great you found Serena. So how did your power find her?" Allegra usually wasn't interested in mutant powers but this sounded really cool. To use it to find a lost sister. Wow.
"Yeah,my dad just bailed on us," Allegra said. "My dad's August Avers. You ever see 'Badges and Bullets?' It was a show that lasted one season in the 90s." Allegra adopted a gruff voice and held up an imaginary police badge. "This here says I'm the law and the law does whatever the law wants," she imitated her father saying his most famous catchphrase from the show. "He was also in all four 'Monkey Madness' movies where a monkey teaches four college kids how to get laid. I never watched any of those because seeing my dad learn how to pick up women. Ewww. Also, they sucked."
"But my dad had it all with the Hollywood life," she said. "So rather than go through the divorce proceedings he gave up everything he had. He just kept like $1,000 and moved away to start all over again. Last I heard, he discovered Jesus and is selling insurance in Idaho. Married with two kids. I'm happy for him but I wish he'd keep in touch. At least a birthday card or something. But mom says it's my fault he left, so I guess I can't ask for much."
"Oh,there's a couple guys I have my eyes on," Allegra said. "But I don't do well around guys. I just freeze up and shut up. Thank you for saying that. That's really sweet." Allegra didn't believe guys would be interested in her but she appreciated Alice's support. "You know, for a nerd you've got a whole lot of confidence. I wish I could borrow some of that."
"I don't understand why people would spend all this money when there's a puppy that already really needs a home," Allegra said. "My mom wanted to spend thousands at a puppy mill that mistreats dogs to begin with but I said no. And I got the two greatest dogs in the world." Chocolate yipped loudly as if she new what Allegra was saying. Sparkle emerged from Alice's closet with one of the gamer's shoes in her mouth.
"Sparkle! No! Put that down!" Allegra ordered. The dog set it down on Alice's lap then looked up expecting a treat.
"Awww, that's so sweet," Allegra said about the nerd boy in the game. Allegra's character gladly accepted the flowers. "So how do I talk to him?"
"You sure have the sultry Colombian accent down," Allegra complimented. She was blushing a bit so she was glad the sun was in Iggy's eyes.
"I'd love to go to Costa Rica," Allegra said. She was nervous now because she had no clue where Costa Rica even was but she figured it had some nice beaches.
"So what do you remember best about Colombia?" Allegra asked. "I've never been to Africa."
Oh no! Was Columbia even in Africa? Maybe it was South America or Hawaii or something like that. Allegra now wished she had actually paid attention in Geography class. She hoped Iggy wouldn't notice. She wanted to learn more about him.
